Please question the options given to you at this clinic. I was quoted $3900 for a sub standard ACL surgery for my +100 lb dog. After calling many different places and researching on the net, I realized the best option was a TPLO surgery. I found a vet that did a tplo operation for $3500. Everything we read said that any dog over 40lbs should not have a (nylon) type surgery, a.k.a. fishing string! This place has nickel and dimed us for a while, but this was the end for us. Read Less

Impressed with the service and communication. Above and beyond, they included before and after photos of the areas they worked on my animal. I told them early what my budget was and they helped me keep to it. They called me during the procedure - I was expecting they'd find more to work on, but instead told me the procedure was going to run *less* expensive than what we'd agreed. Pleasant surprise! Our family dog Ethan passed away at Acadia clinic on August 25 2017Ethan was a companion dog for Morgan Autism Center. He was sweetist dog we ever knew.  This is my first time  to post yelp. Im here to express my deep appreciation to the professional services and love from Acadia clinic provide to our beloved dog. I'm so sad I have no dog anymore but know great  Dr. Curley. So I would like to share my experience.  Last year Dr.  Currley treated the rather complicated oral abscess.  He is experienced and caring. He explains all procedures, answered any questions . On discharge , Ethan received the cute colored copied booklet contain record s like  pictures of surgery , X-ray , etc. This summer Ethan diagnosed as  congestive heart with the fauly heart valve.   Dr Curly tried everything to save him .  We are thankful for providing cozy private room for iv treatment for last several days for Ethans life so family could stay with him . i choose to put him sleep .I truly thankful to Dr. Curley and stuff  helped Ethan from pain and fear, he passed away peacefully. Our three pets; 2 dogs and a cat have been patients of the Acacia Pet Clinic for 10 years. Doctor Curley did an amazing job, for our cat, Elmer, who was attacked by a wild animal, and needed his eye to be removed. The accident happened during the night, so we went to an emergency clinic across from Oakridge. They were very unprofessional, so the next morning we made an emergency call to Acacia, and they took Elmer in immediately. Dr. Curley performed the surgery on Elmer's eye. Elmer is great now, and is very happy! The bill for the surgery was much lower; about $900 cheaper than the estimation at the emergency clinic. Our dog, Franky, a dachshund, had a couple of incidents where he had back problems, and immediately after the phone calls, Acacia took him, and gave Franky the necessary treatment. Yesterday, Franky had a teeth cleaning, and a few teeth extractions. The vet. technician, Stephanie, did an amazing job on his cleaning. She updated us with everything that was going on, giving a full explanation of the procedure and payments, so thank you Stephanie! Franky's teeth is glowing in the dark! After every visit, Dr. Curley gives a full explanation of the procedure and necessary recovery steps to take while at home.  We definitely recommend this clinic; they are awesome! Read Less

A-OK, nothing really wrong with this clinic, however, the vet will really try to push you food products. (whichever they are sponsored by)Took my puppy there to get the rest of his shots and he didn't trust that he had already gotten the first two shots at the vet in San Diego... I was super annoyed. I ended up buying his puppy shot package ($145? range) which wasn't bad and it didn't hurt to get more vaccination.I also got judged by saying I kept the same food as the previous owner, Dr. Gary's Best Breeds. A very common DEATH among dogs is swallowing a sharp object that is not digestible.  COMMON!!!  This clinic missed it.  As a result my dog has passed away.  Instead it was "Give her two aspirin and call me in the morning" type of response. Dead pet due to poor diagnosis.  This clinic is all about making a buck and the hell with your pets health.  Please, avoid them and go elsewhere. Read Less

