We were very pleased with Dr. Neumann as far as being pleasant and knowledge of our dogs condition. Her exam of our dog was completely thorough. Our only" negative" is the price we were quoted before we took her into see the Vet. We were able to observe the complete Exam and we were "shocked" as we checked out to leave. A complete price of a thorugh Exam was quoted before hand and when we check out it was $203.00 more. That should have never happened. Very poor business tactic. But what can you do? Once it's done, you just have to pay. Things like blood pressure, dialation, should be part of the first exam!! Read Less

This doctor only cares about money. I brought my dog in for a consult to possibly have a "mass" on her eyelid removed. While we were being seen by the doctor (less than 10 minutes), the doctor decided to do an "eye exam" that I didn't ask for so she could charge me $150 for the visit that day. She told me my dog would need her mass removed and that it would cost $485. I said ok and brought my dog in for surgery two weeks later. When I went to pick up my dog the total came to $500. Why the extra $15? Because they gave her antibiotics. Um..you mean you didn't foresee her need for antibiotics when you gave me the original quote? It's standard to give antibiotics after surgery. I let that go and payed the amount. They want to see my dog for follow up in two weeks. Typically the charge of any surgery includes follow up care. Not at this place!!! When they called to confirm my appointment, I asked if there would be a charge and not surprisingly, they said yes. No doubt they were planning to gouge me for another $150, making my total payout for a tiny mass removal $800. No thanks. Hopefully my dog heals up good because I refuse to give that money grubbing doctor another dime. On top of everything else, the doctor just called and left me a nasty voicemail. Do not take your animals here unless you are rich. Read Less

I love Dr. Neuman! I took my diabetic dog with cataracts to her and got an appointment very quickly.  My dog is shy and timid and Dr. Neuman was respectful to her and took her time in the introduction process.  She then gave her a thorough and gentle exam and discussed everything she saw with me in detail.  It is evident that her care for the animal comes above everything.  Her follow-up has been great and she conferred with the surgeon several times before our appointment with the same. We are in the first step of our journey and hoping my dog's vision can be saved. Dr. Neuman has been consistent and friendly and informative in this process and I am a huge fan! I think Dr Neuman is incredible. SHe has the compassion and the skill you want in a surgeon. Although my dogs surgery was in 2013 @ 11.5 yrs of age, he was fantastic from the moment he left Dr Neumans office for his eye removal to the day he passed away Mar 2016 due to old age.I had been away and my brother was caring for Jake and noticed his eye was discolored or cloudy. Our local emergency vet recommended Dr Neuman. She was up in Santa Rosa but said was able to see him at the larkspur office to make it easier for my brother on Saturday, the next day.My brother took Jake in and was told Jake had pressure on the eye, was explained everything and said when i returned, I should take Jake to see Dr Neuman to see if things changed. Since my brother had never been to a vet in very long time, he was amazed at how thorough she was in ther explanation about what was going on and potentially could happen that when he conveyed it to me, I was comfortable of what was to be.A week later, I took Jake to see Dr Neuman and my fears were realized. He had a fast growing tumor and the last thing i wanted to do was prolong the discomfort.I brought Jake back the next day for the surgery and he took it better than I did. She was right - he looked like he was winking. He was still as handsome as ever and never skipped a beat. She explained in length what to expect prior and post. She took the time to make sure I was I was comfortable with everything... After all, this was my baby. As a matter of fact, she was leaving for vacation and going out of the country for 2 weeks after his post exam. But she actually called me a week after the surgery to see how he was progressing. Now thats impressive. She has the compassion and heart of gold and the skill to go with it.  And that is what you want in a surgeon. From what I read who was disgruntled with the billing practices, Dr Neuman charges what is fair and what any other Dr would have charged. I know, I have seen many dogs since then who have seen many surgeons for eye removal for various reasons.  Her forte is helping your dog live a comfortable life with possibly only one eye and make him/her look great while enjoying their life. My dog walked right up to Dr Neuman and gave her some love each and every time we went to see her. SHe is there to give you the best advice and care for your pet.I would do it all over again with Dr Neuman if I had to. Read Less

