I love this place. I have a little ball python and she recently got sick and I took her there and they treated her very kindly and showed her love and thought she was the cutest which made me feel good about taking her there and Dr. Young was great he put her on a medication even though I have to inject her with antibiotics he prescribed the gentler one that wouldn't put her in more pain than she already is and also told me that if I'm having problems with the injections I can just bring her in and they would do it for free. Where other places they charge you for them to do the injections for you. With hour of research before bring her there I thought I was going to pay an arm and a leg for her medicine but I didn't even pay $100 for the check up and the medication. I'm very grateful to Dr. Young and his staff and I recommend everyone to bring their animals here.

I've been taking my animals to this practice for many years and would never think of going anywhere else. The staff is friendly, compassionate, the doctors are always considerate and caring and willing to spend some time to explain procedures or conditions and options for treatment and care. The fees are reasonable and I don't feel like I have to hand over my wallet every time I bring an animal in for "additional tests or products"... I never feel "sold" I always feel like my animal just got the best care possible.

Our cat is 17 years old and became very skinny in a matter of months. I suspected hyperthyroidism, due to my extensive veterinary knowledge, but wanted a sure diagnosis and the correct medicine. We called many different vet clinics, but the customer service and price I got from Discovery Valley stuck with me, so we went. Dr. Young was courteous and wanted what was best for our cat, being careful with her fragile and old body, and giving us the best option to keep her healthy and cure her easily. Though we did not buy the medicine with them, we come in for followups and Laura is always very helpful and sweet while we wait for the doc. Double thumbs up for the both of them!

I was looking for a vet that was obviously knowledgeable on reptiles and would take one a look at my reptile ASAP.
One of my Frilled Dragon, who had a prolapsed colon, was taken here and evaluated. The staff knew what to ask and were also knowledgeable on reptiles. It was an easy process and talked about the methods he was going to use and the approximate price range. Let us just say he is affordable compared to other prices out there and super kind to us and our child (dragon). He was sutured up and we took him home. Now just hoping he recovers okay. If your reptile or any other pet is in need, don't wait and take him here, the longer you wait the worst it will be.

We were referred to Dr. Young via our friend who is a pro-dog/cat/other animal caregiver/sitter. We split our time between West Hollywood and Carlsbad and could not find a single practice DVM in North County. Delighted at Dr. Young. His knowledge and breadth of experience from exotics, to cats to our blend of a Golden-Whippet comes with kindness and care. Maybe most important, he listens. Then starts his diagnoses. Prior to any testing, he discusses the benefits and the pricing. As patients, we can then make an informed decision. Dr. Young is conservative where he feels less is more -- and jumps in where he feels timing is critical. The office and tech staff are gentle and welcoming. Great operation, you can feel it from the top down.

I moved to San Diego about 2 years ago. I am an unusual customer in that I have 22 animals. Horses, sheep, goats, cats and dogs. My livestock vet (Dr. Perry, who is also wonderful) referred me to Dr. Young. I have never had such a wonderful experience with a vet. Just to relay one experience, our beloved dog is 14 years old. She had was very sick and Dr. Young had to refer me to an oncologist, internist and surgeon. I did not spend one dollar with his clinic and he followed up on every test and called me to assist through the difficult process of determining what to do with a senior pet who had cancer. Additionally, I love the vets he referred to me to. He knew their qualifications and skill level. We decided to have the surgery and our girl is doing fantastic. She healed beautifully and is at the top of her health for a senior. Dr. Young, along with his team of Michelle, Angel and Laura always know who you are, remember your pet(s), and care about them for you as family. I can't say enough about this practice. Over the two years, I have had many great experiences at Discovery Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Young really cares about you, your pet and your budget.

It is hard to find a a great reptile doctor. I was given a desert tortoise who could barely walk. After being examined and x-rayed Dr. Young found that he was lacking calcium because of poor nutrition and made suggestions to get him back to good health. He also cares for a friend of mine's Galapagos tortoises who weigh in the range of 700 pounds. He, of course, has to make house calls for these big guys and that speaks volumes of the care he has for all animals. I'm so happy to call him my pet's doctor.

Dr. Young makes sure to discuss every option available and is always looking to save you money by trying less invasive options when an issue arising before going straight to surgery, etc. I took my new puppy here, and I won't be taking her anywhere else!

The staff at DVAH is fantastic - everyone there; Amy, Junior, Laura & Dr. Young himself are all so professional and caring. I recently had a pet pass away and Dr. Young gave her the best care possible and more support for me then I ever imagined. While he's not the most overly touchy-feely guy, he is just what you'd want from a doctor and an advisor in any situation. He's extremely knowledgable about all the available options and even discusses controversial treatments.

