First, let me start by saying, if you choose Dr. Bader as your vet I am so insanely jealous of you. He was my cats vet for a little over a year. My boy cat got sick constantly, and the first time I nearly lost him. Dr. bader is so honest and the ONLY vet that I have yet to meet that does this for the love of animals more than money. He loved my cat and took care of him countless time and I'm really not sure I could ever express to him and his staff how much it means to me. I'm sure when my cat gets really sick again and I drive 8 hours back up north to take him to dr. Bader they will understand 😂 I'm not kidding about this either. I moved six months ago and when I moved the first thing I said was, what am I going to do if my cats get sick? I don't trust anyone else. Let me tell you this week I had the taste of multiple vets that do it for the money and I cried. Then I called dr. bader today and he talked to me over the phone and reassured me it was ok and what to ask the vet here for if he doesn't get better and let me know he agreed with the medicine given for their upper respitory. Y'all, he's not even my vet anymore. ( he always will be, but I am so far now. My cat would have to really sick again for me to bring him up there) but, the point is I'm not necessarily a patient anymore and haven't been in for awhile and he still called me back and talked over what ANOTHER vet gave to my cat and gave me suggestions. There isn't a vet that would do that, unless they truly love animals. This veterinary is amazing and the best, it's a family. They will love your babies and they will do everything they can to save them. When my baby got sick he made no promises he was so honest they it's pretty bad but they would try everything they could, that they did. My boy is still with me today because of them, and now when he gets sick their just a phone call away so when these LA vets try to suck me dry of money and pump my babies with unnecessary medicine, I can call dr. Bader and he will tell me what's necessary and not. That's beyond costumer service! Choose shingle springs vet, you won't regret it and know if you do, I'm SO jealous of you!!!!!! Read Less

I took my dog on a Sunday morning because he ate something he should not have. The staff was friendly. The office was busy, with pets continuing to come and go. There seemed to be only one vet working so things went a bit slowly. It was Sunday so I didn't have a problem with that. The vet did her job inducing my dog to vomit so that he would be ok. However, my dog had a visible skin infection that was not brought up to my attention by the vet. I had just adopted him and didn't recognize it. When I took him to my regular vet the following Tuesday, she pointed out the skin infection, which clearly should have been noticed at the SS Vet. That completely reduced my faith in them. Read Less

My family has been taking our animals there for 30 years. Everything from dogs to cows! Had nothing but great experience and our dog loves dr. Bader! I have to warn you, he is a bit old fashioned but he really knows his stuff! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE YOUR PETS AND LIVESTOCK HERE! Also, he knows a lot of Indian remedies that seem to work well as well as other natural remedies. Our baby has a sensitive stomach and he gave her some remedies that she thought was delicious (which is unusual for her) and so far is working! I plan to keep bringing my baby there until the day she dies. Never had another vet and I never plan to!!! Bader, you are the best vet a person could ask for! Read Less

I put one just to make review! First thing the tech was very nice but took my dogs temperature with no gloves and touched the business end of the thermometer THEN did not wash his hands! Disgusting! The Vet came in and seemed just not with it. Told me they would call back with blood test results and never did until I bugged them for Vet to call me. This Vet told me my dog had kidney disease! I thought she was going to die! He read her blood result records without reviewing them first over the phone to me and was all over the place he just was not all there! I thought I was going to lose my dog and then he said, " I can clean her teeth! " I took my dog to my regular Vet and he said she is fine! Just needs a teeth cleaning! But let her feel better, no kidney disease. Please stick to your Vet, I love mine! I just got frantic when he was not there... he let me know I could call him on Emergencies.. ( my Vet)  Good to know now! Cost thousands of dollars later! But point is she is in the right hands now. I just wish they would shut down or fine these type of Vets that do this type of Practice. But then we have people docs that get away with so much too! Have to research and go with your gut! Read Less