Dr. Neumann and Assistant Gabby thank you for your care and compassion for Shotgun. You gave him a full facelift a week ago and he is wonderful today. He is a 6 month old Shar-pei, with an exceptional amount of wrinkles. He was suffering and almost blind just a week ago. In true Shar-pei form; Shotgun's usual way of meeting someone new is to keep them at arm reach until a time when he decides you are worthy to pet his luxurious wrinkles. And most newbies would never feel his silk like tongue. But that first day he almost immediately greeted Gabby with a blind sniff, low snort, and curled tail. For a new environment he was a comfortable Shar-pei. He even gave Dr. Neumann kisses at first meeting. Unusual. I am very pleased with the outcome of what was a major facelift. He still retains his wrinkled head while his eyes are perfect and healthy. After a week the meds have fixed the cataract that was developing. We visited today for follow up. Shotgun was happy to SEE his Dr. And Gabby. Oh yeah, no charge for the follow up appointments. Thanks again. Read Less

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!! I was referred by my Vet. This was an evaluation.  My dog had surgery the same day she came in to Dr. Neumann.   Dr Neumann said she had an opening right there and then.  According to Dr Neumann it was a lot of pressure on my dogs blind eye.  Dr Neumann told me no more than 800-900.00 but then came back in to say that did not include visit ok fine!!   I came back 1 hr later and could hear my dog whimpering in the back which she has never done but i knew she just had this procedure so understandable. I could hear Dr Neumann and Gabriella discussing what to charge.  Then Dr Neumann brought me my dog who was wobbling and Dr Neumann explanation of my dog whimpering says "Oh she is missing you"  I said NO she has never done that.   Why couldn't she just say she was in pain since she just had fluid removed behind her eye.  So i get my bill from Receptionist Gabriella and over 1300.00 then I had to have a  follow up appt the next week. Gabriella schedules this for me and while up at the desk  i specifically asked the receptionist gabriella do i have to pay next week.  She told me NO!!!!!! She said you would only have to pay if there was a problem with your dog when you come back in because of other issues and then she said but that never happens.  I show up early for my appt waited past my appt by 20 minutes because Dr Neumann was still at lunch according to Gabriella then when the dr does come in gabriella came in to the room to tell me  dr neumann was speaking with her (gabriellas) Vet in regards to her dog so not only is she behind from lunch but then chooses to speak about her employees animal while i sit in the room and wait passed my scheduled time. In the meantime i tell Gabriella (since she asked) how my dog whimpered for two days and understandable since she had this procedure and she says "oh no she should not have been in any pain??"  Dr Neumann walks in and my dog GROWLS AT HER!! Dr Neumann asks does she bite??  My dog has never acted this way. Dr Neumann has Gabriella hold my dogs mouth shut Dr checks my dog puts some drops in looks at eyes says to come back in a month and then asks if i brought my dog's medication that Dr Neumann had prescribed from last weeks procedure. i said no i didn't know i was suppose to bring it? Dr Neumann reminds me that on the last invoice (1300.00) i was given it says to bring medication and proceeds to find my invoice so she can point this out.  This bit of information is on the last line of the last page of your itemized invoice. The receptionist called my phone the day before as a reminder of my appt and did not mention this and i still have her message on my voicemail but Dr Neumann wanted to make sure that she pointed out it was on my invoice and i missed it!! Her reasoning was then she could determine how much more meds to give me and charge me.The last visit she said she would just give me the prescription to go to Costco to save money but she now is saying something different.  i still have a lot of medication at home. She also changed her tune about my dogs other eye which she told me was fine but now wants to continue to keep an eye on it and decide what to do? Decide what to do? The 2 visits i had gave me a clear picture but Dr Neumann wants me to come back in a month.   i go to the front and ask gabriella (receptionist)  how much will i have to pay for the next visit (so i can be prepared) she tells me to wait a minute then says "that will be 206.00" for today.....  I said for what?? You specifically told me there was no charge this was a follow up and there are no issues with my dog.  She looked at me like a deer in headlights. I repeated myself and she still sat frozen.  WOW!!!  