My experience at San Marcos Animal Hospital was nothing short of phenomenal. The Dr. Actually seems to care about the animals he works with and the staff is knowledgeable and kind. The office itself doesn't look nearly as modern or fancy as some other animal hospitals in the area which is why I assume the establishment can offer cost effective/affordable pet services. If you care about how your pets are treated and you don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on services your pet doesn't really need go to San Marcos Animal Hospital!

Our cat is 17 years old and became very skinny in a matter of months. I suspected hyperthyroidism, due to my extensive veterinary knowledge, but wanted a sure diagnosis and the correct medicine. We called many different vet clinics, but the customer service and price I got from Discovery Valley stuck with me, so we went. Dr. Young was courteous and wanted what was best for our cat, being careful with her fragile and old body, and giving us the best option to keep her healthy and cure her easily. Though we did not buy the medicine with them, we come in for followups and Laura is always very helpful and sweet while we wait for the doc. Double thumbs up for the both of them!

I was looking for a vet that was obviously knowledgeable on reptiles and would take one a look at my reptile ASAP.
One of my Frilled Dragon, who had a prolapsed colon, was taken here and evaluated. The staff knew what to ask and were also knowledgeable on reptiles. It was an easy process and talked about the methods he was going to use and the approximate price range. Let us just say he is affordable compared to other prices out there and super kind to us and our child (dragon). He was sutured up and we took him home. Now just hoping he recovers okay. If your reptile or any other pet is in need, don't wait and take him here, the longer you wait the worst it will be.

We were referred to Dr. Young via our friend who is a pro-dog/cat/other animal caregiver/sitter. We split our time between West Hollywood and Carlsbad and could not find a single practice DVM in North County. Delighted at Dr. Young. His knowledge and breadth of experience from exotics, to cats to our blend of a Golden-Whippet comes with kindness and care. Maybe most important, he listens. Then starts his diagnoses. Prior to any testing, he discusses the benefits and the pricing. As patients, we can then make an informed decision. Dr. Young is conservative where he feels less is more -- and jumps in where he feels timing is critical. The office and tech staff are gentle and welcoming. Great operation, you can feel it from the top down.

I moved to San Diego about 2 years ago. I am an unusual customer in that I have 22 animals. Horses, sheep, goats, cats and dogs. My livestock vet (Dr. Perry, who is also wonderful) referred me to Dr. Young. I have never had such a wonderful experience with a vet. Just to relay one experience, our beloved dog is 14 years old. She had was very sick and Dr. Young had to refer me to an oncologist, internist and surgeon. I did not spend one dollar with his clinic and he followed up on every test and called me to assist through the difficult process of determining what to do with a senior pet who had cancer. Additionally, I love the vets he referred to me to. He knew their qualifications and skill level. We decided to have the surgery and our girl is doing fantastic. She healed beautifully and is at the top of her health for a senior. Dr. Young, along with his team of Michelle, Angel and Laura always know who you are, remember your pet(s), and care about them for you as family. I can't say enough about this practice. Over the two years, I have had many great experiences at Discovery Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Young really cares about you, your pet and your budget.

He is very kind, does not perform tests when they aren't necessary, and has been very helpful with many issues with my dogs. I also attended a free seminar he conducted at Dogtopia where he went over health concerns with dogs. He gave great information!

It is hard to find a a great reptile doctor. I was given a desert tortoise who could barely walk. After being examined and x-rayed Dr. Young found that he was lacking calcium because of poor nutrition and made suggestions to get him back to good health. He also cares for a friend of mine's Galapagos tortoises who weigh in the range of 700 pounds. He, of course, has to make house calls for these big guys and that speaks volumes of the care he has for all animals. I'm so happy to call him my pet's doctor.

Dr. Young makes sure to discuss every option available and is always looking to save you money by trying less invasive options when an issue arising before going straight to surgery, etc. I took my new puppy here, and I won't be taking her anywhere else!

The staff at DVAH is fantastic - everyone there; Amy, Junior, Laura & Dr. Young himself are all so professional and caring. I recently had a pet pass away and Dr. Young gave her the best care possible and more support for me then I ever imagined. While he's not the most overly touchy-feely guy, he is just what you'd want from a doctor and an advisor in any situation. He's extremely knowledgable about all the available options and even discusses controversial treatments.

My experience at San Marcos Animal Hospital was nothing short of phenomenal. The Dr. Actually seems to care about the animals he works with and the staff is knowledgeable and kind. The office itself doesn't look nearly as modern or fancy as some other animal hospitals in the area which is why I assume the establishment can offer cost effective/affordable pet services. If you care about how your pets are treated and you don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on services your pet doesn't really need go to San Marcos Animal Hospital!
