I have been taking my pets to Oak Animal Hospital and couldn't be happier. Every doctor we see is patient, kind, compassionate and most of all very skilled. They know more about medicine and animals than any vet or person I have ever seen. They are know the best most up to date treatment. Most recently, our Dachshund's back nearly went out. We didn't know what was wrong with our old girl but knew she was hurting. We brought her in Saturday morning not know what was wrong or how bad this was. Dr Murray looked at her, took some xrays and let us know what was wring. Because she is old (10+ years) he could have run lots of expensive test and I am sure found SOMETHING else wrong, but he explained her problem (she's a little tubby), stressed the importance of making sure she rests for two weeks and loses weight. She is up and on squirrel patrol like nothing was wrong. We got out with xrays and pain meds so it didn't break us. We love that the vets give us the options, the alternatives and honesty. They tell us what they would do if it were their pet and it isn't always to get the most expensive care but it is always about the quality of life for our pet. Our 21 year old cat was good until the end, but when it was time to let him go, Dr Anderson was patient, kind, understanding and gentle. The vets take care of the people as much as the animals. I wouldn't trust anyone else with our sweet babies. Read Less

My wife and I had made the decision that the moment had come to relieve our precious Cinnamon of her pain. Needless to say it was a very painful moment for us. We called our normal pet "hospital" but felt that we did not want to take her there. We live close to Oak Animal Hospital so we called there and they got us in in good time. We are so thankful that we went there. They did not know us. We were not their customers (although now we wish that we were.) Yet, they treated us with tremendous respect and honor. The whole staff was considerate of us and felt our pain with us. The grace by which they helped us in our most trying moment was comforting to us. The doctor reassured us, after a conversation that was sensitive and kind, that we were making the right decision, of which we were questioning. We had plenty of time just to be with Cinnamon before and during the process. It was not just a procedure to them. We weren't hurried or rushed. We were touched and thankful for such a skilled staff that empathized with us and yet were as professional and thorough as you would want. We simply want to say thank you. We've been taking pets to Dr. Murray and the Oak Animal Staff for 19 years.  I understand that Dr. Murray is less involved with the practice now than the early days but it is still delightful to know he regularly attends and does surgery and routine visits.  Last week I brought what I thought was a relatively healthy cat in because she just wasn't herself knowing the staff would understand.  Our pets are not just animals; they are part of the family.  Dr. Murray examined the cat throughly and, without expensive tests, was able to diagnose a chronic neurological problem that would have meant repeated surgeries, medication for life and possibly a fatal result even had we attempted to spend $$$.  We took the cat home so everyone could say goodbye and made a "last" appointment for the next day.  The staff was very caring and Dr. Anderson administered the final injection with my children present in a very kind and caring procedure.  Several days ago, we received a touching card in the mail with our cat's paw prints preserved.  In our grief, we had not consider this simple remembrance and are deeply grateful Oak Animal Hospital did. We will treasure it as we mourn our pet. You will not find a more caring and committed team than at this facility in all of Vacaville.  They considered the needs of my pet, our financial needs as well as the emotional needs of my children.  My furry family members are in trusted hands and yours would be too.  They will take good care of your kittens and puppies until they are grown, see them through shots and accidents, and be there if your fur baby needs end of life care.  If only they would live as long as we do, those soft fur balls. My story begins 20+ years ago. We had just moved to Vacaville when our blue point Siamese cat became ill. I took him to a vet who only wanted money with out any concern for the owner. I was a young mother and our family had just bought our first home, money was tight but my pet needed help not just "lets do these tests for XYZ and everything else" so I asked around for the best vet and was told Dr. Murray was the best and sure enough he was he saved my cat. From that time he has seen many of our pets, for routine care to the last minutes of our family dog. Now comes the rub, we didn't see him for some time as we did not have any pets. My son had a very ranbuncious Staphy bull terrier who found himself with a broken lower jaw, Dr Murrays office fixed him up just dandy. Please note the word office as it seems Dr Murray was busy. No problem the vet was very good. however about a year later our dog was acting very strange so we had him looked at the office again (Dr Murray was busy) the dog was sent home with no diagnosis. Sad to say he died the next day. I called to tell them he had passed and if maybe with this news they could think of any reason, the vet from the day before called us back and was shocked, and sorry. A year later my son had 2 puppies who after saving from the the solano shelter came down with parvo. He took them to Dr. Murray who was busy again. My son could not afford the $4500 bill so was forced to take care of his puppies at home they both recovered and am happy to say alive today. Now to the point when the discussion between my son (27) got heated as to his ability to care for his dogs he stated he wasn't to sure why he was even bringing his dogs there because of the previous event,so the management took it upon themselves to flag MY account, not my sons and not give me service any longer!I did not know this as I had no reason to. I now have a new puppy and called to start her shots only to be told I accused (when we finally got the story right, manager had her facts confused) the office of killing our dog! I never did that. My son still brought his new dogs for care. Is this a case of CYA for fear there was wrong doing in the death of our staphy?? I will never recommend this office or Dr. Murray and especially the office staff to any one again. This is to bad as I was a very big champion. Do not go to Oak Animal Hospital. Read Less

