I've met two vets here, and both are really great. They are friendly, very knowledgeable and experienced, and patient. They both have had great follow up in terms of letting me know test results and suggested treatments. They have seen my two rescue pits, one a senior, and I have been very happy with the care they have received. Front desk is also friendly and helpful. They don't make you wait weeks for an appointment!

One of our dogs had an emergency on a Saturday evening. We took her to the ER but she needed follow-up and I didn't want to go back to the Emergency hospital. We were so lucky to be referred to Dr. Sahyouni. San Roque Pet Hospital is open 7 days a week and they were kind enough to squeeze us in on a Sunday. Honestly, I can't say enough about the wonderful Dr. S! She is so compassionate, thorough, kind, respectful of my desires and all around fabulous. She guided us through this crisis and we are so grateful. My dog couldn't have gotten better care and the entire staff is kind, caring and professional.

I am redoing this review and i will add other info. Yelp took my previous one down for no good reason.SRPH was doing a basic checkup with our cat. She could be a little fiesty so they gave her Buprenorphine to calm her down. SRPH put down the incorrect weight which meant they gave my 4.5lb cat the amount for an 8lb cat. She had a stroke. She became worse over the next two weeks and she had to be put down. They took no responsibility. If you love your little ones go somewhere else! Oh and btw the timeframe in which responses happen doesn't matter so when it comes to your responses so try not being so flippant. Our little one, no names, was the light of our life. She had a huge heart and was loved more than anything. She deserved better from people "caring" for her.

I love this place and so do my pets! I switched pet hospitals twice over the course of several years and finally ended up here and wish it was were I had been taking my pets all along. The front desk staff is great...actually all of the staff is great but it is always nice to be greeted with a smile and people who actually try to get to know you a bit. There are multiple vets and, at first, I wanted to just have one main one there that I go to and my pets know but now I have had multiple and realize that all of the vets here are great! It is just really nice to go into an organization where you can tell the people working there are happy and like not only what they do but the people they are working with. It makes a huge difference. I also like all the services they have like boarding and grooming. I haven't used those yet but it is a big plus knowing those are there. So grateful to have found them!

A vet tech at another vet told us this after she looked at it for more than 30 seconds. 2. I bring my dog to them 3 times, she is very ill, and the miscommunication amongst the place has me leaving after spending $800 with no info on what is wrong with my dog or could be wrong with my dog. 3. they charge you a $75 cancellation fee if you are over 15 minutes late to an appointment but if you show up on time they can make you wait 45 minutes to 1 hour to see the vet. 4. the vet tech was trying to perform a test she had already had done a week prior and got angry with me when I told her this. They have vet techs running the place instead of vets.

I have been bringing my dog here for a little over a year, maybe a year and a half. I took her to La Cumbre first and was very disappointed. Then I tried San Roque and was very impressed. They always treat my dog so well, and she gets tons of love every time we are there. And we are there a lot because my dog has mast cell tumors. She has had a few surgeries there now and they have done a wonderful job. I feel very safe bringing my dog to San Roque. They have also provided excellent referrals when we have needed specialists.Dr. Moleski and Dr. Conant (sorry not totally sure I'm spelling their names right) are really fantastic vets. They take lots of time and care and always discuss all our options with me. They take the time to make me feel comfortable. The staff are also super friendly, and always tell me how much they love my dog. My dog is my baby and I'm really happy to have a vet hospital I trust.

Had a new guinea pig that took sick less than a month old. Brought her in to San Roque Pet Hospital and the staff and doctors were so considerate truly caring. I didn't matter that she was just a little thing, they wanted to bring her back to health. But she was too young to fight it off and eventually we could not save her. It was my first experience with San Roque but in the future I will bring any pet of mine to these wonderful people.

They said that she had to be a patient and although she didn't need what would be the third physical in 6 months (annual and flight certificate), they did need her records. I am so happy with my experience at San Roque and highly recommend them! We were camping and our dog got something stuck in his ear. They are one of the only places open on Saturday and they fit us in right away! The staff is super nice and the vet was so helpful and retrieved a foxtail out of our dogs ear, relieving his pain. My dog was coughing unexpectedly and just wouldn't stop--on a weekend, no less. I had no previous experience with that hospital so I was a "walk-in." They gave him all the required tests and offered a diagnosis. It wasn't cheap--but it was a lot cheaper than going to the other emergency hospitals in town. I was very grateful that they were there because my own vet is not available on weekends. I would definitely consider going back there again. Thanks for the good service, San Roque Pet Hospital!

