This review is about Dr. Jennifer Condreay and the staff. I haven't interacted much with Dr. Clay. Dr. Condreay has been our vet for almost 10 years, ever since we adopted a 10 year old chihuahua from the SPCA that had been neglected and nearly died twice. Jennifer, as a volunteer vet for the SPCA, re-started Rico Suave's heart twice in the SPCA's kennel before we met him. She was so dedicated to the survival and care of a prematurely old, rather unattractive dog that had never been allowed indoors and was never loved. We wanted to reward her dedication to abused, abandoned and neglected animals by keeping her as Rico's doctor as well as becoming the vet for our other 4 dogs. After 10 years all those dogs have passed away after healthy, long lives thanks to Jennifer's care and when the time came to end suffering Jennifer came to our house each and every time to put to sleep the beloved dogs at home. Two of the dogs had cancers. With one it was a cancer we attempted to treat. After diagnosis (which was very inexpensive) Jennifer sent us to a specialty clinic over the hill for the most state of the art chemotherapy treatments. That clinic made $10,000 from treating our dog, who died within 2 months anyway. Chanticleer could have performed the chemo and they would have made thousands (instead of several hundred dollars for diagnosis) but for the dog to have the best chance Jennifer sent us over the hill because she believed it was best for the dog. The other dog with cancer had a throat cancer. Without running any tests and just by touching the tumor and manipulating it Jennifer was sure it was untreatable and the beagle had 6 months to live. She knew exactly what type of cancer it was and that it was terminal from her vast experience and didn't need to run a bunch of tests to diagnose and did not generate a huge bill. The beagle was happy and comfortable for 6 months as we felt the mass in his throat growing and almost like clockwork at 6 months he stopped eating and walking. She also arranged hip surgery for our Pit Bull with an excellent visiting surgeon who specialized in the procedure our dog needed and then loaned us her personal-property (a portable dog-fence) so we could keep him still for 6 weeks post-op while the bone and metal healed together. If you want a vet who: 1. Will love your pet almost as much as you do,2. Has a vast amount of knowledge and experience,3. Does not run un-needed tests,4. Will refer you to appropriate specialists even though that means a loss of revenue for her practice,5. Will come to your house and lovingly, compassionately euthanize your pet at home with a calm voice and very gentle manner,6. loves animals so much she provides free care for unloved animals looking for a home who become ill at the "shelter," .........then Jennifer Condreay is the vet for you. I am really shocked by the reviews written here and only saw them as I was googling Chanticleer's phone number this morning to get my Pit Bull an appointment tomorrow for an ear infection. No practice is perfect and no practice can please everyone but the comments I encountered this morning give a mis-leading vision of Chanticleer in my opinion so I wanted to offer a positive perspective because Jennifer and the office staff are wonderful and have treated and cared about 7 animals I am owned by with love and dedication. I've had animals for 40 years and many many vets over the years. Jennifer Condreay is by far the most compassionate and professional veterinarian I've ever worked with. Read Less
