Dr Barrett is all about money! He doesn't care about your animals, he only cares about how much money he can get from you. I just got off the phone with their clinic, my dog has a severe ear infection that for over a month I've tried to get help with from the local veterinary, but, because I'm poor, and not from this area so my regular veterinarian is in another state. That's right, I'm someone that is on a fixed income for the rest of my life because of greedy people that caused my injury and left me for dead all over money. Now I again face the greed that consumes the weak, and Dr Barrett is just that, a weak human who seeks wealth through greed. I was told I cannot have my dog looked at because I don't have money. Thus the ear infection that I've been turned down by every veterinary in the area for six weeks now (probably because it wasn't bad enough to see my dog), has now swollen both her ears, throat, and she keeps crawling under the trailer refusing to come out, probably because she is dying. All this because the veterinary industry demands money if you want your pet to live. Well I'm disabled, and this pet is more than that to me, she has been my trained service animal for 7 years now, and now I am being forced to watch her suffer and die because of GREED! UPDATE; I call back to see if they may have a change in heart in light of my review. First let's address the conversation that sparked this review. In a discussion about a credit app for services, was told OK to bring my dog in and the Dr would see her. I asked for the address following my giving my name and phone number and my dogs name for the appointment, I was put on hold, and while waiting for her to return, another woman got on and told me I wouldn't be able to see the Dr unless I had the office fee, and I'd need to buy any meds, as well as any services or procedures would have to be paid up front. So my appointment just turned from paid by credit, to cash only. You see my dilemma, I've already explained I have no money, so I'm being brushed off because of GREED. So now my dog dies in front of me because I'm not in a position to afford the needs of my service dog, and not just this veterinary clinic, in the Modesto area I've been told over and over, "NO MONEY, NO SERVICE!" I only called back in a last ditch effort for help to save my dogs life, but instead, Monica accused me of calling back to harass them and hung up on me. The veterinary industry is just that, a money grabbing, greedy, hateful, and uncaring brood. They are the greatest animal abusers on earth, and should be locked up for the hate they have for animals. They only love your pet if you have money! Read Less

Thank you for caring and not just comforting my pup but me as well. The ladies in the office are sweet and funny but not to mess around. The one thing that I really liked about the Dr. was all the questions he asked and he went over possibilities and so forth. Also, my dog has anxiety (most dogs) and of course I do too but we both felt calm and welcomed she really liked one of the ladies that helped her which I'm surprised because she doesn't trust people so fast. Over all we definitely recommend this Community Vet. Clinic and I didn't even brake my pocket. πŸ’― Read Less

I have been fortunate enough to never have gone through The heartbreak of putting a fur friend to rest. I only met Sammy once the second time being when I picked him up with my fiancΓ© to take him for his last ride. It was heart wrenching and traumatic. Though I did not know him long I burst into tears and watching the heartbreak of saying goodbye in their eyes was enough to break The strongest of persons. Dr. Barrett came in with such a soothing tone & loving spirit... many tears later and a soulful "it is done" touched my heart and soul, never have experienced such empathy and I have been around several human deaths. More than plenty of time after to give our last cuddles and farewells... I am almost sure of the staff was passed clocking out time, w/o complaint! :-) soulful farewells were given. Seems fine for companion dogs and cats. However, he is not that knowledgeable in exotics. I brought in 2 rescue ball pythons that had respiratory infections. He did prescribe Baytril unfortunately. However, I must emphasize that he did not take a culture, which is a must with reptiles. Baytril is overused in reptiles and many strains are developing or have developed a resistance. Baytril also causes tissue necrosis when injected SC. And PO medication is pretty much rendered useless in a slow metabolizing animal like a snake. He also said the snakes will be fine as long as they had UV Light to bask under. But ball pythons are nocturnal. They do not need UV light. Nor do snakes benefit from light like lizards, turtles, or tortoises. One of the snakes did pass away within days. The remaining snake was taken to UC Davis and treated properly. Read Less

GREAT, FRIENDLY VET, but my only issue and concern is the both times I GONE, I had to wait for over 25-30 min to be called. I was new to this office last year and been to this office a second time recently and made my appointments on time and even gotten there 10-15 early for both appointments and on both occasions, I had to wait 25-30 MIN after my Appt. time for my pet to be called or checked. Having my dog with me, that's like 45- min waiting around doing nothing and hard on me and my dog. The staff could be a little, more friendly and say something why I haven't been called on a timely manner. I understand people get busy but If I have my Appt. at a certain time, it would be nice to have it, closer to the time and if not, at least someone tell me something, so I can maybe go outside and take my dog for a walk in the meantime, so I DON'T JUST SIT, around waiting and waiting for an inpatient pet on my lap. The first time I went, I thought it was just them being busy and I almost walked out because I WAITED AND WAITED and no one said anything and this second time, I go and seen its the same thing and NOT VERY happy with that type of service. The VET is great and once they call me in, everything is fast and profesional but the office staff could be a little more courteous and acknowledge their clients better. I think its rude to just go into an office and no one say anything, considering I was new and asking if I have to sign in or what but once you sign in, it's like one is invisible and no one says anything until 25-30 min later. So far my impressions are not very satisfactory.Read Less