MY DOG HAS DIED AFTER ACACIA VISIT. My family had an 80 pound beautiful, healthy, young Bluetick Coonhound that was still with us only 48 hours ago. She passed at 5.5 years of age. Her name was Paisley. On May 15th, I had taken Paisley into Acacia pet clinic because she had stopped eating, barely would drink water, would lay flat on the ground still or not move a muscle for extended periods of time, and had visual swelling on her left side lower abdomen (approximately the stomach region). Our initial guess was bloat or some other stomach problem. We immediately brought her in for a full physical evaluation and expected the doctor (Shazia) to know what to do. The clinic performed a blood panel as well as an X-ray to determine if there was noticeable bloat. Neither test showed definite signs of problems, yet there was obviously something seriously wrong with Paisley. I was reassured by the doctor that a bacterial infection could have taken place, and that antibiotics would be a good solution for Paisley. We were given up to two weeks of antibiotics, and for the next weeks, we kept her on this regimen and monitored her as full recovery was explained to take possibly 3 weeks or more. Within the first week, Paisley became more active than before (considering she was almost bed-ridden prior), so we believed that things were getting better. Paisley never fully recovered, and just before we were to take her back in, she suddenly passed away the morning of June 18, 2017. Necropsy found an approximately 8-9" long barbeque skewer in her stomach that had punctured her organs, causing internal hemorrhaging, which she finally succumbed to. To all the dog lovers reading this, I find peace in knowing that she passed away in the comfort of her favorite spot on the couch, just after giving her last goodbyes. If I had even the slightest clue that her condition had come what it had, I can assure you she would have gone to the closest emergency clinic and receive all the care possible to comfort and heal her. However, having been told that that she was recovering from a bacterial infection (possible spleen/other organ swelling due to recovery) we did not believe she had swallowed such an object as a hard wooden skewer. Something like this should have come up on imaging, right? My wish is that no other pet or pet owner suffers a terrible loss as this one, especially for something that was so avoidable and fixable. The second vet I took Paisley to for necropsy asked if the skewer showed up on the ultrasound. But an ultrasound was never done. Why wasn't an ultrasound done? Dogs eat things, strange things, all the time. Why wasn't this included as a default detection method for Acacia? We rely on our vets, we TRUST our vets to do the things that we as dog owners may not know will help find the solution. Moreover, we reviewed the x-ray that was taken and found that it was impossibly blurry (why wasn't the x-ray taken over?) such that one could barely even make out the stomach or other organs which are typically visible to some degree. Multiple ghost images of the spine suggest that the x-ray was taken while there was motion, so of course the rest of the image was blurry. You will be charged almost $300 for an x-ray that they don't even quality check. They should have taken it again! You don't have to read too far into the comments to make a good assessment on the quality of Acacia pet clinic. If you want to get your pet's vaccines taken care of, then Acacia is probably sufferable. However, if your pet has a serious problem, DO NOT TAKE HIM/HER TO ACACIA PET CLINIC. My future pet and all the pets of all my friends, family, and acquaintances will NOT EVER be going to Acacia pet clinic as they will take your money and ask what YOU want to do with your pet as opposed to telling you what needs to be done. THAT is a risk I hope no other pet owner gambles with, ever. Read Less

I've past by this vey all my life and never thought much of it until I needed a vet for my guinea pig. Emily some how messed up her eye either by her or something in her cage, but it was bad. Her regular vet wasn't available for a week and I was panicked. I called Acacia and they said they would look at her. A five minute drive later, I was there and staff was very sympathetic over her. Dr. Curley was so nice and prescribed eye meds. He was in no rush and made sure I knew everything about guinea pigs and answered all my questions. A week later, no improvement on her eye, so back to vet. They took her right in. Vet suggested surgery and I cried. Paid a small fee for the day she was kept there. The morning of surgery,  the vet called and said a miracle happened and a scab formed which was a good sign. Vet said she's eating and looks happy. Picked her up and Dr. Curley came out to talk. I was so relieved. Emily is doing fine for the moment. The staff here were extremely kind and sentimental. They know how much you care for your animals and treat them like they are people. I will continue to bring Emily here. I am ecstatic for the care she received and the minimal cost. Thank you Dr. Curley and staff. You saved my Emily! Read Less

We brought our dog in to get a mass removed and it felt like going to a great human hospital with how much they seemed to care. The doctor came out and talked to me while they processed paperwork which immediately made me feel at ease. Everything turned out great, thanks! Read Less

Love this pet hospital! Dr. Curley is great and we really love Dr. J! Friendly, informative and they take their time explaining things. Free exams for newly adopted pets from the shelter. They even have a little kids play area so my toddler can have fun while in the waiting area. I highly recommend them! Read Less

