I'm upset because I had to convince my boyfriend to bring them here because of these amazing reviews and amazing recommendations. I just wish it lived up to the hype. The staff was ok. The lady that checked in the cats was super friendly, and the lady that helped us with aftercare was nice and reassured my stress for my cats which is why this is not a 1 or 2 star review. BUT, of course, there's more. We drop off the cats and the lady takes them in, we're fine. I have to pick up then next day which I like and don't mind because taking your drugged up cat home is stressful. They said they'll call me to reassure the spay was good. Didn't get a Call, I had to call to ask. Which was annoying but whatever, I look past that. Then it's time for pickup. I'm going home and there is this awful smell. They just tell me the area cannot get wet at all. I go home and there is piss AND poop in the cage. If I didn't put a little cat bed in her cage, her fresh new stiches would be soaked in piss. What she was sitting on was her own poop. I understand that they kept them overnight, but what was the point of you're just going to keep them in the cage all night and not even check up on them. It may not seem like a big deal for people, but these are my kids and probably the only kids I'll be able to have. At least care for them like you would your own pet. I should if stayed with my old vet. Walker was cheaper, but I should of paid more for the better welfare of my babies. Read Less

Caring, compassionate, not GREEDY and CARE about animals FIRST. Had to leave previous vet because animals stopped coming first. Vets in Stockton need to take heed that animals have owners but DON'T take advantage of them with their pets. Volume, NOT GREED, makes you money. We're NOT dollar signs. Read Less

Dr. Boden is a wonderful vet. He takes the time to discuss your concerns and is very caring. I have taken my 3 dogs to him for a little more than a year and they are not at all anxious about going to see him. I just had one of them groomed by the the groomer there and I was very happy with the service. I would recommend this business to any pet owners. Read Less

Yesterday was my first visit. I was going to try Sierra and they were full so they recommended Walker. I thought that was a good sign that they referred me to someone they  trusted. (I should note that I  don't have a regular vet so anywhere I went was going to be new to us.) My cat had been acting very odd and meowing for a week - I am exhausted from lack of sleep. Plus, I was stressed about trying to get her in her carrier, the ride, etc. She is an older cat. She was pretty calm in there, and the staff was really nice, pleasant, down to earth. The doctor was calm and gentle with the cat and the visit went off without a hitch. Also, I was so worried about the cost, and I didn't think it was bad. $100 for new patient visit, cortisone shot, and flea treatment. The next office visit will be cheaper (I think they said $41). My cat did really well and I think a large part of it was that the vet was so calm. I have had some doozies in the past that were aggressive with pets. This doc gave recommendations and zero pressure and if this treatment doesn't help, he gave me some ideas about what we might be looking at in the future, both price wise and treatment. When you call for a grooming appointment you get one of several people. These people do not converse with the others. When you take your pet in for the grooming appointment,  they tell you that there is no record of the appointment and decide which animal they will accept from all the ones who showed up. Read Less

I love the vet (5 stars) but I'm not happy with the office staff (1 star). I took my cat in and was told it would be $182 this morning. When I picked her up the new total was $353. The clerk said she "made a mistake". It's difficult when budgets are tight and your bill is $150 more than you thought it would be. Not cool. Read Less

Went here for the first time on a Saturday morning. Glad we went right when it opened because it was getting very busy when we left! It's a walk-in clinic, so you don't make appointments, which I was a little hesitant about at first but my good friend and her family highly recommended it.After filling out the paperwork and waiting for about 15-20 minutes (again, walk-in clinic so expect to wait) we were taken to a room. The vet assistants were very nice. Gizmo's vet was Dr. Boden; he was very thorough, gentle and kind with her which I couldn't appreciate more. The best part was how he explained what was going on with Gizzy's leg in terms that we could understand - asking what we did for a living and then relating it back to an athlete injury which made it easy for me follow along and truly understand what was wrong with her leg. Overall, it reminded me of the vet clinic I took my animals too back home (I'm not originally from Stockton) and I feel totally comfortable taking Gizmo there for future check ups. Okay this review is for Walker Veterinary, NOT American Veterinary Hospital. I made a mistake by posting this on American's Yelp instead. Boarded our two dogs here back in June 2014 for five days. The staff were friendly and the place is fairly clean. The only issue was when we got our dogs back, they were so dirty and smelled like pee. My little one who has white fur was covered in dried pee streaks. How long was that on him? I understand they were inside a kennel but at least a short bath would have been nice. Did the handlers not notice? I have taken my dogs to other local kennels and we never got them back looking and smelling like that. I tried this place because it received good reviews. If I could give NO stars I would!, I took in my bull terrier mix after he started hacking up a white foam and dry coughing. Vet did not even physical touch my dog and just gave him amoxicillin 500mg and a stomach relaxer. ($120) And said to not give him food for 3days.A week goes by and my dog just keeps getting worse and worse, starting to not drink water! I take him back and while waiting ever single animal that passed through that place was prescribed amoxicillin. Finally seen again and vet pretty much has NO clue what's wrong with my dog and takes him back for X-rays. I can hear my dog yelling and crying in the back, they then bring him back and state they also took blood work, and also another prescription of amoxicillin ($469)! later for the second visit and they still do not know what could be wrong with my pup! X-rays show nothing? and his blood work is fine? My Dog is still sick and we will be going to a different vet! nearly $600!!! for them to tell me nothing! Read Less

I have found the staff to be inattentive and unprofessional in the manner in which they conduct themselves in front of waiting patients. Dr. Boden (there is no longer a Dr. Walker) appears competent at first though I have strong reservations concerning his ability to be honest with his patients. This is not to accuse him of being a liar but speaks rather to his ability to give a completely honest appraisal of your pet's condition and treatment options. My impression is that they are more driven by money than by providing quality veterinary services. Since switching to Pacific Veterinary Hospital in Stockton I now know what a truly caring and competent veterinary practice looks like. The comparison of the two is striking; like night and day. Dr. Boden and staff are great! We have been taking our GSD there since 2008. I truly feel that they really care for Jasmine and they never rush you in and out. Dr. Boden takes his time and thoroughly checks her each time I bring her in and she stays pretty calm when around him. The BEST! Wish I would have found them sooner! You know how on "Cheer's", everybody knows your name? Well, Walker Vet is even better. Not only are they super nice but each time I go in with my dog Pumpkin Little, Dr. Boden takes plenty of time to examine Pumpkin and discuss all of his options. And not only do we discuss options, he explains things in a way that I can understand and I can make an informed decision. The cost is great too! I swear, for years and years I would do everything possible to avoid the vet because every time I go for simple things like shots, I would walk out paying a $200-$400 bill. Not here! Found a 6-month old Austrailian Sheepdog that had been hit by a car. Had a broken jay and could not move. Took it in back of car to this vet and he asked who was going to be financially responsible. We asked how much and if he could just give this poor animal some medical attention. The "vet" told us to take the dog back where we found it, drop it off in the street, and call animal control to come pick up the body." We were shocked. Took the poor animal to another local vet and paid out the cash to get this poor animal some help. I wouldn't pay this animal Boden Richard to pick out the kitty litter box much less treat any of my animals.Think twice before you pick a vet that could care less about the suffering of animals over him getting paid first.
