So, I made a call to ask questions about the operations of this veterinarian hospital. The receptionist that answered the phone was very rude. I wanted to know if they had a vet tech that comes in on the weekends to check on the animals that are there. She said no, that they have a receptionist that comes in and hands out food and medication. I responded with, so you do have someone that comes in on the weekends? No, we do not have a vet tech that comes in . I could hear her attitude on the phone. I asked if I had to leave my dog there overnight, and she completely cut me off. She said we don't keep animals overnight. Sorry, but the rudeness of the receptionist, the fact that they don't keep animals overnight (even if they're sick/hurt) and closed on Saturdays and Sundays, completely turned me away from wanting to do any type of business with them. Well, the veterinarian will most likely want to do an xray.". My response was " well, I'm not sure I want to do an xray but blood work sounds more like what I would like to do." We had to put our dog down after repeated visits to this vet did nothing for her skin condition.  They poopoo anything suggestions having to do with nutrition and were flummoxed as to why our dog was having massive reactions and dermatitis.  Just kept her on steroids which were not working and another medicine that caused her not to be able to use her back legs.  They do not seem to much care about the animals.  Today we have an emergency with another one or our dogs who has gone down and cannot get up.  I asked if they could fit me in with their last appointment because I cannot lift her on my own and must wait for my husband to get home and help me.  But they would not do it.  The receptionist showed no concern or compassion whatsoever.  Told me to take my dog elsewhere.  I am a teacher, also a service sector.  I would be excoriated if I was so uncaring and unwilling to give an extra inch for my students in need.  I've been to this vet for the last time and will take my business and the care of my three dogs elsewhere. If there was an option for zero stars, as in not a SINGLE star I would use that option. This animal hospital had some of thee most disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional female nurses/vettech's I have ever communicated with. I brought 2 puppies in that I saved, beautiful doggies. Long story short the nurses are incredibly rude to my face about realistic, common sense, basic questions I ask. Then they close the door while I'm speaking - and In the meanest, most condescending bitchy tone, they're talking amongst themselfes about me, literally while I'm on the other side of the door. Then the heavy set nurse enters the room and begins communicating with me like I'm an idiot- the most incredibly passive aggressive under tone she could of gotten away with.... You guys, I am tellin you it was incredible. Next the head vet enters the room. Again, very common sense questions I ask. She begins with the same vibe, like I'm an ignorant idiot for having questions. Using Fear telling me that I "need to test them, because it could be THIS, or it could THIS. Which I respond, what are the symptoms? She tells me. I say it isn't that. She yells, (really yells) argues, asks if I'm a doctor, etc. total typical hysteria nonsense: Doing her best to pressure me into spending the max amount of money. So you know what? I do it. The test comes back NEGATIVE OF COURSE. Then she tells me I'm making her feel stupid. It was an incredible experience. I definitely won't be going back here with this vet again. Maybe they'll be good for you. But me and this lady just weren't aligned.  They try to suck ya dry imo. 304$ later for 2 tests and something to stop puppy diaria. Read Less

I am completely shocked about any negative comment with respect to Mt. View.  First and foremost, the office staff has always been incredibly nice.  I have often times had to make early morning appointments for my fur baby and they are always there ready for us.  The receipts are hand written but I'm not there for a pretty receipt.  They do not have water bowls or toys etc but i appreciate that for the reason alone that most people are at the hospital because their pet is ill.   Dr. Culley is by far the best vet around. He is always very thourough with his examinations and really takes the time to make sure all of my questions and concerns are addressed. Recently i had to seek emergency care for my baby over the weekend and Dr. Culley and his staff were there to follow up and guide me through this scary time. The other day we had a little kitten wander into our lives at the end of hers. We took her to Mountain View and even though they could see she was fading fast, the staff went to lengths to try to help her in her fight. After two visit and valiant efforts by the staff, poor Taffy passed away. When I called Mountain View to let them know she was passing they were so sweet and understanding. They allowed me to return the supplies I had just bought and would now have no use for. They even stayed open late on the day before the 4th, when I'm sure everyone was looking forward to getting home early and starting their weekend, so that I could come leave her with them. Then a few days later we got a very sweet condolence card signed by all of the staff. I will definitely be taking my dog and other pets here from now on. If there was an option for 0 stars I would be leaving that. Since they don't, I'm leaving 1 star. I am an in home pet sitter and was sitting a small Maltese mix male dog that owners belong to this vet hospital. He was sadly bitten by another dog and I needed to move quickly so called this vet as quickly after as I could. I called, they looked up the dogs and owners information and told me that I needed to tell the owners that they needed to authorize me to come in with the dog to be seen, which I completely understand. So since the owners were out of the country my site that I sit for called the vet and sent them documentation that I was the pet sitter and sent paperwork from their company. After not hearing from them the representative from the website emailed them and with still no answer an hour later she went ahead and called back and told them I had just been in and they had to turn me away. I went in because I was extremely concerned with the dogs well being and they then decided to tell me that they could not take appointments today because it was the vets surgical day and they don't see any appointments today. WHY DID THEY NOT TELL ME or the site representative that when we had called 3 times prior? It was very unprofessional and put my dogs health at risk and in extreme danger if I had kept waiting for them for a response. I have no idea why they could no relay this information to me sooner so I could have taken the dog to an emergency hospital, which I had to end up doing anyway. I truly wish this never happens to any of their future patients because it would be the absolute worst to lose a pet over such nonsense like this today. Read Less

