Valley Oak Veterinary Clinic

Scotts Valley, California
General Info
Valley Oak Veterinary Clinic provides custom-tailored veterinary services throughout California, including Scotts Valley, by paying attention to how animals respond to touch, pace, and noise during visits. Intake does not start when the client begins filling out paperwork. Staff observe the animal as it enters and note any hesitation or circling behaviors, vocalizations, and door-anchoring movements. The clinic observes which approach quiet staging or quick triage is most desirable based on the stress level. Physical tests involve checking: balance, ear tension, skin warmth and hydration, fur texture, oral response, breath pattern and handling resistance. The entire system is based on the owner’s feedback about sleeping positions, recent behavioral changes during the season, appetite, and avoidance to facilitate medical dialogue. Valley Oak Veterinary Clinic offers a wide range of services: wellness examinations, emergency care, senior profiling, weight management programs, and pain assessment. Pets thriving on short activity bursts can receive services across several visits. Some people benefit from the whole day sequence with breaks and resting. This model prevents the families to have a pet undergo the traumatic experience if the animal is noise sensitive after surgery or already fearful. After visiting healthcare professionals, patients receive body-language guides and emotional response scales for home use. Owners need to adjust both their schedules and daily habits together with the modes of communication. The timing of follow-ups is determined by behavioral readiness, not by a set schedule. Valley Oak Veterinary Clinic offers a veterinary rhythm to the pet families of Scotts Valley and surrounding California areas that promotes harmony of bodily healing and emotional self-regulation with clinical precision. The team provides highly specialized services such as Acupuncture, Allergy Testing, Anesthesiology, Behavioral Counseling, and Bloodwork. Clients also frequently praise the practice’s staff for their attention to the pets’ needs and dedication to care. Whether it is a routine examination or complex surgical intervention, the specialists of the clinic will provide your pet with high-quality treatment in a comfortable and friendly environment.

We've used Dr Arnold for several generations of cats now. He and his staff are wonderful to deal with. I felt compelled to write a review after his efforts on the behalf of our current cat who is dealing with a health crisis. This cat has unusual issues and Dr Arnold has gone above and beyond doing extra research, consulting with a variety of specialists, and making sure we knew all of the options so we could make an informed decision about how to proceed. I trust him and feel very comfortable recommending him and his staff. Read Less

Dr. Arnold has been treating my MANY dogs and cats for the last 30 years. He is extremely knowledgeable, capable and experienced.  In addition, he has performed surgeries on my animals and extended their life span with many of my dogs and cats living over 20 years!!!Although Dr.  Arnold does not immediately display to be the warm and fuzzy type, once you get to know him you realize how truly kind and caring he really is.His office is pricey, but you get what you pay for. In addition, his staff over the years has been nothing but the best--including the other vets that step-in to take over when Dr. Arnold is unavailable.I know you can't please everyone, but anyone who claims that Dr. Arnold doesn't know what he is doing is sorely misinformed. This is the BEST vet and clinic around. Hands down!Thank you Dr. Arnold and Staff for all that you do!!! Read Less

Dr. Arnold's malpractice killed my beloved cat, "Samantha."  He didn't know that when a patient has signs of a urinary tract infection, you HAVE to get a urine sample to check for an infection.  He said it was nothing, and didn't bother to get a sample because her bladder was small (like usual with an infection.)  Any competent veterinarian would have known how to treat this.  At the very least, he should have given her antibiotics prophylactically, and she would still be alive today.  He never even said he was sorry.  He is a truly horrible person and worse yet a very negligent and stupid doctor.  If you love your pets, stay far away from Dr. Arnold.