My dog woke up paralyzed two days after being boarded here. I have to believe their boarding services and workers do not handle the dogs well. They will use a slip knot approach around a small dogs neck - a big no no as this can easily harm a small dog. I had to insist that my harness was used but I doubt it was used once the dog was taken behind the doors. It was my fault to assume that when I told them my dog required a gentle touch that they would do so. Who knows what happened but my dog was not acting right immediately after pickup and two days later she is dragging her rear legs around. Poor dog. Thousands were spent on emergency surgery and rehab and happy to report she is walking again.Additionally they will not provide records to another vet unless repeated multiple calls are made. Ridiculous. This isn't actually a surprise since every time you go in they have to ask you all the same questions again yet it appears as though they always log it into some computer system.Don't take my word for it - go in there yourself and look how they present themselves/reception area and watch how they leash up small dogs. Yikes. Be careful and good luck.It was my mistake to not move on from San Roque sooner.

I came to this vet clinic based on good reviews. I am very glad that I followed these reviews because I had a great experience. The staff were very friendly and professional and the Veterinarian that assessed my cat was extremely thorough. She was honest with me about my options, and did not push any un necessary treatments or tests. I highly recommend this pet hospital!

I love San Roque Pet Hospital! We have been going here since my puppy was eight weeks old and everyone has always been so kind. We did have a few appointments with a vet tech who was kind of harsh with us, but then we found Dr. Sweeney and I love her! I would say I am level 10 crazy pet parent and the friendly staff always takes my concerns seriously and calls back to check in on how my little guy is doing. I also have had appointments with Dr. Conant and she is great too. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone. San Roque has the highest quality care for pets around; they know Max is my family member, not just my dog.

This a review for the veterinary services (specifically Dr. Brand). My wife and I lived in Santa Barbara a few years ago and had taken our pet tortoise to see Dr. Brand a couple times while in town. We recently relocated to an area where there are no good vets that specialize in exotics. Our tortoise seemed a little under the weather recently so we took him to see a local vet to get him checked out. After taking some X-rays our new vet insisted that he had a severe blockage in his intestines and needed immediate surgery that would cost several thousand dollars and be extremely painful/invasive for him. We had been to vets before that claim to work with exotics but don't really know much about tortoises so we were a little skeptical and wanted a second opinion. My wife called Dr. Brand and even though it had been over four years since she had seen him she immediately remembered our tortoise. She was extremely helpful and took time out of her day to analyze the X-rays from our new vet and discuss what might be going on with my wife, all of this free of charge. To make a long story short our new vet had completely misdiagnosed the problem which could easily be fixed through some basic home remedies. In the end Dr. Brand's advice saved us quite a bit of money and, more importantly, spared our pet a painful and invasive procedure.

Not a good place to take rabbits!! I came to this place because I was too far away from my rabbit doctor at the time. I had Dr. Evelyn Brand as a vet for a couple months for my rabbit who was having eye problems. When I first went into to see her she did a stein eye test and I believe another eye test on my rabbit's bulging blue eye and ruled out glaucoma. She said the stein test was giving her weird readings but she thinks that it's not glaucoma. I was so relieved. She gave me some medication and the metacam helped my rabbit's swelling go down. The next time I came in, I was shocked my rabbit was going blind in the infected eye and I was super worried and she said "Oh we knew that was going to happen." But she never told me my rabbit was going blind!! I was so shocked and then later she went off topic talking to my boyfriend for like 20 minutes about her teeth, yes my boyfriend was engaging but she kept going on and on about dental and I thought it was really unprofessional. I asked her to engage with a rabbit savvy doctor I know to discuss my rabbit's eye problem because I wanted a second opinion, but she was offended and said "I know I look like I don't know what I'm doing but trust me I do a lot of research." She really doesn't know what she's doing with rabbits. She never got in contact with my rabbit savvy doctor either. I even found out she was a 4H rabbit breeder, which does not make me happy especially when she told me my rabbit was not a full breed (not that it even matters) and made my rabbit sit in an awkward position -__-. Sure it seems like I just don't like her, but guess what, months later my rabbit is going blind in both eyes, went to see a vet in my hometown and they ran a glaucoma test and confirmed she has glaucoma!!!! Thanks for nothing. This all could've been prevented! She ruined my bunny's quality of life with her pride and lack of education.

