They have kept all of our pets well, immediately responded during emergencies, and treated our pets (and us!) with kindness and empathy when inevitably we've had to make end-of-life care choices. After 20 yrs. of bringing my pets there they were rude and unprofessional. Refusing to cut my dogs nails if he does not have an exam. He is healthy and is having no issues that require an exam. There is no law mandating that an animal needs an exam to cut his nails. Just a way to rack up the vet bills. Numerous people I know have left Marin Pet Hospital because of very poor service. Professional staff, clean large waiting room and fair prices. They were able to see our cat right away and within 20 minutes met with us to discuss his condition. Wonderful place for your dog.  The first vet hospital in Marin I tried for my McNab Border Collie was okay; but the whole environment was corporate (if you can imagine).  And when my gentle rescue dog  freaked out upon getting a simple mouth swab, they put him under and he just lay in the hallway like a dead dog.  Scary.  So I ran into a guy at a park who recommended Dr. Bill Barboni at Marin Pet Hospital.  Turned out he was not only a capable and caring vet, he had a sub-specialty, so to speak, in border collies and other herding breeds.  Got right down on the floor and bonded with my skittish rescue dog like that.  Now my pup goes to see Dr. Shannon Leggieri who is just as wonderful, an enthusiastic and super competent vet who clearly loves her work and brings joy to it.  My dog did some tricks and she laughed like she was at the circus; it  was very endearing.  Pet hospitals can be scary places for a sensitive dog; the vet techs seem gentle and the front desk staff are accommodating, letting my pup come in through the back door so he avoids the occasionally crowded normal entrance.  The whole place is old school in the best kind of way.  Highly recommended. Jessica and Dawn at the front desk do a great job explaining meds and services and are personable. Scheduling with them is usually a breeze. Once in the office, the wait is always short. Our poor little pitbull Macy has had 3 surgeries, 2 of which were with Marin Pet Hospital and we couldnt be happier. We just had an excellent first experience at Marin Pet Hospital. We came to them for a second opinion after a frustrating experience at the VCA in Oakland where we had been taking our pets for years. We knew we needed to switch to someplace in Marin but where? They looked good on Yelp so I called. Jane was awesome at the front desk calming me and working within the confines of my schedule to get my sick cat in to be examined as soon as possible and Dr. Leggieri was excellent. She found the problem quickly and solved the problem (a 7cm blade of grass was stuck in my cat's nasal cavity.) Hard to find but great place.  We saw Doctor Joan when we had our emergency and we did not wait too long.  They took our dog in the back as we were too nervous, they did whatever they had to do and he is alive.  We had an emergency as he had HGE.  The staff was pleasant.We came back with our other dog to get her nails clipped and it was cheap compared to the City.  Very efficient, in and out quickly, the staff was still friendly. I have been sending my kitties to Marin Pet Hospital since 2006 and they have been absolutely wonderful. The quality of veterinary care is excellent and I have found all the vets to be extremely knowledgeable and very caring. The practice staff is excellent as well and have been there for me many times. We love, love, love Dr. Schoengart and this office. I can honestly say without exaggeration, Dr. Schoengart is the best vet my dogs have ever had. She is sharp, practical, clinically well-rounded, and has provided excellent treatment every time...no more than they need and no less. Because she is both smart and practical, she has continually provided sound advice. I completely trust her, which is so comforting because I am often anxious about my dogs' health. It's really nice to know they're in her hands. The front desk staff is also notably good. Dawn and Jessica are friendly, organized, helpful and have a playful sense of humor which is refreshing. UPDATE: The vet personally called me after my dog reacted to her antibiotics and provided two phone consultations without urging me to come in for an appointment. I really appreciate the commitment!The entire appointment was very rushed. I tried to ask general questions about my dog's weight and exercise, and all I got was "the leaner the better". I came in to get my dog's UTI checked out. The vet wanted to know if it was an internal or external infection, and was going to do a $90 urine analysis. She didn't end up doing the analysis because my dog had recently relieved herself. So instead, the vet gave me antibiotics for $25 that treats BOTH inside and outside UTIs. I would have paid an unnecessary $90 PLUS the cost for antibiotics. She was very nice, but I still felt her intentions were strictly money oriented (which I guess is understandable, as this is how she makes a living).I felt taken advantage of, ripped off, and rushed. I couldn't get any time to ask general questions about my dog. The most positive part was that the woman at the front desk was extremely nice.I would not return or recommend this vet to my friends. MPH has taken care of my beloved cat for 13+ years, and friends' cats for nearly 20. The practice came recommended by my aunt, a skilled out-of-town veterinarian, and I have been very pleased.One has only to look at the hundreds of photos of patient-pets on the walls to know how devoted this staff is to their clients. Not only the doctors, but also the office personnel are unfailingly polite, cheery and service-oriented.I've had a couple of emergencies with my pet and they've cared for him wonderfully. In addition he had an adverse reaction to inoculations and they tracked and mitigated it in later visits. The vets always, always take time to make sure that I, as a pet owner, understand the situation and ramifications of treatment options thoroughly. I recently switched vet's this last year from Camino Alto (felt it was more about money than my cat's wellbeing). My cat had to have a tooth removed and  minor complications happened after the procedure. Dr. Joan was AMAZING!  She followed up and they were very available in Ollie's after care. The care, kindness and professionalism is outstanding. I feel like my cat's health is the most important thing not of the "up selling" products/procedures. I feel so grateful to have found this place and that my little guy is in good hands. Dawn one of the office managers/tech is so on top of it. This is a wonderful vet.  We usually see Dr. Harris, but we've also seen the other two vets and have always received excellent care.  Dr. Harris always takes the time to explain what is going on and what the options are. She's very knowledgeable and honest.  We had our dog's declaws removed there and she received excellent care.  They called the next day to see how she was doing.  Her feet were too big for the standard post-surgical booties, so they took the time to fashion custom booties for her.  You really get the sense that your animal is the most important animal to them and that they go out of their way to give the best care. This is a really wonderful, caring place for my dogs.  I have two St. Bernards to one can imagine the logistical issues of getting that much dog to the vet at the same time.  My dogs are treated very well.  The reception desk knows them by name and always has a treat for them.  The care given is top notch.  We have had two different doctors, both of whom are very good with the animals. My local vet recommended my 4 yro Poodle/Terrier have a routine teeth cleaning, but quoted me $500, which was supposed to include a $200 discount, and did not include any extractions if needed. I was recommended to Marin Pet Hospital by a friend who lives in the North Bay and was extremely happy with their level of professionalism and care of her pet. The staff was extremely helpful, and even went through the trouble of contacting my current vet to have the blood work info transferred to their offices. The doctor was so warm and knowledgeable that I had no hesitations whatsoever. My little guy had to have one extraction, but even with that I still left for under $500.  They gave me the appropriate antibiotics and pain medicine for him. His recovery went smoothly and now his teeth look clean and healthy. The veterinarians really know medicine, and they make sure that I can make an informed decision regarding my pets' healthcare. This is a great pet hospital. My dog loves to come here. The owner is fantastic with my dog and his other associates are equally as competent. He is willing to call other veterinarians for consultations and is willing to step down and let a specialist take over a surgery. I know my pet is getting the best care possible at this hospital.
