Because I've had such a positive experience with THE Cat Hospital, I thought I should leave a review... Even though I've only had one cat, and this is my only experience with any cat hospital, I do want to say The Cat Hospital has exceed my expectations with customer service and care for my cat. The staff is super friendly and caring towards my cat, and have taken their time to answer my questions and concerns on the phone or in person. My cat needed to stay with them for a medical procedure recently, and I was surprised I was able to visit my young cat during her stay, and give her some love on my lunch break. I am also impressed with Dr. Elston's time that he gives during a check-up visit. He really understands cats and I was thankful to have 40 minutes of his time to talk to him and ask questions. The Cat Hospital serves cats only, which is AMAZING. I never have to worry about bringing my small, sweet cat into an environment with larger dogs (-who seem very scary for an indoor cat!) This is the best cat hospital ever! Before bringing my sweet fur baby here he had so many misdiagnosed health issues. We got here and the doctor got straight to the root of the problem and though there have been a few he was quick and efficient about getting down to the nitty-gritty and making sure and that our kitty was comfortable and well. My four cats have been going to Dr. Elston and staff since 2006, when we moved here from Tennessee. We've boarded them there; they've seen my girls through thyroid conditions, kidney problems, bad teeth, diabetes, and now congestive heart failure. Two of my kitties were put to sleep at THE Cat Hospital, and the staff could not have been kinder. My two remaining cats are both seniors, and Dr. Elston, Jamie, Elizabeth, and all those who have worked there over the previous 12 years have always been informative, supportive, and kind. I have been bringing my cat here since 2011, and have never considered going anywhere else. The staff have given my cats loving care. When my cat had a full urinary tract blockage, Dr. Elston's quick actions saved our cat's life, plain and simple. We also use the facility's "Cat's Pajamas Bed and Breakfast" (love that name!) boarding facility when we are traveling. I would give this so called cat clinic a minus star rating if I could. I took my cat here because he was experiencing some sort of allergic reaction. He was put on medication for some temporary relief. He was never put on a more long term plan because we brought him this last time because he was straining to urinate. They took him back after keeping us waiting for over an hour. They discovered he had crystals in his urine. After an over night stay where the doctor recommended he stay in their care and NOT in a facility where he would be monitored throughout the night, we received good news... our cat pulled out his catheter throughout the night and was urinating on his own. He was ready to come home! We picked him up, after a HUGE vet bill and a lot of medication, we were on our way home with our baby. Well a couple hours after we arrived home, the cat began exhibiting strange behavior; stomach contracting, deep meows, and trouble breathing. The clinic was closed so we rushed him to emergency where we were told he should have never been sent home. With this issue, they recommend cats to have a catheter in place for at least 48hrs and to be monitored, as well the medications sent home from the cat clinic were not the proper dose. So we almost lost our cat because of their negligence in dealing with our cat. They called us the next day to check on our cat and we explained what had happened and to speak with the Vet. Well she was conveniently on vacation which leads me to believe she was eager to send the cat home before she left. The office manager would review our case and call us back as we felt we needed some sort of compensation or reversal of payment for almost killing our cat. They never called back. My husband called and they felt they had done nothing wrong so they weren't going to compensate us. I am so deeply disgusted by the way they handled our situation and will NEVER take my cat there again! Be ware! Read Less

This is a great establishment! Mia(my cat) is pretty much my child and if anything happened to her I'd be crushed. Since moving to California she's had a few issues that were easily resolved by going in for a quick appointment. It's a little bit pricier then other places but, you really have a veterinarian that cares so much about your fur baby. He is very kind and gentle. Also, I love the pet cats that walk around the office. They are so beautiful and friendly. If you want a great vet for your fur baby this is the place! Read Less

Dr. Elston has been our veterinarian for over 20 years and has cared for several of our cats. Three have gone to the Rainbow Bridge, and the third was just last Friday when we had to let our beloved Oscar go. Oscar had many issues-CRF, Gastric lymphoma, anemia, and several other complications, but he was cared for and loved by the staff at T.H.E. Cat Hospital, especially Dr. Elston, Elizabeth, and Cindy. Dr. Elston and his staff are truly, truly, truly exceptional.. They have been our CATS only veterinarians for more than 30 years.. Dr. Elston has a CATS only veterinarian clinic for a less anxious environment of a regular veterinarians office.. ( <3 CATS ONLY <3 ) My rescue KoKo has been in Dr. Elstons care since my February of 2016.. Dr. Elston is phenomenal with all feral, abandoned, abused, neglected cats.. He is a superior veterinarian.. My family trusts this extra special facility, bringing our cats ONLY to him.. He has been a wonderful and joyful part of our cat family history, including Wiggie who passed from Lymphoma.. Dr. Elston prolonged an incredible life of happiness for Wiggie, we cannot express in words how gracious we are to have had our baby Wiggie for 18 loving years.. Dr. Elston also cared and treated my rescue baby Nin, for a full 14 loving and beautiful years.. She had become unfortunately terminally ill.. I could not have asked for a more tranquil and peaceful passing of Nin.. Unfriendly staff at reception, atmosphere was tense. I came in looking for a new veterinarian, as I recently moved to Irvine. Didn't get more out of the lady than a few words, no warm welcome. I was given a sign-in form which I filled in, afterwards I tried to get a bit more information. Turns out, they offer declawing as a procedure to help against furniture scratching, and they didn't even suggest alternative options first. Been going here for years. I don't ever feel like we are rushed out the door. I have three cats and they each have their own personality. One of which is a jerk sometimes and they handle her pretty well. The second is the epitome of a scaredy-cat and they do a great job making him feel comfortable. I cannot even express how amazing the experience I had this evening was. My friends cat is very very sick and we found T.H.E. Cat Hospital. Though there isn't much we can do the doctor answered all of our questions and spent over an hour making sure he was clear and honest with us. New to OC, I wanted to find a vet that specialized in just cats, someone I could trust for both regular maintenance and big issues should they ever come up? After checking out several, I settled on The Cat Care Clinic in Orange run by Dr. Elaine Wexler-Mitchell. Her practice is clean, quiet (so easy on my cats), fully up to date and staffed by the most sincere and knowledgeable people you could hope for. Everyone from the front desk folks to the tech staff and doctors are completely dedicated and a joy to see. As it turned out, one of my cats developed a serious condition? YIKES? but Dr. Wexler-Mitchell pulled him through. Her whole group went the extra mile. Now Boo Boo is back to his healthy ways once again, thanks to Dr. Wexler-Mitchell. I must say that I found the service to be outstanding. All of the staff were great. Amanda must have answered 20 minuets worth of questions before I had even set up a first time appointment. The Doctor... Dr. Starr was so caring and seemed to give you true answers not just what you wanted to hear. Our family cat is fine but I am sure I just formed a lifetime care giver for Yoda...
