Dr. Rabiner and her staff are fabulous.  I found this office from all the great yelp posts and I was not disappointed. Dr Rabiner is a true professional. She is caring, knowledgeable, and takes her time during appointments.  Her staff is also very pleasant and they treat you like family. My 2 year old son loves to go with me, because he gets to play with the toys in the waiting area and also gets a cookie from his favorite person Ellie!!  By far the best and most affordable vet I have been to. Wow all I can say is I finally found a great vet that has such a patient nature that my dogs don't even know they're getting a shot I have never had a vet like her I have very timid nervous dogs especially my jindo and Dr Rabiner just has a way about her that makes your pet comfortable I have 3 dogs and all my dogs love Dr Rabiner Read Less

We recently moved to Simi Valley and within our first year, my oldest cat of 18 years started to fail.  I took him into Dr. Rabiner and she took good care of him.  After a couple of days he was doing much better.  Sadly after a few months he started to decline again and the next time I brought him in, it was the last.  I was heartbroken.  He was my friend for the last 17 years of his life.  She was compassionate, caring and loving to us.  Her staff was very kind too.  We received hugs and condolences from them and a lovely card in the post a few days later.  This past week I got a letter saying a donation was made to a Veterinary School in honor of my late cat.  Such great people here.  Thank you for treating us like we've been with you forever. Dr. Rabiner and all the staff here are the best in town. They care more about the healthy and safety of your pet than anything else. My chihuahua hates the vet, but is surprisingly comfortable at this office. Everyone is so nice and caring here. Read Less

The best and kindest vet, I've ever worked with. All my dogs (3) dogs and assorted knitters have seen Dr. Rabiner. She does the best for your animals and explains very throughly. I am blown away by the kind, caring and gentle touch that Alamo Veterinary has with my Cattle dog. My Lacey did not like her last Vet, she feared him. I finally listened to her "opinion" and found a new place; the best thing I could have ever done for my dog! Dr. Rabiner and her staff welcomed Lacey with open arms and took the time to make her as comfortable as possible in their office. I am thrilled with the attention and care they give my dog. It was mine and my dogs first visit last week Thursday.  I was disappointed that I had to wait an hour before we saw the doctor and this was with an advanced appointment which is why I am only giving it a 4 stars.  On another note, Dr. Rabner and her staff are very nice, friendly, and seems knowledgeable. Best vet around. We take our two pups here. We have been coming for about 2 years. We shopped a few vets when we first got the puppies and this one is by far the best. They are very fair! They offer amazing advice and really care about pets. We moved to Thousand Oaks and still come here because we wouldn't go anywhere else. Make sure you take your pet here!! I cannot recommend Alamo vet, Dr. Rabiner and all of the staff enough. I would give this place 10 stars if I could! My family had been bringing our loved pug Buster for years before it closed, we couldn't find a vet that quite fit like this place so naturally when it re-opened we were thrilled! But by this time our pug was an old man. Despite his aging, I did not believe it was time to let him go yet, not until we had tried everything in our power to help him feel comfortable and happy. Dr. Rabiner helped us tremendously to explore all potential options to help our old man as best as we could. After trying a few treatments, we came to the decision to let him go and it was immensely difficult. I wasn't able to go in with him as I wasn't strong enough to, but my parents explained how kind and gentle and loving everyone was that day, and that they ultimately reassured me that I was doing the right thing for him. To know that he was that taken care of that day means THE WORLD to me. Not to mention the letter (pictured) we received a few weeks later from University of Missouri that Dr. Rabiner had made a donation in memory of Buster, I couldn't stop crying knowing she cared this much about my baby boy too! She's a good vet but I totally got screwed. They did not give my dog the free vaccine they claimed and they performed all these treatments on my dog without telling me the price until the end. I cannot trust a place like this. Now I need a new vet :( Read Less

Everyone in the office is so friendly. You know you'll be taken care of when you come here, especially if Kelly Jo is working. I've called twice in the past few weeks for my cats and both times she was able to squeeze me in within an hour. Dr. Rabiner is one of the best vets I've ever been to. She won't beat around the bush with you, and really knows her stuff. I know all three of my cats are in good hands here. My dad has also used their boarding for his two dogs when he goes out of town and doesn't trust any other boarding place now. The dogs always come back happy and healthy with freshly trimmed nails. I absolutely love this place. Both mine and my parents dogs come here. Dr. Rabiner is my favorite vet I've been to, she's so good with all of our dogs and doesn't jump to the most expensive options.  The front staff are equally nice and caring. I recommend this place to everyone. Read Less

