We were on vacation and our dog got into some rat poison. We called the hospital and they told us to come in. Once we got there the two girls working were extremely professional and so so kind. Then we met Dr. H, we loved him immediately, he tested our Molly so gentle and kind. The next day we had to bring Molly back in they were completely booked with surgeries and procedures, but saw Molly anyway. Dr H came out into the parking lot to observe Molly walk. We were on a family vacation in Tahoe last week when tragedy struck ~ our beloved 16 year-old toy poodle, Frankie, fell from the deck of our cabin.  My son and I were at the lake; my sister rushed Frankie to Burton Creek Vet Clinic, who stayed open late to receive and care for her.  Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the front desk. Doctor Buckton was kind, caring, and empathetic. He spent much time thoughtfully and thoroughly explaining what we were facing and gave us all of our options.  In the end, we decided it was most humane to let her go.  He allowed me the time I needed to say goodbye.  I never felt rushed nor pressured to make a decision.  In such a heartbreaking situation, and in an unfamiliar place, it was comforting to know that Frankie received the best care possible.  I cannot thank Burton Creek Vet Clinic enough for their professionalism and nurturing care. This office has been our dogs vet for years. The staff is attentive and sincere. Sadly one of our very Senior Golden Retrievers passed away unexpectedly and quickly. We contacted this office for help with understanding the reason for his death, and to have him cremated. The office provided answers, took him for cremation and ultimately provided seamless path to allow us to grieve the loss of one of our cherished family members. They are great with put "older" chocolate Lab, Tuk...good blood work, so now on to teeth extractions and cleaning next week, very caring staff. Dr. Buckton way over charges.  It cost us $800 for him to do nothing but waste our money on test.  Just talked to another guy today and he was charged $300  for his cat's ear to be drains.  Get a second opinion. Read Less

I've always taken my cats here over the years. The staff has always been very helpful, and Dr. Buckton is very friendly and explains things in great detail. Even if I came in on a emergency they always took the time and never made it feel rushed or an inconvenience, even if I felt like it. I would highly recommend them! Simply Awesome!While recently on vacation in Tahoe our Shih Tzu became very lethargic and wouldn't eat. Not a fun situation to be in when you're on vacation. We took her to Dr. Buckton and he and his staff were amazing. He diagnosed her with Pancreatitis and took the time to explain all options and showed genuine care for our pet. I have now been to burton creek animal clinic twice with my two dogs. all I know is there are vets out there that your dog is just another number. But not at Burton Creek! It's like you can can tell everyone from the docs to the receptionist, their hearts are really in it. They're just so kind and answer all your questions and concerns. It's hard to find any business out there that offer the kind of service they do. When my beloved "Honey the Dog" became ill, I looked on YELP for a local veterinary clinic as I was away from home.  From the first phone call, I felt like that there were very caring people at this place.The receptionist/office manager made us feel welcome upon arrival.  Spoke with an intern that got my dogs vitals and then met with Dr. Buckton. I have taken my lab here since he was a brand new puppy. They have been mostly helpful, but when I really need them, they are not always available. My dog had a serious problem this week, he was bleeding from his behind. We called Burton creek immediately to have someone look at our dog. We were told that he was not sick enough for them to see him, even though he was bleeding. They could see him in 3 days, and could not give referral to anyone who could help right away. I have been taking my dog there for 4 years..and they could not make a little time to see him or even refer us to someone who could help. We found Agate Bay animal hospital on Yelp, Dr Bree Montana, who saw our dog immediately, diagnosed him with bleeding stomach and intestines and prescribed several medications. Several days later, our dog is starting to feel better.  We were talking with others who have had similar issues with Burton Creek. I will be taking our dog to Agate Bay animal hospital from now on. We just moved from Tahoe to the Bay Area, and my worries about finding a new vet, are only made worse because we just left such an amazing one!Dr. Buckton is in one word... incredible!I read the reviews of others online, before calling to setup an appointment for my pooch, and actually thought "there's no way he's this good". Well, apparently there is a way he's that good! ;) I left feeling lucky I was able to find such a knowledgeable, skilled and friendly veterinarian. I have asked around for recommendations for a new vet closer to my home and I kept hearing Burton Creek Vet over and over from my friends. Took my dog in for a skin irritation and a refill on some pills and Dr. Buckton was awesome! My dog is 13 and I've had a few vets because we've moved around, and I can say this place is 2 thumbs up and well priced.
