Dr Novy and his staff are the most amazing people. I have had several elderly and ill pooches and Dr Novy is always there for me. He is mindful of costs while treating his patient too. A while back my dog started writhing in pain and no one I went to could figure it out. I finally took my dog here and from the moment I walked in I knew that they were going to do what it took to figure it out. when the vet came in she immediately dropped to the floor and greeted my dog first and I knew I had picked the perfect vet. Dr Gonzales at Valley Vet is one of the best vets I've ever found. She listens to the owners and works with them to help the best she can. I brought my elderly diabetic cat in and explained I could see that she was declining but that at her age I couldn't rationalize the cost of insulin, blood tests and needles. With no judgment or guilt, she talked about the various options and I had offered to check to see if she had any insulin given by other patients that she could gift to me. I have been coming to Dr. Novy for over 20 years.  I would not have anyone else look after my fur babies.  He cares so much that when my Gizzieboy passed, he sent me a condolence card.  Who does that!  Yes, you can find cheaper prices but you'll never find a more caring, loving environment for your pets.  Although I always try to get an appointment with Dr. Novy, all of his veterinarians are great.  The staff are always friendly and respond quickly.  I highly recommend this office for your beloved pets. recently had our dog in for dewclaw removal surgery. $831.00. I was told that includes 2 free post op visits. the first time I bring my dog in for the bandage change, they charge me $50.00. I say, wait I get 2 free post op visits, they counter, the visit is free but the bandages cost $50.00....WHAT?,,$50.00 for 2 pieces of gauze and some tape that probably cost the 50 cents. at best that is very misleading. Love Valley Vet, I've brought a lot of beloved pets here over the years and have always received attentive, devoting care for each and every one of them. I even had to call in after I found out my dog had a brain tumor, and I'll never forget the woman at the front desk who sat on the phone with me as I started to cry. She took the time to comfort me and tell me that whatever would make my dog more comfortable, they would do for him and she was actually one of the very few who helped me accept what was going on during that time. A lot of respect goes out to this little veterinary clinic off Los Angeles Avenue, they deserve it and really are a group of caring, hardworking people devoted to helping animals live happy and healthy lives. I took my dog in because his ear was building up with fluid. They said they knew exactly what was wrong. Made me pay 200$ and said my dog will be fine in 2-3 weeks.. they put something in his ear. well, it's been 3 weeks and my dog seems way worse. These people are RUDE as hell too. Read Less

Valley vet was so unbelievably rude !! I have a baby kitten I adopted called the because the Animal shelter suggested we go here because they are the "best" I called sine my kitten is having a respitpry problem and is sneezing like crazy I talk to someone and they only have a 5:30 and suggest since it's SERIOIUS I try and call other vets and get an early appt, unfortunately 5:30 was the earliest so I call back and I ask for the 5:30 tell them that I am new and was told to go here and they tell me that they save their last appt for returning customers only!!!! So even tho my kitten is having respiratory issues I informed her this is the earliest appt and it is seriously they just said oh well. How do you expect to get returning customers if they won't give me the appt to save my kitten rude careless people !!! Read Less

