We've taken several cats to Dr. Ron's Animal Hospital. One of our cats had been found on the street and needed various tests and treatments before being able to interact with our other cats. The Veterinarian and Vet Tech's were very helpful and friendly during this encounter. They were able to squeeze us in without an appointment in the late evening. We took another cat here with chronic end of life disease who received great care until she passed away. Recently we found an adorable, abandoned kitten in the street and were unable to home another cat at our house. We were afraid of taking the six week old kitten to an animal shelter that might euthanize her. I called Dr. Ron's Animal Hospital and they had room to shelter the kitten until she became old enough to adopt. I've never seen a veterinarian office look to help with this kind of situation so quickly and that's what convinced me to finally write this review. I think Dr. Ron's Animal Hospital provides a great service to the community by having such extended hours, providing great service and even helping a poor, abandoned kitten when they have the resources to shelter one. Do not go here, your sanity and pets life depends on it! I made the mistake taking my dog here during an emergency and she was ignored and pushed to the side forced to wait when the office was empty! because of their neglect two of my dogs puppies died. I walked out and took my dog to another vet right after and got stuck with paying a $80 office visit when the dr didnt even look at or touch my dog. Hospitalization was not recommended, this hospital lies and operates off of expired licenses. They have a horrible reputation. Check their yelp reviews. 1/100 simi residents would recommend this place Read Less

The care here is inexpensive, especially the vaccines, but I just can't get over the lack of service. My dog Fry is an Akita/Rottweiler mix but is the sweetest boy in the universe. Not once was he greeted by their staff, given one of the treats on the counter, or anything of that sort. After his neuter surgery (done by a clinic) Fry had a reaction to the sutures so his "coin purse" became more like a giant, swollen, softball. He was given medication by the clinic but we were told that if it starts to bleed/ooze to see a vet immediately. Well that happened, and it was bleeding qiite a bit, so I went to Ron's. Fry had to wait for quite a while, bleeding onto the floor, and then once I got back there I explained the situation. To which Dr.Ron monotonously responded, "Well there isn't much to do, do you want a bandaid?" It was rude, disgusting, and he failed to be empathetic to my concerns. I wanted to be sure it wasnt bursting or that anything else was wrong internally, as directed by the clinic, and he couldn't even provide me that comfort. Read Less

We have been clients of this vet for many years with more than one pet. Today we had an appointment at 3 pm for which we followed instructions of not feeding our pup after 8 am and bringing a stool sample. We arrived for the appointment and they said they had no record of an appointment and that we needed to pay an additional emergency fee of $33.00. Since our dog is not in an emergency situation we left. The front desk attendants could have cared less even though we had our instruction sheet from when we made the appointment. Needless to say we are looking for a new vet. Read Less