I've been a customer here for 5 years ever since my dogs been a puppy, they were friendly and better than the vet I had before so why the poor review??? I feel as though they are unethical and try to get as much money from you as possible, my dog began scratching a lot around 1 and when I bought them in Dr. Hesi would always tell me allergies are really bad this year, he'd recommend drugs I'd pay and after a while the only thing that would help his scratching was steroids which is not something you should give long term. I did this for about 4 years until I finally caved and decided to do allergy testing based on their recommendation...NOTE allergy testing is not cheap it cost me about 600-700 total and afterwards he still had allergies and scratched so basically it was a waste of money. I finally took him to PET TIME and while I had to wait an hr because they were busy it was worth it, the first thing the dr asked is if they gave him this shot which I said no, he seemed surprised but I was 100% they did not give him the shot. Either way they gave him the shot and from then on he hasnt had any issues with scratching or allergies. The worst part is when they called to request my dogs files Mountain View Vet gave them one paper with really generic info not the complete history they should have. They had to call them daily for a week to finally get the files that they were suppose to spend. LONG STORY SHORT: Do Not Go Here, They Are After Your Money! Read Less

I love this Veterinary Hospital. I had a pet rat that had a very large tumor growth on his left-lateral side. I called 15 vets in a 50 mile radius from Claremont. ONLY 3 would accept rats. Most clinics could not touch or even look at him. And 2/3 clinics tried milking money out of me just to have a Dr look at Rufus. (I knew from the beginning that, being 2.5 years old with that large of a tumor, euthanasia was the only way to go. Recovery from a tumor that big was very slim- I'm a pre-vet major myself). So I was looking for humane euthanasia of my pet. I won't name names or clinics. But other clinics' "out the door price" (price after everything calculated) was $70+ just to euthanize my poor rat. I called this office and talked with the receptionist. Naturally, this isn't something they normally do. And I would not advertise it loudly. But the doc was able to see my Rufus and take him in the back and humanely end his suffering (euthanized). And they did it for $30. Now, rates change, and people leave. So if you call asking for the same thing, don't be surprised if they don't do it anymore. They were even kind enough to wrap him in a towel for me to take back home and bury. I think its cheaper if you take your pet back with you- fee for disposal of, well...you know. If you've ever been emotionally distraught over a decision you didn't want to make, you would know that even the slightest road bump can be anxiety-inducing. The vetT that took my pet was so sweet with him. She wasn't disgusted of him like most others I called previously. She held him, pet him, and he played with her long hair. I am tearing up now and this was 3 months ago. She made him feel loved and made me feel like he was in good hands. God Bless her. I wish I could remember her name. Reddish dyed hair? Brunette. And a bigger framed woman. Really sweet gal. Thank you if you are reading this! Read Less

