The Cat Doctor in Santa Rosa, CA is a well-established, full service veterinary hospital exclusively for cats. Dr. Alice Simpson and her staff provide comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care with a special focus on cats, also boarding, grooming, and bathing. We also carry veterinary diets and special foods, proven flea control products such as Advantage and Frontline Plus, and cat supplies such as toys, colorful collars, decorator beds, grooming supplies, etc.
We provide a quiet and comfortable environment for cats and people and a staff with a special interest in cats and feline medicine. Feline medicine has become a specialized field as knowledge of feline diseases, pharmacology, physiology, dentistry, and surgery has expanded greatly. Focusing on cats exclusively allows us to attain a higher level of knowledge and expertise about the unique needs and problems of the feline species.

We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. She gives me in-depth information, and it is abundantly clear that she is an expert in her field. Her staff are wonderful, caring and compassionate, as well as efficient, helpful, and kind. Dr Simpson and her team have been lifesavers for my two kitties, both of whom received a lymphoma diagnosis in the last two months. While one actually seemed sick, the other only had mild symptoms but she taught us enough that we followed through on the second kitty and hopefully we've caught it early enough to help.Appointments can be long but at the end you come away feeling that all the options have been evaluated, something I don't feel happened with my previous vet.

Dr. Simpson is hands down the best Cat Doctor ever! I called in a panic and they were able to get me in immediately. Crissie was very helpful, she listened to my complaints and made me feel very comfortable with leaving my Kitty there. Dr. Simpson called me within 30 min or so of dropping him off and explained to my everything that could possibly be going on with him and what she felt was necessary to help treat him. When I picked up my kitty Dr. Simpson came out and talked to me about everything they did and gave me a sugggestions on how to help him long term. I was very surprised with the cost as well, I am so scared I was going to be paying a lot more than I did. They are a very helpful, honest and caring vet. Needless to say this is where I'll be taking my kitty for any health need.

I thought my cat had autism, but turns out Mr Fluffers was dead. Dr. Simpson said I should burn the corpse to release Mr Fluffer's spirit into the great beyond. It worked perfectly.

Dr. Simpson and her team are truly cat lovers, and their breadth and depth of knowledge cannot be argued.The office staff is excellent, dedicated and have genuine concern for all their patients.While it's true Dr. Simpson can come across as rather stern and lecturing, it is only because she so wants to impart knowledge and suggest the best possible care. She went above and beyond with me in offering theories about my cat's inappropriate urination issues. Eventually we came up with a solution, which no other vet was ever able to do.One has to be patient at Dr. Simpson's office. Visits tend to take a long time. But again it is because they take such personal care with all the felines they see, and their owners.For a particular type of cat owner, Dr. Simpson is a rare find.

It's hard for me to write a review of Dr. Simpson without becoming emotional. I never owned a cat until recently when I adopted a very ill 14-year-old male cat named Kikumune. Kikumune had numerous problems, including badly damaged teeth, alopecia, ear and eye infections, etc. I initially took him to the rescue group's preferred veterinary provider, but found their approach to diagnosing and treating his various medical conditions cursory. During my first visit with Dr. Simpson, scheduled specifically to diagnose the cause of his alopecia, Dr. Simpson took a holistic approach, explaining in layman's terms how some of his conditions could be connected, and recommending various diagnostic tests and treatments. I have visited 40 or more veterinarians over the years for the treatment of animals other than cats, and I have never met a veterinarian that was as analytical and as insightful as Dr. Simpson. She is clearly an expert in her field, but her value also lies in her patience and her willingness to spend as much time as necessary discussing your cat's condition and helping you to make the right decisions. I was extremely pleased with the dental surgery performed by Dr. Simpson, and would add that, unlike some other veterinarians, Dr. Simpson provided detailed cost estimates of the medical treatment up front. As a result of the excellent care that Kikumune received from Dr. Simpson, the quality of his life has drastically improved.

Going to a new vet is nerve-racking for me, as I have had some very unfortunate experiences in the past. That said I cannot express how happy I am with Dr. Simpson. It is beyond clear how much she cares about her patients and the breadth of her knowledge. My beloved cat Kabuki has a complicated health issue and Dr. Simpson was so kind and spent a great deal of time with us seeking a resolution to the issue so no drive by type medicine here.
It was a treat to have a doctor who cares so much and has a vast array of knowledge as well.