I called Thursday afternoon to get some medications refilled and they stated 2 out of the 3 meds could be filled, while they would have to run the 3rd by one of the vets. When I came in first thing Friday morning, they said the doctor still didn't confirm the 3rd medication, so I'd have to come back.HOWEVER, instead of filling the 2 confirmed medications in advance, I had to sit at the front counter and wait for over 10 minutes while 400 pills were being counted out.The sole purpose of calling the day before was to expedite the pick-up process and make it easier on staff. I guess calling the day before is useless then? This process can easily be streamlined to accommodate both clients and staff...I'm hoping future changes are made.

I love Dr. Brand at San Roque Pet Hospital. She sees all of my birds now, from songbirds and gamebirds to waterbirds and raptors. She really knows her stuff and has good resources if my birds come down with something mysterious. She's gentle, with excellent bedside manners for both me and my animals, and her staff is friendly and courteous. I highly recommend her expertise and skill, even if you're not in Santa Barbara. It can be very difficult to find a verterinarian that has more than a basic understanding of birds. Dr. Brand is one of those wonderful few!Oh, one last thing - they often have weekend apointments available! How amazing is that!!

As I waited, I noticed that the room I was in was extremely well taken care of. I had not been waiting more than 2 minutes when Dr. Dawson came in. He was very welcoming. As he started the introductory procedures, I noticed his attention to detail and care for my cat. He is very knowledgeable and was able to inform me of the proper care techniques for my 4 month year old cat. He didn't rush anything; was extremely thorough and considerate. He spent much time in making sure that my cat was okay and that I was well informed being a new pet owner. As I left, the staff was so great and took care of me well. Although their prices are a little above market price, I believe that it is worth paying the minimal extra money for the care and service they provide. I must say that my overall experience was very pleasant and look forward to building a relationship with San Roque Pet Hospital.

This is the best place! The front desk ladies make us feel like family. Our dog gets so much attention; he loves going there! The manager is so friendly. She came in the room while I was waiting and was very interested in my pet. The vet techs and doctors are always very helpful in explaining everything. I always feel very comfortable when leaving my dog in their helpful hands. I highly recommend going to San Roque Pet Hospital.

Last weekend I took my dog to Santa Barbara for the weekend. He had knee surgery earlier this year and the trip was his first time in the surf since last summer. While at the beach, Brutus (a 90 lb. Labrador) came out of the surf limping and hopping on three legs. Needless to say I was very concerned and not knowing where to take him to be checked, I noticed that San Roque Pet Hospital sponsored the dog poop bag dispensers at the beach. It was late Friday afternoon when I called, but Dr. David Dawson had me bring Brutus in. He was outstanding. He immediately examined Brutus, took digital x-rays, and recommended follow-up treatment by our regular vet, offering to call and send the x-rays her. I only wished I lived in Santa Barbara so we could see him all the time. Also learned that Dr. Dawson just bought the Montecito Pet Hospital so others will have the benefit of his very professional and compassionate care.

I do not agree with the negative review posted here because I have only experienced very positive things from San Roque Pet Hospital. The whole staff has always been very helpful, accommodating, compassionate, and helped me make informed decisions about the wellbeing of my pets. I have never felt that money was their main priority, and I know they would never try to perform an unnecessary surgery. I would highly recommend this pet hospital, and really hope people don't get discouraged over the negative post on this website. Also, when Care was operating out of that hospital, that was all of Care's staff and doctors, which I think has lead to this unfortunate review of the wrong practice.

