I've been going here for over 10 years now. The staff is cool, but Dr. Stern is the BEST. I can honestly say, that I trust his professional advice. The one thing that makes him a good veterinarian is, that he NEVER sugar coats anything. He tells it like it is, which helps one make a good decision. This is a reputable place to bring your companions to and they are NOT money hungry like other veterinarians around. A lot of places, aren't honest, and tell you everything you want hear, in order to suck all the money possible from you, EVEN though they know that your loved one doesn't stand a chance... Thank you Dr. Stern, for devoting your time, and above all, for continuously putting our furries FIRST.

I've been coming to this vet for way over a decade. Things have change so much. I left another veterinary place because of the lack of professionalism and basic people skills. Now, these vet tech staff are the same(if not worse). I'm quite shocked because when Ana and other 2 employees were operating this office, it was such a pleasant, friendly and considerate environment. Now, it is overwhelmingly condescending, rude and as a matter of fact comportment in regards to the front desk staff. I'm truly saddened that it has become like this. I know that it is a direct reflection of who they are, but what they are doing is a disservice now. Dr. Stern deserves the best team on board. He has been part of serving, Sylmar's suburb community for way too long, to have his reputation be brought down like this. It is such a negative, to go there now... It would be highly beneficial to take a course on basic common courtesy and people skills. No one is asking for free services rendered. We pay for these services. All that is asked for is some decency and respect. Being rude is unacceptable.

Truly there are no words how I can express how Grateful my family and I are for the Understanding, the Compassion and Care we recieved for our pet Sam, our Basset hound of 15 years. I was helped during the decision in helping our Sam with his pains and suffering that was also hurting us to see him this way, we were helped with such kindness on giving him the rest he needed. My family are very Grateful and Blessed that Our Pet Sam had the care he needed , we truly miss him and our heartaches but we have Peace of mind with the help of Five Star Veterinanry that he's at Peace. God knows who he puts in our lives in the moments we need .

When it comes to shots, no appointment is necessary and I love how fast they take care of it because you just walk in, check in, puppies get their shots, pay and go. Less than 5 minutes. I've also seen the vet before. I arrived late and he was almost leaving but seeing how my puppy needed to be seen he stayed to consult him and was very nice giving lots of advice.

Dr. Stern is the best! We took our almost two month old Goldendoodle (my first pet) to Dr. Stern's veterinary office and him and his staff were so helpful. Dr. Stern took the time to let us know everything we needed to know about having a puppy, from training tips to what to expect during the next upcoming months. We really appreciate his dedication to making sure his furry patients are well off. Vet visits and medications are also very very fairly priced. Highly recommend.

BEWARE OF JASMINE "OFFICE MANAGER" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ZERO STARS. For the sake of brevity , here is what actually took place at this poor excuse of an animal doctors office. I left a message to refill my dogs Rx The staff has a CC on file so I felt confident that there would be no issue . Monday came and I noticed a charge that was more than double of what the medication cost. I was confused so I called Jasmine. She stated with the utmost authority that my dog had been there over the weekend for a strained neck. I assured her that this was not the case. She immediately became borderline hostile and Insisted that I WAS MISTAKEN After she realized the error, she reversed the charge , DID NOT APOLOGIZE FOR OVERDRAWING MY ACCOUNT then DISMISSED US. I was happy with Dr. Stern , asked on several occasions to please speak with him. I've yet to receive any form of communication with him. I truly believe if he knew how we were mistreated he would not be approving. NO ORTHODOX JEW WOULD EVER EVER TOLERATE THIS BEHAVIOR I HOPE NOW HE SEES THIS AND IMPROVES HIS STAFF GOING FORWARD LESSON LEARNED: Don't upset JASMINE or she will leave your pet abandoned with no replacement vet. I'm also fairly confident she NEVER passed along my message to the good doctor.

Highly recommend for a regular vet! The appointment and medicine are the cheapest compared to other veterinary centers I've gone to. I took my 17 year old dog here for an eye infection and my 14 year old for a check up. Dr. Stern and his staff took care of us and calmed my nerves for bringing in my old dogs. Dr. Stern is so nice and friendly that my assh/le dogs(who don't like anyone) absolutely love him. I drive from Palmdale just to see him. Worth the drive!

I have lived so close to this veterinarian and yet I did not take my dogs here. I am very thankfull that due to an emergency I had with my baby girl (chihuahua) I met Dr. Stern, he is an amazing, compassionate, honest, "highly" intelligent -well rounded veteranarian. And I am taking all my dogs to him. He treated my dog with care and I was really surprised my dog did not get angry the doctor was gentle with my dog. THANK YOU DR. STERN.

