I tried a couple different vets before coming here. I always had the same experience: front office staff are nicer to me and my dog than the vet and the vet always seems tired and trying to get the exam over with as quickly as possible. This clinic feels so much more friendly and comfortable (for me at least -- my dog is forever scarred by past vets). I love that I see the same vet each time (who is super warm and careful with my dog) and that I'm told, step by step, what is happening or what should be done and why. I'm never pressured to make decisions but am given facts and helpful advice, and the vet is always upfront with costs when I ask. Read Less

Shout out to Dr. Borhan to be the best vet ever, my senior dog was having a problem I took her to different vets, they charged me an arm and a leg on different tests, and still couldn't find out about her problem, but Dr borhan by just looking at it found out what is going on and treated her . I booked in here for my dog's neutering on a friend's recommendation. I am so, so pleased I did! From the moment I walked in I felt like my pupper was in safe hands- from the friendly and knowledgeable receptionist to the vet nurse's and, obviously, the vet. He took the time to examine my baby and make sure he was all okay before taking him in and even took the time to come out from the back when it was time to pick him up to compliment me on how well behaved and friendly he was to everyone.I received follow up calls and extensive aftercare instructions making sure my pup would be well and stay well. This is the first veterinarian that really truly cares about animals. maybe you were too quick to judge him if you thought otherwise. take into consideration, my first personal experience Just another nightmare so I thought... from my past Vets., just a check up to an injury. Which followed by an prescription of an antibiotic and with a owner requested follow up( My cats side effects ) he saw me the same day ; addressed my concerns ; no charge ... all was well and working --- the antibiotic ( ps normal side effects , but horrible to watch your pet go through but necessary because the other choice without antibiotics is far worse ) (me trying to play veterinarian yet again , as I if I was the one with over 35 years experience who worked 6 days a week with affordable rates , making it about the animal and not the $$$ signs. and deserved things goes to those who wait. Look no further, don't be too quick to judge because his records, his vested time his his knowledge is far greater than what we know , about what we think we know, about our pets and their well being. Yes yes I would say question every Vet , when you're dealing with just any Vet you end up spending lots of money every visit and every visit feels more and more like a time share sales pitch . more than likely he/she is just fresh out of school and Hashigh loans to payoff. Consider this they don't have 1/2 the experience.( .... don't be quick to judge as in my eyes it be a great loss to not see what I saw the very first day. he knows what he is doing. he orders tests as needed. nothing unnecessary. not at the owners expense ; not at the pets expense. how many Vets really care in the city of Los Angeles California. 1 that I know of. I have searched for 8 years to find a vet I wasn't afraid of and has yet to be wrong with my five cats. Thank you.. ps look at his schedule he loves what he does and cares. could you ask for more, oh yes he has 35 years experience... which is hands on.... so good luck with your search. thank God my anxieties are over. Exhausting to had searched for so long. disappointed constantly with the outcome of my visits. no more need, I worry .. I trust this guy. Friendly staff always a relief. I never regret bringing my cats in and I would wait 100 hours before I get mad that his other appt ran into mine. As in how many vets do take the time regardless, if there's someone else Scheduled.. if you're waiting just know you be lucky to have anybody treat you with the same respect and your pet .. As if my check up is more important than the owner in the other waiting room and their pet. The dr I could hear take his time answer all questions in the room even though the assistant could handle it, even though a new patient was eagerly waiting. The pet the owner....weren't as lucky to be in for a check up but something a little more time sensitive matter ... the vet wasn't rushing and to be honest I was impressed .. who does that for animal? Who and why? Because he loves his work... that's what u will get from this office. No bull... just respect .. care .. makes me happy how lucky I am to find this shadow hills pet clinic !!! Read Less

It's hard to tell if he is a good vet or not.  I have expressed to the secretar on more than one occasion that I feel they are making appointments too close to one another and the result is feeling rushed and not getting our needs met but nothing has changed.  When I bring in multiple pets, I make it a point to ask if there will be enough time, they say yes but I feel like I can only address one issue per appointment if I don't want to feel rushed.   The problem is that's not practical with my busy schedule.For example:I had to come back two times for my cat's teeth because after taking care of all his other issues, he forgot to give him antibiotics for his teeth.  I had to take time off on another day and go back but again, this time after taking care of my other cat's needs, he forgot!  After forgetting twice, I decided to take my cat elsewhere.  The reason I forgot as well is because while the appointment starts off slow, the end is always rushed and in that process of feeling rushed to leave, I also forgot.  I should have written everything down on a list.Another time I brought my cat in for nail clipping ONLY on the two thumbs that were ingrown because I was not able to get it.  I explicitly explained this and after the staff member took him back, I could hear him crying and her struggling but when she brought him back,  it never dawned on me to check.  I went home only to see that she had not clipped the two thumbs I brought him in for!  I suspect, she struggled and gave up but didn't have the courtesy of telling me.  I'm writing this because of the way Dr. Mohan handled the situation.  When I took him back (yet again taking time off from work) instead of apologizing, he told me it happens sometimes that they'll miss a nail if the cat has long hair.  My cat has short black hair.  Another time, my Mom's dog had to have five stitches.  When it was time to remove them, she went home to discover he had only removed four out of five.  She also was inconvenienced and had to take time off again to have the fifth stitch removed.Another time, I had made an appointment for my new dog only to get there and find out there was a substitute there.  I told the staff member that I should have been told ahead of time that I won't be seeing Dr. Mohan. All in all, a little more humility and a little more time is needed with pets with multiple issues or multiple pets in one appointment. Read Less

