I am in awe of my experience and beyond thankful for Dr. Adam's time, insight and empathy into my situation, but mostly for his knowledge. I have been dealing with my 17 y/o cat waking us once to three times a night anywhere from 3-6am for almost four months now. Assuming it's dementia, my vet that I've been using for 14 years has just provided medication to 'try'. I came to about month three with very little positive change, so I decided to give Healthy Pets a call. I'd had their info on my fridge for years; they'd been referred to me by my local pet boutique as the best holistic vet practice in SF. Though note, each vet treats with the western mindset too.Desperate and on medication #2 and told to "double the dose" - I wanted to see what Dr. Adam thought before doing so. I scheduled an hour consultation with him, knowing he is the most expensive in the practice. I am ok with that. Our conversation/consultation went places I couldn't have thought of - but honestly, my other vet should have asked these very questions. It was very astute questioning - not just about her "waking us up" but the exact patterns - the hows and whats - what the meow sounds like, what exactly she does after we wake to soothe her, how much she eats at that time, what her digestion patterns are then, and just so much more enlightening questioning. I hadn't received that before this - just a proposed diagnosis of "feline cognitive brain dysfunction" - which yes is quite normal at her age, yes, but... Dr. Adam is not convinced (YET) that that's what is waking my old lady up every single early a** morning.Moving forward, Dr. Adam has two protocols and we're trying #1 before we hit #2. He promised me we'll get to the bottom of it, and I truly believe we will. Yes, it's going to do a deep dive into my wallet, but the thing is, my old lady is very healthy otherwise (confirmed by Dr. Adam) and she is not ready to cross the rainbow bridge. I will do what it takes to keep her happy and comfortable until I (or Dr. Adam) feel otherwise. If you're looking for a second opinion, or want to explore the holistic way (which ironically is not where Dr. Adam is taking us yet) - save up some money and visit this extremely knowledgable and kind man. Talk about bedside manner - yes he's a scientist and he talks like a scientist, but he was so patient with my questions and showed complete empathy about my situation (and lack of solid sleep for a quarter of a year!) yet held my sweet thing in his arms, massaging her jaws lovingly, and had her purring up a drooling storm.Reception was great - both women I dealt with (over the phone and in person) were equally kind, warm and super helpful. Vet techs were equally awesome. I don't regret my decision to schelp across town to this practice and will likely convert full-time once Dr. Adam and get a little more toward the end of this current debacle.Parking tip for cat owners: skip the meters. Either get a good carrying case for your cat or drop them off first --- go park on the 2-hour residential streets across the street. Read Less
