Negative experience at this hospital. We noticed our 2 year old dog limping about 2 weeks ago and took him into White's. They did an x-ray and Dr. Kelly proclaimed that he had a fractured toe even tho...
Negative experience at this hospital. We noticed our 2 year old dog limping about 2 weeks ago and took him into White's. They did an x-ray and Dr. Kelly proclaimed that he had a fractured toe even though it wasn't clearly visible on the x-ray. She proceeded to prescribe a treatment plan that involved 2 weeks in a hard splint, followed by 1 week in a softer splint/bandage. We wanted our dog to recover as quickly as possible so we followed her lead and kept him very sedated with a hard splint for two weeks.
When we took him back to have the split removed and a soft bandage put on, the treatment plan changed. She informed us (without taking another x-ray) that he would need another two weeks in a soft split followed by another week in a bandage. He was supposed to have extremely limited activity and absolutely no walks.
At this point I decided to get a second opinion, so I took him into La Cumbre Animal Hospital where they had two different doctors look at the x-ray. Both of them said they didn't see any noticeable fracture but wanted to send it to a radiologist expert to get a third opinion. Sure enough, the expert confirmed that there was no fracture and our dog probably just had a minor soft tissue injury.
We felt it was negligent of White's to not even giving us the option of having the x-ray looked at by a specialist or any other vets in the office. Because of this, we endured two weeks of unnecessary emotional pain.
In addition to the poor quality of care we received at White's, we also had to deal with an office staff that is rude and disorganized. It took me 5 different phone calls to get our dog's records sent to La Cumbre. That, in my opinion, is ridiculous and unprofessional.
Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. There are far better vets in the Santa Barbara area.
** Edit - White's agreed to refund us for all of the treatment we paid for so this experience at least has a silver lining.

Wow amazing customer service. I spoke with Cara (Kara?) in the office. She really went above and beyond to help me. I am not a client of White's but was visiting Santa Barbara and forgot my dogs pain meds at home. I called several vets and no one would help me but Cara really worked with me and did all she could to get me a few days worth of medication. Thank you so much!!

I whole-heartedly recommend the team at White Pet Hospital to you. We are from out of town and our cavalier dog needed urgent care and over two days we were able to meet two outstanding vets (Dr. McFarlin and Dr. Reid) and we were so pleased with their diagnostic and therapeutic skills, as well as their clear communication with us. Also, in spite of being a busy scene, the staff at the front desk was also very helpful and managed the activity well. While we were in the waiting room, we spoke with many pet owners who are locals and they raved about the great care the team at Whites' has given them over the years.

White's is the best! I recently had to put my dog down and they were all so compassionate and caring...I just couldn't believe how kind they were to me and we had never been there before. I would highly recommend taking your pet here. They are the nicest group of employees and they treated me and my dog with such kindness. Everyone that works here is wonderful. I was so surprised to get a card in the mail signed by everyone....it was just special so thank you for being so caring. It meant a lot to me and Im sure to many others!

They have helped us with our cats and dogs for 25 years. With each pet we learned to manage complex medical problems during the geriatric years due to White's guidance. And we've seen the same thing ...
They have helped us with our cats and dogs for 25 years. With each pet we learned to manage complex medical problems during the geriatric years due to White's guidance. And we've seen the same thing happen with friends who's pets seemed to be on their last legs. White's gave them hope, education, and a few more years. All three vets we've worked with have been outstanding. And they've been well balanced and supportive during the toughest decisions, with equal understanding of what our animals needed and what we could manage. We travel from western Goleta to see them because they are unmatched in Santa Barbara.

I have been taking my animals to White's since 1997. Dr. McFarlin is amazing with the animals. She is very knowledgeable, has diagnosed several difficult cases for me, consults outside experts when necessary, and got my dog through leptospirosis. Dr. McFarlin is always works very well with all my animals, often calls me on her days off with test results. She is very dedicated to the animals, is very hard working, and is always a lot of fun to see.I also love the hours at White's. Good to know that they are there on the weekends in case of emergency.LOVE Whites!