Okay, I will admit that the office is clean and the staff is nice but that's where the good news ends. For true pet lovers price should not be the main concern in picking a high quality vet, but you have to admit that it does factor in somewhere. Oak Animal Hospital has outrageous prices! Regardless of the cost, the main complaint is the fact that they have four vets treating the animals. On the surface that seems like a good business practice since they should always have room for your pet. The reality is that it is extremely frustrating never seeing the same vet twice. Back in August our dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis. The first vet (at Oak) said she was 95% sure it was NOT pancreatitis. Then the tests came back and a different vet (at Oak) said it definitely was an inflamed pancreas. Well our little girl was treated and recovered. About two weeks ago she had similar symptoms. We took her back and yet another vet (at Oak) looked at her chart, did a couple tests, and diagnosed her with pancreatitis. After a week of constant throwing up we had to go back in and was seen by, yes you guessed it, a different vet (at Oak). She wanted to continue treating the pancreatitis. I had finally had enough of being bounced around and paying through the nose for treatment that wasn't working, so I went to Vaca Valley Veterinary Hospital. There Dr. Jassar personally observed her for a couple of days and felt that the pancreatitis was a secondary condition. He performed surgery and found two blockages in her stomach and small intestine. He removed the blockages and basically saved her life. If I had continued at Oak Animal Hospital I firmly believe I would not have my precious puppy at home right now. Having four different vets trying to treat an animal simply doesn't work. I implore anyone trying to choose a veterinary hospital to stay away from Oak Animal Hospital. Give Vaca Valley Veterinary Hospital a try, Dr. Jassar might just save the life of your pet. Read Less

We have a new puppy and I've made the switch over to Oak.  I love this vet!  We've been seeing Dr. Anderson and we've been here twice.  Both times, she has been perfect.  Patient, listens to everything I have to say and never rushes us.  Always asks the right questions to make sure she understands what we are going through and is very thorough.  I usually have a lot of (stupid) questions but she is so great to answer them and not let me feel like a tool. I'm happy that we've found this vet and look forward to a long and happy relationship with them.  Toby (our dog) sure does like this place. Read Less

I have a 2 1/2 year old english bulldog.  He was having difficulty breathing.  I rushed him over to Oak Animal Hospital.  They immediatly took him in and began working on him.  Their sense of urgency and knowledge of all the staff saved my dogs life.  We will always be grateful to them.  My dog is doing fine.  Dr. Anderson takes care of his skin allergies.  Thank you to Dr. Reid, Dr. Anderson and all the staff at Oak Animal Hospital.  You are the best!!!!!!! Read Less

Recieved great treatment. I am a person who wants the best care for my pets. This faciltiy is clean, the staff is caring and the doctors are very well educated and experienced. The practice is geared to those who want the best treatments availible but also realize that top care can at times be costly. Those looking for a ""Macy's"" level of care at ""Walmart"" prices may not be pleased. If you want the best I highly recomend.

Read Less