I took my baby in there hit by a car with a broken neck and they were great and fast at making him Cumfy after I put a 200$ deposit down . There was nothing we could do for my love my family my heart.. we de used the only thing that could be done is to put our family member down... They wanted more money I get it cost but I didn't get paid till two days out and had given them my last 200$ they told me to put him down was 500$ and for another pain shot I was in tears heart broken and didn't know what to do, I asked if I could give them any type of collateral even the pink slip on my car. They said no sorry we need payment now or we can't put him down.... really ? Or I could pick him up with a broken neck and take him somewhere that could work with me .... I was beside myself . Vets become what they are because they love animals right ? Well where was the comparison at all in this situation. Do not go to this place if you have to put your pet down. Unfortunately, I had to put down my 10 year old Yorkie down on Feb. 27, 2017, due to cancer. The technician advised me they would administer two shots. The first would be a muscle relaxant, followed by a 2nd shot (5 mins. later) to stop her heart. After the 1st shot, my dog started yelping, the tech walked out and said the doctor will be in a few minutes. 30 minutes later, my dog is still struggling to get up and breathing heavy. My 12 year old son thinks my dog doesn't want to be put down and is trying to "survive." I'm in tears, so are my two children. A tech finally comes in and apologies for the delay (due to another dog emergency) and advises the doctor will be in a few minutes. Dr. Ron finally comes in to administer the 2nd shot 30 minutes after the initial shot. I'm so distraught, I walk out. I call Wednesday March 1st at 3 pm and speak with the receptionist. She advised me she would have Dr. Ron or the office manager (Gabby) call back. I just wanted an explanation why it took so long to administer the 2nd shot and more importantly why my dog appeared to be suffering after the 1st shot. I had to follow up on Friday since no one called me back. I was told Gabby would call me back later that day or Saturday. I gave specific instructions to the receptionist to call me back and gave her my direct cell phone number. She repeated my instructions (at my request). My wife did not want to deal Dr. Ron because she had the same experience when she had put her cat down several years ago. Guess what, they call my wife and left a message on her voice mail. I call back Saturday, March 3rd at 3:10 pm and was advised Gabby was with a someone but was assured she would call me back. After an hour, I check to see when the office was closed. Guess what, their office closed at 4 pm. I had to leave another message on their voice mail. I'm not holding my breath. So today, March 6, 2017, instead of returning my messages, you post your response to my Yelp Review. Wow...really, You put more effort in responding to my negative review on Yelp and instead of trying to return my three messages I left for Gabby (since your staff advised me that Dr. Ron did not want to deal with my concerns). The issue was not my children being present while we put out beloved dog down. The issue was you left us waiting for 30 minutes while my dog suffered. Your lack of professionalism really shows and your poor "bed side manners" expressed by the numerous negative reviews ring true (half of your reviews are 3 stars or less). Look at your numerous negative reviews on Google. By the way my 15 year-old and 12 year-old children were traumatized because you left our dog to suffer for 30 minutes and not one of your staff came by to check on my dog. Your explanation that you had an another "dog" emergency does not excuse the fact that no one from your staff came to explain the delay. Your attempt to say that my children were "victimized" because they chose to be with a beloved family member who was suffering and the tough family decision to put her out of her misery is really a sorry attempt to skirt that fact you and your staff at Dr. Ron were in the wrong. You made no attempt to explain why you haven't returned any of my calls or attempted to address our concern. Instead you or your staff try to turn it around and make a very vile and unprofessional attempt to turn it around and fault my family by saying "we attempted to guide you in making the decision to have children present..." but the truth is that my children wanted to be there so they could say "good bye" to Isabel. So stop trying to make me out to be the bad guy. It's not your place to judge me or my family to be present in the final stages of our dog's life. Your job, which you FAILED HORRIBLY, was to make sure our beloved K9 family member did not suffer. Unfortunately, she did suffer for 30 minutes before Dr. Ron administered the final shot...30 MINUTES LATER! Read Less

First disappointment is that it€s not a warm or friendly environment like it used to be. No one there seems very happy to be working there. (At least, the times I€ve been there). Another disappointment is that when I asked questions about my pup€s injury and later when I asked questions about his shots, I was quickly brushed off like I was either asking stupid questions or I just wasn€t worth their time to answer my questions thoroughly. I felt like an inconvenience to them. Third disappointment (and related to the second) is that because of their lack of interest in me and my pet, I ended up giving my pup unnecessary shots (& spending much more $$ than necessary). Had they taken an extra five minutes with me when I was asking how shots worked, I would not have had them give him shots prematurely, and now the shots we just gave him and paid for were a waste of time, money, and hardship for puppy. Fourth disappointment is that it seems they overcharge you for the simplest things. Maybe this is the norm for all vet offices? I won€t go into detail but I get the feeling I€m being duped with extra charges because what do I know? Maybe my dog needs it? Maybe they€re just being cautious and do every procedure and give you every medication as a precaution (and I appreciate being on the safe side), but since the Vet€s bedside manner is so cold, it ends up seeming like they€re just playing you. I guess it boils down to a trust issue. Lastly, and pretty important to me, is that a medication was prescribed for my pup (at the time, I thought it was probably an unnecessary medication but I didn€t follow my gut and instead trusted the Vet), and it ended up making him very sick. He was only 8 weeks old and he vomited over and over and he became very lethargic and wouldn€t eat or drink or really respond to me at all. It really scared me. I looked up the medication to find out that many Vets disapprove of giving this medication to puppies. I called to share my concern and Dr. Ron called me back (so that was nice). Unfortunately, he dismissed my concerns and implied it was not true that Vets disapprove of giving this medication to puppies (iow, I must either be lying that this is what I found online or all the Vets that said that are wrong ) and that it€s perfectly normal and okay to give this medication to puppies. Okay, fine, I€m glad you are confident, Dr. Ron, about this medication but it DID, indeed, make my pup extremely sick and it scared the crap out of me, so can I get one smidgen of sympathy? (fyi, writing this under my son's account since I don't have one yet!) Read Less