The inaccurate comments above desperately need to be addressed. I am shocked by the outright lies and slander being stated above. She should be ashamed of herself . She ran over the cat, brought it in for treatment, then denied it was hers. The cat was severely injured with a hip fracture and needed surgery. (I find that necessary)She signed an estimate, authorized treatment and paid only part of the bill. A few days later, she called San Roque and was very angry about paying for a cat that was not hers. Question..is the cat hers or not? I think she is confused. If I ran over a cat and it had to have surgery, I would pay for it regardless. Then again, I'm from California and I'm an animal lover. When this cat was on its way to recovery, she wanted it back. BTW, San Roque absorbed the cost of the surgery. Animal first, money never. The cat is now doing great. Thanks San Roque for stepping up to the plate!!!

They take advantage of the fact that they are the only emergency animal hospital in SB (at least after CARE closed) so they stick you between a rock and a hard place - pay out the nose, or your animal may not live. They asked me if they could put a catheter in my cat, and of course I said ""do anything she needs to be well again."" They knew they had me. After only preliminary work, they wanted to charge me $1,700, and then $3,000 or more later for an unnecessary surgery. They know us Californians care about our pets, and their greedy capitalist hands can't wait to get your money. I am still battling with them to get my cat back and they don't call me as promised. They are sneaky, underhanded, for-profit and they should be ashamed calling themselves a ""caring"" animal hospital. They don't care about your animal, if they did, then they wouldn't make you go broke so you can't even keep it! Where will my cat go now? They said they might have to gas it, the pigs. Money first, animals later. Avoid these slime balls at all costs. If you can wait out the night or weekend to take your injured animal to an animal clinic at normal hours, do so! Can you believe that I'm even suggesting this? But I am because if you go to them w/ an emergency, concerned for the well-being of your pet, they will see dollar signs and take you for all you're worth. They should be ashamed of themselves.

They both have had great follow up in terms of letting me know test results and suggested treatments. They have seen my two rescue pits, one a senior, and I have been very happy with the care they have received. Front desk is also friendly and helpful. They don't make you wait weeks for an appointment!

One of our dogs had an emergency on a Saturday evening. We took her to the ER but she needed follow-up and I didn't want to go back to the Emergency hospital. We were so lucky to be referred to Dr. Sahyouni. San Roque Pet Hospital is open 7 days a week and they were kind enough to squeeze us in on a Sunday. Honestly, I can't say enough about the wonderful Dr. S! She is so compassionate, thorough, kind, respectful of my desires and all around fabulous. She guided us through this crisis and we are so grateful. My dog couldn't have gotten better care and the entire staff is kind, caring and professional.

I am redoing this review and i will add other info. Yelp took my previous one down for no good reason.SRPH was doing a basic checkup with our cat. She could be a little fiesty so they gave her Buprenorphine to calm her down. SRPH put down the incorrect weight which meant they gave my 4.5lb cat the amount for an 8lb cat. She had a stroke. She became worse over the next two weeks and she had to be put down. They took no responsibility. If you love your little ones go somewhere else! Oh and btw the timeframe in which responses happen doesn't matter so when it comes to your responses so try not being so flippant. Our little one, no names, was the light of our life. She had a huge heart and was loved more than anything. She deserved better from people "caring" for her.

I love this place and so do my pets! I switched pet hospitals twice over the course of several years and finally ended up here and wish it was were I had been taking my pets all along. The front desk staff is great...actually all of the staff is great but it is always nice to be greeted with a smile and people who actually try to get to know you a bit. There are multiple vets and, at first, I wanted to just have one main one there that I go to and my pets know but now I have had multiple and realize that all of the vets here are great! It is just really nice to go into an organization where you can tell the people working there are happy and like not only what they do but the people they are working with. It makes a huge difference. I also like all the services they have like boarding and grooming. I haven't used those yet but it is a big plus knowing those are there. So grateful to have found them!

A vet tech at another vet told us this after she looked at it for more than 30 seconds. 2. I bring my dog to them 3 times, she is very ill, and the miscommunication amongst the place has me leaving after spending $800 with no info on what is wrong with my dog or could be wrong with my dog. 3. they charge you a $75 cancellation fee if you are over 15 minutes late to an appointment but if you show up on time they can make you wait 45 minutes to 1 hour to see the vet. 4. the vet tech was trying to perform a test she had already had done a week prior and got angry with me when I told her this. They have vet techs running the place instead of vets.

