Avenues Pet Hospital

San Francisco, California
General Info
Avenues Pet Hospital in San Francisco fully integrates precise medical techniques and behavioral awareness to provide all-rounded pet care that considers animal personalities, stress responses, and unique species signals throughout California. Cats need ownership as well as respect before allowing any form of an inspection. Dogs might need some additional time to move from one step to another. They should also be allowed to sniff and familiarize themselves with the tools. The clinic uses techniques specific to each species that are mindful of the emotional aspect to avoid overstimulation, customized according to the pet’s tolerance level. When a project focuses on project owners, it treats them as full partners. The analysis of the pet’s general behavior at home includes factors like where the pet chooses to sleep, what it does after a storm, and how it reacts to unusual textures. Avenues Pet Hospital delivers medical assistance in preventive planning, diagnostics, internal medicine, nutrition advisement, dental care, and multi-species senior pet wellness. The timing for each procedure is coordinated to ensure that the animal can remain calm and present. Some pets need multiple visits to perform tests, while others benefit from diagnostic bundles and a specific anxiety-reduction preparation plan. Exotic animals need to be handled uniquely to avoid health problems resulting from stress. Families obtain post-session suggestions, which include ways to monitor how the dog expresses pain and determine whether it is overstimulated by sound or activity. Each treatment plan has a temporal structure with clearly delineated time points for steps that need to be taken, things that need to wait, and things that need to be re-assessed. Avenues Pet Hospital provides veterinary services to family pets in San Francisco and the adjacent California regions. The hospital uses an emotional compass to read each animal patient’s unique body language, stress cues, and timing needs. The team offers the following expert services: Bloodwork, Cardiology, Cold Laser Therapy, Dental Care, and Diagnostics. Clients consistently praise the practice for its commitment to care and the attention it gives to pets’ needs. Whether it is a routine check-up or a more involved surgical procedure, you can rest assured that your pet will receive the best possible care.

The few times I've visited this veterinary clinic I was given to a different practitioner each time. We were referred by friends. I will say that if you go in there for a routine procedure you can be sure that it will escalate into a bill of several hundred dollars or more. Unfortunately we also had a hideous experience, has stayed with me, due to the intensely childish response by a member of the office staff regarding their payment procedure. A simple conversation about the fact that they don't except American Express turned into a convoluted personal battle of wills between office staff the managing Vet and myself. They may be good with pets but they're absolutely horrible with people. Read Less

Friendly vets, with a short wait time, just in and out which is nice. Dr Vickers is the best vet I've been to (I've tried 6) and was helpful when we brought my cat in after visiting several other vets who were not able to figure out the issue. However, my cat's blood results got lost either here or the lab AND my cat got fleas from being at the vet. I asked for some flea medicine and the front desk said they wouldn't give it to me for free because he could've got the fleas from anywhere. Anywhere?! He hasn't had fleas in 8 years and he's an indoor cat, he obviously got them at the vet where there are tons of animals. So pretty unhappy about this policy, pretty ridiculous. Also we have to put him down in 5 days so wouldn't it be great if he didn't have to deal with fleas on top of his failing Liver?! Update: I had to bring in my cat, since the bloodwork was lost, and Dr Vickers re-did the blood work for free. She also gave him flea meds. This makes up for earlier so I've updated my review. Dr Vickers is the best and I highly recommend coming here. But my only gripe still is that one of the front desk girls is pretty rude for no reason. Read Less
