Loved it here! Brought my 2 year old Rottweiler Akita mix, Fry, here just a little over a week ago and was greeted by many kind, smiling staff. One of the staff girls couldn't keep her hands off of Fry (which he LOVED) and he was eager to go back into the room with her. We had been going to Dr. Ron's but I grew tired of their lack of passion. They never once even said hello to my Fry boy. The veterinarian (forgot the name!) Was a real sweetheart and loved Fry as well. She listened to my concerns and answered all of our questions! Will definitely be switching here for Fry's vet appointments! Read Less

Amazing office, the staff are so nice and polite. I have been taking our 2 cats and dog here for years. The office manager too she was great helped explain to me what was going on with my dog. I am very disappointed in this clinic. I requested 3 vaccines (rabies, bordetella and DA2PP). I specifically stated I wanted the 1 year rabies vaccine. The front desk clerk misunderstood me. Now my dog has the 3 year rabies vaccine. Fine. Mistakes happen. But now, 3 hours later my dog's face is completely swollen up while the clinic has no answer or answering service. They open again almost 2 full days after the initial vaccination. Listening to the pet owners would help prevent problems from occurring. Found Dr. Barnes in 2005 when our golden had a stroke at thirteen years. He wasn't able to walk his hind legs gave out on him and he already had arthritis. He wasn't doing well and called around early evening cause we didn't find him until we got home. Called many vets in the area asking for a phone consultation and possibly looking into euthanasia.When I called Angeles Animal hospital Dr. Barnes got on the phone and answered all my questions. The office was still open and he had us come in for an appointment/consultation. After evaluating our Max Dr. Barnes told us he still had a lot of life left. He prescribed anti inflammatories and said to get him moving slowly. Low and behold he was back to walking the next day a little slow and wobbly but he was on the mend. I can't express how happy I am with Dr. Barnes.  I have been taking my 1.5 year old Rottweiler to Dr. Barnes for a year now and have been provided nothing but excellent service at a very reasonable price. Every time I see Dr. Barnes, I walk away from the appointment with absolute comfort and with a bill that is always below expectations. How can you possibly beat that? I've been to Angeles Animal Hospital a handful of times. I own a pet care business, so I get to meet a lot of veterinarians. After getting to know several, my husband and I decided this was the best one for our pets. I have a high maintenance Italian Greyhound who is always getting himself into trouble, and a very touchy Bernedoodle. The staff is super friendly toward the animals, and is courteous and accommodating toward us. I have never waited more than ten minutes to get into a room. Dr. Barns always takes his time to understand the whole situation, and clearly answers our questions. This is the only veterinarian I've ever been to who takes the time to explain what he is doing for my pets and why. To top it off, the prices are phenomenal. I highly recommend Dr. Barns and his wonderful staff to all the pet owners I know. The way they do things turns a vet visit from a stressful chore into a pleasant experience. Read Less

Found Dr Barnes and his staff extremely pleasant, conscientious, and very compassionate about animals and their health. I did not have a regular vet in town as I had only moved recently and my cat found me. Recently he had gotten badly hurt, and going through yelp to find a veterinarian close by. I wanted to take him to Dr. Ron's, because they were much closer but when I saw Dr. Ron's on yelp and saw all the horrible reviews- I contacted Angeles animal hospital! They took us right away and were so nice and so sweet and diagnosed the problem right away and gave me several options as well as payment options! I could not be more grateful for all of the care they gave my cat and all the help they provided! He's on the road to recovery from what could have been much worse and possibly a reason to put him down. Today I brought my cat to this animal hospital and had a HORRIBLE experience. My cat started throwing up and having diarrhea, and he has had this going on for a week now. At first, I thought he was just throwing up because I had to feed him a different type of food for two days because my order of Science Diet was going to arrive later than expected.I spoke to the this vet clinic and they told me the cat food would be out of his system within 48 hrs and to bring him in for a check up. We saw Dr. Barnes and he was the rudest vet I have ever met. When I informed him that I had four cats, he immediately glared and said "You have too many cats" and that, that was why my cat was sick. He told me that my cat is throwing up because he is eating all of the food so the other cats can't eat. He told me he could run tests but he didn't think it was worth the time. He refused to listen to me when I told him that he is a sweet cat and he doesn't do that type of thing. He repeatedly spewed out rude comments on my ability to raise my cats, how I feed them, and that he had no idea how I was going to fix the problem of my cat eating all of the food (WHICH DOESN'T HAPPEN).I will never go there again, and I suggest that you don't either. The only good thing that came out of this visit was the bag of food for upset stomach's that he recommended. Hope that helps my poor kitten. I will be taking him to his normal vet (Park Animal Hosp) for a real checkup and actual answers (not opinions). Read Less