I have been bringing my dog here for a little over a year, maybe a year and a half. I took her to La Cumbre first and was very disappointed. Then I tried San Roque and was very impressed. They always treat my dog so well, and she gets tons of love every time we are there. And we are there a lot because my dog has mast cell tumors. She has had a few surgeries there now and they have done a wonderful job. I feel very safe bringing my dog to San Roque. They have also provided excellent referrals when we have needed specialists.Dr. Moleski and Dr. Conant (sorry not totally sure I'm spelling their names right) are really fantastic vets. They take lots of time and care and always discuss all our options with me. They take the time to make me feel comfortable. The staff are also super friendly, and always tell me how much they love my dog. My dog is my baby and I'm really happy to have a vet hospital I trust.

Had a new guinea pig that took sick less than a month old. Brought her in to San Roque Pet Hospital and the staff and doctors were so considerate truly caring. I didn't matter that she was just a little thing, they wanted to bring her back to health. But she was too young to fight it off and eventually we could not save her. It was my first experience with San Roque but in the future I will bring any pet of mine to these wonderful people.

I just moved here and came to Yelp for this recommendation. I called them to request a nail trim for my young cat. They said that she had to be a patient and although she didn't need what would be the third physical in 6 months (annual and flight certificate), they did need her records. So they just called to say that she will need an exam and sedation to get her nails trimmed, "legally".Honestly the place smells and the girls at the front seem very conversationally challenged. #kittyspared

They are one of the only places open on Saturday and they fit us in right away! The staff is super nice and the vet was so helpful and retrieved a foxtail out of our dogs ear, relieving his pain. My dog was coughing unexpectedly and just wouldn't stop--on a weekend, no less. I had no previous experience with that hospital so I was a "walk-in." They gave him all the required tests and offered a diagnosis. It wasn't cheap--but it was a lot cheaper than going to the other emergency hospitals in town. I was very grateful that they were there because my own vet is not available on weekends. I would definitely consider going back there again. Thanks for the good service, San Roque Pet Hospital!

My dog woke up paralyzed two days after being boarded here. I have to believe their boarding services and workers do not handle the dogs well. They will use a slip knot approach around a small dogs neck - a big no no as this can easily harm a small dog. I had to insist that my harness was used but I doubt it was used once the dog was taken behind the doors. It was my fault to assume that when I told them my dog required a gentle touch that they would do so. Who knows what happened but my dog was not acting right immediately after pickup and two days later she is dragging her rear legs around. Poor dog. Thousands were spent on emergency surgery and rehab and happy to report she is walking again.Additionally they will not provide records to another vet unless repeated multiple calls are made. Ridiculous. This isn't actually a surprise since every time you go in they have to ask you all the same questions again yet it appears as though they always log it into some computer system.Don't take my word for it - go in there yourself and look how they present themselves/reception area and watch how they leash up small dogs. Yikes. Be careful and good luck.It was my mistake to not move on from San Roque sooner.

The staff were very friendly and professional and the Veterinarian that assessed my cat was extremely thorough. She was honest with me about my options, and did not push any un necessary treatments or tests. I highly recommend this pet hospital!

This is for same blood test that I have had done 3 other times for $88.00 and $135 with handling and shipping. San Roque tried to say it was an expensive test. I looked it up at lab that does test... Cost. $88.00.Stay away from this place. Not first tone have had issue with them but will be my last. Will never take any of our animals back there... We have 4 dogs sniff a kitty and we will find a better vet.

I love San Roque Pet Hospital! We have been going here since my puppy was eight weeks old and everyone has always been so kind. We did have a few appointments with a vet tech who was kind of harsh with us, but then we found Dr. Sweeney and I love her! I would say I am level 10 crazy pet parent and the friendly staff always takes my concerns seriously and calls back to check in on how my little guy is doing. I also have had appointments with Dr. Conant and she is great too. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone. San Roque has the highest quality care for pets around; they know Max is my family member, not just my dog.

