This is going to be a long review. But if you're short on time and just want the gist, here's the short version: Do not take your animal to Dr. Schwartz. You will overpay and your animal will receive subpar care and possibly an inaccurate diagnosis. In addition to that, the way Dr. Schwartz speaks to owners is jaw dropping. He is condescending, rude, and unsympathetic. To back up these claims, here is a detailed account of some of my experiences with Dr. Schwartz: 1) I took my own dog to Dr. Schwartz from 2006-2009. He was my dog's first vet from 10 weeks - 2 years. I saved ALL of the medical records. After moving away for a short period and having my dog's new vet (and veterinary school professor) review the old records, the new vet was very concerned at what he called "over vaccinating". He pointed out each shot my dog received and didn't need AND explained why he didn't need them. There were hundreds of dollars of shots that were never needed. So know that if you take your dog to Dr. Schwartz - you are likely spending hundreds of dollars that you don't need to. Also, you will be billed separately for office visit (~$50) and then for blood pressure (~$100). The basic cost is SUPPOSED to be taking the vitals. So just by walking into the office, Dr. Schwartz feels that is worth $50 of your hard earned money. 2) My best friend took her dog, Charlie, to Dr. Schwartz from 2010 - 2012. Due to some pre-existing health issues, Charlie had to be put down at a fairly young age. When he was put down, he convulsed. It was not peaceful, it was not painless. Growing up with several dogs in my lifetime, I have seen my fair share of animals put down. None of them ever convulsed when being put down. It's as though Dr. Schwartz left out the sedation (despite billing $400 for it). So know that in your dogs final moments - it's possible that in Dr. Schwartz's care - it will not be a peaceful one. 3). Fast forward to 2017, my friend took her two 12-year-old Pitt/ Boxer mixes to Dr. Schwartz. One (Mama) was peeing blood and the other (Bobs) went blind OVER NIGHT. Dr. Schwartz's action to the dog who went blind over night? Take an Xray of his head . . . and his hips (keep in mind, each Xray scan has a separate cost). She didn't come for an issue with his hips!!! He also said there were no tumors he could see (a vet at an emergency center looked at the same Xray a week later and said "What?!?! there are TONS of tumors here"). My friend's dogs were in such bad shape she asked if they should start discussions on putting them down. Dr. Schwartz yelled at her and said he wouldn't put a dog down to make her life "more convenient". SERIOUSLY!?!?!? Who says that?!?!? So disrespectful, insulting and - on top of everything else - 100% incorrect. The story ends with Bobs seizing and Bobs and Mama ended up in an emergency clinic a week after seeing Dr. Schwartz. The ER vet said the most humane course of action was to put them down (no convulsions and it was quite peaceful). Dr. Schwartz wants to keep animals alive so he can squeeze as much money out of people as possible. He is a horrible vet and a horrible human being. If you care about your animal in the slightest - do NOT take your pet here. (If you would care to know where I personally entrust my dog's health - see my review of Village Vet. Night and day difference between this office and Boulevard Pet Clinic)And to the people who gave Dr. Schwartz 4+ stars - - - take your animal to another vet then see how you feel. You have no idea of the level of care your animal COULD be receiving. Read Less
