This place is THE WORST vet I have ever come in contact with. The people working here are completely incompetent, by leaps and bounds. I brought my cat here to get help with her urgent dehydration. These people are clueless to customer service, clueless to how to do their jobs. They sit around behind a locked door with all their pets running around and expect people to wait in their car for help. Zero communication. The front lady was a bitch, lack of better words. Anyone who came outside to greet me was a bitch for lack of better words. I immediately rescheduled my appointment to another vet that actually cares. They tried to tell me I can’t have my care credit card back, and they thought my dog was inside. I have no dog. They never saw my pet. All losers here!!! Money, Money, Money!!! Definitely not recommend to no one to use their hospital services. Me and my wife been there with our dog and all what they was care about is to write me an estimate instead checking my dog who was in pain. They taking advantage of people who having an emergency situation with their animal instead given a good service. I don’t care about the cost as soon as my dog will fill better but they are just trying to do 1000 test that not really necessary to make the bill higher. For there more they mixed him two different medicine that doing the opposite way and made him to feel much more worse then when I bring him in. Something that I realized after spoken with other veterinarian. When we called them after two days to explain them that he still not feel good and even worse they told me to come do X-ray and charge me 350$ and send me home to whit for the results. When the results came I get a phone calls saying that don’t see a foreign body in the stomach it’s may be a tumor but don’t come back here any more we don’t what to take care of your dog. I never expected to tho behavior especially not when I’m so frustrated trying to help my dog. Those veterinarian definitely do not need have a license to practice as a veterinarian and I will report on them to the state. What they did to my dog cause him a severe infraction and suffering it’s the worst experience I ever had. Do your self a favor and don’t come near this place ever if you care about your animal. The worst place I ever been!!! They even not worth one star review. Last weekend my dog didn’t feel good he was bleeding from his rectum and got nervous. I was so worried about him and took him immediately to the closest emergency room that I found next to me. They gave me to whit there long time while my dog doesn’t stop to shake saying he is stable. After long whiting they send one of the nurse to see us she just come to tell us that the Vete will come soon. When the Vete come finally she did not even check the dog only check for fever and heartbeat and then said she need to give us an estimate first before she do anything!! My dog was so scared from the situation and all what they care was about MONEY!! I was so surprised about they behavior. I never been in situation like that before but didn’t expected to get such a bed service like that. After 10-15 min she come back with an estimate of 1500$ without even know what my dog having. They only want to take advantage of their customer and make money. They don’t care about your pet at all only money!!! I told them that I can’t pay this amount and them they come back and saddle the prices come to be 250$ instead 1500$. They were able to save me and my specialty for my dog long time without all this games. They took him to the back of the clinic didn’t let me go with him and all what I hear that my dog don’t stop to crying there. After they finish god know what they really did my dog was even worst then when I come there he was Suffered severe pain. I don’t understand who can you treat him without diagnosed what he have. They send me home with two medicine that Whose actions contradict each other. Something I understand after spoke with couple different Vete. I took him hope the medicine will help but it’s just get worse and worse. I was so Frustrated seeing my dog suffering without know who to help him. I called two days after to ask what we need to do and been told to bring him again for X-ray for extra 350$. I come to do it they say from first lock the x-ray lock good but they need to send it to the lab and the results will be in few hours. I left home and after 3 hours they called me saying that they don’t think my dog have foreign body on his stomach but it’s may be a tumor. I started to be in panic ask them what to do next and just been told by this place to not call them again or come again that they don’t want to continue treatment my dog and to go different place without any explanation. First it’s not a way to treat customer, second very not professional. Day after I was so frustrated didn’t know what to do or how to help my poor dog who suffered so much. I didn’t slept all those nights cause he didn’t stop crying. Then I decided to go to his regular Vete at the pet smart even though I didn’t have an appointment. I want there they agreed to see me after I explain them what this place did to me. Finally he got first time something for pain and when the Vete see what meds you gave him she was in shock!! After few tests they realize that my dog having bed infection on his rectum. Probably caused or make it worse by your treatment!!! Bottom line people you can see from my long story what this place caused to me and especially for my poor dog they gave to suffer a lot and all what they want was money!!! Don’t go this place ever!!!! They don’t really care about your pet and very not professional Read Less

