This guy works at Mission Pet Hospital, and is a horrible person. He enjoys talking shit about pet owners. He scoffs at any kind of knowledge you may have about your pet, even if you have worked with animals and read alot of books by dog psychologists and behaviorists. this guy laughed at me when I warned my dog would release her anal gland if you took her to the back room without one of us with her, he makes the tech bring her back out and she has released her anal gland and the whole office smells of it. after hearing that we rescued a dog because we couldn't leave her with the humans who let her be abused by a drug addicts, who currently let her live in a field, and now she acts like a normal dog 80% of the time, she still has some anxiety with being away from her owners but has a group of humans she trusts and doesn't mind hanging out with alone, and she is still scared of very loud bangs and extra tall people who don't greet us petting her, considering she couldn't even approach a human when we met her, that is amazing. after only 3 years of rehabilitation she is happy, it took almost a year for her to realize she could wag her tail, now she does every time she sees her people, dogs, and of course food, she used to pee at every loud noise including noises far away, now she barely lifts an ear unless it is close, she would pee at the sight of men, now she cant wait to sniff their butts and watch them interact. My partner and I both have forms of PTSD, so when I say her I offered her a choice take the turkey jerky from me and i will take you somewhere safe, I got on the ground on my back with jerky and she approached me took it and ran off, i sat in my cars back seat with more turkey jerky and she jumped over me into the car, she snuggled in the back seat and shook, i put some jerky by her, and put my hand out to sniff she sniffed and looked at me, i yawned she looked again and took the jerky stretched a bit and snuggled back down n curled in a ball, the second her old humans came over to talk she buried herself under the seats and shook harder so i led them away from her with the car door still open so she could escape if she wanted, and let them know she was coming home with my and my partner. we bring her home and she has issues but i had been working at doggy daycare for a while and had read many books on dog behavior so i made my partner read books and learn the signs of anxiety and fear, but also signs of comfort. I trained him how to train her the most beneficial way, patience and high value treats. once he was trained, i had him lay on his back and had the pup come near him and let her sniff him all over without him reacting. after that i put a leash around his waist had him lay back down and hooked her to the leash, I spend a few weeks watching him to make sure he was patient and for her as moral support and now she loves him more than me! this didn't take long since he is soft spoken and calm, now she is his ESA and prevents his panic attacks. she has a routine, dog friends, human friends and a job, she is perfect. the last 2 weeks she noticed she sometimes ignores us and honestly it looks like she is having flashbacks, and i have also notices a higher distrust towards dogs, usually she only is distrustful if they bark and wont play, now she is starting to raise her scruff and wants to leave the park. along with this sometimes she looks at me and her forehead is shaking like she is having brain shakes, she is on Prozac so we looked into side effects, one long term side effect is brain shakes, so my partner calls the vet and guess who answers, Daniel E Dickason DVM, he tells my partner to get a behaviorist, my partner says it is a bit expensive and he was concerned it was the Prozac doing this not our dog, so the vet says he can't help, then thinks he hung up, but instead he set the phone down, and proceeds to talk about how after hearing my partner talk about our dogs issues last time he wanted to kill himself. he said if we wanted to help a dog with that serious of issues we should be willing to put the money into it or we should have left her in the abusive home....I would just like to say as a victim of abuse, being in a home where i am loved and where my people do everything in their power to help me is more valuable than a doctor with a big floppy Wang of a mouth who thinks it is okay to judge and talk down about people who love their animal companions. we have looked in behaviorists and our last vet said her progress was so amazing she didn't think our dog needed one. I believe it would help, but if you call your doctor with medication concerns and they say they can't help you, after they prescribe the medication to you, they need to go back to school. Daniel Dickason you need to go back to school, I will no longer be paying you to not give a f*ck about my dog and talk shit about her humans in the office place in font of other vets and patients.
