I have been taking my puppy, Lucy, to Dr. Wisa since she was about 6 weeks old, she's now about 7 months. Dr. Wisa and his staff are amazing, very kind to not only Lucy but  also to me as a new puppy mama.  Lucy is a small Shih Tzu and he treated her individually and was careful to space out her vaccinations because of her tiny size. Dr Wisa  also did her spay surgery with no issues. Dr. Wisa's staff also responded to a concern I had with Lucy over a weekend within an hour. I highly recommend Dr. Wisa and his staff! Read Less

East West Veterinary Clinic helped my dog go from complete paralysis in his hind legs to walking in just 2 months! My dog boo is only 9 years young and has such high spirits regardless of his use of legs. My family wanted to put him down because we have a new baby in the family and it was too much work to look after him too. I stood my ground and asked this clinic to please help because they were my last shot at keeping my dog alive and now he is walking again! Dr. Wisa saved my cat's life after the vet in Calabasas nearly killed him. He is an amazing veterinarian who genuinely cares about the animals as much as we do. He also incorporates alternative medical techniques that are very effective. My very old cat suddenly woke up one day and was unable to walk due to a compressed nerve. The vet in Calabasas gave my cat a very strong out-dated medication that literally put him into a coma - then would not return my phone calls. So I drove to T.O. and Dr. Wisa used IVs and vitamin shots to revive my cat. Then he administered laser-acupuncture and feline-chiropractic (instead of harmful drugs) to ease the pinched nerve. He put my cat on Vitamin D drops and a nutritional supplement - and my 22 year old cat has had 9 more months added to his life, thanks to Dr. Wisa. I could not be more grateful! He did not "dismiss" my cat because of his age, and he actually restored his quality of life with alternative treatments. And he always calls the next day to follow up and see how my (very) old Joe is doing! Thank you Dr. Wisa. You are the best! Read Less

I am so grateful to have met Dr. Wisa, Jose, Bita and the rest of the staff.  When I took Chloe to Dr. Wisa, he was so kind and compassionate to me.  My teenage son said to me when we left (he had gone to other vets & hospitals with me) "Dr. Wisa is the only doctor we have seen that really cared about Chloe and us, he isn't just about the money." She needed life saving surgery that I could not afford, and had been crying, thinking I was going to have to put our 4 legged family member down.  He was able to get her life saving surgery done for a more affordable cost.  I was really going to see if Dr. Wisa could help with keeping her comfortable in the last part of her life.  Thanks to his kindness and love for the "furry kids" we will hopefully have Chloe for many more years.  Thank you Dr. Wisa for taking such great care of Chloe! My pup Annie got a fox tail stuck in her ear during our hike. She was in so much pain, and wouldn't stop shaking her head/whining. I was in a panic, and rushed her in without an appointment. They were booked solid, but managed to squeezed her in. The second the doctor picked her up, my dog seemed to relax,as if she knew she was in good hands. The entire staff was super sweet, and let me comfort her throughout the whole process. They explained what they were doing every step of the way,and even let me look in her ear with the special scope. They quickly removed the fox tail, and sent me home with some meds to help with the swelling. Since then, I have brought both of my dogs in numerous times, and wouldn't dream of taking them anywhere else. I have gone to several vet offices in the past, and have never had someone genuinely cared about my pets like the staff here.Read Less

I just recently moved into the area and had yet to find a new vet for my precious kitty Meowzer in this area. The passing of my sister's dog inspired me to take her in and just make sure she had a clean bill of health. After doing a quick google search for vets in Thousand Oaks, I found East West Veterinary Clinic. They had a really enticing $1 new patient check up, and after checking up on reviews on here, I thought this looked like a good place to try. I called on a Friday and got a next day appointment for Saturday. When I arrived, the reception staff and Dr. Wisa were really busy with an emergency, so I didn't get to interact with them much right away. They took copies of my records and let me wait in an exam room so my kitty wouldn't get too anxious by the dogs in the waiting room. The nurse took Meowzer's weight, pet her, asked about my history, nice small talk to get some background. Dr. Wisa came in and did the exam, it was pretty quick, but my kitty is in general good health so it didn't need to be too long. She needed to get up to date on her shots and since it had been a while, and Dr. Wisa suggested we do a deworming and a teeth cleaning too. I explained that I would also like to check on Meowzer's kidney function (since kidney failure is the #1 killer of kitties), and he suggested we do full panel blood work to make sure everything was working properly. I really liked that he gave me an estimate of costs of all the tests/shots before I agreed to anything. He took my baby to the back and took his samples, and asked me to wait before leaving for about 15 minutes to make sure she didn't have a reaction to her shots. All in all, I think I was in the office for maybe an hour, even with that emergency. The $450 price tag was not what I was expecting after the $1 check up price, but it was a small price to pay for everything he did.Good thing we did the blood work, because the Dr. called me a couple days later to tell me my fuzzy angel's hemoglobin and white blood cell counts were super low! The Dr. said this was probably caused by the stress of my recent cross country move. We scheduled another appointment for a B-12 and a steroid shot to get her healthy. Another week and we had another appointment to check her levels, and they were all back to normal! The staff were all great during these other two appointments, really quick wait time, results on the re-tested blood work within minutes. The nurse fawned over my kitty, and she loved the attention. I think the grand total of nearly $1000 in vet bills was a little steep, but I love my cat.Long story short, Dr. Wisa is great, and my cat really seemed to like him. She is healthy and East West Veterinary Clinic took great care of her. Read Less