We have been taking our pets here for over 20 years!!! Doctor has great love for the animals, he works with each animals personality, and his bed side manner is gentle and caring. His prices are fair and I never feel staff try to up sell other services that are not necessary. Honest, fair, and excellent experience. Dr.Stern is the best!Best to make an appointment, if not there is a walk-in fee of $20. They had to do this because line out the door of walk-ins was getting excessive.

Called about my sick dog and they said we couldn't take him in until the following day, it's a clinic to treat sick pets not a hair salon where u can wait. Took him to another vet which was extremely busy but managed to squeeze him in.

He walked us through our options and all of his staff were very nice to us. We found the prices to be very affordable and they were transparent about pricing. Parking was also easy to find as there is a private lot.

His staff was also super helpful and pleasant to deal with. His office is modest and in kind of a crowded area but it was great. Dr. Alex Stern is the best DMV I've ever had he privilege to know. His staff is extremely accommodating even when I was late because I couldn't get my cat in her cage. He has kept both of my big dogs in good health throughout their lives until their last day on earth. Today I put my St. Bernard down. Dr. Stern is a gentle giant & made the entire process bareable. He made a house call to uthenize my Rottweiler due to logistics 5 years ago. Again so accommodating. I will continue to take ALL of my animals to 5 Star Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Stern is great. We brought our puppy, Bean, in for a checkup to make sure she was healthy. He spent a considerable amount of time talking with me about a puppy diet, housebreaking, teething, etc...
Dr. Stern is great. We brought our puppy, Bean, in for a checkup to make sure she was healthy. He spent a considerable amount of time talking with me about a puppy diet, housebreaking, teething, etc. I purchased the puppy plan, which included the initial visit, a fecal lab test for parasites, and vaccinations. When lab results came in (next day) discovered Bean had a bad case of parasites, so Dr. Stern prescribed medication for that. We gave her the medication for a full week and then noticed diarrhea, vomiting, and lethargy. Unfortunately Dr. Stern's office was unavailable (completely booked) so they recommended I take her to Chatoak in Granada Hills. There they treated her for her symptoms and prescribed more meds for the parasites. The very next day Bean looked even worse. I was fearful she had come down with parvo so we called Dr. Stern and was able to get a walk-in appointment. A parvo test was performed and luckily it came back negative. Dr. Stern told us it was likely a virus that had been going around and prescribed another medication to help with the symptoms. By the next day she was herself again. We are fortunate to have a great vet near our home and happy that it doesn't cost us an arm and a leg.

From my cats, dogs, and to my birds he has given them the attention and care that they need. Other veterinarians will make you break the bank when they care for your companions and it's quite obvious they all are in it for money.

Very clean, and I can honestly say they care about their work. One of my cats was sick, they took the time to try to find food that she liked including going to the store and buying various cat foods....

One of my cats was sick, they took the time to try to find food that she liked including going to the store and buying various cat foods.The Vet was late one day and I had an emergency, instead of wasting my time and possibly killing my cat they sent me down to another Vet after calling to make sure their Vet was there.The latest story is feeding stray kittens and they were just as helpful. This is my new go to Vet now that Collett's is so bad.

I first visited Five Star due to its convenient location and have not felt the need to go anywhere else. Dr. Stern seems more than capable and never fails to put me at ease when checking out my pets. The staff is young, but are knowledgeable and seem to like and care for all of their visitors - four legged and two legged alike. The wait can sometimes be long and the prices can probably be beat if you do your research, but I don't mind paying a little more knowing my friends are in good hands.

they were completely unhelpful with my cat. he was dying and they told us that there was nothing we could do... so we left and went to another hospital where they said he could be saved. unfortunately we couldn't save him. but he did last for a few weeks after that... anyways they did nothing for my cat and they wanted to just kill him on the spot. they went ahead and charged us 150 bucks for them to shove a catheter in him (that wasn't even flexible).DONT bring your pets here! and if you think something is wrong with your pet, DONT WAIT! I did, and I lost my cat. he suffered more than he had to and I couldn't do anything to help him but euthanize him. They depend on you so try to get them medical attention as soon as possible! even if you don't have money! i went to carecredit! google it! good luck!

Dr Stern has decades of experiences with animals. A wonderful knowledgeable doctor who charges less than average. Such an honest good man. I've been going to Dr. Stern for years and 100% satisfied with his service. He knows what's going on with my dog even without expensive testings. The staff is kind and there's no long waiting. I like that they are open on Sundays for half day. Great for me with my crazy schedule. The waiting room is s bit small, but who cares when you get the best for your 4-legged family members! His OFA exam and service is unbeatable. Costs much less than other places and without anesthetics.Makes a big difference. I will never take my dogs to any other DVM. The best Vet clinic in the Los Angeles area. I hope they'll be around for many more decades.