We've been going to White's for decades. Before that, we'd had some negative experiences with other vets. But White's is the best! Dr. Casaus is my dog's regular doctor and they don't try to assign us to anyone else. He is absolutely wonderful--wise, thorough, with lots of good common sense. He's a good communicator too. Several of the staff have told me that people come from out of state to see him specifically. Another good staff person is Mary Rose (not a vet). If I have a problem, I'll ask her and she can usually take care of it. Dr. Casaus always take our finances into consideration and doesn't recommend procedures that might not be necessary (not true of other vets in town). The only problem is that Casaus (and, I believe, McFarland) are only there 4 days a week. But he stays in touch and always calls if something comes up when he's off duty.

Normally I have had good experiences at whites, but during the most recent episode with my very sick dog, the staff at whites was incredibly rude, short and unhelpful. We have been at whites for nearly 15 years and have been nothing but loyal, kind customers. But when my dog recently went into heart failure, the staff was neither understanding nor helpful-they offered very little sympathy or advice and I was shocked at the candor of their speech. I spoke to several staff members throughout the morning, none of whom helped or seemed like they wanted to help whatsoever. Really very disappointed in the customer service and we will be switching vets as soon as possible

I want a vet that will be available when I need it & will feel grateful to have my pup as a patient not one who will tell me its a privilege for me to go to them. All this and she made wait five minutes on the phone, for nothing.

I've been taking my dogs to Whites for 30 years. Our first puppy lived to be 19 and got the best of care. He was a straight forward patient. Lived long and prospered. Got great attention and personal affection. Our next two passed away within months of each other. Gypsy was a medical mystery. She had Chron's disease for years and numerous affiliated issues. A number ofntwists and turns had Gypsy up and down ad up amd down Dr. McFarland literally brought her back from the dead four times. Gypsy became a medical miracle. Gypsy lived two years longer than could possibly be expected due to Dr. McFarland's efforts. At the end, the whole staff was helpful, kind and generous with their time. Dude came to an end this afternoon. It was a surprise. Dr. McFarland explained - in complete detail - how much pain he was in. Dude had lost a leg 15 years ago and suddenly developed an unsurprising spinal problem. Everybody at the front desk and all the technicians stopped in as we were saying goodbye to Dude. Whites has been helpful, informative and supportive for decades. I fully recommend them for medical care as well as boarding.

Review on Boarding Services and Veterinary Services:I have boarded my dog here quite a few times and I am always so comfortable knowing he's safe, being well taken care of and getting attention. I would normally never leave him at a vet's boarding, because the cages are always so small. However, the kennels are inside/outside with an open play area for daily attention. And the whole thing is SO affordable. In the winter, I was concerned about my dog being cold at night, and after I called to check in they intuitively asked if I was worried about it and assured me that there is warm water running under the concrete of the inside portion and that he was nice and warm and had his own bed (I brought his in). They recognize him when I bring him in - which is also reassuring.I had taken him to another vet in town for veterinary purposes because it stopped being realistic for me to drive to the Newbury Park Vet Clinic (his original vet), but decided he was so comfortable at White's and they seemed to know him, it made more sense to bring him here. We just had our first visit with Dr. McFarlin and she is FANTASTIC. I am SO happy with my decision to bring him here. Before moving to Santa Barbara, I didn't think vets would get as good as we had at our last home, but Dr. McFarlin and the staff at White's are so wonderful I finally feel a connection like I did before. I'm so happy and relieved.

If you love your pet and want that love to be treated with respect, go to White's. This is the best, most caring place you could imagine. The vets here treat the animal patients and the human people who live with them with the same diligence and support. We have three dogs and three cats, all of whom are kept healthy by White's. Our dogs are working field dogs and sometimes get injuries in the field. Their care and follow-up have been exceptional and Dr. McFarlane once saved the life of one of our dogs. All of the vets have the same value of caring about people as well as animals. The service is personal and decently priced and we have been blessed to find, in White's, a place that recognizes animals as part of the family..