Knowing that things were not looking good for our rat Master Splinter the doctor was awesome in explaining everything even with a 5 y/o listening. My 4 kids came home knowing that we would try our best to keep him comfy for a while since he has a cancerous tumor. I was not aware that they only live a few years but his words set my kids at ease. We were given a Rx and hopefully it will give Splinter a few more weeks. I love love love the staff the doctor and cat's :)... I just moved to San Jose and was very excited about taking my two 3-month old puppies here because my family members highly recommended them. I made an appointment for 9:30am on a Monday morning. Figuring the initial vet visit would be about a half hour or so, I arranged my schedule so that my other appointments would all line up. At 10:03am I was still waiting...yes, you read that right, I was by myself with two squirmy, hyper puppies and they left me waiting for over a half hour after my scheduled appointment time. I understand that sometimes things happen, like an emergency that needs immediate attention, but no one apologized or explained what was happening, and why the doctor was running late. It was my first time at the clinic and they just left me sitting there, wondering what was going on.  When the tech finally came out to get me (I was waiting in the parking lot to be courteous to the staff and other patrons, since one of my pups is a loud whiner) there was another dog inside. I'd explained on the phone that one of the puppies is leash reactive, and couldn't be around other dogs until he'd had more training, yet that was the moment they chose to try and bring us in. At that point I was done--I not only had another appointment to get to, I also realized the lack of attention and customer service were not going to work for me. I truly wish they'd made a better first impression, but unfortunately that's not the case. If you decide to try this vet, be prepared to feel like you, your animal, and your business don't matter to them. Good luck! Read Less

I have been coming to Acacia Vet Clinic for 5 years. I have taken my two cats on numerous occassions and have only been charged for the consultation on a few occasions. I have never been asked to put my cats through unnecessary procedures or overcharged. I recently took my newly adopted dog to Acacia and my consultation was free of charge. I was given wonderful advice on how to care for my dog's particular breed. Once again I walked out happy. Acacia has never done me wrong which is why they continue to have me as a costumer for life. I've been taking my pets to Acacia for 35-40 years. The care we've received has always been kind and loving. With their help my dogs have lived long, healthy, happy lives. When are cat needed to be put down they were very sweet and supportive. On another occasion we tried to bring in a cat that was feral and have a collar put on. Unfortunately there was some miscommunication about the process and timing. The cat needed to be sedated to have the collar put on and they needed to be sure the cat had enough time to wake up before they closed. I just wish we knew ahead of time. Overall good experience. Having been taking my pets here for well over 25 years. They always provide wonderful care at a competitive price. I've seen both doctors for my pets but Dr. Curley is the one that did my most recent pet surgery. My daughter has a German Shepard Dog that has severe hip dysplasia. A year ago, Dr. Curley fixed his left hip and this year he did the other side. Everything went well again and the dog is up and running around, getting into trouble as usual. Read Less

CAUTION, do not take your pet to this hospital. Prepare for a shake down if your dog is not well. The vet is either not experienced(not great for your pet)or he is a crook(not good for your wallet). I was fine with the initial fee, but he wanted to charge $250 for an Xray. There was no reason for an Xray. He then charged me $45 dollars for meds, I found them online for $15. First red flag. I took him to a another vet. He knew right away by looking at his face that my dog had an infection. He prescribed antibiotics and he will be pulling his teeth out. The vet agreed there was no need for an Xray, he could tell right away that my dog had an eye infection. Word of caution, DO NOT go to Acacia Pet Clinic. Read Less