Truly there are no words how I can express how Grateful my family and I are for the Understanding, the Compassion and Care we recieved for our pet Sam, our Basset hound of 15 years. I was helped during the decision in helping our Sam with his pains and suffering that was also hurting us to see him this way, we were helped with such kindness on giving him the rest he needed. My family are very Grateful and Blessed that Our Pet Sam had the care he needed , we truly miss him and our heartaches but we have Peace of mind with the help of Five Star Veterinanry that he's at Peace. God knows who he puts in our lives in the moments we need .

Doctor Stein is fantastic. He cares about your pet and you. I live in Ventura and I take that drive as long as it's not a emergency. Five Star is also very fair when it comes to pricing.

When it comes to shots, no appointment is necessary and I love how fast they take care of it because you just walk in, check in, puppies get their shots, pay and go. Less than 5 minutes. I've also seen the vet before. I arrived late and he was almost leaving but seeing how my puppy needed to be seen he stayed to consult him and was very nice giving lots of advice.

Dr. Stern is the best! We took our almost two month old Goldendoodle (my first pet) to Dr. Stern's veterinary office and him and his staff were so helpful. Dr. Stern took the time to let us know everything we needed to know about having a puppy, from training tips to what to expect during the next upcoming months. We really appreciate his dedication to making sure his furry patients are well off. Vet visits and medications are also very very fairly priced. Highly recommend.

BEWARE OF JASMINE "OFFICE MANAGER" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ZERO STARS. For the sake of brevity , here is what actually took place at this poor excuse of an animal doctors office. I left a message to refill my dogs Rx The staff has a CC on file so I felt confident that there would be no issue . Monday came and I noticed a charge that was more than double of what the medication cost. I was confused so I called Jasmine. She stated with the utmost authority that my dog had been there over the weekend for a strained neck. I assured her that this was not the case. She immediately became borderline hostile and Insisted that I WAS MISTAKEN After she realized the error, she reversed the charge , DID NOT APOLOGIZE FOR OVERDRAWING MY ACCOUNT then DISMISSED US. I was happy with Dr. Stern , asked on several occasions to please speak with him. I've yet to receive any form of communication with him. I truly believe if he knew how we were mistreated he would not be approving. NO ORTHODOX JEW WOULD EVER EVER TOLERATE THIS BEHAVIOR I HOPE NOW HE SEES THIS AND IMPROVES HIS STAFF GOING FORWARD LESSON LEARNED: Don't upset JASMINE or she will leave your pet abandoned with no replacement vet. I'm also fairly confident she NEVER passed along my message to the good doctor.

Highly recommend for a regular vet! The appointment and medicine are the cheapest compared to other veterinary centers I've gone to. I took my 17 year old dog here for an eye infection and my 14 year old for a check up. Dr. Stern and his staff took care of us and calmed my nerves for bringing in my old dogs. Dr. Stern is so nice and friendly that my assh/le dogs(who don't like anyone) absolutely love him. I drive from Palmdale just to see him. Worth the drive!

We have taken all our dogs here. I love the doctor, He is amazing with our dogs... & always goes above and beyond for them. Most of the girls are very sweet and take care of you & your pet right away....

I have lived so close to this veterinarian and yet I did not take my dogs here. I am very thankfull that due to an emergency I had with my baby girl (chihuahua) I met Dr. Stern, he is an amazing, compassionate, honest, "highly" intelligent -well rounded veteranarian. And I am taking all my dogs to him. He treated my dog with care and I was really surprised my dog did not get angry the doctor was gentle with my dog. THANK YOU DR. STERN.

Once I see that they are I rush over and it's close! Never in my life have I been so upset! Just a suggestion to this business would be to update the actual times they are open/ closed.

His prices are fair and I never feel staff try to up sell other services that are not necessary. Honest, fair, and excellent experience. Dr.Stern is the best!Best to make an appointment, if not there is a walk-in fee of $20. They had to do this because line out the door of walk-ins was getting excessive.

Called about my sick dog and they said we couldn't take him in until the following day, it's a clinic to treat sick pets not a hair salon where u can wait. Took him to another vet which was extremely busy but managed to squeeze him in.

My fur babies love and are comfortable with Dr. Stern. He's reasonably priced. The girls in the front office are professional and friendly. Dr. Stern is usually very busy but that's a good sign to me....

It would seem wrong to give a place called Five Star Veterinary center any less than five stars, no? Doctor Stern was very kind and knowledgeable. He walked us through our options and all of his staff were very nice to us. We found the prices to be very affordable and they were transparent about pricing. Parking was also easy to find as there is a private lot.

I never thought I could again meet a vet who does it for the animal and not the almighty dollar. I was recommended to him my a stranger but it worked out great! His staff was also super helpful and pleasant to deal with. His office is modest and in kind of a crowded area but it was great. My dog thanks you and more importantly I thank Dr. Stern and his staff! I will spread the word!