I brought my lab in for her 10 year check up yesterday and was so delighted with my visit. She was even examined by the Dr. Ron himself! He did a full, outer body feel and checked for anything abnormal. He even sat on the floor with her! After she passed, he then recommended a full blood panel to see how she is inside and how her organs are functioning to see if there are any concerns for supplements needed. The lab tech took her back for labwork and was so friendly with her. I've always had issues trying to trim her nails, so I mentioned that and he trimmed them for me at no charge! He was running a fever and they took blood to send off to the lab and find out what was wrong. Told me they would call the next day. It was nearing the end of the day the following day and no cal. My cats temperature had not dropped. I called them and I was told to just wait for them to call me. Another day went by. I called again. Was placed on hold for 30 mins to wait for a technician. The technician gave me attitude told me all of the results weren't back in and I needed to wait for them to call. I explained that my cats temp had not gone down. This technician then told me I should have brought him back if the temp didn't go down. What good would that have been if they don't know what's wrong with him?? It has now been a week and I haven't heard a single thing from them. My cats temp finally went down but I don't know what he has and if my other animals could have contracted it. I'm SOOO HAPPY I spent over $300 to be given the run around and not know what was wrong with my animal. We will never be coming back here again. I can't comment regarding some of the bad reviews on here, but I can say that my experiences at Dr. Ron's have been great. I have had many pets go there through the years and I have been to other vets as well. First, as far as fees go, they are either comparable to others or usually less. Their new offices are really nice and office hours cannot be beat. Last year when my best friend and companion was diagnosed with bone cancer and it was time to help her cross over the Rainbow Bridge, I didn't want it to happen at the vet's office since my baby was terrified of the place. Dr. Ron came to my home on a Sunday morning to help her cross over surrounded by the people and home that she loved. He showed great compassion. I was inconsolable. He never rushed me or made me feel like he had somewhere else to be. They have many many clients and yet when I call to ask a question, most of the front office knows my dogs and each of my dog's situations. If they are busy and need to look up information in my file or ask the vet, they always call me back as soon as they are able. Whenever my dogs have come in with an issue or have been given new meds, they call the next day to see how they are doing. All vets, as well as human doctors, give you a list of different options when considering a procedure. Many times I have opted not to do several things of the list of estimates and NEVER have I been made to feel like I was being a bad pet owner. I have a new puppy at the moment and I bring her in on a regular basis just to weigh her. We are always met with a smile, warm words, and everyone always greets her like they haven't seen her in months. I can't imagine going anywhere else with my babies.Read Less

Dr Ron's is a great hospital and vaccine clinic. They give you all your options for treatment of your pet and are the least expensive in town. If you can't afford it all they help you decide where best to start with your pet. I love that they offer a low cost vaccine clinic so pets from all over can get the vaccines they need to stay healthy and keep from spreading diseases. I think people need to keep in mind that the staff at any hospital are there to service your pets and at especially busy hospitals (like this one) cannot always be people pleasers. It's usually a stressful time and the staff have a very stressful job. Even if you're going in for a well-check or just a healthy new puppy, the staff probably have a few very sick animals in back with stressed out owners they are dealing with. We are all human and deserve a break once in a while. A smile goes a long way on both ends . That being said, unless I move out of state, I will always take my animals to Dr Ron's knowing they are a busy hospital, but will still take the best care of my beloved pets!Read Less

We have the highest praise and thanks to Dr. Ron and his staff for performing in home euthanasia for us yesterday, on no notice. We lost a 17 year old American Eskimo who had been with us since 1999 as an adoption. We did not want to transport the dog to our regular vet, and were referred to Dr. Ron's office by our vet. Dr. Ron's office staff were so very sympathetic and compassionate, and went above and beyond to arrange the house call. Dr. Ron was so professional in performing what turned out to be a challenging procedure given the dog's dehydrated state. We cannot thank Dr. Ron and his staff enough for helping us, on no notice, with this most difficult and painful task. Based on this single experience, Dr. Ron will always hold an honored place in our thoughts.Read Less