Love is an understatement for how I feel about Valley Vet. I came in with my 120 pound boxer mix that has serious hip and knee joint issues. I was expecting them to tell me he needed surgery and tests and x-rays. Well they did tell me they wanted to do blood work and x-rays but they also didn't pressure me. They understood that I simply couldn't afford to do it, not because I don't live my pet, but because I'm a single mom with only one income. They put my guy on a pain regiment and when that wasn't good enough they switched it up. He's not 100% but he's doing a lot better than I thought he would be. I was expecting him to be put down, instead I'm working with Valley Vet to keep his quality of life as great as possible until it's really his time. We have been going to Valley Veterinary Clinic for several years now. They have always been just wonderful to our us and all our fur babies. They have been there for us for both good and bad times. I Can't say enough about the whole staff. The front office girls are all so nice, and the tech's are wonderful. I would recommend any of the vets  there however we especially like Dr. Prater, she is a gem !!I also believe their prices to be very competitive. I have been taking my golden retrievers to Valley Vet for 13 years and referring countless other friends who have also taken their animals there for more than 10 years but last Friday I was appalled how I was treated.  I came home to find my Guinea Pig barely breathing but still alive and moving around and making her sweet squeaky noises in my ear.  There was no way I was going to allow her to suffer for another minute so I called my friends at Valley Vet with no doubt they would take care of me and my little Abby.I called to hear a friendly voice and I explained the situation and that I would like to bring her in and put her to rest.  I was told to hold so they could pull my charts.  I was told they could not help me.  The disbelief and pain I felt in that moment was a likened to being stabbed in the heart.WE CAN'T HELP YOU???? I found a loving caring vet that welcomed me and Abby and humanely took care of her for $50.  I will NEVER return to Valley Vet and will tell all the hundreds of friends who have pets in Simi Valley to do the same.  Please take your animals elsewhere and be treated with respect after years of loyalty. This is not the place it used to be. Unfortunately, the doctor failed to pick up on my old kitty's paw infection. :( $400 dollars later I went home with a sick kitty and a few cans of human baby food. The robotic receptionist was useless as she gushed "I know it's expensive, huh?" Thanks for that. Needless to say, this was our last attempt at what used to be a great place for pets. I have been going to this vet clinic for ten years now and I can't say enough good things about them.  My dog almost died when he was a 9 week old puppy.  He was in the hospital for over a week and they let me come hold him twice a day for as long as I wanted.  They even let me come down on a Sunday when the office was closed.  I truly believe that this helped my baby pull through.  I have been a loyal customer ever since then.   They have several vets that work in this office but my dog's favorite is Dr. Prater.  She is great and doesn't go overboard with unnecessary labs or tests.   The office staff is always helpful and patient.  The majority of them have worked for this office many years. We have been going to Valley Vet for over a decade.  They have always taken good, compassionate care of our two poodles.  Dr. Novy took all the time we needed and always suggested things to improve the quality of life for our two pets.This week, our 17-year-old poodle Brandy, began going downhill fast.  Dr. Beth Young did several diagnostic tests and X-rays and these convinced us that her time had come. Dr. Young took all the time we needed to say goodbye to her and then gently and painlessly eased Brandy over the Rainbow Bridge.  They even allowed our other dog to be with us.  She lent us some books to read to ease our family's grief.  I can't say enough good things about Dr. Young, she's wonderful. We started going to this vet for our Two pugs about 6 years ago. They did a good job an helped Fred our male pug during a stomach problem in which we happily paid a over $1000. Our dogs are older now on on two occasions in the past 6 months we have been very dissatisfied with the service. Our female was having multiple seizures one day so we brought her in on an emergency visit. They told us she looked fine and if we wanted to schedule an appointment they could see her the next day. needless to say we were very worried about her so we took her to another vet. Recently our Male pug has been diagnosed with cancer by the "other " vet the only food he will eat is a prescription food. the other Vet is a bit of a drive so we thought we could get it locally. They refused to sell it to us even if our vet called it in. very disappointed. Read Less

My dog has a bad eye infection, seeing as it is the day after Christmas my vet was closed. So I called valley vet hoping they could help. She put me on hold for 10 min followed by telling me she could help me and get him in, I gave her his name then she asked if he had been there before as soon as I said no she said sorry, we are fully booked, good luck. They have done this to my mom as well. I was told not to call them because they are expensive but I had no choice. They don't care for animals well being.Read Less

Just got off the phone with Mindy...I must say I'm a little taken aback by the way I was dealt with. After trying to get records for a cat I rescued who we figured out had been to that clinic as a kitten, Mindy refused to even let me know anything unless the original owner was there. Does the word rescue not mean anything to you? I obviously don't know the original owner. I'm trying to take care of this cat and I can't even get a vaccine history or a birthdate. Further, it took about 9 minutes on hold to find this out. Lastly, as a first time patient and someone trying to understand my cats past, I'm surprised at the level of customer service I received. Constant interrupting from mindy as I was explaining things or asking questions, much of which the only answer I received was "sorry the owner and manager said no"...also just an over all anxious and rude demeanor over the phone that made me feel unwelcomed, maybe because I wasn't making an appointment (aka bringing any money). Can't comment on anything other than this, but as someone who has worked in healthcare (not veterinary) that's always a tell tale sign of the quality and care within. This place seems like they only care for the patients who are currently paying them and don't care as much for previous patients or just animal care in general, otherwise I think giving a new owner some info about a cat should be justified, especially when you have the file right there. The only redeeming grace is their holding music. I actually sang along to 3 songs during my 9 minute hold. Read Less

The only reason I am giving a one star is for the office staff they are really great.As for Dr.Novy I can't even believe his actions. I brought my Dane/Lab mix in for his ears being infected. When I called to make the appointment I did let them know that he is very strong and would not let anyone look in his ears.They took me into the exam room Dr. Novy came in he seemed very nice at first and he explain the he was going to have his two tech people come into the exam room and clean them there so I could help hold my dog . My dog was crazy jerking and pulling trying to get away , I did put a muzzle on him and after a couple of minutes of trying to hold him still he had pulled off the muzzle, I had noticed his tongue was purple and blue so I said "do you think we should wait a minute because his tongue is purple. He stopped got up handed me the leash and told me he will not treat my dog and for me to leave! I then was so dumbfounded I said what? He said he was dangerous and did not want him or his staff to get hurt. At that point my dog did not growl or show his teeth at all !! I am pretty sure their are way worse dogs than mine. So I went straight to park hospital and told them what had happen took my dog gave him a sedative and treated him. Why Dr. Novy couldn't do that is beyond me. Sorry so long. Read Less

Needed to have dog seen today because of blood in urine. Called and asked if they had time. Was told no problem, bring her in. When I showed up was told that there would be an extra $33 "convenience fee" above and beyond normal office visit because I had no prior appointment. Waiting room was empty so it wasn't like they were jammed or anything. . They wanted to call it an "emergency visit" when in actuality it wasn't. What a rip-off. Read Less
