This is like Comfort Dental and other places to upscale and charge you extra money. Came in to get a renewal of medications my own Vet in COLORADO prescribed. The Vet here said that the medication is all wrong and that I needed to buy his medication which was more expensive. He also wanted my dog to have a urine analysis costing $366. I called my Vet, Aspen Park Vet Hospital. They said of they do the Unrine analysis it was only $40, and if they sent it out then it was $60. These guys are a total cost gouging scam artist. In fact the vet here had never heard of the medication my dog was already on. DON'T TRUST THEM! Read Less

We brought 2 of our 3 dogs in because we had a horrible experience with another vet who physically hurt 2 of our babies. They were in a lot of pain from anal glands being expressed. Rancho Sequoia Vet took us in the same day I called them without charging an "emergency fee" and treated us and our 2 babies very well. Super nice receptionist/nurse and very loving to our girls. We were seen pretty quickly by the Dr who confirmed my suspicions about the previous vet, tearing 1 rectum. The Dr was very nice and loving also and explained a lot for us. We will for sure bring our babies back here and will recommend this office to whomever asks about a good vet. Thank you so very much. Read Less

I was referred to this vet after rescuing a puppy. Very nice facility and very nice staff. I'm giving only 3 stars because I am appalled by their prices! I used to live in Agoura and even those vets offices were half the cost of this vet! My first visit that was comped still cost me $120 for ONE shot and fecal collection/analysis. Then I had to come back with a fecal sample that I collected myself and it STILL cost $75! In Agoura if you bring your own fecal sample it's only like $25 for them to test it. So, needless to say I will not be returning to this vet. I feel like it is prices like this that deter people from getting their pets the help they need! Not everyone has an extra $300 every time they step into a vets office but we all love our animals like family but can't put our human family on the street for a vet visit. I will continue going to my vet in Moorpark. It's a shame that I was under the impression that this was going to be a vet with reasonable prices since it was recommended by the rescue. Unfortunately it was not that and I should have followed my guy and took him to my regular vet. Read Less

I gave Dr. Kang, his staff, and his clinic 5 stars because....Dr. Kang - highly educated (not just a vet), super nice, patient, extremely thorough and detailed with his evaluation(s) and treatments. I brought in my dog, which was a breed he never worked with, and he did his research on my dog, and was well prepared to be his vet. I've been to many Vets in Simi Valley, as a local, and this is by far the best experience I've had with a local vet. The vets in Simi are wonderful, but I can't tell you how many of them have made me feel rushed, and don't really value my pup(s) - just my opinion on that though. I always have lots of questions, and he makes the time to answer them in detail. Staff - Staff is at par, friendly, love animals, and do their job well. Clinic - office is separated (dogs on one side, cats and exotics on the other), very clean, and well equipped. What I really love, is every time I go in there, the appointments are spaced out properly, where there isn't 10 dogs in a waiting room. Every-time, I've gone to another local vet, there office is filled with dogs and I always have to wait (even though I'm on time), and I find them unprofessional. That's not the case here - if your appointment is at 10:30, you'll be seen at 10:30 and that efficiency is important to me.Pricing - Okay...so at first I thought he was expensive as well. I did some research and his clinic visit price (the price you pay every visit regardless) is on average $5.00 cheaper or at par with local vets. Medication, shots, etc...are at par, and he has days of the months, where you can come in and your dog gets shots at a discount. I don't recall the name of the program, but for those on a budget, it's available. I haven't neutered my dog, so I don't know how he compares to other local vets on that. I bet though, if he is higher, he will price match - he seems like someone that cares more about the long-term relationship than the immediate $, but I could be wrong - let me know.If you want a vet that knows his "stuff" and makes you and your pet feel valued - then this is the vet for you. I have no idea how much surgery or any special cases cost, but the basics (shots, health checks, medicine, etc...) are competitive in pricing and you won't have to wait for long periods of time, surrounded by a dozen other animals, like most vets in Simi. I have been a customer at rancho sequoia since its opening over thirty years agoAnd have never been disappointed with its vetsHowever they don't last and after the original owner died others have sold after only a few years  I gather the profit from the business doesn't meet their expected needs.I have been pleased with the diagnoses I received from drKang even though his prices according to friends are high. I have no basis of comparison. My almost 14 year old poodle recently had an accident which dislocated his hip - I had him taken from the emergency hospital so he could be treated at RanchoThe prognosis at the hospital matched dr kang's and even though it required surgery and he is old I went along with it.I was told hip could come out of socket again after surgery and that sent up a red flag - after all the dog is in his 90's in human terms. Then more bad news - when blood tests were run my dog was sick with pancreatitis and a bladder infection that was independent of the hip problem. He was healthy for his teeth cleaning in June so this was a shock and his age was showing. That's when I began to have reservations and felt it was inhumane to put an old sick dog (they live fourteen yrs if you are lucky)through surgery with these conditions.Dr Kang had already started treatment but had called to get my permission to  treat his ills to get him ready for surgery. I said put him down and I was shocked when he said if i was asking that he wouldn't do it. I was intimidated and let him go ahead at great cost to us.He was sent home with a urine soaked bandage (called a sling) because he was in a pen. What would it have taken to clean him up with a clean one before he was handed over. And meds with no written instructions and the bandage still wrapped around his leg from the intravenous needle and told to come back in a week. They even forgot to give me his collar and we were the only patients there because they were closing. The next day the bandage fell off, the dog walked out of his pen on all four legs at great danger to himself and i had to once again take him to emergency to see if the hip came out of the socket, another X-ray and another wrapping. This was such an iffy situation from the beginning and still is and  told that if hip comes out it means another operation to put it back or removing the ball end and allowing the dog to develop his hip muscles so he can walk on his legs with one unattached at even higher costs than this operation. We are devoted caregivers and are in a quagmire with a very old dog who has lived a good life but deserves to die with dignity and not after two or three operations, especially ones that offer only recurrences of the same problem.I know we were asked to give a positive review and get a 5% discount and though I have been pleased with perfunctory exams and good diagnosis to date we can't agree with this one. My husband sees it as a profit opportunity the dr didn't want to let go of -I just want my dog to enjoy some quality of life with the little time he has left. The thing that really got me was that the emergency hospital called me to ask about the dog after our first visit and we didn't even get a call the day after surgery from our dr to ask the same thing - but then it was the weekend and you are turned over to the emergency room.He is a tough little guy and I am hoping for the best, even if he is in his nineties, but he will never undergo another surgery. When I asked at the hospital what can an owner do in that situation and the vet refuses to put the dog down and takes over and I was told that I should have taken him to another vet  - he added that after all  the dog is very old and after doing this surgery some dogs are never the same and the hip may come out needing further surgeries. Guess I should have been more forceful but it's the dr knows best mentality and in a tight situation it's easy to give in. Hindsight is always 20-20. Read Less