Dr. Wisa at East West Veterinary Clinic is a great, repeat great veterinarian. He has taken care of my dogs and cats for almost 8 years. He used to practice out of North Hollywood which was convenient because I live in Burbank. Then he moved his practice to Thousand Oaks. By then besides his unquestionable professional competence, we had become friends to I willingly made the 80 mile round trip to see him whenever one of my fur friends had a problem. My favorite pet, T-Roy a tuxedo cat developed an auto-immune disease affecting his teeth and gums about a year ago. Dr. Wisa saved T-Roy's teeth for as long as possible but finally most of them had to come out. Dr. Wisa is a conservative vet that believes in what is best for the pet and his quality of life, and always takes the time to explain choices, and the probable outcomes. He is very caring for the pet and the owner, never rushed, and never rough with the pet. He takes the time to let you know what's happening. If you call him, he returns calls the same day. His staff is very helpful and friendly, and good at working you in for an appointment, calling in prescriptions, and generally makes you feel welcome when you walk in the door. If you have a pet, and the pet requires any type of medical maintenance or attention, I would recommend you see Dr. Wisa. I trust his judgement implicitly with my pets.Read Less

I am very pleased with Dr. Wisa's office and staff. My 5 year old mini Dachshund developed UTI symptoms last Tuesday, so we called and got him a late appointment same day. We brought him in and were greeted by the wonderful office staff. Sir Dachshund is usually very anxious, but he felt at ease when Dr. Wisa and Kimberly attended to him. Nobody tried to push any tests on us; when we said we couldn't afford a certain test, they worked around it but told us we may need to get the test in the future. Everything was affordable and nothing was unreasonable. We are moving out of state in two weeks, but if we were staying, Dr. Wisa and East West would be our vet for our tiny pack. Read Less

We've been taking our cocker spaniel to East/West for 8 yrs  first with Dr. Martin and now with Dr. Wisa. Change is hard...while we considered a new vet I'm so glad we didn't. Yes, Dr. Wisa ordered x-rays and a senior blood panel but explained the importance of them especially for a senior dog. She was in pretty good health for 12 1/2. Recently though, she began to show signs of discomfort and we took her in to see Dr. Wisa. After an x-Ray it appeared that she had a large mass and the only way to determine if it was cancer was to do an ultrasound. We discussed the cost and the need and scheduled it immediately. It was indeed cancerous and her life expectancy with surgery was only 1-3 months. Dr. Wisa discussed the options with all of us and we decided to not put her through the ordeal of surgery but instead to focus on her comfort for her time remaining. He had her on acupuncture treatments, Chinese herbs and traditional meds as well. She appeared to be comfortable and at times even acted like a puppy! We knew her time with us was brief and we spent as much time with her as possible. It's been a week today that we had to let her go. The compassion they had for us and Aja was wonderful under terrible circumstances.  Dr. Wisa and his entire staff, Tim, Heather, Janet, Kim and Raul were so kind and accommodating. Always refilling the herbs and even 1/4 ing the tablets for us. We miss our baby girl terribly but we truly feel that she was in the best hands of Dr.Wisa and his staff. Dr. Wisa gave it to us straight and we appreciated his honesty. I would never hesitate to refer friends to East/West. Read Less

Stay away! This used to be amazing when Dr Martin was there. She was thorough and honest.I went there with the new Drs and 3 people checking out each had bills over $300. I thought that was a little odd. I went into the examination room and they tried to hard sell me on X-rays, for NO REASON except they just wanted to "check" to make sure everything is ok. Then they wanted to do random bloodwork because it's been a few months since the last bloodwork. I went back a month later for a different issue and the dr was out and they had a replacement dr. He also tried to sell me on random X-rays and bloodwork and barely read my dogs medical records. I got such a horrible vibe. Once again everyone there was paying $300+ for their visits. They have become a money making scam. Of course I couldn't keep my mouth shut and I said something to the staff, who are l really nice, and you can tell they aren't happy who the new practice. I moved over to Conejo valley vet. I don't like the fact there are so many Drs there but I'm trying to find the right one. They also didn't try and do X-rays or blood work for the exact same reason I bought my dog into east west for. I understand Dr Martin retired but if she knew what they did to her business, she would be really upset. Read Less

My dogs are 9 1/2 years old and have been getting their care from the East/West Veterinary Clinic since they were 3 months old. Mostly routine for both dogs, but lately I have been taking Charlie to see Dr. Wisa to determine why he is slightly anemic and supplements have not improved his condition. Through ultrasound, it was determined that Charlie has a mass in his stomach. Until further tests are done, it is not known if the mass is malignant or not, but Dr. Wisa has been very supportive. He even recommended that we take Charlie to a specialty veterinary clinic for an endoscopy. He never pushed me to just have surgery done to remove the mass. He listened to what I had to say and understood the enormous conflict I had to deal with. I like the idea that he combines both western and eastern medicine in his practice. Dr. Wisa and his staff are amazing, very kind to not only Lucy but  also to me as a new puppy mama.  Lucy is a small Shih Tzu and he treated her individually and was careful to space out her vaccinations because of her tiny size.

Read Less