I have been using Mountain View with Dr. Heise as my original vet for my bulldog the past few years. After not visiting for about 8 months, my dog suddenly started to experience some regular skin issues she has faced since being a puppy. When I looked up the Mountain View Vet Yelp page, I was so bummed to see Heise had left. He had helped my dog with her past allergy & skin problems. I called the vet and they advised I could see Dr. Shauna that next day. I went in not knowing what to expect and what I found was the BEST vet to ever take care of my baby. On my first initial visit, Dr. Shauna was very attentive, thorough and never made me feel rushed during my appointment. She prescribed antibiotics and steroids for the allergies & skin issues. Unfortunately the next few days my bulldog went very downhill with a number of issues popping up resulting in her not walking. I was able to get a next day appointment with Dr. Shauna. By the second visit I knew there was no other vet I would want handling these tough issues with my dog. She reacted immediately and again exceeded my expectations with her experience, attentiveness and help with what we were dealing with. Over the next few days, we continued to experience more problems which resulted in surgery for my dog. Being a nervous wreck when it comes to surgery usually but I felt so good knowing that Dr. Shauna would be talking care of her. After her surgery, we received a followup call from her to see how my dog was doing. Just another sign of what a true caring vet she is. We discussed waiting for the results and sure enough a week later I received a call from her to discuss the results and what to do going forward. After the wonderful experience I have had with Dr. Shauna, I knew I had to post my first Yelp review because I have never had such perfect customer care from any vet. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Shauna and will HIGHLY recommend her to everybody I know. I will always bring my dog to Dr. Shauna for all vet related issues big and small. After our prior vet closed shop, we started coming here based on prior vet's recommendation to see Dr.  Dickey.  So far, so good.  It's been about eight visits, and I really like Dr. Dickey's bed side manner.  He has been able to help Ramsay with his back flare ups and all the usual stuff we need (vaccinations, thyroid meds, flea meds, expressing anal glands, etc.)  The only reason this is a three star review is because the office environment doesn't seem pet friendly, and I don't get the same good vibes from the staff that I get from Dr. Dickey.  The walls are white and bare with the exception of a leash/collar display.  No tv, no bulletin boards, no music, no water dish, no office cat or dog, and no cookie jar (much to Charlie's dismay).  And they also lack computer technology--receipts and vaccination records are handwritten.  Medical charts are kept in paper files.  Oh well, I guess we got spoiled at our last place.  For now it's important to have a regular vet, so we will likely stay here for awhile. Let me first start with saying the doctors here are all very nice and caring towards our dogs.  Dr. Dicky especially seems very down to earth.  However I always felt they were a little on the pricey side.  My dog had a fatty tumor that needed to be removed.  Dr. H. looked at him about a year ago and gave me a quote of approx. $300.  He even told me he was going to write it in my chart for reference later.  A year later we decided to get the tumor removed.  It has a grown a little since the first exam, so I thought the price might go up a little. I scheduled the surgery and the day before I called to confirm the appt and pricing.  I was SHOCKED. All of a sudden they couldnt locate the reference of the pricing in my chart and now the new pricing was $500 to $750.  Sad to confirm they are WAY over priced. But this experience led me to find a GREAT new doctor (PetTime in Upland), that charged me only $350 for the removal and we really liked the doctor.  PS -  when I questioned the pricing and told them of the price Dr. H originally quoted me, sadly they offered nothing to remedy this; it was an "oh well that's the price, take it or leave it" attitude. Dr. Dickey is SUCH a friendly man with a good heart; he doesn't just do his job, he gets to know the people and pets he is interacting with and that is priceless. A few years ago, we unfortunately had to put our giant Schnauzer, Midnight, to sleep and the staff was completely patient with my mom and I who were complete messes. Dr. Dickey came out to our car and carried our giant dog in, was so gentle with him, and allowed us as much time as we wanted after Midnight passed. Today, I took my almost four year old Yorkie for his shots and a checkup; he didn't even cry during his shot ! I was so surprised. The doctor commented that Gizmo had a pretty boring file which made me laugh but I know it's a good thing because he is healthy ! :)You can definitely trust that your pets - who are a part of our families - are in good and loving hands at this vet. Dr Heisy (sp?) is absolutely the BEST! Everyone in this office is so wonderful and caring. Dr Heisy is thorough, and kind and took such wonderful care of our Golden retriever. All of my past experiences with other vet offices have left me feeling as if it was just a racket to see how much money they could milk out of you, with no real care or concern for your pet. The opposite is true if this office. While they are not the cheapest vet around I'm sure (which would concern me too!) they are conservative in their treatments and try to find the best possible treatment without charging an arm & a leg. As it turned out for us, our dog did end up needing surgery, and even though it was expensive, it truly was not out of line for what they did. Her care was excellent and I'm happy to say she's doing even better than before!I would not hesitate to recommend this office to anyone looking for a reliable, caring and trustworthy veterinarian to treat their pet. If only my doctor treated me as well as Dr. Culley treats my 14 y/o Jack Russell terrier. If you have a JRT then you know that you have to approach them in a certain manner. Dr. Culley just knows how to approach ANY animal in a way that puts that animal at ease. He is the "Vet Whisperer". On a recent weekend I noticed that my dog "Jackie" (yeah I know how original) had a bump just below her left eye. Monday morning the bump was somewhat larger so I called Dr. Culley's office. The gal who answered said they were booked solid til after Christmas but after I explained my situation she said they could squeeze her in at 8:30 AM the next day (Dec 24) but if she was in pain to bring her in right away. No apparent pain so we went in the next morning and Dr. Heise (who we had not seen before, but also an excellent vet) checked her out and amazingly Jackie just totally trusted him as he examined her teeth. Then Dr. Culley (who had been with another patient and has seen Jackie before) poked his head in to say hi and see how Jackie was and my dog totally did the "happy bark" when she saw him!  It was quite amusing, they were like two old friends who hadn't seen each other in a while. Dr. Culley scheduled the extraction for Dec 27 and we were given some antibiotics and another med for pain and swelling. One of the veterinary techs went over what procedures needed to be done and gave me a written estimate (which was half of what I thought it was going to cost). From my past experiences at Mountain View Vet Hospital I know that Jackie and I are indeed fortunate to have found a great vet and clinic in Dr. Culley and the rest of the MVVH staff. Read Less