Doctor Curly is the best!   I have two dogs and I feel confident they are getting terrific healthcare from a very knowledgeable veterinarian who is a true animal lover.  He is gentle and very sweet with my dogs.  He's respectful and kind with my daughter and myself.The front desk staff always look a bit tired to me.  I wouldn't say they are exactly welcoming, but they are efficient and polite.  The location is convenient, lots of parking and safe. Started coming here many years ago when I needed a vet for our Guinea Pig & have never felt the need to leave. 2 dogs & 3 Guinea Pigs later they are still friendly & helpful. Outside of the standard check ups, they helped save one of my dogs when he was poisoned somehow , neutered the male GP my daughter brought home whe we had a female here already & did a great job on our dogs dental cleaning. I went here initially because the Yelp reviews were so high.  My experience has been ok, but I do think I will go elsewhere now for anything other than routine care.The folks are nice and caring, but I do not feel the medical care, aside from routine health exams, is on par.  For about 3 years my dog had an issue with her hind legs.  I spent a lot of money here trying to get an answer and each time walked out with no answers and lot less money in pocket.  I should also mention that once they did the xray and it wasn't even the right area...they redid it no charge but still...I was recently at an emergency clinic for an unrelated issue and they were able to tell me exactly what was wrong with her legs and how to manage it.The other thing that somewhat bothers me is being sold their "prescription" dog food under the guise that it is healthy and will help her issues.  Have you read the ingredients?  That's a bag of corn.  An expensive bag of corn with no nutritional value.  Dogs don't eat corn.  My dog is on Canidae brand which is a far superior food (it's actually meat!) so I was a little put off by being told to switch to theirs.  I've done some extensive research on dog food...and Hills brand is something I would stay away from completely.  I wonder if vets are subsidized by the food company they push...All in all, the place is ok.  I should mention a couple years ago my dog needed a tumor removed and they did a wonderful job. I have brought two of my dogs here and they have been much better than expected. First time was with my previous dog a 90lb American Bulldog who had a foxtail deep in his flesh between his toes on his front paw. Dr. Barr used some tong like instrument to fish around and managed to pull that sucker out. Saved me hundreds on having it surgically removed. Second time was with my 10lb Rat Terrier Mix who had been having diarrhea that turned into watery bloody stools. Went in, took a stool sample because my dog happened to go right on the exam table(don't worry they cleaned/disinfected immediately after taking sample), prescribed medicine/I D diet, and now he has improved drastically. I was most impressed with the follow up on how my dog is doing and the genuine care for him even though my cheap butt always tries to fanagle the price. Back for another edition of ripping and bashing of another local shop, this time Acacia congrats you made the list!!..."Ladies tell them what they've won", ~~ You have just won yourself a 1-star rating from yours truly~~So I think this was the second timecoming  here, don't really know what happened the first time as we just did normal checkup and shots but the recent story goes like this:Ordered Meds online from 1-800 Pet Meds, needed paper work from Vet (that being Acacia Pet Clinic) to fax the paper work over for our dog to Pet Meds or e-mail them to us and we can send them in ourselves to get our Heartguard and Advantage medicine ordered.  Their response "We don't deal with 1-800 PetMeds due their poor customer service and history we have with them"....ok fine what do we do now?...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Well you can order them off our online pharmacy website as our doctors take a look at our dog's records"...seems like she was close for her yearly check-up and shots so we went ahead and coughed up the money early got her shots done too which were really expensive as is the case with most places....The order was placed online before her appointment, even received an order confirmation and shipping notice...the lady at the front desk did not say we needed to do anything further, nor did any of the e-mails say that our order was canceled as we got a notice that the package has been shipped....So two weeks pass by and we get the Advantage flea medication, where's the Heartguard????We waited about another week or so thinking it may have gotten delayed, still didn't come...I send them an email with the order number and shipping confirmation e-mail asking them "what happened"....no response....then I call them they said we will need to investigate and see what happened...they call back saying that "the order was canceled by our pharmacy"???....how when I already received 1/2 of the order contents already you smuck!!!...."yeah we don't know what happened but you needed to re do the order as it was initially denied"...if the order was denied why did i get the 1/2 of the order, why wasn't there an e-mail sent of cancellation of the Heartguard...?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~btw when i ordered from 1-800petmeds.com they sent me an e-mail notifying me that i have 7-10 days to verify and fax over required paper work...i did not they notified me with an e-mail letting me know that my order was canceled and even sent me a hard paper copy in the mail letting me know that "the order could not be verified please contact us if you have obtained the verification forms we requested as this order has now been canceled" ***Good communication with customer***  So Acacia Pet Clinic doesn't do business with 1-800PetMeds anymore because they have poor customer service...I think it's the other way around as they could learn a thing or two from them!!! The staff is always so sweet, and the doctors really take the time to explain everything and take care of my dog. I was so surprised when Dr. Curley took the time to clip my dog's nails and administer her shots! Usually the techs do that stuff! I highly recommend this clinic. Read Less

I have had a few dogs in my life time but I can honestly say I have never felt so pleased with a veterinarian as I have with Acacia! Their staff has always friendly and thorough about everything they do. They are helpful and just all around caring people. Ive dealt with clinics that made me feel they were going to offer me every service under the sun to get me to pay for additional services not needed. Acacia is not like that! They are real and that is not easy to find. I would recommend them to anyone that wants complete satisfaction from their animal. Read Less
