My Husband and I couldn't be more greatfull for the abundant compassion of the entire staff...I ran through there front doors muddy bare feet and injuries to my face as a result of two pits attacking me and my little 5 lbs yorkie.....I was in a panick in hopes they could save my baby...everyone ran to my aid..took my baby straight back...then when they told me Toby didnt make it they gave me private room to catch my breath...as they handed me my poor baby they told me no charge...today we recived a card from the whole staff...the continued compassion is a big comfort to us THANK YOU....as we are still in tears with a pit in our stomachs..we miss our Toby..... The people here are the best! They are so caring and friendly. I have been with First Street Vet. for quite a few years and whenever of my pets have passed away these very kind and loving people have gone so far as to send sympathy cards, knowing how much my animals mean to me. The kindness and compassion they show my animals comes through every time I am there. Dr. James Quinley has been my family veterinarian and treated my animals with respect, care, kindness, and love. All of the girls in the office are always wonderful to both me and my animals. I just can't say enough great things about this place! And 5 stars aren't enough there should be 10! My animals have been going to this vet center since the 1980s. I am involved in the care of many animals. I was there a few days ago & have an appt in a few days. The people are very friendly. They will work with you & help you as much as they can. Dr. Quinley is very educated & very good at doing what needs to be done but not doing things that don't need to be done that are a waste of money. Dr. Quinley is great with animals. He is caring, loving & gentle. He does all he can to not cause any pain or fear. I would trust him more then a person doctor! Read Less

I am writing this review not as vendetta, but to provide information that I would have liked to know before taking my pet here and spending $200.Dr Quinley and the vet tech Jovan were very nice and thorough with their exam. My dog got a bunch of shots and needed to get a booster. We spoke about him needing a Trifexis prescription, but I was not given one. I went in 3 weeks later for his booster and decided to have his nails trimmed at the same time. My dog was reluctant to go so they "allowed" me to enter the hallway to get him through the door, but it was made clear that I could not go to the back. When he came back out his one nail was bleeding badly. The attitude was oh well this can happen and I still got charged full price for the nail trim. Most I have ever been charged for a nail trim without buffing! I asked about the prescription and only now was being told that they would need special permission to get a written prescription to take elsewhere. A couple days went by without a word so I called only to be rudely brushed off by the receptionist, talking a mile a minute, that the request was on the doctors desk and he would get to it when he would get to it since we are not the only customers there. Today I called again and luckily spoke to a very friendly person and was told that my request was denied. I also received a letter in the mail today stating the same thing. I could get the prescription through them or their online pharmacy. They claim this is for the protection of the customers and the pet....but at the same time they would not honor the price of other pet pharmacies. So basically they are forcing my hand to buy it at their inflated price or not give my dog the meds. Worst case scenario I can get it from an online source that does not require prescription ....which is obviously not a good idea and apparently what the doctor does not want. Actually the online pharmacy they use would send a generic brand and not the brand item.By the way,  the AVMA's Principles of Veterinary Medical Ethics recommends that veterinarians comply with their client's wishes and provide written prescriptions if the client prefers having the prescription filled elsewhere. Of all the veterinarians that we have been to Veterinary Medical Center on 1st street is the best! The staff was very friendly to both us and my dog. We went in because our pups face was swollen. They prescribed him some antibiotics and we were on our way. The next day the swelling had gotten bigger and they got us scheduled for the same day. They had to keep him over night but I fully trusted the staff. He came home with a tube in his face. They called me to check on him the day he wouldn't see him. The day after he was scheduled to get the tube removed, but the tube fell out over night. They moved up our appointment to make sure everything was okay. I have only ever been okay with vet, like you have to be okay at the dmv because there isn't much option. But I love this veterinary! I would recommend them again and again. Read Less

I took my dog there after I stupidly took him to another vet in town and felt they didnt genuinely care about my dog after the 2nd visit, after neutering him and did nothing but say he looks good and here some pain meds bring him back in a week.. No explanation of what it could be, what it is, nothing! My poor dog had a HORRIBLE amount of Swelling, he could hardly walk--which i though was odd being he didnt come home that way.Brought him here and they were so helpful and gave me an explanation of what was going on and options on what to do for him. Everyone on the phone was very nice and helpful when I called to check on him. I am truly sorry I did not go here first!  Definetly will be back!!Thank you guys! Read Less