I came home yesterday to find my cat in pain and with limited ability to use his back legs. We rushed him here and found the service to be excellent. He was immediately taken into the back to be check before I even filled out any paperwork (this will vary based on your animal, injury, and the activity level when you arrive. In our case they were concerned about a potential blood clot or stroke). We waited for a while and then were moved to a private room where we waited a little longer. It was clean and chairs very comfortable though I personally was distracted by the sounds of animals in distress (not so much for me but for the stress it might be adding to my animal), not much they can do about that I imagine. They also had some children's magazines. Whay impressed me was the length of time Dr. Wolf spent with me (it was slower) going over potentials and costs. Before any actions were taken (including pain relief drugs) I was consulted and approved the price. It was expensive but that's the reality of veterinary medicine in the USA nowadays. We opted to do tests and had forgotten our credit card for the deposit. We were able to call over the phone when we got home with the number (and importantly were able to pick up the receipt when we returned). Joy the receptionist was great. We got a call 2 hours later with initial tests results and am estimated time for pick up. We were advised to call ahead just in case things weren't ready at the estimated time. We called and things were good to go. Dr. Wolf was busy when we discharged but ran out as we were getting in our car to make sure we felt like we were informed and ready. I really appreciated that because it was totally unnecessary. I got a call from Dr. Wolf in the morning exactly as I was told would happen updating me on further results. I anticipate the records will be transferred to our regular vet without issue. Overall, in a very upsetting and stressful situation I was confident my animal was getting good care. I don't know if it was excellent care or not (I like to think it was!) but all we needed at that moment was good care to stabilize the situation. I realize if we'd come at a busier moment perhaps there would've been more of a wait but it's an emergency center. That's what you get. The only disappointing thing was our final cost for the evening was $50 higher than the high end of the initial estimate. Not back breaking and I understand that costs in these situations can be very difficult to forecast but I could see if we were a family with a more precarious financial situation it could've been extra unexpected stress. I will be sending them a letter updating them on my cats final outcome since they invested so much attention and effort on him. Read Less

Dr. Barchas gave my cat Sebastian a very thorough examination, with a very disturbing finding: a mass in his abdomen. Sebastian had been given a clean bill of health by my vet only 6 weeks earlier, so I was skeptical when Dr. Barchas expressed how serious he thought it was. My vet saw Sebastian a few days later and also detected the mass. Tests showed that it was likely a lymphoma. I brought Sebastian home and his health seemed back to normal, with a healthy appetite. Then on Saturday morning, two weeks after he was seen by Dr. Barchas, I woke up to find Sebastian in great distress and near death--he died in my arms just five minutes later. I am grateful to North Peninsula Emergency Clinic for being open on weekends and to Dr. Barchas for his very thorough and professional treatment of my sweet, 14-year-old companion. Read Less

Huge thank you to the staff at this clinic - after my visit, I immediately began recommending it to my nearby friends with pets in the event they ever find themselves in need. My cat, who I'd been letting roam around our backyard, came home one day with a tender spot on her back. I watched it for the week, and because it began to raise and stay raised, I realized I needed to take her in to be seen, but my regular vet was not available. Thank goodness for North Peninsula Emergency Vet - they drained the bump and sorted her out with antibiotics and pain medicine. The only area in which I think they could improve, would be to get a receptionist to manage incoming calls, buzz people into the building, and check patients in and out. I'm not sure if they have one normally, but, when we visited, the vet-techs were responsible for doing this work- which appeared to cause a delay on incoming and outgoing patient management. At any rate, I 100% recommend this clinic if your pet is in immediate need of help. Read Less