I'm glad I read the Yelp reviews AFTER arriving at 1 am with a dog that had an allergic reaction to some "natural biodegradable" soap I'd used to wash off the mud after a glorious hike in the rain.  No, the situation was not life threatening, but I had the typical ER vet experience.  On the plus side, I found the final bill - exam and medication- to be reasonable (under $150 if I remember).  Sure, it's a chunk of change, but less than WHAT I'd have shelled out down the hill. After visiting the emergency vet in shingle springs, after being ignored for 15 minutes in the waiting room while the front desk took a personal call, after the "vet" left us to go "research" aka "google" what meds to use, my cat seized to death in my arms. I had to beg them to give my cat a medicine to stop the multiple seizures. When I asked about what meds are used the vet had no idea. The first sentence he told us after walking in the room is "I'll give you an estimate" money. He didn't notice my cats eyes filling with blood. He didnt "evaluate" him. He didn't even touch him before slapping down a 700 dollar bill to keep my kitten over night for eval and antibiotics. What I witnessed was damn near malpractice. While I waited for him to educate himself on the same websites I was googling, my cat continued to seize and defecate on the table. I bawled and received no consolation. There was not a single second that man acted as if he cared that there was an animal in pain dying in front of him or that he had an owner that was in hysterics in front of him. All that man cared about and all that vet office cared about was us paying $700 for a cat to die without us there. As a cat owner and a catlover I am horrified at what I experienced last night as I got my kitten home and was trying to give a medication while he seized one last time before completely dying in my arms. I am beside myself today because I feel like I should've done more. I should've taken him to a different vet who would've cared that his life was about to end. Whatever you do, take your cat, dog, any animal you need help down to Bradshaw where they have a 24 hour vet. I know it's far but it is much worth the drive for you to be able to still have your kitten today.Oh when I forgot to mention the vile of medication (that I was never able to use because they didn't give it to my cat while I was there ) and the visit to this doctor that did not care and did not know what was going on cost me $200. Disgusting.I wish I could give this zero stars! Maybe if you have a pet with a broken leg they would be fine, but good god don't try to get any emotion out of anyone! No love and care for animals. Just greed. Tell me THAT is how my night should have ended. My 9 month old kitten in a box. You not only left me with sorrow for our cat, but horrific memories of holding my cat with blood filled eyes that was looking for me to save him.You should be ASHAMED. Read Less

They said he was peeing although not using the litter box (very unlike him he always uses the litter box) and they said he was cranky. My regular vet has never had a problem with him being cranky as he is a very sweet cat.  So we called back on the rescheduled day to pick him up, they stated he spiked a fever and he was not going anywhere. WAIT WHAT!? My baby gets extremely ill and you don't call me! Needless to say we picked him up and brought him to our normal vet.  Our vet said his bladder had gotten infected and was full of puss, this is the reason he was peeing on the floor of his kennel, because he was actually leaking a combination of pee and puss.  He was very ill and to accumulate that much puss no one was monitoring him.  This vets response was to just give him very strong antibiotics without removing the infection.  This is neglect and even if they are staffed 24/7 they are not taking proper care of the animals.  He would have died if we didn't pick him up and it makes me sick to think of how long he suffered without proper care.  I am lucky he is happy, healthy and cuddly as ever.  I hope this saves someone else the same heartache. Absolutely the worst place I've ever been too regarding my pets. My dog was struck by a rattlesnake and we were closest to this place. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted with an assumptive cost. No feelings, no concern or any other form of emotion. I felt so uncomfortable that I took the unlikely risk of driving my 8 yr old family member to the next closest ER vet. We were greeted with respect, concern and care without the assumption we couldn't pay. We may have been dressed down and feel discriminated against and will never take an animal there again. Highly recommend you don't either. Upon leaving I was insulted by a staff member," who wouldn't spend money to take care of their dog"?Well i'd spend $10,000 to take care of a hangnail for my dog. Again I suggest not going to this place with any animal care. Judge my value of thought by my vernacular and expression. You will see I am as real as they come. In care dearly about my animals. Sage is doing fine by the way. No thanks to this place or its emotionally lacking employees. Also please notice I did not state where to go. Just not here Read Less

We brought our dog in this evening because she had been bit by a rattlesnake. We had never dealt with an issue like this before and were definitely in panic mode. Upon arrival at this vet we stood there for about two minutes before we were even acknowledged. That's frustrating in any situation but especially when you're terrified you may lose a beloved furry family member. Finally the receptionist asked why we were there. I told her we thought it was a rattlesnake bite, started giving her symptoms and she interrupted me with an odd laugh and told me "it's definitely a bite" I told her we were scared and had never dealt with something like this before and asked if she was able to explain the process to me. I meant the process of how she could be treated, but her response was "well I'll tell you it will be at least $1000" We left pretty quickly from there and found a very compassionate emergency vet 25 min away. I understand an emergency vet charges more, and cost is something that needs to be addressed. We are the kind of people who pay what we need to to take care of our own- but to spend our money and have our dog cared for in such a cold environment is never an option. Read Less

