We've been clients of Pet's Friend since 1998, and they've taken wonderful care of now 3 cats for us, including end-of-life care for 2. This place offered me excellent customer service and helped me return a dog to it's owners and make friends at the same time! They have a chip scanner, and were referred to me by The Pet Hotel (The one right on Wolfe and Central) after I brought in my neighbors Shin Tzu Cavalier 🐕 who was walking around the neighborhood. Luckily he had a chip, and they were able to put me in touch with the owner within 15 min. Also, the lady at the front gave me a leash to keep him on while I waited for them to get in contact. Soon after moving to California, my little poodle found himself in a bit of trouble with a major cut on his foot. He required emergency surgery to stitch it all back together. The vets a Pet's Friend Animal Clinic were wonderful and amazing through the entire situation. They gave him such love and attention when we came into the clinic and were great helping to meet his pain needs. I stopped in one morning to pick up some medication and talked with Dr. Miller. I told her he wasn't feeling very good and she immediately cleared her schedule and had me bring him in. She did a full examination, ran tests, and prescribed medications to get him up and running. He's been feeling great. I am so thankful for the care provided by the vets here (we've seen all of them and they are all great). The staff is great and it's obvious everyone there loves animals! I've been taking our dogs there for years and trust our "furry kids" are always in great hands, no matter the reason for our visit! They'll even help long distance, something I experienced first hand when my boy was accidentally injured when he was with me visiting family who isn't used to watching out for a dog to not trip over. I took pictures, emailed to PF and followed guidance offered by the Dr that was a...vailable, then scheduled a follow-up with our usual Dr when we got back home. I was so grateful to have such caring Vets to not only suggest proper care, but calm me - the worried "mom" - down along the way! :) I was referred to this clinic by a great specialist/surgeon (at what was the VMA/VSA hospital) where I was sent to with an older dog I had previously when cancer was suspected. I kept the referral handy (since I wasn't thrilled with other Vets I'd been to) so when I got our rescue after losing my old girl, I took him to Pet's Friend, loved it there and two dogs later we're still there! Besides being a great place in general, hey offer specials for Adopted Rescues and Senior dogs (10+ I think), which is a nice extra benefit! A couple years ago, I unfortunately had to put my beloved 16 year old cat to sleep. I walked in, and was immediately sent to a private room, and was taken care of. The doctor was so kind, and let me have all the time that I needed with her after she was gone. At the end, I didn't have to sign any forms, or pay a fee, what was important to them was for me to go home and grieve. A couple days later, I received a card with my cats paw print and hand written notes of the doctors and nurses that work there. Fast forward to 2017, I take my 7 year old cat, who is very shy and is not a fan of new people, in to get a check up. He was hiding under the chair, and instead of picking him up and putting him on the table, she sat down next to him, and did the examination on the floor. She made sure he was comfortable and eventually had him purring. As one of those "crazy cat lady" who fusses over the well being of my animals, I never worry that he won't be comfortable. This was a great experience for my 11 and a half year old calico Pixie she had very stressful bad experience while i was in hospital last year and she was boarded at my previous vet office which i never had any problem with before boarding her at the last vet now she requires a lot of calm soothing talk and they wrapped her in a towel held onto her very gently took theyre time to do the exam and she was so much more calm and less terrified i was truly impressed by the care she received so much that i also voted for them and they won best vet silicon valley this past year and i hear other years previous as well thank you Pets Friend the name says it all Read Less

We've adopted two kittens from the Humane Society over the past year, and have been taking our new family members to Pet's Friend for their routine (and non-routine) care.  So far, we've been very pleased with their service.  The staff is friendly and welcoming, and very accommodating of our needs.  They have been willing to squeeze us in for quick visits as we deal with the issues that arise with rescue kittens.  The clinic is clean, and the cost of treatment and medications seem reasonable.  Highly recommended. My cat had issues with her eyes and we've brought her for a check in about 8 months ago. The vet who saw us said that it potentially was serious and recommended us to see an eye doctor. She had cancer and we had to put her down. The vet from Pet's Friend didn't even care to call back and check in on what the condition was (given that we've been with her for a while before) and I keep receiving reminders for my kitty's vaccinations etc., this is absolutely irresponsible and rude. I understand this is just their work, but to me this shows lack of care for the pet or the owner. Also, when I originally specifically asked about cancer (my Internet research showed that it was a possibility), she said it was highly unlikely. Not going back. Read Less

