I know this place is currently closed for animal services, however, this review is long overdue and may provide some insight into this place should it by some chance ever get its license back and re-open. Also please skip to the bottom of this review on info for those wanting records.I first found out about 17th Street Animal Hospital when my male cat Rascal had a really bad Urinary Tract infection. He has crystals in his urine that caused a blockage which in turn made his bladder swell up. My usual place I take my pets to wanted to charge a $150 a day to keep my Rascal hospitalized while he was being treated. I looked on yelp and found 17th Street Animal Hospital and seen all the positive reviews so I called them and got info. They only charged $40 a day to hospitalize him. Dr. Coghlan was the one who was treating Rascal everyday and he was hospitalized there for about 2 weeks. I strongly wanted to go with a surgery option but Dr. Coghlan advised that was a real last (and expensive) resort so he kept treating him. After many rounds of treatments including anti-biotics, removing clogged blood/urine from his urinary tract and starting him on a special food diet, he finally was able to cure my Rascal and his urinary infection has not returned since, and this was 4-5 years ago. Rascal has to stay on a prescription diet (Hill's C/D Urinary tract infection dry food) for the rest of his life and can no longer return to the regular store cat food, but its well worth it if it means him having a healthier, longer life. During my entire time Dr. Coghlan always kept me updated on Rascal's condition and any new developments whenever I called. He encouraged me (not that I needed it) to come in and visit Rascal whenever they were open as much as I wanted. I even was allowed to bring another one of my cats from home to come visit Rascal as my other cat missed him since it had been a week since he last saw him. Since then, I have brought my other cats in to 17th Street Animal Hospital for check-ups or whenever they were sick. I didn't get to see Dr. Coghlan anymore as he wasn't available at the times I went in, but I did see Dr.Vadadi (Sorry if I got this wrong) and Dr. Weber. Both doctors were great. I seen Dr. Weber more often and I can tell you he is awesome and shows a lot of compassion and explains things in detail. I heard he has moved to another location so I will be seeing him whenever my cats need a check-up. I've heard and read the accusations about Dr. Coghlan and why his license was revoked at the VMB website. All I can say is when I was in Dr. Coghlan's presence during Rascal's treatment, and subsequent visits after, I never once saw him in a condition or state that was anything but professional. As for others on here saying they can't get their records, I've still been going to 17th Street Animal Hospital to purchase Rascal's food, in fact, I just went this last Friday 8/11/17. I called before I went to make sure they were open and they had food in stock. I think they are open limited hours on Friday and Saturdays, just call to make sure. But being as they are open on these days, I don't see why anyone would have a problem getting their records. I would guess that is the reason why they are open limited hours, for food sales and records pick-up. Also, don't they give you a copy of these records when you go and have them done for your pet? ...anyway, hope this helps. One last thing in case anyone might be interested. I asked the lady last time I was there if there was any chance they would re-open as a full time hospital. Her response was 'We are trying to get our license back so maybe one more month'. However, I was told this exact same thing by another employee there a couple months ago.. 'Maybe be open again in one month'. Read Less