After going to an outrageously expensive vet for a year, I was on the hunt for another, and my dog's day care uses this vet so gave me the recommend. This vet rules. I got an appointment the day I called, but had to wait about 15min past my appointment time - that was the worst of my whole experience. Dr. Mohan was very nice. He and his assistant handled my dog very well and very gently. My dog isn't aggressive but she's got attitude with strangers trying to pick her up so it's important for a vet to have a strong calm hand with her. We were just there for vaccinations, so it was a quick visit and the whole thing was only $80! Office visit $40 + vaccinations. EXCELLENT care at an excellent price!!Read Less

What can I say, I just love this place. I have 2 cats and a dog and they all come here. Dr. Mohan is so nice and attentive, I never feel like my appointment was half assed.  I live in Toluca Lake and have brought them to these fancy ass doctors around here but they feel so much like a factory setting that I couldn't get the attention I wanted for my babies. S.H. Pet clinic is so affordable you almost wonder how these other places get away with charging ridiculous prices for something as simple as a check up. Dr Mohan is such a wonderful, caring doctor. He has helped me take care of my elderly Chesapeake Bay Retriever right up until the end of his remarkable 16 years and when it was time for him to go the doctor was very compassionate. My other dog is VERY nervous in vet's offices but she is so much more at ease with him than she has been at any of our past vets. Can't recommend him enough. They saved my boi Duke's life after he was stung by a bee. We discovered that day, Duke is allergic to bee's. Extremely. So as my dog was struggling to breathe and as my panic level was peaking we arrived at Shadow Hills. I exit my vehicle, driven by my wife, and grab my now sharpei looking boxer and burst through the front door and as a lobby full of eyes looks up, I yell..."Someone, save my dog". Before I can even take a breath, doctor Mohan tells me to take him into the examination room. After a few moments my wife and doctor Mohan enter where he immediately administers cortisone, via an injection...Duke still getting more inflated, beginning to have trouble breathing...I am then instructed to follow a very calm vet tech (I, on the other hand, flipping out) to the back, where he instructs us to bathe Dukes with some type anti allergy shampoo...as we struggle through giving my boi a bath, the vet tech is telling us to relax, that he will be okay...after a rinse we are led to a large kennel, Duke seems stable, but the reaction to the bee sting venom becomes worse and now he begins to heave and he begins throwing up foam. My wife exits the kennel and a minute later, returns with doctor Mohan and I am instructed to take him to a exam room with another doctor and tech already waiting. At this point as I am holding onto my boi for dear life I am asked politely to please have a seat in the waiting room. I ask him to please save my dogs life, and he assures me he will. At this point my wife and I exit the office and find a bench, sit and light cigarettes, holding each other and trying to breath. My wife gets up, but I cannot move. I sit there while she goes in ..the minutes seem endless, 10 feel like one million and then finally I see the blinds in the waiting room move, my wife knocks on the glass and gives me a thumbs up...my heart nearly drops out of my chess and I inhale deep ...we wait another 30 minutes or so and then the exam room door cracks, and out comes my Duke, wagging his little stump of a tail and directly in tow, both doctors and techs, I kneel down and am linked to death, then I get up and give both doctors a hug....so.....simply put...doctor Mohan is a genius, his staff, genius...shadows hills vet is the reason my boxer, my best friend, is still with me today. We were referred here by our dog's daycare (Bow Wow Bungalow, also amazing) and we could not be happier. Dr. Mohan is absolutely wonderful with our pets, and even worked us in a same day emergency appointment when our dog managed to get into a bag of chocolate chips while we were out. We've since recommended him to friends of ours, and when they mentioned we had referred them he remembered us and asked after our dog even though we hadn't been in in months! A big plus for me is when I come here I never feel like I'm being pressured into things I don't need. I've had bad experiences at several other vets when I felt condescended to by doctors or had my commitment to my pets' care questioned if I even so much as asked about cost or whether there were other treatment options available. I have never felt that here. Dr is very straightforward and upfront. They are also very affordable. I came in for an exam and three separate prescriptions and walked out paying less than I'd been charged other places just for a routine checkup and vaccines. Medical care for your pets is going to cost money, it's just unavoidable, but I have never felt overcharged here the way I have at other practices.I've seen some negative comments on the reception. I've never personally experienced this, but even if I had I'll take a mediocre reception experience any day if it comes with a great vet. Read Less