I was referred to Rancho Sequoia after I rescued a kitten from the Ventura County Animal Services Camarillo location. I called on a Saturday morning and was shocked when they had a spot available for me that day at 10am. So off we went! We arrived and it was nice to have 2 separate waiting rooms; one for dogs and the other for cats and exotics. We checked in and waited maybe 5 minutes before  we were in a room waiting to meet the doctor. Our kitten had her vitals checked and within 5 minutes the doctor was in to meet our kitten. He did a quick but thorough examination and was great in terms on including my two year old daughter in the process. My only gripe is that we left with 2 medications and one on order in addition to the medication my kitten was given at the shelter. She also had to have a tapeworm shot even though the shelter did a de-worming treatment.  Needless to say my free check-up turned into an almost $150 trip. I trust that the doctor gave me great service to help my kitten heal up from her upper respiratory infection but I wish there was a way that I didn't end up with such a high cost. My old vet actually gave a 20% off services if it was a rescue FOREVER. I'll be back but I'll expect that there will be a cost for sure. Read Less

Dr. Kang and his staff are the very best in Simi Valley veterinary care.  Believe me when I say this.  About 2 years ago I nearly lost my precious puppy by taking her to another local vet, trying to save a few dollars.  Never, ever will I do this again.  After 3 days of using her as a guinea pig as her health continued to decline, I took her to see Dr. Kang knowing this was the best I could do at this point.  Within 1 hour he diagnosed her properly and began treating her appropriately.  She started showing signs of improvement within 12 hours and home the next day completely on the mend.  He saved her life and mine as far as I'm concerned.  Never trust your furry, 4 legged loves to anyone else! I've been going to Ranch Sequoia Vet for over 4 years now. My dog has had this skin problem for awhile and Dr. Kang thoroughly assessed my dog.  When we first came for the problem, he provided me will all the alternatives to treat my dog. It could've just been an allergic reaction, allergy to food, allergy to shampoo, or allergy in the air. We took the necessary steps to figure out what was wrong with her. What I liked was that he did not go straight to the most expensive procedure. He went with the proper steps to find out what my dog was really allergic too. I kept trying to avoid the most expensive treatment but since the problem wasn't getting better every year I knew that was the last option. Now my dog is doing great!I feel happy with my decision and don't feel like he was just trying to get money off me. (I've had pretty bad experiences with other vets) He really respected what I wanted and always provided me with options. My one star rating is purely for the one receptionist who took my call and gave me false information that resulted in over 3 hours of my mom's wasted time, a half hour of mine, and pointless stress to my cats.Yesterday I called. A male answered the phone, and assured me that the vet would be open today (day before Thanksgiving) to take the call from my cats' new groomer to confirm shots were up to date. He told me, "Yes we'll be here." And I told him, "Great! Expect the call around 12:30, thanks!"They were not open today. By the time my mother (who was taking the cats for me while I was at work) and I found a way to access this basic information online through the cats' ePetHealth with which this vet documents the animals health, the cat groomer had to go home (he is kindly returning to work for us on black Friday when he had the day off in order to help us)I know this is one small mistake made by one person, but it was so easily avoidable and has caused so much distress to my mother and to my two cats. I called Sequoia Veterinary clinic to ask a few general questions. I am not a pet owner, although my good friend has a few dogs that I lightly adopt when he leaves town. With that said, I thought it would be a great idea to treat them to a few bacon grease dipped sticks from my yard. Little did I know, the dogs would tear through the sticks like a popular drug called crack. The older one seemed not to be fazed by the wood, although the other surprisingly starting hacking about 30 minutes later. Uh Oh. So I called the veterinarian, and asked if I should be concerned. The last thing I want, is to explain why my friends dog died over bacon sticks. That sounds horrible. Anyhow, the help desk was very helpful, and seemed to be concerned with the animal's well being. It turns out, this is not a good treat for animals, and I had to watch them closely for the next couple of days. If the dogs chewed it up enough, it is not likely to cause blockage, although it can cause constipation. Ouch! If any additional symptoms were evident, I was to bring the mutts in to see the doctor. They ended up okay, although I believe I found a great place to take my future pets. Great service and very helpful. Read Less

Read Less
