General Info
SAGE is the SF Bay Area's largest locally owned referral veterinary specialty practice dedicated to orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, cardiology, oncology, internal medicine, neurology, physical rehabilitation and pain management, and emergency care.
SAGE’s state-of-the-art facilities offer the very latest in veterinary surgical and diagnostic tools. We have equipment to perform all orthopedic surgeries for fractures and joint reconstruction, neurological surgery including brain surgery, chest and abdominal surgery, reconstructive surgery, oncologic (cancer) surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. We also perform video endoscopy and abdominal ultrasound with guided biopsies. Sage uses digital technology for taking radiographs and we offer helical Computed Tomography (CT scan) in each of our facilities. Within our Campbell facility, Sage offers radiation therapy with one of the most advanced linear accelerators available in veterinary medicine.
Our centers may be high tech, but they’re high touch as well. You, your pet, and your family will wait in comfort in our beautifully designed reception areas. Should your pet need to stay with us, our indoor kennels are comfortable and kept meticulously clean by our caring staff.
We own and operate four centers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. All offer 24/7 walk-in emergency pet care and comprehensive critical care.

My wife took our sick cat into this clinic. Our cat was there one night and they charged $3470 and they had to put the cat down anyway. The initial charge to put our cat in there overnight was $1600, which I think is way too high. Then additional tests ran the bill up to $3470, which is crazy high. My wife did authorize them to do additional tests, but she was trusting them to have some sense of financial common sense. Do NOT trust them to have any financial common sense. They will run your bill into the sky. If you pay with a credit card, you cannot put a stop payment on the charge, as you could if you paid by check. I strongly advise going to a different vet who will not only care for your pet, but will have the ethics to check with you before running up an insanely high bill. Read Less

Excellent surgeon and after care. My dog had his CCL in his right knee repaired. The initial consult was scheduled quickly and the surgery to follow. The incision was small, he healed fine and according to the schedule they predicted, and it even came in hundreds of dollars under their initial estimate. My only issue was that they were perhaps too cautious - detected a bit of heart murmur and had me take my dog to a veterinary cardiologist 70 miles away to have his heart examined. Half a day, 140 miles driven and $600 later we now knew he had a typical 8yo spaniel's heart. Given how many 8yo spaniels VSA has treated I would have thought that was something they might have known about and saved me the time/trouble/money - it is a known but minimal risk. Poor guy is limping on the left leg now, so I will be a repeat customer very soon :-( Read Less

I brought my big old beautiful dog to this place. They failed in all respects. I asked for a biopsy and to check whether he had paralysis in his throat. They told me to expect to pay 800 $ but when I came back the check was 1800 $. No paralysis and no cancer! I was anyway happy. But the dot was not ok. We decided to remove the big mass that he had in his neck. Only after surgery (4000 $ !!!) I was told that it was inded cancer and that, yes, he had paralysis!! Having cut the tissues carelessly, the cancer had spread all over his body! Moreover, all the after care was not included in the 4000 $ ! The oncologist was a complete jerk. We put him into chimotherapy and my poor dog died 10 days later as a result of an inadequate dose of the chimo drug (and 2000 $). I try to forget the place and all what happened, but it is just too hard. These people where so cold, so focused towards money, and so unprofessional... Read Less
