I had a pretty horrific accident occur this past weekend with my little Yorkie, and only due to the location and having veterinarians available on a Sunday, did I end up at Animal Emergency Medical Center. Without getting too involved, (as I am still a little in shock and don't care to relive it) my friend who I was with when the accident occurred, looked up the nearest vet and called their office. Since it was a Sunday, the office she called had no doctor's in, so they kindly referred us to Animal Emergency Medical Center. My friend called ahead to their office and explained what happened, so they were expecting us. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly and they immediately took my dog back for an examination. First of all, let me start off by saying, I'm EXTREMELY particular. Second of all, I am typically a skeptical or "cautious" person, to put it lightly. I am big on paying attention to the vibes I receive from people and businesses. I was definitely in shock and quite upset when I arrived to the office around 3:30 pm. Things seemed to be moving fast and obviously a lot of information needed to be given to the staff. My friend stepped in to help and the staff was really on point. They were extremely kind, efficient and explanatory. No red flags went up for me whatsoever! After the examination, the doctor spoke with me and completely walked me thru the entire situation. In short, my dog needed to have a laceration surgery and would have to stay overnight. I have had my pup for 10 years, and I have NEVER had any sort of accident happen to her, so digesting all of this information was a lot.On top of my dog's physical well-being, and my emotional state, there was the issue of cost. I was literally dreading the amount of the estimate, but realized there was nothing I could do, so I quickly accepted that it was going to be what it was going to be and that was that. When they brought me up to discuss the estimate, I was pleasantly surprised and totally relieved. Every situation is different, so I don't feel like you can compare the cost of one injury against another, but I did not feel taken advantage of, and that was a good feeling. After I left the office, I called them around 8:45 pm to check in, and was able to speak with someone right before my dog went in for surgery. I asked that the doctor call me after she was done performing the surgery, and she called me back at 11:20 pm. The surgery went smoothly and she was happy with the outcome. I then proceeded with a follow up call at 2:00 am and they gave me a positive, thorough update. The doctor who performed the surgery then called me again at 6:20 am, before she was done her shift, and completely went over everything one more time. She said my pup was up, active, and acting like nothing happened! She told me I could come pick her up around 9:00 am, at which time I was advised on which medications were being prescribed, what they were for, how to administer them, and in what doses. I am also to follow up with an appointment in 2-3 days for them to re-bandage her wound.Bottom line, not one part or one person when dealing with Animal Emergency Medical Center was disappointing or upsetting. Everyone was kind, professional and thorough. My pup is recovering incredibly well and is no pain from the surgery. I really thank these amazing people who work at all hours of the night to be there for our furry family members. Read Less