ONLY GIVING 5 STARS SO PEOPLE CAN SEE THIS!!! It's more like 5 stars on my angry scale because I am LIVID! I had found that my dog had eaten 2-3 caplets of Acetaminophen 500mg each. It's very toxic to pets, especially how much she ate.. This whole thing started at about 6:30pm... When I called all the assistants were very nice and very thorough. I asked them the price of the exam and the treatment that they give when this happens and it was more than my budget so I asked for home remedies. The first time I called the assistant said the vet's advice was to give her hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting as quickly as possible. So after giving my dog the recommended dose with no luck I called a second time. However, a different assistant named Gabbi picked up, asked the vet his advice and she said that his advice was to give her some food to fill her stomach and suggested milk and bread because it expands in the stomach and then to give her another dose of hydrogen peroxide and see if that works. So that's what I did. I ended up feeding her 3 slices of bread and giving her 2 more doses of hydrogen peroxide and STILL no luck... So I called a 3rd time and a different assistant picked up and said that the vet told her that the milk and bread actually settles the stomach instead of helping with the vomiting.. So all that time I had been counteracting the hydrogen peroxide and helping the Acetaminophen digest faster..!! We had been given misinformation from one of the assistants telling us to give her something that the vet said would help her and it ended up just making things worse for us... So my dad and I go in after it had already been almost 3 hrs since she injested the pills and demand some answers. After talking to the assistant at the desk for a bit she gets the vet and we explain our story. And the vet tried to tell us that "Nobody in my clinic would say that. You must have misheard that information." And he just kept saying things like that. At this point my dad and I were so upset we were starting raise our voices... And the vet had the nerve to tell me that if I "didn't want to be civil" then I could just drive down to the emergency vet on Bradshaw which is all the way in Elk Grove when I live in Placerville and our case was pretty time sensitive.. So that just made me even more pissed because it just seemed like he was trying to cover his ass and try to get us to leave. But that was not gunna happen until they helped us because they're the ones who made it worse... So eventually we get a discounted bill which was fine but the vet's attitude didn't change much until after the whole procedure and was still a bit rude when I was trying to explain myself more at that time... We finally made it home around 10:45pm, so you can imagine this was a long night for us... Overall our experience SUCKED!! The assistants were lovely and very understanding but the vet was, pardon my French, a douche. I just feel bad for the other customer in there that had to hear all of it... Read Less