FIVE STAR SERVICE FROM DR. SIMPSON AND HER STAFF I came in to The Cat Doctor today with a very sick feral cat. I knew nothing about his poor cat except that it was on death’s door. Dr. Simpson, and her staff, were absolutely amazing in their care and responsibility toward this cat. It turned out that the cat had a microchip registered to Forgotten Feline. Dr. Simpson did a full examination, called Forgotten Feline and offered a very knowledgeable diagnosis to Forgotten Feline, who technically was responsible for the cat. Clearly, she went above and beyond what would be expected from a simple “appointment.”I have several pets of my own and am not new to visiting a veterinarian practice. If you are looking for a doctor that will take whatever time is necessary to insure that your cat has the very best care then look no further than Dr. Simpson and her staff. HUGE KUDOS to Forgotten Feline for taking responsibility for the ongoing care of this kitty. I’ve met some remarkable people today.

I love the Cat Doctor! I really like cats only vets since my two girls are nervous enough going to the Dr without having dogs and birds and other animals in close proximity. I was thrilled after I moved to Santa Rosa and found The Cat Doctor. I discovered that one of my cats has diabetes, which requires a lot of trial and error and many visits to the vet. I am very pleased with how Dr. Simpson (and her staff) is working with me and my 'Shiloh'. She often calls me during the month just to ask how things are going. You can tell she loves her feline patients almost as much as us moms. I would recommend her to anyone without reservation.

I love the Cat Doctor! I really like cats only vets since my two girls are nervous enough going to the Dr without having dogs and birds and other animals in close proximity. I was thrilled after I moved to Santa Rosa and found The Cat Doctor. I discovered that one of my cats has diabetes, which requires a lot of trial and error and many visits to the vet. I first visited the cat doctor because I was looking for a cat only facility who could bathe one of my cats. My cat Kozi has continued to get his veterinary care since then. Dr. Simpson puts a strong emphasis on preventive care and I appreciate getting reminders for regular checkups that may be needed. Everyone on staff is always friendly and courteous.

Dr Simpson and her team have been lifesavers for my two kitties, both of whom received a lymphoma diagnosis in the last two months. While one actually seemed sick, the other only had mild symptoms but she taught us enough that we followed through on the second kitty and hopefully we've caught it early enough to help.Appointments can be long but at the end you come away feeling that all the options have been evaluated, something I don't feel happened with my previous vet.

It is beyond clear how much she cares about her patients and the breadth of her knowledge. FIVE STAR SERVICE FROM DR. SIMPSON AND HER STAFF I came in to The Cat Doctor today with a very sick feral cat. I knew nothing about his poor cat except that it was on death’s door. Dr. Simpson, and her staff, were absolutely amazing in their care and responsibility toward this cat. It turned out that the cat had a microchip registered to Forgotten Feline. Dr. Simpson did a full examination, called Forgotten Feline and offered a very knowledgeable diagnosis to Forgotten Feline, who technically was responsible for the cat. Clearly, she went above and beyond what would be expected from a simple “appointment.”I have several pets of my own and am not new to visiting a veterinarian practice. If you are looking for a doctor that will take whatever time is necessary to insure that your cat has the very best care then look no further than Dr. Simpson and her staff. HUGE KUDOS to Forgotten Feline for taking responsibility for the ongoing care of this kitty. I’ve met some remarkable people today.

Dr Simpson has incredible cat knowledge. She can help with almost any cat problem because she has been taking care of cats for her entire life. I'm really glad we found her for kitty checkups and her cat boarding I like that a veterinarian is never far even when boarding.

I love the Cat Doctor! I really like cats only vets since my two girls are nervous enough going to the Dr without having dogs and birds and other animals in close proximity. I was thrilled after I moved to Santa Rosa and found The Cat Doctor. I discovered that one of my cats has diabetes, which requires a lot of trial and error and many visits to the vet. I am very pleased with how Dr. Simpson (and her staff) is working with me and my 'Shiloh'. She often calls me during the month just to ask how things are going. You can tell she loves her feline patients almost as much as us moms. I would recommend her to anyone without reservation.

I love the Cat Doctor! I really like cats only vets since my two girls are nervous enough going to the Dr without having dogs and birds and other animals in close proximity. Dr. Simpson is a very thorough cat doctor. We have only received from that office the best possible care for our kitty. We would highly recommend The Cat Doctor.

I first visited the cat doctor because I was looking for a cat only facility who could bathe one of my cats. My cat Kozi has continued to get his veterinary care since then. Dr. Simpson puts a strong emphasis on preventive care and I appreciate getting reminders for regular checkups that may be needed. Everyone on staff is always friendly and courteous.

My cat Colin had a urinary obstruction last year. Dr. Simpson helped cure him and now he is one happy kitty!