This review is long overdue! Back in July of this year (2015), Dr. Rabiner and her team at Alamo Veterinary  Hospital LITERALLY saved the life of our Golden Retriever, Reggae. Due to some bad advice from a different pet hospital in Woodland Hills, we thought we would have to put him down. After much family discussion and a 2nd opinion from Dr. Rabiner (and SIGNIFICANTLY less cost quote to boot), he got the surgery he needed and everything went smoothly, especially his overnight stay there. Everyone was SO kind! I can honestly say, of all the vets we've been to through life, this experience has been the best. It's a bit of a drive for us, but from now on I want to stay with this one. You know how important it is to have a good doctor for yourself, well Dr. Rabiner & her staff is the best for Reggae. They were very kind and caring. I received a follow-up call to make sure Luka was okay. I am a totally overly protective doggy mom, and with my 7 month old puppy, Oliver, I have been especially challenged bringing him to the vet. BUT going to Alamo was amazing! I felt so supported and heard by the people that answered the phone and then the receptionist, and of course, Dr. Rabiner. Something really special that I experienced today was that everything they did with Oliver was done in front of me, with me helping and thus, making it easier for him. They never took him away from me, which has happened everywhere else I've gone, and Dr. Rabiner spent over a half houror more! with us, explaining everything and we never felt rushed. Alamo Veterinary Hospital and Pet Inn was recently re-opened by the original vet who owns this clinic, Dr. Natalie Rabiner,  Very excited to have her back in Simi!  Dr. Rabiner  is amazing.  You won't find anyone who cares as much about your pets as she does.  Dr. Rabiner saved my dog's life when my dog had some type of seizure on a Friday afternoon - Dr. R fit us in right away, diagnosed her previously unknown heart problem, got her on meds right away, and stayed with her late into the evening to make sure she was stable enough to go home. I would never even consider taking my dog to anyone else. Give Dr. Rabiner a try - you won't regret it! Read Less

Been coming to Alamo vet for 8 years with our dog. The staff now is a bunch of uncaring youngsters. I made a decision to discontinue treatment on my daughters terminally ill hamster, and Dr Amezcua turned his back on me in mid sentence and did not return. I paid the bill and left. I sent him an email when she died 48 hours later to say thank you for his efforts, and never even got a response. Nice. We won't be returning, which is a real shame, because he was excellent with our dog. However, there's a lot of excellent vets out there. I no longer recommend this one, they were obviously just in it for the money. Read Less

They are under new ownership now and I have to tell you this is the best vet I have ever had any of my pets seen by (I have 5 3 dogs and 2 cats). Our new puppy ate a poisend rat and if not for Dr. Amezcua she would not be here today!! Cost was 1/2 of what another local vets office was and 2x less expensive then Canjo Valley Animal Hospital. My lovely old Lab Ruby had an ear infection that resulted in a hematoma and my schedule makes it impossible to get to a Vet during normal business hours. I just happened to be reading my Acorn and saw an ad that Alamo Veterinary was under new Mgt and was announcing extended and emergency care and made an appt to see Dr. Nagel. She was so compassionate and took all the time I needed to answer my questions and reminded me so much of Dr. Rabiner that I had been seeing for 15+ years prior to her (way too early) retirement that I will be back. Ruby and I can confidently recommend Dr. Nagel at Alamo Veterinary. Okay truth be told Ruby is on the fence - she is not at all fond of the E-Collar but she really loved Dr. Nagel & Kiki! Read Less

I'm not sure what happened at your clinic, why I was treated so rudely the last time I came into your office but I will no longer be taking my pets to your clinic. Your fees are too expensive and the office staff is very uncaring and down right rude. You don't seem to care about the well being of the animals or the people that come into your clinic. Remember there are hundreds of vets out there to choose from, you have lost my business forever and I will let others know of your poor service!! Is there a negative star, one star is too high of a rating for your clinic, but I had to rate it one start to be able to make this posting. Read Less

I was worried that my dog wasn't feeling well because he was groaning a lot for what seemed to be no reason. I let it go for a few days and then I got worried so I decided to take him to the vet. The doctor there examined him by poking and prodding him with his hands for a bit. Then he told me that I should play with my dog more and maybe buy him a new toy to put him in a better mood and then he won't groan anymore. (my dog gets more attention and toys than most children do). So in the end he basically charged me 42 dollars to tell me to be nice to my dog and buy him a toy. idiot. Read Less

I took my Cat in for a routine test, doesn't require an office visit, Dr Cisneros said he needed to exam her and charged me an office visit to look at my cat. that's all he did was look at her. After three days the test came back and the thyroid levels were high and he increased her dosage by four times. I explained her history of having the beginning stages of renal failure along with the thyroid condition and he said that the increased dosage was the correct course. I returned to the vet the next week to see the results for myself and again explained her history and that treatment with tapozal for thyroid would increase the chance for renal failure and he again convinced me his way was the right course. After all, He's the Vet. After a month of the increased dosage we noticed that the cat was not urinating in her box but outside it. She was also starting to lose a lot of weight. I took her back to the vet and they ran their tests again, with a charge and found that she was in complete Renal Failure to the point of no return. Her health completely deteriorated within two days to the point of suffering. ""They could take her in and do a thousand things that will cost all this and she might live"", They didn't even bother to offer to correct the wrong they caused. Prognosis not good. In the end I decided to end her suffering. I recently found the Dr Cisnero is no longer there. I don't even get the satisfaction of knowing if this man knows he teminated my friend of 17 years. Alamo was one of the best vet hospitals in Simi. There was a waiting list to get a pet even seen there at one time. Now its all about the money, so it seems. If you value your friend I recommend you seek out another Vet. Read Less

My dog was dying and Dr. Cisneros saved her life and taught me how to care for my dog so that I could have her a little longer. The staff is always concerned about my dog whenever I call or come in. Even though my circumstances are difficult, I have had only the best of care for my pets there. I am so surprised to see some of the comments that are here. I have had no such experiences here and I have been taking my three dogs to Alamo Vet for four years. Sorry to hear that Dr. Cisneros has left though. Lets hope the quality of care stays the same. Sorry to say, but Jody Milburn is now practicing in Thousand Oaks at the Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks on Avenida de los Arboles. It's a little farther for me to travel, but I just can't see anyone else with my dogs health care. I have been with her for approximately 6 years and I trust her. She is a wonderful vet! Read Less
