I just recently moved into the area and had yet to find a new vet for my precious kitty Meowzer in this area. The passing of my sister's dog inspired me to take her in and just make sure she had a clean bill of health. After doing a quick google search for vets in Thousand Oaks, I found East West Veterinary Clinic. They had a really enticing $1 new patient check up, and after checking up on reviews on here, I thought this looked like a good place to try. I called on a Friday and got a next day appointment for Saturday. When I arrived, the reception staff and Dr. Wisa were really busy with an emergency, so I didn't get to interact with them much right away. They took copies of my records and let me wait in an exam room so my kitty wouldn't get too anxious by the dogs in the waiting room. The nurse took Meowzer's weight, pet her, asked about my history, nice small talk to get some background. Dr. Wisa came in and did the exam, it was pretty quick, but my kitty is in general good health so it didn't need to be too long. She needed to get up to date on her shots and since it had been a while, and Dr. Wisa suggested we do a deworming and a teeth cleaning too. I explained that I would also like to check on Meowzer's kidney function (since kidney failure is the #1 killer of kitties), and he suggested we do full panel blood work to make sure everything was working properly. I really liked that he gave me an estimate of costs of all the tests/shots before I agreed to anything. He took my baby to the back and took his samples, and asked me to wait before leaving for about 15 minutes to make sure she didn't have a reaction to her shots. All in all, I think I was in the office for maybe an hour, even with that emergency. The $450 price tag was not what I was expecting after the $1 check up price, but it was a small price to pay for everything he did.Good thing we did the blood work, because the Dr. called me a couple days later to tell me my fuzzy angel's hemoglobin and white blood cell counts were super low! The Dr. said this was probably caused by the stress of my recent cross country move. We scheduled another appointment for a B-12 and a steroid shot to get her healthy. Another week and we had another appointment to check her levels, and they were all back to normal! The staff were all great during these other two appointments, really quick wait time, results on the re-tested blood work within minutes. The nurse fawned over my kitty, and she loved the attention. I think the grand total of nearly $1000 in vet bills was a little steep, but I love my cat.Long story short, Dr. Wisa is great, and my cat really seemed to like him. She is healthy and East West Veterinary Clinic took great care of her. Read Less