I paid the bill and will never be back this Dr. Neumann can run her business and charge as she sees fit but this is a SNEAKY BUSINESS PRACTICE I am surprised she didn't charge me for opening the door and counting for each step she made. I feel she sneaks things in her invoices. On this last invoice for the follow up visit i was specifically told i would not be charged it states Recheck EXAM -EXTENDED=98.00 (what was extended she just checked her eyes exactly how she did to determine her diagnosis)  THEN FOR EACH CHECK SHE DID I WAS CHARGED ANOTHER 35.00 (EYE DROP STAIN), 21.00 (TOPICAL ANESTHETIC) EYE DROP 52.00 TONOMETRY EXACTLY WHAT SHE DID PUT DROPS IN MY DOGS EYE AND CHECKED THE PRESSURE. ISN'T THIS WHAT A FOLLOW UP IS from the procedure i paid you to alleviate the pressure???????.  i didn't feel QUITE RIGHT ABOUT DR NEUMANN  from the beginning for me there is a disconnect and i should have run with my instincts but when you think your dog might be in pain and you want to alleviate it well the rest is history she knows how to pull the heartstrings. Lesson learned i am also going to share this information with my vet so he can find someone else to refer patients to....there are other Specialists in Santa Rosa!!! Very bad business practice!!!!! Our cattledog Ella was hit in our driveway be a truck.  We thought she had lost her eye.  An odd circumstance where the tear duct glad tore through the third eyelid.  We were distraught, and scared. A breeder friend suggested Dr. Neuman.  We brought her in on a Monday afternoon for diagnosis after being hit the past Friday.  She went in for surgery the next morning.  After having dogs my entire life and having experience with may vets over the years, Sylvia Neuman comes in as top on our list.  Her 30+ years of experience, this woman really knows her business. It was not an easy operation.  She saved Ella's eye, her ability to see properly,  and as a result of her expertise Ella has made a full recovery.  But there is more to this story.  Sylvia really cared about our dog, and us.  And for whatever reason, and unlike any vet Ella has been to previously, she felt more comfortable there than any other place.  So did we.In addition to that Dr. Neuman was fair.  The procedure was expensive, but all specialists that are worth their salt are. We had originally taken Ella to our vet, and if we had let them treat Ella she would have lost her eye.  They misdiagnosed the trauma, and made recommendations, that if we had gone along with, would have cost Ella her eye.  We are forever grateful to the skills and compassion Sylvia Neuman has demonstrated to us.  I saw another post that was not as positive as this.  But our experience was nothing short exceptional.Thank you Sylvia for everything you did for our Ella. With much love. My vet recommended Dr. Neumann in the Santa Rosa office when my senior cat Alexendra developed sudden blindness as a result of high pressure related to cancer of the kidney and other ailments.   As a result, Alex regained her eyesight as it was caught early and she responded to medication to reattach her retina.  I found Dr. Neumann warm and caring.  I was impressed that she also took the time to split out the 30 tiny, tiny (and I mean tiny) pills  into quarters with her finger tips when no one else was able to so that Alex could get the proper dose.  Alex was able to live her final days with eyesight and for that I am grateful.   Afterwards, I received a condolence card with a hand written note that was very touching.  It is good to know that there are people like Dr. Neumann who can help when it seems hopeless. I booked an appointment with Dr. Neumann.  Tess had a complete exam, I was informed that she had a non-cancer cyst in her Iris. I was given and explained my options. We chose not to have surgery completed as it seemed more cosmetic and her vision was not being affected by it.  We did book for a reevaluation 3 months down the road.Glad we did! Her cyst grew and it was affecting her vision and if it continued to grow with nothing being done, her eye could be in jeopardy! I asked a lot of questions at each appointment plus called with a list of questions 1 week before surgery.  I never once felt like they did not have time for me. I cannot say enough about Dr. Neumann and her eye specialty practice. She was kind enough to fit me in despite a full schedule and quickly assessed the situation with my Chloe to put my fears at ease.  She is pragmatic, with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and is gentle with animals and their people. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her and should anything of an ocular nature arise with my animals in the future she will be my first call.   I am profoundly grateful to Dr. Neumann and her staff - they were wonderful. I love Dr. The office staff is incredible also. Very friendly and personable and their genuine care and compassion is felt from the minute you walk in the door. Read Less

Read Less

I cannot speak highly enough of All Animal Eye Care. Recently our 8 month old golden was diagnosed with  Entropion. Her eyelashes were scraping on her cornea and her eyes watered excessively all day.