I cannot say enough about Dr. Ron's. We moved 50 miles away from Simi and still make the trip to make sure our furry kids receive the best care. Dr. Ron has come through for us many times. The last time was with our little "pound pup", Isaac. We didn't know he had heart failure when we adopted him, but Dr. Ron quickly diagnosed it. Thanks to Dr. Ron's life extending protocol, we were able to have 2 extra years with our boy. Thank God for the affordable, compassionate care we depend on from Dr. Ron's.Read Less

First off, both my husband and I deal with the public in ?heping professions? and know from experience that no matter how competent and professional one tries to be, there are always angry people looking to spread hostility-and those are the ones who complain the loudest. Secondly, we are both in the medical profession, and deal with emergencies on a regular basis. That said, when our newly adopted, 6 lb, scruffy, stray dog began seizing after eating snail poison we knew he was going to DIE if he did not get the best emergency attention immediately. It was 10pm, and our only option-we thought- was to go to a 24 hour animal hospital that we had prior experience with and were not impressed with. Our neighbor offered to call Dr Ron Resnick -of Dr Ron?s animal Hospital in Simi Valley. He was planning to open a 24 hour hospital in the near future, and so we agreed to impose on him at home, as he is also our regular vet. Upon hearing our dog?s symptoms he simply said ? meet me at the hospital now? and with in 5 minutes he was there, in tennis clothes -unlocking the office, turning on lights and single-handedly beginning full resuscitation efforts on our beloved pet. My husband, children and I witnessed a true expert at work- This Dr knew his business and carried it out right in front of us! ( Many Doctors will NEVER let themselves be watched under stressful situations- and with myself and my children sobbing, I give him extra points for staying cool!!) My husband and I both have decades of experience working with emergency room doctors, and know a good one when we see one! Due to Dr Ron?s expert emergency care our little guy did survive...and is a healthy thriving member of our family today! I have read the negative reviews of Dr Ron?s animal hospital and I will only suggest that a pet owner ?consider the source? of the reviews- Does the writer seem like a disgruntled person who has problems paying bills? Or somebody who gets annoyed with staff? Or does the reviewer seem to have credibility, and be speaking about the skill of the doctor. Personally, I don?t need my vet to be my friend, I just want him to be excellent at taking care of my animals in a crisis situation- and Dr Ron demonstrated that to us clearly. Read Less

I walked out and took my dog to another vet right after and got stuck with paying a $80 office visit when the dr didnt even look at or touch my dog. Hospitalization was not recommended, this hospital lies and operates off of expired licenses. They have a horrible reputation.

I have been bringing my animals here for years. Never had a problem with them. My cat got sick recently and I had to take him in. They have taken very good care of my baby. I hear a lot of mumbo jumbo here with negativity. Go somewhere else! And then if someone knows I've taken my dog here, they say something negative. I haven't had anything but a good expierence. If you don't like them, go elsewhere. If you tell me to go somewhere else, go kick rocks. If I ever have a bad expierence, I will walk away quietly, instead of bashing them. Keep up the good work! Read Less

They take advantage of you and rape you for every cent they can get. Please spare yourself and go to a reputable vet as these guys don't care about animals, only filling the cash register. 1. My small dog has an eye allergy. 2. They won't fill the eye medicine prescription he needs unless I bring him in, they run tests, find nothing wrong, tell me its an allergy and charge me for the same test over and over again. 3. When the tiny amount of medication they sell me runs out a few months later, they won't refill the prescription. 4. They make me come back in, run the same tests which produce the same results and charge me. 5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 Read Less

The staff was friendly and helpful. My mom and I took one of our dogs here late in the afternoon because she was having trouble walking and jumping and we didn't know what was wrong. Immediately after we got there the girls up front showed concern for our sweet girl. They quickly got us our paperwork to fill out and then took us back. They let me hold her while they looked at her and really listened to what we said. They took her back to examine her and when they came back to the room the made sure they explained everything and told us what we could do. They gave us detailed instructions on how and when to give her her medications. They called us this morning to see how she was doing and when we told them that she was worse they took her within the hour and provided us with the same great care! I highly recommend anyone to go here for their pets!!Read Less

I have always had a very good experience here. I have been taking my dog here for the last 4 or 5 years and the cost always seems inexpensive and the care is always great!

Read Less