This a review for the veterinary services (specifically Dr. Brand). My wife and I lived in Santa Barbara a few years ago and had taken our pet tortoise to see Dr. Brand a couple times while in town. We recently relocated to an area where there are no good vets that specialize in exotics. Our tortoise seemed a little under the weather recently so we took him to see a local vet to get him checked out. After taking some X-rays our new vet insisted that he had a severe blockage in his intestines and needed immediate surgery that would cost several thousand dollars and be extremely painful/invasive for him. We had been to vets before that claim to work with exotics but don't really know much about tortoises so we were a little skeptical and wanted a second opinion. My wife called Dr. Brand and even though it had been over four years since she had seen him she immediately remembered our tortoise. She was extremely helpful and took time out of her day to analyze the X-rays from our new vet and discuss what might be going on with my wife, all of this free of charge. To make a long story short our new vet had completely misdiagnosed the problem which could easily be fixed through some basic home remedies. In the end Dr. Brand's advice saved us quite a bit of money and, more importantly, spared our pet a painful and invasive procedure.

Not a good place to take rabbits!! I came to this place because I was too far away from my rabbit doctor at the time. I had Dr. Evelyn Brand as a vet for a couple months for my rabbit who was having eye problems. When I first went into to see her she did a stein eye test and I believe another eye test on my rabbit's bulging blue eye and ruled out glaucoma. She said the stein test was giving her weird readings but she thinks that it's not glaucoma. I was so relieved. She gave me some medication and the metacam helped my rabbit's swelling go down. The next time I came in, I was shocked my rabbit was going blind in the infected eye and I was super worried and she said "Oh we knew that was going to happen." But she never told me my rabbit was going blind!! I was so shocked and then later she went off topic talking to my boyfriend for like 20 minutes about her teeth, yes my boyfriend was engaging but she kept going on and on about dental and I thought it was really unprofessional. I asked her to engage with a rabbit savvy doctor I know to discuss my rabbit's eye problem because I wanted a second opinion, but she was offended and said "I know I look like I don't know what I'm doing but trust me I do a lot of research." She really doesn't know what she's doing with rabbits. She never got in contact with my rabbit savvy doctor either. I even found out she was a 4H rabbit breeder, which does not make me happy especially when she told me my rabbit was not a full breed (not that it even matters) and made my rabbit sit in an awkward position -__-. Sure it seems like I just don't like her, but guess what, months later my rabbit is going blind in both eyes, went to see a vet in my hometown and they ran a glaucoma test and confirmed she has glaucoma!!!! Thanks for nothing. This all could've been prevented! She ruined my bunny's quality of life with her pride and lack of education.

Dropped off my pup for boarding. they were very helpful with filling out the paperwork and you can get your dog walked up to twice a day for an extra $5 per walk. For them to give your dog a meal its $3 extra, unless you bring your own food for the dog then its free. It's $18 a night and you can pick them up anytime during office hours. I'll add more upon picking him up!

I called Thursday afternoon to get some medications refilled and they stated 2 out of the 3 meds could be filled, while they would have to run the 3rd by one of the vets. When I came in first thing Friday morning, they said the doctor still didn't confirm the 3rd medication, so I'd have to come back.HOWEVER, instead of filling the 2 confirmed medications in advance, I had to sit at the front counter and wait for over 10 minutes while 400 pills were being counted out.The sole purpose of calling the day before was to expedite the pick-up process and make it easier on staff. I guess calling the day before is useless then? This process can easily be streamlined to accommodate both clients and staff...I'm hoping future changes are made.

I love Dr. Brand at San Roque Pet Hospital. She sees all of my birds now, from songbirds and gamebirds to waterbirds and raptors. She really knows her stuff and has good resources if my birds come down with something mysterious. She's gentle, with excellent bedside manners for both me and my animals, and her staff is friendly and courteous. I highly recommend her expertise and skill, even if you're not in Santa Barbara. It can be very difficult to find a verterinarian that has more than a basic understanding of birds. Dr. Brand is one of those wonderful few!Oh, one last thing - they often have weekend apointments available! How amazing is that!!

