We arrived the recommended 15 min prior to appt for our first visit. There was barely any wait for Elvis to be seen. The Vet tech and Dr. Brinkins are great! Thorough exam, very friendly, explained what they were doing and what they found. The medications were explained, including how and when to administer. A great experience all around! There is a little coffee/tea area for waiting humans, and of course, treats for the fur babies. We recommend Eye Care for Animals and will definitely come back!!! Thank you for everything!!! This week my Australian Shepherd, Madison  had cataract surgery with Dr. Esson.  I can't say enough great things about our experience there.  Dr. Esson is excellent! He is extremely knowledgeable and  thorough. He made sure we were fully informed making us feel comfortable that Maddie was in good hands.   The surgery went very well however the next day her eye pressure was high and they immediately took action.  They performed a special procedure that day, to reduce the pressure ( Thank you Dr. Brinkis) .  With careful monitoring and medication, the staff got her eye pressure situation under control.We were so grateful for their expertise and responsiveness.    I also want to comment on the AWESOME staff members there.  They really care and are extremely helpful. Josh was super thorough and comforting as he prepared us for the surgery ... what to expect, how to give eye drops, etc.   Delaney and Carissa were especially wonderful as they worked with Maddie, performing tests , giving her drops and cuddling her all the way.  This made the whole experience even better!  From the front desk to the veterinary technicians to the surgical staff, they are all top notch.  As we go through Maddie's recuperation period , we look forward to more interactions with Lexi, Megan,Erin at the desk and, Ashley, Rachel, Marisa, Sara, Josh , Carisa  behind the scenes.So I guess it is safe to say that I highly recommend  Eye Care Center for Animals.  When facing an eye surgery for your pet , you want the best .. and I can safely say, they are The Best! I brought in my 4 y/o Australian Shepherd here after she went blind in both eyes. I was so distraught and frightened. She is a competitive agility dog who had just lost her ability to compete or even catch a tennis ball. They diagnosed her with cataracts and recommended surgery. Now six weeks later, my girl can see again!! She is back in agility and plays all day long with her brother. I have also experience staff that are not very compassionate and or helpful and extremely short with you, It is really hard to get an appointment, you do wait a very long time past your appointment time and 5 minutes with the doctor is lucky at best. I do think the doctors are very talented but if I had another choice I would go somewhere else based on the experience. Read Less

Took my cat to the Phoenix office when I noticed a black spot in his eye. They recommended laser surgery. It was expensive, but went smoothly. Unfortunately the spots recurred and they recommended that the eye be removed. This was a big decision, and another big expense, but they were all very supportive. Dr. Barrett took the time to explain everything to me. The vet techs and front office staff were all very nice and took the time to make follow up calls after the surgeries. As soon as the pathology report came back they called with the results: Melanoma. Stage 1, so we caught it early and my cat has a good prognosis. Please don't ignore any irregularities in your pets' eyes--bring them here for a check up. Read Less

The vets here are good but very expensive for the amount of care. You wait and wait and maybe see the vet for 5 mins. They need to give better explanation of treatment, and long term care guidelines. I seriously walked out of here with drops and a bill for $200+. My dog seems to be doing ok but I do not know when or if we need to keep coming back for treatment or if her eyes will ever get better. Unless you ask specific questions you will leave here confused. Our regular vet at Bandfield gave us tons more information about our pugs eye issues then these guys. You can get good treatment here but be prepared to spend a minimum $200 per visit before meds and tests. Unfortunately this is the only pet eye specialist in north Orange County.Read Less

I wish I had checked these reviews before putting my dog's vision in their care. They were recommended by a Banfield pet hospital so I trusted they were competent. Given my experience, I do not believe that to be the case. (I have since notified all the Banfield vets in my area.) I would love to share my horrid experience but I am considering legal action. In the meantime, please----go elsewhere. From the doctors to the techs down to the uber-unappealing, disgusting Ashley----all are to be avoided. Read Less

This office is wonderful! The doctors and technicians are also wonderful, caring, and helped my dog everytime he's been there. He is a poodle with eye problems, and each time he has a flare up, the doctor clears it up, no problem. Very dedicated professionals! I highly recommend them! Read Less

Excellent eye care for pets in the Albuquerque office, They helped my Red Heeler Capone keep his sight in one eye after losing vision completely in one eye! I have a big bug eye Boston terrier who is in here a lot! He is always poking and scratching his eye. The eye care you get here is far superior to what you would get from a general vet. I always call eye care first for all eye issues. I get into a room fast. My exams go fast. I get checked out fast. It's a great low stress environment for my dog. The staff is friendly and knows my dog well. I also feel the prices are reasonable for being a specialist! I never feel like I'm going in debt over my dogs special eye needs. Dr. ESSON gave my dog Ginger her sight back with cateract surgury. SHE WAS MESRIBLE. She had no vision. He took out the cateracts and she is pirfect and recovering well now. She is happy and prancing around like a young dog five years younger. There is nothing I can sayto tell them how greatful I am to them for saving my dogs eyesight!!!. Love this place and I cant say enough about Dr Esson! My dog JJ developed diabetes 3 years ago which caused him to get cataracts in both eyes and he went blind pretty quickly. I had to regulate him which was really hard so I couldnt do surgery until then which took a couple months. Meanwhile he was blind and his eyes were getting worse. When he finally did have the cataract surgery the staff said he had one of the worst eye cases they had ever seen..which I knew already. If it wasnt for Dr Essons patience, dedication and experience I know my dog would have been blind for the rest of his life which would have been horrible for the both of us! Dr Esson is extremely thorough before, during and after surgery. He couldnt put lenses in his eyes but my dog is so stoked he can see what he sees and is not completely blind anymore! The facility is exceptionally clean and efficient and the staff very professional and friendly. Dr. Esson is truly the expert in dog ophthalmology = I agree he should be cloned, and I thank him every day when JJ looks up at me and "smiles" as if to say thank you...Wonderful and Caring Staff too!! I was reading the reviews below about them pushing surgery..that is completely false. They prefer not to do surgery if its not needed..its about the dog here not the money!!! BEWARE OF THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES. Terribly over priced and terrible service by the doctors. All they do is push surgery on their customers and poor defenseless animals. Don't trust them if they offer surgery. Go get another opinion. My pet ended up responding appropriately to an injection instead of taking out both her eyes (enucleation) like the doctors there had threatened was the next step. They said this to scare me and intimate me into choosing an even more expensive surgery using fancy lasers. It's all about scare tactics to get more $$$ and surgeries bring in the big bucks for them.
