Dr Palermo is the easiest veterinarian I have ever worked with. She is an excellent clinician and she has deep compassion for her patients. She is thorough without being radical. Bad service. No one even spoke to me for 10 minutes after arriving and then waited 20 minutes just to get a weight on my dog because there were several animals in the office area where the scale is located.  I had an appointment for tick protection and micro-chipping.  Paid $45 for what they said was tick repellent.  Took my dog hiking after treatment and she still gets covered in ticks.  I told the vet that the repellent wasn't working and she said it's not a repellent and that the dog has to get bit for the ticks to die.  Two people at the Pet Clinic said it was a repellent.  What's the point if they still jump on the dog and the dog gets bit?  She's still bringing ticks into the house and being exposed to tick borne diseases!   Had I been told this I'd never have paid the money nor would I have given my pooch harsh chemicals for nothing.  The micro-chipping was frustrating too.  I paid the fee at the vet then was told to call a number to register the micro-chip.  When I got home I called to register my dog and they charged me an additional fee that I was not informed of at the vet.   I would l have used a different micro-chipping  company had I known this. Very frustrating. I have heard good things about the vet but for some reason, my experience was not good.  Maybe it was just an off day for them.  If you go make sure that you get correct information about what your needing from them. I've been taking my cat to Dr. Palermo for around 4 years. It's very stressful for me to take my cat to the vet as she does not like getting put in the carrier but the stress is always eased when I go into the office because it's evident how much she and her staff appreciate the pets.  My cat has had a respiratory issue for years and Dr. Palermo has worked with me (and my limited budget) in ruling out things.  Right now my cat is on topical benadryl which at least prevents my cats episodes from getting too bad.  She is priced fairly.  No price gauging here.  I whole-heartedly recommend.... I love this woman and all of her staff. Our dog Bella is nearing the end of her life. She is a beloved member of our family and Dr. Palermo has been so kind, so thorough in helping us to keep her comfortable as she ages. When the time comes to say goodbye, I know that the folks at Sonoma Valley Pet Clinic will be there for us. We just welcomed a new puppy into our home. Dr. Palermo is fabulous. She takes her time and goes over every aspect of my dog's health.  Her staff is also very caring and efficient. My beloved little Inky can be a problem dog. She is unpredictable with other animals, sometimes aggressive. And she can be unpredictable with people as well.  Some vets have insisted on muzzling her, and I don't blame them... She gets scared and tries to bite them. But in the calm and loving environment of Dr. Palermo's no-frills office, she is a different dog.  She might still be scared, but is relatively calm, no muzzle required, and gets along with the other animals, even the resident cat.  It's like there is magic in the air! I could not recommend this veterinary practice more highly. And the prices are reasonable too. Read Less

I haven't been able to write a review until now. We actually found Dr. Palermo on YELP and after reading the reviews, we called her. We were desperate. New to the area, our 14 year old Bichon Frise, Wolfgang Amadeus, was dying...quickly. We were ill prepared and it was a holiday weekend. We carried our dying dog into her clinic, arriving before they were opened (and they let us in). She was kind, honest, caring, concerned...but most of all, knowledgable. She told us what we already knew, that he was dying, that he had cancer and that the kind thing to do was to let him go. My husband wanted to do everything to save him and I knew what Dr. Palermo knew, it was time. She promised my husband that she would do an autopsy so that he would know that we made the right decision. She called us promptly at the time she said she would call. She was right. He was riddled with cancer. She put him to sleep so kindly. She let us stay forever. I will never forget this stranger who helped us through one of the worst days ever.  Now we're taking our new puppy to her. She's just as good with babies. Thank you Dr. Palermo. Read Less

We were adopted by a kitten a few months ago and have been fortunate to get  the 1st round of vaccines and spaying from the free clinics at Pet's Lifleline...but then our kitty got sick. Thankfully, Pets Lifeline suggested Dr. Palermo. She was able to see my sick kitten right away, once I decided to bring her in. Dr. Palermo gave our kitty fluids and meds immediately. She examined her thoroughly and gave us advice, special food, and antibiotics. She even asked me to call her to let her know how our kitten is doing. AND her prices are super reasonable. My kitty could not be in better hands than these folks. Bethann gave our kitten hugs and kisses and made our her feel really safe. The assistants were very kind and knowledgeable as well.P.S. The office staff also gave me great advice, with no rush or annoyance, during  the 48 hours it took me to decide to bring her in; great people. Read Less

We discovered BethAnn Palermo a year and a half ago when our little girl poodle became very ill. Over the past 18+ months we have had many occasions to visit the Vet  with our pets and can honestly say that in all of my years as a pet guardian, Iwe have never been as please or as comfortable with a vet. Winston,  our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's chief complaints have been either ear infections, heart murmur,  dental implications or ongoing pain due to a congenital condition.  Dr. Palermo has been wonderful to him and her treatments have yielded positive results every time.  Furthermore,  Winston always looks forward to his appointments because Beth Ann and her staff provide such a caring and professional   environment.  She is truly a wonderful veterinarian  ! Wonderful Vet. WE had an amazing experience with Dr. Beth Ann Palermo she is kind, compassionate and gentle. Our dog Nico had been hit by a car and we had been to the ER in Rohnert Park the night before. The ER suggested very expensive surgery or leg amputation BEFORE taking x-rays. We took Nico home overnight and brought him to Beth Ann after a night full of whimpering and hardship. She examined him and x-rayed him and found no fractures. He has a very serious flesh wound that will take months to heal but he will be OK and likely will keep all his legs. Thank you to a wonderful, highly recommended vet! The update on our dog is that he is as nutty (high energy) as ever and is walking without a limp. He did have a cut ligament that was very serious but ultimately it healed on its own (he had a splinted soft cast for quite a while.) Read Less

Sonoma Valley Pet Clinic was the worst experience I have ever had in Sonoma or Glen Ellen with my beloved pets. The staff just ignored me for over 35 minutes with my beautiful sheltie by my side. I was so mortified by the lack of warmth and support for dog lovers I left without anybody acknowledgement me or my beautiful, warm, friendly pet. The staff just stared at me without saying hello, welcome me, anything would've been better than being absolutely ignored by doctor and staff.  You couldn't even use the excuse they were really busy! The good news was almost 40 minutes of being ignored I left my horrible experience behind me at Sonoma Valley Pet Clinic via I-Phone and doggie park I found Dr Rozner who was absolutely amazing. The staff was warm and engaging immediately when I walked into the clinic. They demonstrated to me how to clean ears, brush teeth, etc. I have lived in Sonoma Valley since 2002 and Dr. Howard Rosner (Sonoma Veterinary Clinic) and staffs are the types of people I am use to interacting with and they are the reason I love living in Sonoma Valley. The positive side of my really horrible experience at Sonoma Valley Pet Clinic is that there is an angel right around the corner waiting to provide love and support to you and your pet. That angel was Dr. Rosner and Staff.I actually don't send out many reviews and usually the reviews are based on a positive experience but since this experience was so horrible I felt compelled to communicate to others about how poorly I was treated at the Sonoma Valley Pet Clinic.
