I cannot say enough about how STELLAR the entire staff is! Amanda greeted us with warmth and compassion as we brought our 11 year old puppy in for surgery to remove a large fatty tumor. Amanda also took the extra time to keep us updated throughout his overnight say. The staff there loved our dog as if he was theirs! The Vet was outstanding and knowledgeable. Ok folks, here's how it rolls.Dr. Simpson and Elia are amazing. Very sharp and caring. Dr. Simpson has cared for dogs for us and my parents. He did a palette surgery on our pug and it made the biggest difference in his breathing. Dr. Simpson even took him home that night to care for him. Who else does that? No one.Going in, you have to know a couple of things. Prices are low. Really low. With that in mind, lower your expectations on a couple of issues. Parking does suck, 4 spots. Phones ring off of the hook and it takes a long time to get a call back, etc. Don't expect to speak to the main vets. They are busy working on animals all of the time. If they do call you (which happens occasionally, consider it a bonus).The building is old, funky and does smell of urine. Appointment times do run behind. All of that is frustrating, but if you can get past it, the care and expertise by Drs. Simpson and Elia are worth it.They could certainly use a building upgrade and some new furniture and some fabuloso.Anyway, I strongly recommend them, especially if you have a pug, boston, frenchy or bull dog. Dr. Simpson is the best veterinarian in San Diego! My boyfriend and I have a 10 month old American Bully and for months she was having intermittent diarrhea. We went to a different vet who ran a few tests and didn't really give us any answers. Then my boyfriend's coworker recommended Dr. Simpson since he specializes in bully breeds. Our first appointment with him was very thorough and he even looked at our pup's stool sample himself! He reported what he found right away and prescribed antibiotics. Rowie's stool improved. However, her diarrhea came back and we scheduled a follow up appointment with Dr. Simpson. He ultimately recommended that we probably needed to switch our dog's protein to fish instead of chicken. This could've been a frustrating experiment. However, it only took one try! She needed to be on salmon after all. We could've gone through crazy tests and spent more money with the other vet, but Dr. Simpson was truthful and gave us his honest opinion. We will continue to go to him for any concerns that we have with Rowie. He is a genuine doctor that takes great care of your pet! Read Less

The facility has a terrible smell, above and beyond what I've experienced at any other veterinary office. In addition I called the night before to schedule and urgent appointment for my dog. Repeatedly confirmed with the receptionist that the appointment would be for the next day. Always been an amazing vet, Dr. Simpson and Dr. Elia are fantastic. I've taken my bulldogs and previously cocker spaniels and they care for them like family. Folks this place is the absolute best and no place could even come close. Ive taken many many dogs there for years and the doctors and staff are superb and I mean they care about every animal and provide the very best of care. Ive had emergencies over the years at all hours of night and weekend and If Dr.Simpson or his staff is in town they will attend to your animal asap and if not will reccommend someone or see you asap if you can wait a few hours. I wasn't sure what to do when my vet recommended soft palette surgery for my French Bulldog Otis. After researching the benefits and the cost, I decided I needed a second opinion before putting him under the knife. I have a friend that recommended Dr. Simpson because of his special care with the bully breed.  My initial consultation was with another Vet Dr Judy and to my surprise he recommended Dr. Simpson.  He said... "Dr. Simpson is the best! He does this type of surgery often and is a great surgeon". I made an appointment immediately! Dr. Simpson loves his job and was very thorough during our consultation.  Which put me at ease.  I was confident after the consultation and happy with the estimate.  The staff was very friendly and attentive and most importantly Otis loved the Dr and everyone in the office.The surgery went great and he doesn't sound like a lil piggy anymore.  He can breath easier and I know we have an improved quality of life! I had been going to Dr, Simpson for year, over 15 years, the staff had always been so wonderful... Until today I went in to get some more prescription cat food. The red hair receptionist was so rude and nasty to me. I asked for he prescription cat food and she told me there was not any in stock and she did not know when it was coming in, and could not find out she was BUSY... that was after she told me to have a seat and wait my turn. Then stood at the counter and complained about another customer so everyone in the waiting room could hear hear. When I asked to leave a message for Dr. Simpson she raised her voice and said" Make sure you spell my name right."..... Dr. Simpson is very kind by he needs new front counter help.......!. Read Less

I took my little girl puppy to this clinic for the first time on 7/2/2013, because, due to a flea problem at my previous address, had bumps on her skin I couldn't get rid of, Dr Elliott was wonderful with her, addressed the problem and gave her an antibiotic shot. I'm happy to say that it's only been five days, (the shot lasts ten days I was told), and my "Little Bit's" bumps are gone and she's back to her "onry" little self! THANK YOU, DR.