I must say, I was absolutely impressed by the experience I had at San Roque Pet Hospital. When I first walked in, I first noticed the cleanliness and the abundance of staff members ready to serve. They were all very friendly and helped me immediately. They were able to get my prior vet's records before I showed up and the new client information was a piece of cake. Great start! As I waited, I noticed that the room I was in was extremely well taken care of. I had not been waiting more than 2 minutes when Dr. Dawson came in. He was very welcoming. As he started the introductory procedures, I noticed his attention to detail and care for my cat. He is very knowledgeable and was able to inform me of the proper care techniques for my 4 month year old cat. He didn't rush anything; was extremely thorough and considerate. He spent much time in making sure that my cat was okay and that I was well informed being a new pet owner. As I left, the staff was so great and took care of me well. Although their prices are a little above market price, I believe that it is worth paying the minimal extra money for the care and service they provide. I must say that my overall experience was very pleasant and look forward to building a relationship with San Roque Pet Hospital.

This is the best place! The front desk ladies make us feel like family. Our dog gets so much attention; he loves going there! The manager is so friendly. She came in the room while I was waiting and was very interested in my pet. The vet techs and doctors are always very helpful in explaining everything. I always feel very comfortable when leaving my dog in their helpful hands. I highly recommend going to San Roque Pet Hospital.

Last weekend I took my dog to Santa Barbara for the weekend. He had knee surgery earlier this year and the trip was his first time in the surf since last summer. While at the beach, Brutus (a 90 lb. Labrador) came out of the surf limping and hopping on three legs. Needless to say I was very concerned and not knowing where to take him to be checked, I noticed that San Roque Pet Hospital sponsored the dog poop bag dispensers at the beach. It was late Friday afternoon when I called, but Dr. David Dawson had me bring Brutus in. He was outstanding. He immediately examined Brutus, took digital x-rays, and recommended follow-up treatment by our regular vet, offering to call and send the x-rays her. I only wished I lived in Santa Barbara so we could see him all the time. Also learned that Dr. Dawson just bought the Montecito Pet Hospital so others will have the benefit of his very professional and compassionate care.

I do not agree with the negative review posted here because I have only experienced very positive things from San Roque Pet Hospital. The whole staff has always been very helpful, accommodating, compassionate, and helped me make informed decisions about the wellbeing of my pets. I have never felt that money was their main priority, and I know they would never try to perform an unnecessary surgery. I would highly recommend this pet hospital, and really hope people don't get discouraged over the negative post on this website. Also, when Care was operating out of that hospital, that was all of Care's staff and doctors, which I think has lead to this unfortunate review of the wrong practice.

She ran over the cat, brought it in for treatment, then denied it was hers. The cat was severely injured with a hip fracture and needed surgery. (I find that necessary)She signed an estimate, authorized treatment and paid only part of the bill. A few days later, she called San Roque and was very angry about paying for a cat that was not hers. Question..is the cat hers or not? I think she is confused. If I ran over a cat and it had to have surgery, I would pay for it regardless. Then again, I'm from California and I'm an animal lover. When this cat was on its way to recovery, she wanted it back. BTW, San Roque absorbed the cost of the surgery. Animal first, money never. The cat is now doing great. Thanks San Roque for stepping up to the plate!!!

God help you if your animal is injured - they will take you for a ride!!!! They take advantage of the fact that they are the only emergency animal hospital in SB (at least after CARE closed) so they stick you between a rock and a hard place - pay out the nose, or your animal may not live. They asked me if they could put a catheter in my cat, and of course I said ""do anything she needs to be well again."" They knew they had me. After only preliminary work, they wanted to charge me $1,700, and then $3,000 or more later for an unnecessary surgery. They know us Californians care about our pets, and their greedy capitalist hands can't wait to get your money. I am still battling with them to get my cat back and they don't call me as promised. They are sneaky, underhanded, for-profit and they should be ashamed calling themselves a ""caring"" animal hospital. They don't care about your animal, if they did, then they wouldn't make you go broke so you can't even keep it! Where will my cat go now? They said they might have to gas it, the pigs. Money first, animals later. Avoid these slime balls at all costs. If you can wait out the night or weekend to take your injured animal to an animal clinic at normal hours, do so! Can you believe that I'm even suggesting this? But I am because if you go to them w/ an emergency, concerned for the well-being of your pet, they will see dollar signs and take you for all you're worth. They should be ashamed of themselves.
