Today was my pup's first visit here, and I know for a fact it won't be our last! My chihuahua mix had been paying too much attention to his behind, so to say, and after it persisted for 24 hours I knew a trip to the vet was in order. They were able to squeeze me in for a same day, last minute appointment no problem. Bonnie was so welcoming and sweet when we first arrived! That sweetness wasn't just an act - she was so sincere in helping my pup feel comfortable while we waited and was so natural with him!Lisa, their vet tech, was also stellar with handling him. He is a 11 lb small pup and has a lot of anxiety at the vet, but she was great with soothing him while doing some initial checks on him!In no time we were able to see Dr. Woodling for the check-up and to see what was going on with my pup. She made sure he was comfortable with her before just jumping in to treating him - something I don't always see with vets! Her whole checkup with him she was gentle, sweet, and compassionate with him! She treated him quickly and was thorough in explaining her procedure and how to maintain his health. She was also great with questions and giving thought out answers! Love seeing that and not just being rushed out the door. Bonnie checked us out afterwards and continued to be sweet with my boy! She offered him another treat as he refused the first one and played with him a bit. She made sure the $25 discount off the first visit was applied and let us know about a few packages that could save us money in the future!Overall an amazing first visit here! We started bringing our puppy Labrador Retriever to Newport Pet Clinic when she was 8 weeks old back in January on the recommendation from a friend. Bonnie and her staff have been nothing but professional, caring, and responsive. Our pup has gotten all of her shots from Newport Pet Clinic and was recently spayed and is recovering just as expected. I would not recommend this vet to anyone. I'm incredibly disappointed in the service my family received after seeing so many good reviews. Our dog injured his nail and needed to go to the vet. Our regular vet was unavailable so we found this vet and decided, based on the reviews, that we would head over there. We were told that his injury would require them cutting his nail all the way down to the quick (which would be painful and leave skin exposed). It was done while we waited and then we were hit with an almost $600 bill. We were told to come back for a follow up where they charged us another $100- $200 for looking at his injury and rewrapping his paw. We were then told that all of his paws needed the same procedure despite the fact that he wasn't even really healing from this one. At this point, it was decided he would go back to his regular vet for a second opinion. At that facility, we were told his paws were fine and the procedure they did was unnecessary and incredibly painful. His paw was given a clean wrap and, between that and the visit, it hardly cost us anything. We also had a follow up visit which was all part of the original bill therefore we were not charged again. Again, I do not recommend This vet to anyone. The clinic may look wonderful but the service was terrible. Read Less

Cleanest pet clinic ive ever been to! The staff is incredibly friendly and clearly love and care abiut what they do. For my experience, the were very fast and extremely affordable. Took my apple-head chihuahua there for the first time because I had forgotten to pay his annual license and he needed proof of rabies vaccination.  I was headed out of town so I called in the morning and they were able to squeeze me in the same day - woohoo!I ended up getting the recommended DPT and bordetella because he'll be boarded soon.  Bonnie checked us in and Dr. Nicole Beaudet gave him an examination.  They were both very sweet and loving towards my little guy.  I didn't feel rushed at all.We were going to a different vet but not any longer.  Newport Pet Clinic won me over! I am so saddened to hear of Dr Bass' passing. I absolutely LOVED Dr Bass. The very first time I went there I will never forget him telling me I take pride in my geriatric patients. My dog was 15 and had been written off by another vet and Dr. Bass took great pride in taking very good care of her. I remember that visit well. At 6 pm I finally had to say " Dr Bass I'm sorry but we have to go.... I have to pick up my children" His love for his patients and there fur babies was unmatched. I'm so glad a friend recommended this pet clinic. We originally started going to Newport Pet Clinic when Dr. Bass was there and we absolutely loved him. He took time with Buddy and I never felt rushed. We were very sad to hear that he passed and honestly quite nervous about the new veterinarians on staff. After Buddy's first appointment since Dr. Bass' passing, I was relieved knowing they brought on top notch animal lovers. From the time I called to make an appointment to when I left, everything about my experience was wonderful. My dog had a spot on her eye that I wanted checked out, so I called this place and they were able to accommodate my preferred day and time. On the day of the appointment, I filled out a short form and waited approximately 10 minutes to be escorted into the exam room. The office was fairly small, but the staff was so friendly! There were some yummy dog treats on the counter to occupy my dog while we waited. The vet was very thorough and did a head-to-toe check on my dog, as well as assessed the spot on her eye (which ended up being normal discoloration). She spent a good deal of time answering all of my questions and responding to my concerns, and also made some recommendations for continued care - the appointment did not feel rushed at all! I feel so lucky to have found this place. All the staff are so nice, kind and caring toward you and your pet. This clinic and the doctor was God sent, since my cat had a chronic urinary track infection that was treated with multiple rounds of antibiotics At another clinic. I was so frustrated and had lost my hope to ever find a honest vet to actually care for my pet. I could not believe the vet spent an hour with me and my cat and explained to me in detail what the underlying problem was. Excellent staff, excellent care. We have been bringing our dogs and cats to Dr. Bass since about 2007. We were referred by a good friend who is very picky about good care so we felt confident in her referral. We tried Dr. Bass after other clinics were unable to diagnose our dog, Lexus, skin condition. Dr. Bass made a diagnosis and prescribed meds and treatment that brought relief or our dog and gave him a quality life