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! My 10 year old kitty started vomiting foam/bile and was breathing strangely, like she was in pain. It was around 10 pm so we had to take her to an emergency vet and this was the closest to my house and I called and was told they were not too busy. They did blood work which looked good and then took x-rays. Dr. Bader said he could see some sort of blockage, but thought she was going to pass it because he saw some gas bubbles in the x-Ray and it had moved from her stomach and was now in her colon. They recommended we leave her overnight so they could keep an eye on her and they would sedate her, give her fluids and put a catheter in until she passed it. Fast forward to the next morning when I get a call that our cat passed away. We were completely shocked and upset that there was no indication that this could be potentially fatal. We would have taken her to another 24 hour vet to get surgery if possible. I asked what he thought happened and he said he thought whatever was in her colon probably ruptured. This is where it gets really bad. I was told to call the clinic to get prices and options for her remains. I spoke to a gentleman who I told I wanted to get a private cremation and also wanted to see if I could come in and see her before they took her away so I could say goodbye and pay my respects. When I showed up I was still visibly upset and told him I was there to see my cat. He then says "since she died I have to get her out of the refrigerator". Thanks for letting me know that buddy. He then brings her out in a garbage bag and asks if I want him to remove the plastic so I can see her. WOW. Yeah, I think I just want to pay my respects to my cat through a plastic garbage bag. After saying goodbye I come out crying. He just stares at me and says "do you want to pay your bill now?"  I got such a cold vibe from every single person I came into contact with at this vet. I get you probably see animals die often, but they really need to work on their bedside manner with customers. A little kindness goes a long way. I was given 3 different times of deaths from 3 different people: Dr. Bader, the gentleman I spoke to on the phone, and my vet who requested the report to go over with me which I thought was strange. The thing that makes me the saddest is my cat must have been in excruciating pain and there was no pain medication administered, just anti-nausea and fluids according to their report that was sent to my regular vet. Between the vet costs and cremation we paid over $1000 for a cat that didn't come home alive and terrible customer service. I can't stress enough how bad our overall experience was with this vet. Thank you Shingle Springs vet clinic!!!  Took our senior chow in yesterday when he was in resp distress.  Wheezing, panting, drooling like crazy.  We fostered him and just recently adopted him so he didn't yet have a "regular" vet.  Calls to the vets in Cameron Park without any luck.  Dr Bader, Fallon, Aimee, Taylor.....all amazing!  (And my dog was a big pill - for the first time since I've known him he tried to bite). After steroids, albuterol and a lot of watchful waiting I think Miro has turned the corner.  He came to the counter this AM for his chicken wrapped meds and wandered around the yard.  Drinking water and took some wet food.  I appreciate that SSVC let me take him home to watch him and helped minimize costs where we could.  Dr Bader called last night and again this AM to check in.....much appreciated!  It's a teeny extra drive for us but they'll be Miro's new vet clinic!  Thanks again!!!!Ps - yes, the inside is a little cluttered and chaotic.  I don't care - I'm not going there for a spa treatment.  Happy they spend their money on meds and equipment.  New hyperbaric chamber coming soon is the rumor!  Yay! Dr. Bader didn't leave her side until he was sure she was OK to go back home. The moment I met him I could tell he had a plethora of experience, and a calming demeanor. I was a mess and he put me right at ease and I appreciate his honesty. Also reasonably priced. I definitely expected to be paying a lot more. I'm going to give 5 stars because ultimately they saved my dogs life and I can't ask for a better outcome.  I will post cons too.Last July my husband and I bought a 15 acre property in placerville.  We brought our dogs the day we closed and little did we know, the prior owners left rat poison blocks all over the property.  My 3 pound Yorkie got one and was eating it!  Realizing what it was, and it being a weekend, I started panicking, looking up vet hospitals on my phone.  Shingle springs vet was the only one that came up. We immediately called while we were driving there.  It took us about 15 minutes to get there and when we got there, they wasted no time with paperwork.  They grabbed my dog and immediately began treating him.  We were sent home with a regiment of vitamin k and told what to look for in the coming month.  The bill was quite reasonable considering the emergency.  My dog is not just a dog.  He's like a child to me and losing him would be unbearable.  Today, I woke up and noticed that he wasn't acting like himself.  This is a year later and completely unrelated.  The dr thought he may have an eye infection but I insisted on blood work too just to be certain.  I thought the dr could be a bit more proactive but I also appreciated his conservative approach considering how costly vets are.  They did a heart worm and blood work and said they'd call me.  This was around 10:30am.  Granted, I called in the morning and they wasted no time getting us in right away.  I called around 6pm and the receptionist said they left a message but wasn't even sure of the spelling of our name.  How do you know they called then??  Anyway, she wouldn't give me results but had the dr call me back.  He has an infection but I wasn't able to drive back down because of the time.  I have 5 kids and bedtime and baths, etc were already in the works and I'll have to go tomorrow morning instead.  It's a bit disdaining since I could've started him on the antibiotics in the morning if I had received a call right away.  Anyway, overall, I think they're a good vet office and I will be bringing all my pets in to see them, and arranging for livestock care too. We brought our cat here in an emergency situation because our regular vet was closed. Our cat had cancer and took a turn for the worse and was struggling to breath.  We knew we were going to have to put him to sleep. We made an appointment but we're not told at that time they would only accept cash or check. After we got there we were told that we had to pay cash. We left with our cat to find an atm. When we returned the girls at the front desk were less than caring. They put us in a small room to wait for the Dr. After about 15 minutes the Dr came in and after 2 attempts to administer the injection it took effect. The whole experience was very uncaring. I would never recommend this vet if you care about your pets Read Less

To the vets and the entire staff, There is nothing I can do or say to ever express my gratitude and love for you all, all of you who not only saved my baby but also cared about him and loved him as much as I do. I called everyday and sometimes multipul times to check on him and ask questions, you guys were so patient and so kind. I truly believe that your guys love for these animals that aren't yours is what saves them. My kitty Harrison got sick and was just a little guy and I truly thought for a minute there he wouldn't make it but you guys were honest with me, patient, and caring and in such a sad and stressful time you made it all so much easer. I now have my baby home snuggled right up next to me and my heart is so full and I have you guys to thank for it. Not only is every single vet on your team simply amazing but ever single person on your staff is just as amazing. So kind, so caring, and so patient. Thank you guys for everything but most of all thank you for loving my baby!!!!! To anyone who is ever looking for a vet wether it be for normal care or emergency care this is the place to take your babies. I will never take my fur babies anywhere else ever again!Read Less