Dr. Alex Stern is the best DMV I've ever had he privilege to know. His staff is extremely accommodating even when I was late because I couldn't get my cat in her cage. He has kept both of my big dogs in good health throughout their lives until their last day on earth. Today I put my St. Bernard down. Dr. Stern is a gentle giant & made the entire process bareable. He made a house call to uthenize my Rottweiler due to logistics 5 years ago. Again so accommodating. I will continue to take ALL of my animals to 5 Star Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Stern is great. We brought our puppy, Bean, in for a checkup to make sure she was healthy. He spent a considerable amount of time talking with me about a puppy diet, housebreaking, teething, etc...
Dr. Stern is great. We brought our puppy, Bean, in for a checkup to make sure she was healthy. He spent a considerable amount of time talking with me about a puppy diet, housebreaking, teething, etc. I purchased the puppy plan, which included the initial visit, a fecal lab test for parasites, and vaccinations. When lab results came in (next day) discovered Bean had a bad case of parasites, so Dr. Stern prescribed medication for that. We gave her the medication for a full week and then noticed diarrhea, vomiting, and lethargy. Unfortunately Dr. Stern's office was unavailable (completely booked) so they recommended I take her to Chatoak in Granada Hills. There they treated her for her symptoms and prescribed more meds for the parasites. The very next day Bean looked even worse. I was fearful she had come down with parvo so we called Dr. Stern and was able to get a walk-in appointment. A parvo test was performed and luckily it came back negative. Dr. Stern told us it was likely a virus that had been going around and prescribed another medication to help with the symptoms. By the next day she was herself again. We are fortunate to have a great vet near our home and happy that it doesn't cost us an arm and a leg.

This clinic deserves a 5 out of 5, even more! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to both myself and my mother in law to be! The doctor was very compassionate towards my baby, and towards us, and took my emotions into consideration. Also, very thorough examination. I will only go to this vet for now on! I am greatly relieved that there is hope for my old time baby!

From my cats, dogs, and to my birds he has given them the attention and care that they need. Other veterinarians will make you break the bank when they care for your companions and it's quite obvious they all are in it for money.

I've been going here for over 10 years now. The staff is cool, but Dr. Stern is the BEST. I can honestly say, that I trust his professional advice. The one thing that makes him a good veterinarian is, that he NEVER sugar coats anything. He tells it like it is, which helps one make a good decision. This is a reputable place to bring your companions to and they are NOT money hungry like other veterinarians around. A lot of places, aren't honest, and tell you everything you want hear, in order to suck all the money, possible from you, EVEN though they know, that, your loved one doesn't stand a chance... Thank you Dr. Stern, for devoting your time, and above all, for continuously putting our furries FIRST.

One of my cats was sick, they took the time to try to find food that she liked including going to the store and buying various cat foods.The Vet was late one day and I had an emergency, instead of wasting my time and possibly killing my cat they sent me down to another Vet after calling to make sure their Vet was there.The latest story is feeding stray kittens and they were just as helpful. This is my new go to Vet now that Collett's is so bad.

I first visited Five Star due to its convenient location and have not felt the need to go anywhere else. Dr. Stern seems more than capable and never fails to put me at ease when checking out my pets. The staff is young, but are knowledgeable and seem to like and care for all of their visitors - four legged and two legged alike. The wait can sometimes be long and the prices can probably be beat if you do your research, but I don't mind paying a little more knowing my friends are in good hands.

they were completely unhelpful with my cat. he was dying and they told us that there was nothing we could do... so we left and went to another hospital where they said he could be saved. unfortunately we couldn't save him. but he did last for a few weeks after that... anyways they did nothing for my cat and they wanted to just kill him on the spot. they went ahead and charged us 150 bucks for them to shove a catheter in him (that wasn't even flexible).DONT bring your pets here! and if you think something is wrong with your pet, DONT WAIT! I did, and I lost my cat. he suffered more than he had to and I couldn't do anything to help him but euthanize him. They depend on you so try to get them medical attention as soon as possible! even if you don't have money! i went to carecredit! google it! good luck!

Dr Stern has decades of experiences with animals. A wonderful knowledgeable doctor who charges less than average. Such an honest good man. I've been going to Dr. Stern for years and 100% satisfied with his service. He knows what's going on with my dog even without expensive testings. The staff is kind and there's no long waiting. I like that they are open on Sundays for half day. Great for me with my crazy schedule. The waiting room is s bit small, but who cares when you get the best for your 4-legged family members! His OFA exam and service is unbeatable. Costs much less than other places and without anesthetics.Makes a big difference. I will never take my dogs to any other DVM. The best Vet clinic in the Los Angeles area. I hope they'll be around for many more decades.