Took my pet here, and they were very sweet and caring, but unfortunately were not able to do the necessary surgery on my dog because they do not specialized in that type of emergency procedure. This is only and only for the lovely receptionist who's name I didn't even get because our encounter lasted exactly 60 seconds or less. Not only was she completely rude to me but humiliated me in front of what I think was the Veterinarian  and other pet owners. The reason i came in today was for my Black Lab who suffered an eye poke this morning on our hike. I noticed his eye swelled up and decided to take him to the vet once i got back home from class. I looked up the closest Clinic and Shadow Hills it was. My brother called the clinic before i brought my dog in to get info on the check up. A simple eye exam was going to cost me $40. (Not bad) and so there I was. She did mention to him the clinic closed at 6, my brother called at 5 . As i made my way into the clinic (5:26 pm) she gave me a blank stare. Standing there for a few seconds trying to make sense of the small clinic she rolled to the side of the counter on her rolling chair to tell me "What do you need?" Well off the bat I felt the love.  Standing there I simply said I'm here because I just called. She looked at me with a very annoyed look on her face and said "You're going to have to take him somewhere else! yeah, the emergency room or somewhere else" I said um oh, ok? what time do you guys open? She said "9 am, yeah somewhere else." I said ok thank you and walked out. Now I understand it's almost closing time and she may have had a very long and tiring day but thats no excuse to treat someone like that. A simple  oh I'm sorry but we are closing in a few, or how about letting my brother know over the phone to come back in the morning would have been fine. It's a shame i have to give this place 1 star but in all honesty i'd give them 0 just from that short experience. I'm sure the Dr.'s are nice but I won't be back in the morning or ever. Read Less

I will never go to another veterinarian in California. I have cats and Dr. Mohan is deeply intuitive about them. He is sensitive to the needs of both cats and dogs. He is 100% focused on the animals. He is able to intuit conditions that subsequent testing confirms. If the news is bad, he and his staff are extremely compassionate. Everything is done with dignity and sensitivity. Read Less

Phenomenal attention to detail, empathy and experience. He successfully diagnosed a problem another vet had mis-diagnosed multiple times within minutes.Our dog was struggling for days until our Dr solved the issue. My regular vet is closed on Saturdays so I needed to search for a place that was open so I could take my pug in.  She had a cough that wouldn't let up after two days and needed relief.  I made an appt. Friday evening to come in the next morning. When we arrived the waiting room was filled with 5 other dogs and their owners.  The doctor was running about 20 minutes behind, but I explained to the receptionist that I was a bit in a hurry (had to attend a wedding a little later in the afternoon and my appt. was at 10:15 am).  She got us in there after only a 5 minute wait.  It probably helped that my Coco was a little vocal with some of the other dogs.  Dr. Mohan took a look at her and found that she had a lot of phlegm, a slight temperature and her throat was sore.  He said it could be a number of things that caused it so he treated her for kennel cough.  Total cost was $146; total time in and out was 45 minutes.      No reflection on this place at all, but wanted to share my total experience.  There was a woman there with her dogs who was sitting near us in the waiting room.  When my dog (a pug) barked at her dog (a doberman) she got up and walked across the room. I ignored it but the woman thought it was necessary to say very loudly so everyone in the waiting room could hear "Nothing personal... I just don't want my dog to view that display of behavior."  What a snooty woman.  Her dogs are likely her ONLY friends.  And apparently my Coco is a bad influence.  Haha, my dog is awesome! The 30 min drive is very worth it. Dr. Mohan is so great. He really makes you and your pet feel comfortable at his clinic. My puppy fractured her leg and needed surgery. I found Shadow Hills Clinic and I am so glad I did! Dr. Mohan went over the procedures step by step with me and made me feel comfortable admitting my pet here. All questions were answered and he shared his knowledge regarding my pet's condition so well and clear. I saved over $2,000 coming here. Hospitals near central LA will overcharge you and won't be as genuine as this guy right here! He truly cares for your pet. You could really feel is positive flow of energy when talking to this man. Here at public storage the staff Are really friendly and easy to talk to especially Maria she a funny and great gal. =] I know I can trust this location because one time I forgot to lock my storage. And they called me right away to notify me that it was open and to come to see if it was broken into but turns out I just. Happen to leave it open since I was in a hurry . He has also helped to see me through the difficult times of saying goodbye to my beloved pets throughout the years.