This morning made the hard decision to have my "sisters' 18 year old kitty, Baby put to sleep. I will tell you why I decided. Even though Baby was mostly comfortable as she retreated to the backyard, putting her face into whatever corner. she was very weak in her limbs, slipping, esp she jumped off the bed, and once landed very badly. And she could no longer poop and she was in pain when she tried. So it was not the pain of death per se, but the high chance of painful injury on top of this. I searched for possible nearby vets and liked that the vets here were all women...and great reviews. I called at 7:30 and made appt for 11:30... and got cost. estimateabout !$150 for Euthanasia and cremation combined, about what I was give for the shelter services. I was treated with much compassion the moment I arrived, escorted into a private room instantly....and the aide started taking vitals like temp and weight...filling out forms. Why she doing that? It is not like this kitty is coming back for another appt. I met with the vet and told her the cat's history and why I decided to bring her in...though she would probably die on her own within hours anyway. I did not want her to have accident or end her final hours in pooptrauma... and painful yowling. I decided not to be with Baby during the shots, sure Baby would not be traumatized .. However went to pay the bill and it was over $200. .. what happened to the $150 I was quoted! The fee was for the health exam. I asked for the cat to not be cremated then... They adjusted the bill and I paid it...and but the aide came out then and said they would handle the cremation gratis...so they get five stars instead of three. Two years ago we got a wild hair and decided to adopt a former stray, FIV+, middle aged kitty from the humane society. (It was love at first sight.)Given her rough history and FIV status, not to mention the 3 months she spent in the shelter before she summoned us to come rescue her, we wanted to get her checked out to make sure she was okay. Naturally, we took to Yelp and Pet's Friend stood out right away. The initial call was easy, the staff was helpful and warm, and scheduling was a breeze.  At her initial exam, the vet reported a clean bill of health (other than the FIV, which we already knew about) and gave us a whole lot of education since this is a first cat for our little family. We got our girl on a better diet, and started her on flea/heartworm preventative too. [The cost of the meds is the same as online, and the exam fee is in the 60ish dollar range. So, super reasonable.] About 6 months later, she was acting a little sick and Pet's Friend got her in right away. (No emergency fee, just the regular exam fee + treatment.) She spent the day getting poked, prodded and evaluated, but she made a full recovery within a few days as predicted by the vet. This was a year and a half ago, but I bring it up for two reasons. One, emotionally, it was devastating to me that Courtney was ill. However, the vet and receptionist called me any time labs came back or updates were available on her condition. I did not go more than 2 hours without hearing from them at any point, and when I called to ask questions they were extremely patient with me even though I must have been totally annoying. Two, financially, you never know what you're getting into when your pet needs veterinary attention. But, despite putting an "authorized up to" amount on Courtney's forms, we were contacted with options, pricing and alternatives each time a test or treatment needed to be done. They had a piece of paper giving them permission to do whatever they wanted up to a dollar amount, but still kept us in the loop fully and out the door only ended up charging us about half of what we were willing to pay without further consideration. Wow. Thanks to the FIV, our girl has bad teeth. I brush them, but that only goes so far. So she needs cleaning every year or two, and blood work to accompany it. The prices charged by Pet's Friend are comparable to other vets in the area (oh yeah, I called around) and they keep us in the loop every step of the way while our girl is under / in procedure and then in recovery. We just took her in for her annual check up and she is still doing well and feeling good. She had a different vet for this appointment than the one I've met before, but like everyone at PF she was kind and warm to Courtney, and really took her time to do a thorough exam and listen to my concerns. Once again, delighted with this place. If you want a vet that is kind, compassionate, knowledgable and wont break the bank, look no further. We have a handful of vets much closer to us since we moved, but we are happy to drive a little bit to get our little princess to where we know she will have the best care. Thank you Pet's Friend! Love the doctors and vet techs here- caring and very thorough and we can usually get in for nail trims in a day or two. Not giving 5 stars because we often find we're prescribed ointments/medicines that he ends up not needing. Maybe he's a quick healer and we're just too anxious to get him checked out when he is under the weather but it does add up $$$ and we always have extra pills or creams laying around that are never needed. Brought my 10 week old puppy after having a horrible experience with another veterinarian who gave us a bleak outlook on the health of our new dog.  Dr. Miller spent over an hour with us, not knowing about my prior experience, doing a thourough check-up and giving the puppy a clean bill of health.  