I wanted to give it a 5 star but....I can't. Some employees there deserve a 5 star of their own, but alas others make the whole experience less. I had boarded my dogs twice at this location b4 and found it necessary to board again a few yrs later. My German Shepherd isn't "friendly" but then again, she's not supposed to be. She's a guard dog. Now, here's the thing every single person that ever meets her has the 1st impression that she's aggressive. BUT, my dog has NVR bitten anyone in her life. Even when she's run away from home. She barks and snaps, but nvr actually bites. She's all talk lol
A professional would be able to get past this side, and showing fear as anyone who knows the basics should know just makes the dog more nervous around that person, hence the acting up. A dog can tell when someone doesn't want them there. So after going THREE times to get her evaluated because I KNEW they'd think she's "too aggressive", I got the ok. Day that I show up, they tell me that they can't take her and roll their eyes when I mentioned a woman that worked there said she'd be willing to go in on her day off and work for my dog. They finally took her in after an extra half hr of my time, delaying my trip. But I wanted to b sure my dog would be safe and the staff there.
When I returned, the person giving them back to me mentioned that my dogs were not good candidates for boarding because they wouldn't let him near thrm. He specifically said my male, Geman shepherd chow mix was the worst, and he's the dog NO one ever complains about so....really? I just don't think he's good with dogs. Being ok around friendly dogs doesn't make you good with animals, it means you get it easy and those dogs are just friendly. A real professional can deal with different dog temperaments and yes, I know safety can be an issue, but again, I know my dog and I know aggressive dogs, there's a difference between aggressive and nervous.
I've had a dog so friendly she let plp beat her, stab her and throw things at her without complaint. I don't WANT a passive dog. I want one that can protect herself and me. So no, I won't be making her a lap, dog. But yes, i will work on her socialization with a few trusted plp.
So thanks for the 1st two tries and special thank u to Cathy and another young lady that works there for being SO good with my pups. But I won't be taking her back again so she can stay locked up because plp r scared of her. I will hire a boarder and get her used to said person as someone suggested.
Again tho, some of their employees are GREAT and wish I could hire them on their own π, hence the 3 star instead of 1 π, thank you ladies. I've attached the photos Cathy took. Read Less