Sorry to say I won't be coming back here. I brought my younger cat here for emergency early one morning, everything seemed fine and I was told I'd get a call around 11AM. I called them at 12:30 to check in and was told no one had seen her yet. OK, I understand I dropped her off without an appointment, no big deal. Four comes around and I get a call from Dr. Bader that they can't find anything wrong with her but they want to give her fluids and something else. I was quoted $170 for what we had discussed and OK'd it over the phone. I asked if I could come pick her up after 5 and Dr. Bader said yes. When I got there to pick her up my total had somehow become almost $300 without an explanation AND without my approval. I told the two girls this at the desk, and the gentleman that had taken us in that morning peeked out and said "I told you that it could vary when you dropped her off". Excuse me, no you did not. And even if you had, I authorized $170, not $289. One of the girls went behind the counter to apparently speak with Dr. Bader after trying to explain to me why they were trying to overcharge me, which was a bunch of crap, and she comes back out to tell me they were going to drop the price to $183. Fine, I didn't want to argue with them any more. I paid my bill and left with my cat. On a side note, Dr. Bader only spoke to me on the phone the one time. I had honestly expected, like my past experiences with vets, that he would want to speak with me regarding what they did and why and whatever else. Did not happen. I will not come back here for anything. Read Less

Just before we left, a man brought his puppy in and they worked on it and then came out and told him his pup had passed and he went to take it home to bury it, About 5 minutes later the man returned with his puppy in hand and said " its still alive!, it's making noise" SO the tech said " sometimes they come back" I was appalled I will never take my precious babies back to this vet, and neither should you! My experience with Dr. Bader was more than satisfactory. Dr. Bader is an extremely experienced and intelligent doctor that treated both myself and my animals with the utmost respect and diligence. I will never trust my animals to anyone other than Dr. Bader. Dr. Bader has always treated my dogs and cats but recently I had a large animal emergency, and was fortunate enough to know the best doctor in the business. My doe was in labor at about 3:00 in the morning, and was having difficulty delivering. I called the doctor, and he made himself more than available and was there immediately. The doctor performed a c-section and delivered two doe babies. I am happy to report that the mother and both her kids fully recovered and are living healthy lives. Dr. Bader is always willing to go out of his way and think outside the box to get the best possible results, always looking at all the options. The doctor checked in on my goats' progress regularly and had a very supportive and efficient staff that helped to ensure the best possible outcome for my goats.Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!!First off if you have had the experience I have you should make a complaint to:dca.ca.gov/webapps/cru/g…breeze.ca.gov/datamart/l…There license number is: 5734The license is under: SHINGLE SPRINGS VETERINARY CORPNow for my story, I brought my older male cat in because he had a UTI, which requires a fairly simple procedure to evacuate the bladder and some monitoring.  He had this procedure done before at my regular vet.  We called on the day that we were supposed to pick him up. Read Less

LIFE THREATENING MISDIAGNOSIS BY TWO OFFICE DMV'S. ONE DOCTOR, THE CLINIC OWNER SUGGESTED MY K9 WAS HAVING HORMONAL ISSUES AND I SHOULD HAVE HER THYROID TESTED -- WITHIN HRS AFTER CONVERSATION WITH DR BADER I RUSHED MY DOG TO A VETERINARY HOSPITAL WHERE SHE UNDERWENT MAJOR PYOMETRA OPERATION. DR BADERS OFFICE ($300 TOTAL FEES!) EXAMINATION OF MY 17 LB DOG PERFORMED BY DR BURTIS CLAIMED HER UTERUS HAD NO DISTENTION (ENLARGED) AND SIZE WAS NORMAL (4 OZ) AFTER EMERGENCY REMOVAL OF MY DOGS INFECTED, EXTREMELY DISTENDED UTERUS/OVARIES WEIGHTED OVER 1/2 LB. THE INCOMPETENT, NEGLIGENT CARE RECEIVED FROM SHINGLE SPRINGS VETERINARY DOCTORS COULD HAVE KILLED MY DOG! IT WAS MY OWN PHONE CALLS FOR A SECOND OPINION THAT SAVED MY DOGS LIFE. 5 STAR RATING ONLY SO THIS REVIEW GETS POSTED UP FRONT FOR PATRONS TO READ AND BEWARE - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE TO MY WORST ENEMY!!

Take your animals to Marqueen in Roseville which has an average of 5 stars on their Yelp reviews. Read Less

Yay! My dachshund ate rat poison late at night and living right down the street I had seen Dr. Baders office before so being in a panicked I took my Daisy girl there. They put everything on hold to take care of her, not to mention I did not have to wait at all to be seen despite others being there. They didn't hold off on looking at her until the paperwork was done but instead took her right back and began treatment. I appreciated the importance they put on it. As I was walking out the door he assured me that he would be there if there was anything that came up despite the hour. He is definitely my go to. Thank you Dr. Bader, you saved my best friend. When we returned the girls at the front desk were less than caring. Read Less