again. We have been with Dr. Bass ever since. It's been around two months since I took my cat to this clinic and honestly I was so upset by my experience here that I had to wait this long to write a review about it. To be fair - the front desk girls who work here are very kind and the assistants seem to genuinely care about animals. But I really feel like I was taken advantage of. The doctors here will try to get you to do excessive testing done in order to bill the crap out of you. Both vets I dealt with wanted to do various tests on my cat for things that aren't even treatable. Does that make any sense at all? Especially when we're talking about a very ill, elderly cat who was already traumatized enough by being on the brink of death. They kept stating that my cat could have x, y and z and they needed to run multiple tests including a $350 ultrasound on him UNTIL I asked the logical question of the purpose behind testing him for things that cannot be treated or cured - to which they backed off and agreed that he only really needed to be tested for a parasite since that was treatable. They also charged an arm and leg for hydrating him and for an appetite stimulant pill. To give you an idea of how much I was over charged, I went to a vet a few days after I was ripped off by this clinic and the new vet charged me literally 75% less than what Newport charged me. Not only that, but the new vet recommended I do hydrations and feedings AT HOME since it would a) be more convenient than having to drive back and forth all day and b) it would be much more cost efficient. I wasn't even given this idea or option by the Newport vets. I'm really disappointed that I was taken advantage of at such an emotionally delicate time for me. My little best friend who I had since he was a kitten was sick and they knew I would dole out the cash to get him better. I spent around $400 here on two blood tests, ONE pill, and two hydrations. My dog Lightning is a Springer Spaniel who had allergies since he was born. I took him to see Dr. Bass three years ago. Dr. Bass did several tests and change food a couple of times and bingo! Lightning never got those bad blisters or rashes again. It has been three years and my Lightning is still allergy free. Thank you Dr. Bass!! Full disclosure...I've never been to another vet.  I came here because it's close to my house and I've heard good things about Dr. Bass.  My dog is a German Shepherd/Lab mix, and when we adopted her I brought her in right away to get checked out.  Dr. Bass has a great manner with her, and she really enjoys (believe it or not) seeing him.  He is very knowledgeable, and was patient with all my first-time dog owner questions.A few months after getting our dog, she developed a few health problems that required medical attention.  I was able to get an appointment right away and the clinic did blood and other tests.  She actually had two separate problems, and both were treated quickly and competently by the staff.Now we get regular meds from the clinic.  The staff is awesome and keeps our dog's records up to date and sends regular reminders about shots, appointments, and medication refills.This clinic also has teeth cleaning and grooming.  I've utilized both services.  The teeth cleaning is great, and the staff will send you pics of the dog while it's happening.  Very comforting.  I haven't used the grooming again..not because it's not good.  It is.  Just easier to use a mobile groomer.  I highly recommend this clinic!  Bonnie, Dr. Bass, and the rest of the crew are awesome! After bringing home my new french bulldog Fiona I knew I needed a good vet clinic. Poor thing she was red, inflamed, bleeding in some places from scratching herself raw and definitely allergic to something. The staff at Newport Vet Clinic were prompt in making the initial appointment and within 2 days I brought her in. Fiona was scared and shaking but the front desk staff were soft, kind, gentle, and very sweet upon our arrival. It definitely helps to calm the animal and I felt confident that she would acclimate. The girls at the front were awesome, they made Fiona and I feel at ease while we waited for the vet to come in.Dr. Bass did an all over exam and found a yeast and bacterial infection as well as an ear infection in both ears. I felt comfortable with Dr. Bass and after the diagnosis we were on our way, medicine in hand, instructions on how to use it, at home shampoo and conditioner to treat the coat, and a dietary suggestion. He showed me how to properly clean her ears after we treat them. I followed thru with the instructions and Fiona the frenchie was on her way to health. Newport Vet Clinic will definitely be our new family vet office forever! I am so happy to have found them and would highly recommend them to anyone. Read Less

We moved from another local vet because they were expensive and missed a couple of things they should have caught. Dr. Bass ia s huge upgrade and he charges less!! This guy loves being a vet. Its his calling and hes very good at it. He is thorough, thoughtful and caring. He is totally into his work. Our pets used to shudder when we brought them to our last vet. I was looking for a vet for my new dog. I searched the internet and ask for recommendations from friends. I decided to take my german shepherd to Dr. Bass because she had been not feeling well. When I called and explained my problem Theresa immediately made room in their very busy schedule to see her that same day. Dr. Bass was thorough and gentle with her throughout the exam. I was amazed to fing a vet like this in todays World. He was amazing with my 5 week old french bulldog. My puppy had a severe blockage and was teetering on death. I explained that I didnt have the funds to do alot of the tests etc. He spent so much time with my puppy and when I couldnt afford the X-rays, he did them anyway, he said he did it in the interest of medicine ( didnt charge ). It was decided that the puppy would need a major surgery and I made the decsision to put the puppy down. I was shocked when he stated that he didnt go into the proffesion to euthenize viable puppies, and offered to take the puppy and do what he could to save him, and if he lived, it would become a memeber of his family . I think Dr. Bass is one of the best Vets out there! He always take his time to really understand the problem my dogs are having. He went to lenghts to find out why my dog was having intestinal problems. We change his food and the problem was solved. All other Vets just gave me medication and charged me for a bunch of test and my dog suffered for a year before I saw Dr. Bass. I recommend him for sure!!!!
