I cannot stay quiet anymore, we took our 13 month old french bulldog in because he was breathing funny during operating business hours. They hit us with a $200 emergency fee. Of course, we pay it. They have my dog for an hour, and tell us he is sedated and on the breathing machine, and tell us that they do not know what is wrong with him. 30 minutes later, they tell us that he is stable. Another 30 minutes, the Jorge Jaime Gutierrez Flores, the vet, tells us that they still do not know what is wrong with our dog, but proceeds to tell us that he needs to do x-rays, catheter, and other things and give us an estimate bill of $857 to continue. Why wasn't the x-ray done when we first got there? About 3 hours in, he tells us that it doesn't look good, and kinda does the head motion and arm action that he still doesn't know what is wrong. He then brings us to the back to look at the x-rays to tell us that there is fluid in the lungs and abdomen, and keeps telling us that he still doesn't know what is wrong. He then tells us that he is going to send the x-rays to the emergency hospital, but it will take 30 or so minutes to get a response. 20 minutes later he then takes us to the back where our dog is sedated and on the breathing machine. He tells us that he will be waking up from being sedated and it will go bad. it's about 2:45, and tell us that they close at 4pm, and we need to get him to the emergency hospital, which is 20 or so minutes away. Why didn't we do that when he told us he didn't know what was wrong with our dog. Our dog wakes up, and everyone is in a panic. I asked him what the radiology report said, and he said it was inconclusive. A lot of time has been wasted, then they tell us that they'll inform the emergency hospital that we are coming, but before we could get our dog and leave, they had to get our final bill ready. We are losing valuable time. I go up to pay my bill, but it is not ready, the person behind the desk, said he had to ask the vet to go over the final bill so they don't miss anything. It took them 10 minutes to get my final bill done. By this time, my dog is off the breathing machine, looking horrified. My wife and I grab him, and take him to the car and drive off. One minute into the drive, he stops breathing. We turn around, get back to San Jose Animal Hospital, where they perform emergency CPR, but to no prevail, our dog could not be revived. We are hysteric, and can't believe what has happened. Furthermore, they gave us 3-5 minutes to grieve before someone coming in to check on us, where each time they said they close at 4pm. This must of happened 5-6 times. It just felt like we were being pushed out. Also, during the first interval of grieving the vet tech came in with urn catalog, and was telling us it'll be expensive around $300 to cremate and to put him in an urn. She ran my credit card and was happy to tell me that it was only $200, why are we talking about money? They had no problem taking my card and swiping it, why is it any different from them swiping about the price of the urn. My wife and I felt that their was a lack of compassion, a lack of professionalism, a lack of knowledge on their part because we had our dog there for 4 hours or and we still do not have an answer why our dog passed away. Also, they were very reluctant to give my dog's records to our vet, and then when I called, they were whispering he wants the records, he wants the records, like it was some big secret. They sent the records, but without the x-rays and the radiology report which i paid for. This just doesn't feel right. I hope something occurs from this complaint, we would not want anyone else to have to go through what we had to endure. A lack of compassion, professionalism, and competence... We never got a follow up call or anything... I just hope NO ONE every has a situation like ours. It's been almost 2 months, and it hasn't gotten any easier, we do not have any closure or a conclusion. We are left without any answers... Read Less
