Following an extensive investigation, the California Veterinary Board issued Citation #2658-C against Dr. Clyde Pitts, Owner of Studio City Animal Hospital. Dr. Pitts was cited and fined based on findings of 4 counts of Negligence and 8 Violations of Record Keeping, which, according to CA Title 16, Section 2043, "involve a person, who, while engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine has caused death or serious harm to an animal patient." I believe these findings are serious and disturbing, and call into question Dr. Pitts' competency, professionalism, and ability to continue running a Veterinary practice.
I believe it is important that consumers be made aware of the risks involved should they take their pet to this Hospital for care. My case was so severely mishandled that it resulted in the death of my beloved cat. My beautiful cat's cancer was undiagnosed (Pitts said her X-ray showed she was "eating cat litter"). The last week of her life, Pitts gave her Convenia, which is ONLY to be used for skin problems, and ultimately caused her death. To make matters worse, Dr. Pitts will not acknowledge any wrongdoing, based upon his refusal to respond to the Veterinary Board's request of him to address their findings (see attached).
It is incumbent upon a business to which consumers entrust their pets for medical care to provide the highest level of professionalism and competency. My case is definitive proof that these standards were seriously not in keeping with the guidelines set forth by the State.
For the sake of your beloved pets, I urge you not to take them to a hospital that should be shut down (check Yelp's "not commended" reviews for more horror stories). Read Less