I have used White's Pet Hospital for about 15 years. My dogs have had many challenging health issues. Dr. Cassaus has been amazing. He is knowledgeable but always explains the issues and helps me to make the best decision for my dogs. The front desk staff has been so helpful to me and my babies. They are always trying to make sure that my dogs get what they need when they need it. This pet hospital is busy because they are so great!!!!!!! Be nice to them when you call because they are busy and you need them!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will always take my dogs to White's Pet Hospital. AND! They are open 7 days a week!!!!!!!! How awesome is that? They also do acupuncture, surgery, and some homeopathic work. LOVE THIS WHOLE CREW!

Negative experience at this hospital. We noticed our 2 year old dog limping about 2 weeks ago and took him into White's. They did an x-ray and Dr. Kelly proclaimed that he had a fractured toe even though it wasn't clearly visible on the x-ray. Dude had lost a leg 15 years ago and suddenly developed an unsurprising spinal problem. Everybody at the front desk and all the technicians stopped in as we were saying goodbye to Dude. Whites has been helpful, informative and supportive for decades. I fully recommend them for medical care as well as boarding.

Review on Boarding Services and Veterinary Services:I have boarded my dog here quite a few times and I am always so comfortable knowing he's safe, being well taken care of and getting attention. I would normally never leave him at a vet's boarding, because the cages are always so small. However, the kennels are inside/outside with an open play area for daily attention. And the whole thing is SO affordable. In the winter, I was concerned about my dog being cold at night, and after I called to check in they intuitively asked if I was worried about it and assured me that there is warm water running under the concrete of the inside portion and that he was nice and warm and had his own bed (I brought his in). They recognize him when I bring him in - which is also reassuring.I had taken him to another vet in town for veterinary purposes because it stopped being realistic for me to drive to the Newbury Park Vet Clinic (his original vet), but decided he was so comfortable at White's and they seemed to know him, it made more sense to bring him here. We just had our first visit with Dr. McFarlin and she is FANTASTIC. I am SO happy with my decision to bring him here. Before moving to Santa Barbara, I didn't think vets would get as good as we had at our last home, but Dr. McFarlin and the staff at White's are so wonderful I finally feel a connection like I did before. I'm so happy and relieved.

If you love your pet and want that love to be treated with respect, go to White's. This is the best, most caring place you could imagine. The vets here treat the animal patients and the human people who live with them with the same diligence and support. We have three dogs and three cats, all of whom are kept healthy by White's. Our dogs are working field dogs and sometimes get injuries in the field. Their care and follow-up have been exceptional and Dr. McFarlane once saved the life of one of our dogs. All of the vets have the same value of caring about people as well as animals. The service is personal and decently priced and we have been blessed to find, in White's, a place that recognizes animals as part of the family..

I have been using Dr. McFarlin for years. She is the most dedicated and competent veterinarian I have ever come across. She puts you and your pet first (your pet slightly ahead of you) and herself last. She always goes the extra mile to make sure our needs are met, financially and medically. She is the BEST!!

I have used White's Pet Hospital for about 15 years. My dogs have had many challenging health issues. Dr. Cassaus has been amazing. He is knowledgeable but always explains the issues and helps me to make the best decision for my dogs. The front desk staff has been so helpful to me and my babies. They are always trying to make sure that my dogs get what they need when they need it. This pet hospital is busy because they are so great!!!!!!! Be nice to them when you call because they are busy and you need them!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will always take my dogs to White's Pet Hospital. AND! They are open 7 days a week!!!!!!!! How awesome is that? They also do acupuncture, surgery, and some homeopathic work. LOVE THIS WHOLE CREW!