Firstly, I don't usually post anything on Yelp unless I'm totally amazed by services or products. This place is a class act!! From the beginning and throughout the whole staff and Dr Barrett have been truly amazing. I brought my dog (Bailey) to this clinic for ACL surgery and bladder stones removal. Bailey stayed at the clinic for 5 weeks. I had so many questions and called numerous times for updates etc. Each time someone different picked up the phone and each time the service was absolutely amazing. Dr Barrett took the time and spoke to me sincerely and showed care. Everyone here is genuine, kind and caring. To top it all off they don't rip you off. They're absolutely affordable!!! All I can say is I've had a fantastic experience here and highly recommend Community Veterinary Clinic.Another update 9/23/16:Seriously, if I could give 10 stars I would. After 5 weeks of boarding and rehab we took Bailey home. After a few days, we noticed his knee was swollen so we took him back to Dr Barrett. He decided he wanted to perform another ACL surgery and told me he wouldn't charge a penny for the surgery, medication or boarding. Who else would do that??? The simple and obvious response from any vet would be something like this "I'm sorry to hear that but he was fine when he left our clinic. I will need to do another surgery which will cost this much $$$$". Not Dr Barrett, because he cares and wants to do the right thing for his patients. He took ownership and chose to correct the issue rather than blame someone else. He could have and most vets would have screwed their patients for more money. I don't know what else to say or how else to describe this......WOW!!! Read Less

Wow. I can't believe how wonderful an experience I had here. I had an emergency with my pet rat and couldnt find any vets in the area who saw rats. Β I walked in here early in the morning when they just opened. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful , they told me unfortunalty that they didn't have a doctor in that saw rats. Then one of the receptionists went to the back and came out an told me that there was a doctor that it was his day off but he would see my rat. On July 17th I called in asking to bring in my puppy Scrappy he wasn't feeling well. They said come right away. I was there for maybe 30 minutes and they were doing all kinds of tests on him. I had to leave him there for most of the day for him to get antibiotics and so they could watch him. Not sure what was going on. By the end of the day I called and Dr. Barrett said you can bring him home and call me if you have any questions. So through out the weekend I gave medication for diarrhea, Vomiting and antibiotic. In a matter of hours he was playing a little but still tired. The next day even better. Come Monday evening Dr. Barrett himself called on him to see how he was doing. I WAS SO IMPRESSED! I was referred to Brandon Barrett by a breeder. My rabbit wasn't eating. I told him what was wrong, but was told that it was impossible. I should have walked out then, and I kick myself every day since my rabbit died from the "impossible" condition for not doing just that. When I finally took him to another vet, it was too late. I didn't have $3000 for emergency surgery. Dr. Barrett killed my rabbit. He's the self-proclaimed "rabbit guy," yet he doesn't even know that if a rabbit's teeth grow too long, the roots will be forced up into the jawbone and even through the sinuses. He thought it couldn't happen because their roots don't grow. Their roots don't need to grow for it to happen! The rabbits grind their teeth and get pushed up!!! He's an inexperienced, undereducated big fish in a small pond. The staff gave me a hard time about picking up the x-rays too. I suspected they didn't take the x-rays, just charged me for them. This is not a good place for your animal friend. Don't allow yourself to be taken as I did. Brandon Barrett killed my rabbit. When I went to pick up the x-rays so I could wash my hands of this awful place, I called to make sure they were there so my 45 minute drive there, and 45 minute drive back would not be just a waste of gas. The receptionist told me they were sitting there on her desk, she could even see them. When I got there, she called my phone to tell me they weren't there. I rushed inside. She said they put them in the vault. I told her I don't understand why they'd put them in a vault when I was coming to pick them up, and I told her to just go get them. She said they were put in a week ago and couldn't be taken back out for another week. I was so angry. I began to yell in front of everyone. "How could you say you were looking right at them, then?? This is a waste of time, a waste of my gas. You called me 45 minutes later to tell me this??? I'm already here!" The other receptionist stepped in to tell me it was just a mistake and that I'd have to wait a week for them to get back out.I was so angry, but those were my x-rays. I had to go get them a week later. I'll be honest. My experience at this place was so terrible, I thought perhaps they were trying to cover their tracks from charging me for the x-rays but not actually taking them. Don't go here.

Read Less

I feel nothing but guilt for my decision to go here, and hatred for Dr. Barrett as well as the receptionist who made me drive 45 minutes before deciding to let me know she made a mistake, and the x-rays weren't actually on her desk as I'd been told. They were in "the vault" that would take a week to open, apparently. 45 miles of wasted gas, and she wasn't the least bit apologetic. This place is not good enough to trust with the health of your pet. Read Less

Read Less

They are not nice people, and they are really unintelligent. Read Less

Dr Barrett treats in a conservative manor with cost taken into consideration. They have a very nice office that is clean and free of any issues . I have a new pup and the puppy package is a great deal

Have a stray cat population in our neighborhood, called Community Vet Clinic to get info on getting stray cats fixed. I was able to get an appointment within two days. Dropped off a stray male this morning at 7:45AM, was greeted promptly and while filling out paperwork a tech came out to take the cat back. Dr. Barrett called after the surgery to let us know stray kitty was doing good and we could pick him up after 3PM. To neuter a stray male our bill was $40. Haven't found a better price anywhere in Stanislaus County. Very satisfied with their service and will go back! Read Less