I bet the people who rate this place 5 stars work there. No way this place can have a 5 Star rating..You come in and the place looks spacious but dirty. The floors full of hair and the couch smelled like urine. The ladies on the front were nice (of course for them I am their paycheck) but they were busy taking pictures in their phones and laughing loud. Very unprofessional. If my nurse would have these much time in her hands, I would let her go for sure. I don't even want to think what's going on in the back. Not my business, not my payroll, no problem there. We see the vet. Looked like a cool guy, he was young like me. Basically I just wanted an ear flush, and to introduce my dog to our new vet. Boy oh boy was I wrong. I know what my dog has, I JUST WANT an ear cleaning since I can't do it and I do have all the drugs for my dog (my mother owns a pharmacy). He still did what he wanted to do and had the courage to charged me for something I didn't want to. Laboratory test, $30 to find that my dog has Yeast infection and some "other" bacteria lol I almost laughed when he told me that. Yes I know, I just told you 8 minutes ago that I know what my dog has, I just want an ear cleaning. The nurse gave me the medicines and I can tell right way they are over priced. Cipro where I can find it way cheaper I was charged $19, and of course his " special medicine mix" $28 where you can find it for less than $10. I din't ask for the medicines, I told him I have Otomax, Prednisone and plenty of antibiotics too. Honestly didn't want to give the ladies in the front a hard time.I get the bill, $187, felt I was robed in daylight, with a smile and a handshake  Come again $$$$...Most likely they charge crazy amount of money to other people too. It's sickening. I understand everyone wants to make money now days but "pinching" money in daylight by a vet, like a car sales man is outrages. I kept my cool all the time and even though you feel like a number, like a chop shop...Money making machine that preys on people and their wallet.Asked the front lady if I could give her an honest advice, by separating every prescription by price and number so the people can understand what's being charged. She gave me a funny look, like I was dumb to ask to know how much every prescription was and started to right them down for me. I didn't meet Dr. Dickey but its ok; I am not fond of his place anyway, which is pretty sad, I was so happy to go there and introduce my dog to his new vet. Since I am new to Upland I will ask around. Am I going to come here again? NO THANK YOU. Read Less

This business is not very organized, and it seems that the follow up on its patients is basically a none caring attitude. I called more than once after visiting this clinic with my dog who had a skin infection and an ear infection. I was given medication after a very brief visit in the room by someone. I did not know if he was the veterinarian or not. I paid over 150.00 dollars for the visit and the medication. Again the visit did not take more than five minutes and cost over half of the bill. After treating my dog with the medications according to the instructions. Things looked good until a week after the medication ran out, all the symptoms came back and even stronger. I called the clinic requesting a solution or another dose of the medication, maybe stronger or longer time. The girl who answered the phone instantly said that I should bring my dog back in. I said to her that my address did make it so that the trip back would take over an hour, and since i worked a demanding job and I live alone isn't there a way to avoid the visit and just prescribe the medication according to what the veterinarian would think best. She said she would talk to him and then call me back. I waited....waited....more than a week now..nothing....it seems that if one does not pay for the repeated visits that they don't get any service and or caring for their pets. It seems that for a problem with your pet, plan on going more than once or twice and paying ...and paying....maybe this will be the time, no not this time, maybe next time/...OK here is a check, maybe this time,,so on and so on..meanwhile the veterinarian is in the same category of a human medical doctor financially....hey maybe they lost the file!...i am sure that they will say sorry..right , how many times have you heard that from incompetent businesses .. We had to put our dog down after repeated visits to this vet did nothing for her skin condition.

He is always very thourough with his examinations and really takes the time to make sure all of my questions and concerns are addressed. Recently i had to seek emergency care for my baby over the weekend and Dr. Culley and his staff were there to follow up and guide me through this scary time.

Brunette. They said they lost all of my dogs records!!! I have spent hundreds of dollars on my dog there over the last couple of years. Now, when I needed to get my dogs prescription filled online, due to a recent move, they tell me they have NO record of us ever taking our dog there... The woman I spoke to on the phone was not only unapologetic, she acted as if I were imagining that I ever even took my dog there in the first place (although, they are still on speed dial on my phone).... It is not the first time the front desk has been rude, unhelpful and uncaring... The front desk must think they are the only vet in the area. Beware, poor customer service ahead! Read Less

Dr. Heise was so loving and kind to us. He knew how much we loved her and he made it as easy as possible for us to get through saying good-bye. A few days later we received the most touching sympathy card, signed by all the doctors and staff. If you are looking for a wonderful Vet, Dr. Heise is the BEST! I love this veterinary office ! The staff is very friendly and it is obvious that they enjoy their jobs. I won't ever go anywhere else. Read Less
