Valley Oak Veterinary Clinic

Scotts Valley, California
General Info
Valley Oak Veterinary Clinic delivers customized veterinary care across California including Scotts Valley by observing animal responses to touch pace and noise during visits. The initiation of intake procedures does not begin with the completion of paperwork. Staff watch the animal's entry while noting any hesitation or circling behaviors along with vocalizations and door anchoring movements. The clinic monitors these reactions to determine whether to implement a slow approach quiet staging or quick triage based on stress levels. Physical evaluations include testing balance ear tension skin warmth hydration fur texture oral response breath pattern and handling resistance. The entire diagnostic process relies on owner feedback which includes details about sleeping positions, seasonal behavior changes, appetite shifts, and recent avoidance patterns to shape medical discussions. Valley Oak Veterinary Clinic delivers an extensive spectrum of services including wellness checks, urgent care, geriatric mapping, weight stabilization plans, and pain indexing. Services for pets that thrive in brief activity periods can be spread across several visits. Certain individuals find advantage in a full-day staggered approach that incorporates intervals for rest. This model allows families to avoid retraumatization for noise-sensitive post-surgical or previously fearful animals. After visiting healthcare professionals patients receive body-language guides alongside emotional response scales for at-home monitoring. Owners should modify their communication methods along with their schedules and daily habits to support post-care decompression. The scheduling of follow-ups depends on behavioral readiness instead of fixed timelines. Valley Oak Veterinary Clinic delivers a veterinary rhythm to pet families in Scotts Valley and nearby California communities that promotes physical healing alongside emotional self-regulation while maintaining clinical precision.

Everyone there is helpful, friendly, patient and knowledgeable.  I went through a bad time with a very sick dog.  Turned out that what I thought was an easy to fix tummy upset was actually liver cancer.  She got the absolute best care available from everyone there and I was always treated well.  My dog is doing great and I'm not taking her anywhere else. We've used Dr Arnold for several generations of cats now. He and his staff are wonderful to deal with. I felt compelled to write a review after his efforts on the behalf of our current cat who is dealing with a health crisis. This cat has unusual issues and Dr Arnold has gone above and beyond doing extra research, consulting with a variety of specialists, and making sure we knew all of the options so we could make an informed decision about how to proceed. I trust him and feel very comfortable recommending him and his staff. Read Less

Dr. Arnold has been treating my MANY dogs and cats for the last 30 years. He is extremely knowledgeable, capable and experienced.  In addition, he has performed surgeries on my animals and extended their life span with many of my dogs and cats living over 20 years!!!Although Dr.  Arnold does not immediately display to be the warm and fuzzy type, once you get to know him you realize how truly kind and caring he really is.His office is pricey, but you get what you pay for. In addition, his staff over the years has been nothing but the best--including the other vets that step-in to take over when Dr. Arnold is unavailable.I know you can't please everyone, but anyone who claims that Dr. Arnold doesn't know what he is doing is sorely misinformed. This is the BEST vet and clinic around. Hands down!Thank you Dr. Arnold and Staff for all that you do!!! Read Less

Dr. Arnold's malpractice killed my beloved cat, "Samantha."  He didn't know that when a patient has signs of a urinary tract infection, you HAVE to get a urine sample to check for an infection.  He said it was nothing, and didn't bother to get a sample because her bladder was small (like usual with an infection.)  Any competent veterinarian would have known how to treat this.  At the very least, he should have given her antibiotics prophylactically, and she would still be alive today.  He never even said he was sorry.  He is a truly horrible person and worse yet a very negligent and stupid doctor.  If you love your pets, stay far away from Dr. Arnold.