After I told her about the prior experience she explained how the Dr had failed to do a proper exam.  Dr. Miller and her staff were amazing and very helpful.  We will only go back here from now! We've taken our puppy (now 1 year-old dog) here multiple times over the past year for booster shots and random ailments (acid reflux and itchy paws). Chewie loves this place and wags his little tail at all the staff and his veterinarian, Dr. Moore.The staff we've interacted with are all wonderfully sweet and knowledgable. They give great advice on all things pet related from flea medications to potential dog sitters. Dr. Moore takes her time to explain everything and always leaves time for general questions. I took my dog which was just adopted from Humane Society to Pet's Friend Animal Clinic, and I had a very good time, so did my dog, Ripley. He had a skin condition, an allergic reaction and Dr.Allison Moore was so thorough and very nice in explaining everything to me and Ripley. She even gave me a free first trial of Nexgard for fleas and ticks, and also recommended many health plans for my pup. It was a pleasant experience. The facility was very clean, staffs are super nice. I could see that they are taking good care of every patients. On Dec. 26th Our cat Calli that is 16 years old and we are having some problems with her. They have put in in to give her air and taking X-ray.Found that she had lung cancer and was nothing they could do. with everything we had done for her this was one thing we could not do anything for her .We had to say good buy to our family member and that had been a joy to the both of us.At 10:42 AM December 26, 2016 Calli made her last breath of life in my hands.The Doctor and staff were so helpful and understanding of our loss.We should be getting Calli's ashes and a paw print soon. I moved to California in January and checked Yelp to find a new vet for my Yorkie. Pet's Friend came highly reviewed on Yelp so I rang and made an appointment and I'm so glad I did. Everyone at Pet's Friend are kind, helpful and polite. I can't sing their praises high enough. Dr. Koski is my dogs vet and she is amazing. She is so patient with my dog as he is very skittish. After trying different vets in the area, I would say this vet is the worst experience I have had as a new dog owner. Shopping for a good vet is like trying to find an honest dentist. Lesson learned. 1 star- facilities clean1 star- mostly friendlyYou can come here if you want to be RIPPed off. This is the most outrageous and overpriced clinic for spays at $800, I might as well spay two dogs. A lot of things that are optional, they consider it required within their estimate. I mean this location is convenient to where I live, but I'm not going to pay double for the sake of convenience. Their regular vet fee is $66, which isn't that bad, but still the highest in this area that I've come across. The vet was just okay in calming my puppy down. Lastly, they made me get an EKG for my puppy and didn't even follow up with feedback from the cardiologist. They followed up to schedule an ultra sound...seems really extreme and after getting more opinions from other vets, My breeder also says her adult dogs have no history of heart disease. I have come to the conclusion that this vet jumps the gun and doesn't practice low stress handling. Come here if you want to feel gauged and robbed. While driving across the US to relocate to the area, my beloved rescue dog became listless.  By Nevada, he developed a large lump behind his ear and his ear flap was extremely swollen.  I called Pet's Friends Animal Clinic after reading other reviews on Yelp.  I was so worried that they wouldn't take us on four hours notice.  However, after explaining my situation and concern about my dog's rapidly declining health and comfort, they told me to come directly to their office when I got to Sunnyvale and that the vet would see me on her lunch hour.  Dr. Koski and Rachel (the vet tech) were beyond amazing.  They treated us like we were the only clients they had that day and put their personal comfort (lunch) on hold so they could diagnose and treat a very nasty abscess behind my dog's ear.  They were so compassionate and made both my dog and his worried momma feel at ease.  I thought the costs for this little adventure were extremely reasonable.  Before Dr. Koski began treatment, she clearly explained the course of action and provided a written breakdown of charges.The entire team was fantastic and clearly love what they do!  As I was just moving into town (they knew I was staying in a hotel for a few months) they provided us with old blankets and towels so that I didn't have to worry about stopping to get the supplies I needed for my dog's recovery.24 hours later, my precious pup is healing well and back to his crazy lab self.  I could not be more pleased that I found this clinic! Awesome staff. We brought our 9 week old Shiba Inu in because he had blood in his stool and they were able to give us a TON of information. More than we were able to soak in at one sitting but when we left they had a whole folder of everything we needed to know prepared. They were all knowledgeable and genuinely kind. They even squeezed me in last minute despite not having availability on their calendar until the following week because they didn't want me to worry all weekend about him.The vet also encouraged us to call if we had any questions or concerns that she could address without us having to drive him in.
