My friend has been taking his cat here for over 10 years, and since I had some problems at the Vet near my house accidentally giving me flea medication for a DOG instead a kitten, I needed to find a new vet. I had a wonderful experience here at Sunset Veterinary Hospital. They saw my female cat, and she got her lady parts taken out (which I was SO nervous about) and the surgery went great! She is healed now, and happy. The doctors did a wonderful job calming me (the greatest feat of all!) and taking care of her. I would recommend Sunset Vet, since I had a great experience. I took my cat to these people because she had a lump on her tummy. First they said not to worry, it's nothing. Well, the lump got much larger and they told me they aren't sure if they should do surgery since she's an older cat. We talked a bit more to the vet about her health, and was told they can do surgery because she'll be okay .Are these people for real? Well, she had her surgery. I received a call and was told that they had to do more surgery than anticipated, since she had another lump undetected, but she came out of surgery and doing well. I received my first call from them with this great feeling that she was okay! Unfortunately, 10 minutes later I received another call from these ""vets"" telling me she died. Apparently the breathing tube was removed too soon. The last thing I requested from them was that she be cremated and I wanted a clip of her hair. Well I never received a clip of her hair, but I finally received her remains..... IN A SEALED WOODEN URN! I was curious so I asked the ""vet"" how do the know it's my baby? The answer was that they tested the ashes to make sure we have our babies. Well, to top it off, I called the people who did the cremation and asked them about testing ashes....guess what? NOT! they sealed her urn so there was no way anyone could have opened her urn to test her....they must think people are stupid....I know I was for taking her there. If you need a good vet, go to Pet's Unlimited. I'ts out of the way for some, but so worth it! Oh, I almost forgot....I received a card from them saying how sorry they were for our loss. At the bottom of this card was noted ""we did additional testing after she passed and guessed that she could have lived at least 5 more months. I DID NOT WISH ANYONE TO INVADE HER REMAINS. I guess some get into this career because they truly do care (Pet's Unlimited) or they choose this career as a big paycheck! STEER CLEAR OF THESE PEOPLE. If you care, proceed with caution!! I have a dog and cat, and have been going to Sunset Veterinary Hospital for the last seven years. I like all the doctors there, but Paul Bannow is especially wonderful. My dog and cat are both rescues and both shy. Dr. Bannow has an amazingly gentle touch with animals, and he is the most competent veterinarian I?ve ever met. He performs a very focused hands-on exam with my pets and can usually tell immediately exactly what?s wrong. When appropriate, he will run a lab test to confirm his diagnosis, but he never, ever orders unnecessary tests or medications. I?ve had the experience with previous vets recommending unnecessary tests, x-rays and even surgery. In contrast, Dr. Bannow tries to keep my costs down (and this is something he never mentions or seeks credit for, he just does it). But his top priority is clearly the animals? well-being, and he won?t hesitate to tell me when I need to do something differently, such as giving my dog fewer treats when she gets overweight. In short, his professional competence, his gentle love for animals, and his rock-solid integrity all make Dr. Bannow a true treasure.Read Less

I took my cat there twice. The first time they made us wait over an hour! A week later I had to take my cat back as she was not feeling well. When I saw their bill I was shocked! My cat's been to other vets before and no one has ever over-charged me like they did! I will never go back! Read Less
