Not that they need another review, but we too love love love Dr Erik (sp?) and his staff at Park Animal. We switched to this hospital after using VetPronto (mobile vet) for a few appointments for our puppy's vaccines. After being unhappy with our pups care, we switched to Park Animal. Wonderful visit with Dr. Arrick who seems to be one of the more practical vets in the city.  Woke up this morning with our dog shaking her head vigorously and often.  Applying a slight touch near the base of her left ear caused whimpering, strange for our dog who seems to have a high threshold for pain.  He did a full body examination just to make sure he didn't miss any other health issues, then examined both ears with 2 different sizes of scopes.   Although not immediately visible, his instincts suspected that it was a foxtail that had migrated down to her eardrum.  Without prompting, I appreciated that he said that he was going to give the issue a deeper look back in his exam room with his staff, but that he did not want to sedate our dear dog. Any other vet in the city, especially an ER clinic, would have insisted on putting the dog under, and justified doing so because of how deep the foxtail had migrated, and terrified me, the owner, by saying that it could be done no other way.  Or possibly worse, because the foxtail was not visible upon first examination, would have assumed it was an ear infection and sent us home with a cream, leaving the object behind in her ear.  Dr. Arrick most assuredly has dogs of his own as he seemed to know that putting our dog under was the last thing we wanted to do, .  Our dog is active but older, and sedation is hard for any dog, young or old.  But again, we didn't even have to ask, he just knew.  Dr. Arrick put on his vet superhero cape and was the right/safe amount of confident that he could remove the object without sedation.He was victoriously back in 5 minutes with a 6-inch long set of forceps with a giant foxtail in tow.  Success!Dog and I were ever so thankful. We came here cause Dr Holiday came here from Balboa pet. She was our vet with our beloved cat Agnes and was so comforting when it was time to put her down. When we got our new kitten Ethel I  knew there was only one Dr I wanted to take care of her and that's Doc Holiday would follow her anywhere. The staff is great and the Vet tech Hui is wonderful too. Dr Arrick and his entire staff are amazing. I have a 7-year old black lab and they have taken care of our every need since he was a puppy. They keep us on track with his shots and check-ups and the few times he has gotten really sick, they get us right in and take excellent care of him. I wish I could give 10 stars out of 10 because Park Animal Hospital is absolutely phenomenal! Dr. Arrick and the staff is always courteous and professional. I simply love they follow up with reminders for appointments and after to ensure my handsome Cappy is happy and healthy!Over the holidays, out of the nowhere Cappy exhibited some weird behaviors which really concerned me. I brought Cappy to see Dr. Arrick because he kept showing new symptoms after he was discharged. Over the holidays, I must have brought Cappy in to see Dr. Arrick over 4 times, and every time the team immediately admitted us in without hesitation!After Dr. Arrick pinpointed what was the root cause, not only was I relived but Cappy was also over the moon! A HUNDRED STARS for Park Animal Hospital's staff, Dr. Arrick and Dr. Holliday.Literally life savers, for me and my mini-dachshund, Percy. Long, sad story that I won't recount, they have been amazing in caring for Percy through his back injury, and now after his recovery, helping me manage his chronic back condition. For dachshund owners who are seeking experience with non-surgical treatments for spine/nerve injuries, this is your place. During Percy's critical time last year, I spoke with several SF vets who I didn't feel had enough experience with (non-surgical) treatments and options (everyone pushing me to opt for expensive and frankly unnecessary surgery for his specific injury), but found the team at Park willing to work with me on his meds, incorporate acupuncture (Dr. Holliday!) and they now offer laser treatments for pain that work incredibly well. So if the didn't have a lot of experience with this specific sort of injury before last year, they certainly do now!Dr. Arrick is so kind, patient, responsive and collaborative. Yesterday my dog was sick from diarrhea, I bring my dog to this hospital (sunset branch) I didn't make appointment but I told the reception I can wait, she gave a a long face said they don't accept without appointment. I though this hospital should give patience a chance to wait, not by book. Doctor see patience because patience (dogs, cats) ill, nobody will bring their pets to a hospital if their pets are healthy. If Doctor only work for money, they should let me wait, they can make money on this case, If they work by heart, they care about animals, they will let me wait too. See a patience (dogs, cats) won't cause more than half an hour. I feel sorry for this hospital especially the front desk staff.Read Less

Great vet service. I've been taking my dog there for many years, and never feel like they are trying to sell me procedures or products that my pup doesn't need many other places (including the SPCA). Highly recommend it!Read Less

This place is the best! They are extremely accommodating, the staff is wonderful- everyone I've met there seems extremely compassionate as if my baby was theirs. Means a lot. They don't try to sell you unneeded tests, etc. My baby has to be on prescription food due to urinary problems- one day I decided to to buy it online from petmeds or something similar- the online store contacted the vet to confirm prescription, and Park Vet denied it. The vet called me IMMEDIATELY to alert me that this online company is notorious for repackaging unhealthy food as prescription food!!!!! I had no idea and was sooooo grateful!!! Did some research after the fact and found some horror stories about this online company. I have been coming here with my pets for over 15 years, so that should tell you something. Great staff, great service, and they always make time to see you when you are in need. Dr. Arrick is the Vet I have seen the most, but I have also seen Dr. Owens on numerous occasions and she has always been kind and extremely thorough. Read Less

I've always been able to get a same-day appointment -- they always manage to squeeze us in even though they always seem very busy. Staff is very friendly and empathetic, and is terrific at getting back to you in response to questions or requests for status of test results, etc. I'd give them six stars if i could.
