I wrote a note an d I guess it was lost. I wanted to say that Posey (12 pounds) had her physical. The Vet came down to her level and I was on the bench and she was close by...no problem....I think she enjoyed the Vet's attention and showed off a bit. The front staff is always happy to fill the coffee water. Then there is Billie...he clips Posey's nails but I remember him for his compassion when I had a sick dog and a dog that had to be placed....five stars to all of you and thanks. Read Less

Great service. Dr. Sheehy is the first vet who was able to handle my usually nice 14 pound cat without sedation. He has always been very difficult at the vet. They even drew labs without any trouble. He personally called with lab results and did not do unnecessary add on tests like some places. I have been going there for about ten years. Dr Sheehy is a new addition, but their front and back office staff has always been great. I am making an extra special effort to support Larkfield businesses. Our primary home is in San Francisco, but we have a small condo in the Larkfield area of Santa Rosa. The last time we were staying there, our small terrier, Poppy, began violently shaking his head and rubbing it against the carpet. We knew something was wrong and were very concerned, so we found the Larkfield Veterinary Hospital in an Internet search and called them to see if they could schedule an emergency appointment for Poppy. They responded immediately and agreed to examine Poppy less than an hour later! With a simple form to fill out and only a few minutes' wait, we brought Poppy into the vet. She was thorough, professional and kind. After a brief examination, she identified the problem (an ear infection), applied medication and sent us home with clear, simple instructions and a scheduled follow-up visit. We are extremely grateful to the Larkfield Veterinary Hospital for their excellent care on short notice, and will certainly call on them again if need arises during one of our visits to the North Bay! I've been taking my dogs here for 2years, and I highly recommend these vets ( Dr. McEvoy and Dr. Sheehy). They're extremely caring, attentive, and knowledgeable. Also, both my dogs are very responsive and sweet to the docs, and they're an excellent judge of character :) Also, the vet techs don't demand that my girls get their temperatures taken ( it freaks them out), so that's a plus. I used to think this was the best place for my pets. Now, I say I don't trust them anymore. The front desk woman named "Megan" not only did not acknowledge me but was rude. Dr. Sheehy is the one of the best of veterinarians I know. I live in Silicon Valley & used to see him at Los Gatos Dog and Cat. I'll travel to Santa Rosa with my dog, just to come see him! He's that good!!!! He's friendly, knowledgeable and professional, plus my dog just loves him! We recently moved all of our dogs to the Larkfield Veterinary practice after years w/ our vet who retired. It was such a relief to find the same concern, care, interest, and commitment to our dogs that we had with our previous vet. The front desk staff are very friendly and competent. And the first time we took our 4 dogs to meet the new vets for exams, the dogs had the same reaction they had with their previous and longtime vet......absolute delight and happiness at meeting them and being there! my family took our dog here his whole 15 years of life, so it was only natural for me to bring my cat here when I got her. we always loved dr. York, but since she has left the practice, I had to pick a different Doctor. Dr. Sheehy is one of the best vets I've ever had the pleasure of meeting! he was extremely attentive and detail oriented- he explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it! he was very gentle with my cat and treated her like his own. Today I had an apt for my 13 year old Corgi who cowered under the bench seat. By the end of the exam my dog loved Dr. Kevin Sheehy and got lots of treats and cuddles. I left with a clear diagnosis, printed article with explanations, medication, lots of discussion and answer time, and a follow up apt. Place is spotless and front desk is friendly and efficient. We brought our puppy in last week to see their new vet - Dr. Sheehy. He was very attentive, answered all of our questions, took extra time to interact with my kids and go over puppy "stuff" since it's been 13 years since I've had a puppy. I didn't feel rushed at all and I really liked Dr. Sheehy. We did have to wait over 20 minutes for our appointment, but I think it was an "off" day, as we didn't wait that long when we took our cat in a few months ago. I recommend Larkfield and Dr. S! I ended up at Larkfield because I thought my housemate worked there. She works up the street. It was a fortunate mistake, because everyone in the office is so sweet. Obviously they have not only your pet's best interests at heart, but their clients' budget as well. My groomer recommended I have my pup's dew claws removed (kinda pricey),and the vet informed me as long as I intend to groom her at least every 2 months, that procedure was unnecessary. I was blown away. Many vets would sell any service you'd pay for whether or not it was needed.BUY the puppy package, if you have a new pup, because it truly is an exceptional deal.