STOP! Don't go here. Go next door to SAGE Emergency. Don't make the mistake I made. My cat was in distress and he was only 3 years old. It was midnight and we had to go to this hospital to try to save his life. We got to the door but it was locked. We had to wait for someone to answer. I told the woman that opened the door my cat was gasping for air. She took him but didn't let us in with her. Obviously my husband and I were also distressed. She came out and told us to go I to the waiting room. A few minutes later a non emphatic vet named Dr. Graham came into the room and said " your cat is dying". I said "if he€s dying bring him to me so he can die in my arms". Dr. Graham repeated that he was dying and stood there like a deer in the headlights. I scream to "get him now and let me have him" Dr. Graham took her time going into the other room but another woman came back in with my sweet boy already dead. I asked why they shaved his paw and was told they wanted to put in an IV but he was dying. So instead of giving my boy a shot to be more comfortable they let him GASP FOR AIR! Instead of allowing me to be with him to calm him down they allowed him to be on a cold steel table with strangers watch him die. Not 5 minutes later we were told €the cost will be $210 " and since we didn't have an exam we won't charge you for that part. So cold, no empathy, no consideration and apparently they did NOT follow procedure and let me be with him or even ask me if I wanted to be in with him. Those of you that gave this place 5 stars probably didn't have their pet die or have the vet just watch them suffer. My own vet told me this pace has an awful reputation and I should have gone to Sage but I didn't know. Now I do. I'm dealing with this sudden loss of my 3 year old cat; fine one minute and crying in pain the next. I'm not the only one grieving; his little buddy that he was bonded with is stressed and keep looking for him. It's sad all around. Avoid this place or at least the after hour vet. You need to be treated with consideration, respect and above all kindness. Read Less

This is not a vet. This is an emergency room! You should be prepared to wait for as long as it takes if your animal is not in distress and/or there are other animals being treated that are in worse shape than yours. I took my pooch here after she received a very nasty gash. Got her to the hospital around 9 PM, and had to wait 20-30 minutes to see a vet who apologized for keeping me waiting as another dog arrived earlier who was hit by a car. He took a look my dogs wound, suggested a course of treatment and told me he would call me at home once she had been fixed up. When I arrived at 2 AM to pick her up, they staff quickly processed me and we were on our way. Unfortunately, my girl has a lot of energy and pulled her stitches out a few days later and I returned. This time, I had to wait for 1 1/2 hours to get them to see her as again, there were two animals in respiratory distress and therefore a higher priority than my girl. They apologized again and fixed her up. During both visits, the staff was polite, caring and professional. But the best part: Ringo is a large cat, as in, he's too long for a cat carrier and a regular litter box, and he was 24 lbs at the time he went to the clinic, not obese, but he's a big cat. The vet told me to switch him to wet/canned food only - many a vet have suggested he lose a few pounds, but they always tried to sell me pricey prescription cat food. So, he's been wet food only and he's down to under 21 lbs! He has more energy and is jumping like he's a kitten. And has had no further constipation. So I appreciate being given information that was in the best interest of my cat, and not the vet's profits. Read Less

Such a caring group of people! I had to put my family dog down over the weekend and the staff was absolutely amazing. They made us feel comforted and cared for. Even the other clients there were sweet and friendly. The staff members gave our beloved Teddy so much love and attention during his prep. We worked with Dr. Eric Barchas, who gave us a step by step explanation about what was going to happen and what to expect. He told us he likes to be with the pet before hand to make sure this is the right option. You can tell they are passionate about working there and have a love for their clients pets. This was the first time I had to go through something like this, and they made the process as comfortable and easy as possible. Thank you so much for everything and being so gentle and kind.

Read Less

I have been here numerous times for emergency issues from my dogs slipped disc in his neck, to fox tail's getting stuck in either his nose or mouth - North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency has always been fabulous from start to finish. The staff is friendly as well as all the doctors :) Don't ever hesitate to bring your pet here. Lastly anything Veterinary related is expensive but I am so happy that my Pet Insurance has covered most of my vet bills. I could never put a price on my pet(s).

Both my dog and I hope to never go back: But it's nice to know they're there if we need them! Read Less

I brought my cat Ringo in because he developed some acute constipation, and it was Friday and no other clinics could see him until Monday. The receptionist was awesome, the doctors were great. He ended up needing fluids, anesthesia and an enema(s) and an overnight stay, so it wasn't cheap, but I thought their prices were fair. The place is clean and all the staff I encountered were professional and kind.