Took both my dogs in yesterday after being told by Dr Rons to go elsewhere while in the process of treating one of my dogs and I couldn't be happier! Dr. Barnes was able to do for me in one office visit what Dr Rons did in 2 months and $1400!  Thank you Dr Rons you did me a huge favor releasing me as a patient after 4 years and thousands of dollars spent! Ex- Dr. Ron patients.  Dr. Ron mistreated our dog that passed away last year and took us for everything we had.  Anyways, we took our dog in today to get checked for blockage as he's having issues popping, not eating, and low activity.  They took him in right away and did a check up on him.  I loved the way Dr. Barnes explained everything to us (something Dr Ron's never did). We decided to go ahead with getting his X-rays which they did within 15 mins.  One thing that I didn't like is that he kept calling him a "she" and when he came into the room to discuss the X-rays he yelled to the front desk "where is the chart for this one" like we were just a number.  One of my pet peeves when doctors or vets can't remember patients names.  Dr Barnes did go over the X-rays with us (another thing Dr. Ron's never did).  We were charged $210 for first time visit and X-rays. They did find blockage and then Dr. Barnes told us they would give him bromeum and do more X-rays which would cost $380+ to see where the blockage begins and ends then most likely surgery which would cost well over $1000. We opted out and took our baby on a walk then home. We gave him a child's suppository, some magnesium sulfate, and keeping him hydrated with pedilyte and water. He's finally sleeping after being up for 24+ and drank a lot of water right before this. We're massaging his abdomen and hoping for the best. He finally passed a corn on the cob that was about Inch in length and half dollar round. My poor baby. Their prices a also high like doctor Ron's but a way better doctor, staff, and office. The girls at the front desk are amazing. I wish they had crate free pet hotel with human supervisor 24/7. Read Less

Dr Barnes has been our vet for over 20 years, We believe our Animals have always received the best of care. His Staff is very friendly and we never have a long wait. Most importantly we feel we can always trust Dr Barnes, we feel he is truly honest and trustworthy and would never recommend procedures that were not in the very best interest of our Pets or ourselves. Dr. Barns is excellent. He's experienced and so knowledgable and gentle with my dog Stella. He takes time to explain and address any matter or concerns you may have for your pet. His services are fairly priced too. Before I found Dr. Barns, I had taken my dog to another vet in Simi and was extremely shocked and blown away when they more than doubled the price they quoted me for a standard service. After that horrible experience a friend referred me to Dr. Barns, and we've been super delighted with the services he provides. The staff at Angeles Animal Hospital are all super friendly as well! Angeles Animal Hospital is truly an outstanding vet. The staff are so friendly and Dr Barns is amazing. I have been to several different vets but have never come across people who truly care about our special pets. I hate to say it but most vets charge a fortune for nothing but Dr Barns was honest and forth coming in what we could expect ahead of time before any procedure was taken. He truly cares about them and I was pleasantly surprised. My dog stopped breathing and I took him to see Dr Barns for the first time. With his diagnosis and treatment I have seen a huge improvement thanks to Dr Barns. My dog has to take 3 medications a day, I looked online at pet meds and buying the medication from Angeles Animal Hospital was cheaper than the prices online. If that isn't an indication of how great they are and how much they truly care, I am not sure what is. Honestly if you are looking for a vet that cares, and in my experience is affordable, Angeles Animal Hospital is the place for you.Read Less

I've been taking my dog to Dr. Barnes for many years and he saved her life more than once. I've never seen any mistreatment of animals in anyway. The review that says they hit or mistreat the animals is unfounded. This person offers no examples or experience to back up their claim. Please, help keep CitySearch a valuable resource by posting true reviews. Dr. Barnes has taken good care of my dog. The cons...he often does a lot of testing to make sure the exam is complete...which can get expenisive. But overall, I'm glad he takes such good care of my dog. Read Less
