My regular Vet is in Sacramento, 75 minutes away. When I need local care, I go to Redwood Vet Clinic.Redwood Vet is my choice for odd hours. They are open on Sunday and it is relatively easy to get an appointment. I have referred several friends to this vet, and they have become regular clients there. The staff at Redwood Vet are very clear on explaining what they are going to do, and what the cost will be. There are several vets there, so if your favorite isn't there, you can still be assured that your dog will be taken care of. Read Less

Our two Akitas have always worn down their nails running on our patio, now that we have had the patio redone with a smooth finish, they both needed their nails clipped. Maggie is delightful, but still doesn't like her feet touched so she is a little challenge, Bear is fearful of everything at the vet's office so he is a huge challenge. I have recently begun going to Redwood Veterinary hospital and have been very happy with their care. I have struggled to find a vet that I was comfortable with ever since moving to CA two years ago, but I have now found our vet! The care my dog has received has been thorough, competent, and compassionate. All of our needs have been addressed and proper care taken without trying to add on a bunch of unnecessary tests or services. I appreciate the comprehensive exam my dog gets on every visit, he doesn’t just get a once over, they check him out completely. I have had to take my dog in several times over the last couple of weeks for an ongoing issue and I have always been able to get timely appointments. I would highly recommend Redwood Veterinary hospital. They have also been recommended to me by two different vet specialists in the area, which speaks very highly of their care and ability. The only thing I think new patients should be aware of is their waiting room is very small. It is divided between a canine and a feline side, which is nice, but it makes it a tight squeeze if you have more than one or two owners and dogs waiting. Read Less

I moved to Vallejo in 2012, and I was very worried about finding a new Veterinarian, as I'd been at my previous Vet for over a decade. My dogs have always been a very important part of my life and family, and I only want the very best for them. One of my older dogs had a mysterious condition that previously had other Veterinarians stumped....they sent me to specialists all over Northern California, and I couldn't find anyone who could diagnose her problem. I ended up taking her to acupuncture just to help with the pain, and so I could feel like I was doing something. So you can imagine my relief and amazement when I found Redwood Veterinary Hospital, and Dr. Huebner was able to discover Ginger's gall bladder problem and prescribe the medicine to help her! Needless to say I am a huge fan of Redwood Veterinarian Hospital! Since then I have been loyally coming here with my furry family, and I have gotten to know the staff and all the doctors and I trust them all completely. I like that they all seem to work together well and each has their expertise. I find the entire staff to be warm and friendly, and I have to say that they have been there for me during some of the hardest decisions lately.... I just can't express how grateful I am to know that they are there for all of my dog - related issues, no matter how big or small. They really went above and beyond. This place is fantastic! It's open on Saturdays and all the doctors and tech's are great. The ladies at the front desk are super nice and they always try to get you in asap if you have a problem with your baby. I have a lot of pets and I trust them with all of them. Redwood veterinary is a wonderful veterinary service option. They are very thorough in the exam n tell you the cost if it's more than a regular checkup. This is really great n you'll never be hit with a sticker shock The staff is very friendly and this is the first experience I've had where the cats go in one door and the dogs in the other. Poor sick kitty, Miss Cream Puff. It was the Friday afternoon before Christmas. I was late to my appointment because traffic was backed up so badly. It was my first time going to Redwood because my old vet in Benicia sold her practice. I wanted Miss Cream Puff treated instead of suffering until Monday or Tuesday after Christmas. They took her anyway. Treatment was prompt and efficient. We were treated well. I had visited another vet with the problem only two days before. The first vet's diagnosis (of food allergy) resulted in Miss Cream Puff getting worse, although I changed her diet. But Dr. Breeden did the right tests, put her on an antibiotic, and she was better by Christmas. On Monday I got the test results - blood and crystals in urine, probably cystitis, along with options of how to treat her. It is not the diagnosis I wanted, but it is accurate and the cat is doing well. Read Less

I've had the most experience with Dr. Fox and Dr. Huebner, but have seen other great doctors as well. They are knowledgeable, kind, and empathetic. The Doctors and Staff are all so well suited to lovingly and efficiently care for all of my pets. I wish my pediatrician had been as knowledgable and caring as everyone here at Redwood. I have been with Redwood Veterinary for many, many years. I have found their doctors and staff to be professional, warm and courteous. They have always been sensitive when I was faced with a decision to put my dog down and they remained by my side through this ordeal. I don't forget the things they have done for me. When my dogs died, they made the arrangements to have my dogs cremated. All in all, they made sad things just a little bit more comforting for me. Not all of it was sad, of course. This hospital lacks true compassion for animals and is forever trying to make money off vulnerable pet owners. Tried talking my poor mom into extensive testing for her 13 y.o dog. I'm in the vet field and the way she was treated here was ridiculous. I live too far away for her to bring the dog to my hospital and this is the closest to her house. Their Rx policy is WRONG. It is also 100% illegal to not provide a written Rx when requested by an owner who wants to shop around. It makes me sad that all these people trust in them when they really are just all about the money. The staff didn't even read the chart or instructions on the Rx and advised my poor mom to put ear drops in the eyes. Luckily my mother is not dumb and knee her dog had an ear infection but still.. It doesn't take more than 5 seconds to glance at a chart or read instructions on a bottle. Ear drops wouldn't do damage if applied to the eyes but what if it was something more serious? Overall competent vets and good service, but, overcharge, order unnecessary tests, will not give you rx's to purchase online for cheaper medication. One of the vets was quite rude on the phone during a follow-up call after I asked why we need to repeat labs for a UTI that was treated and resolved without symptoms. When one of my pups was sick we received no help from our long time vet ... So we moved all of our pets (4 dogs 1 cat) to Redwood.. It was the best decision we ever made. Dr. Rodgers is simply wonderful and is so very caring. She answered all my questions and was very patient with me as my dog was about to go through serious surgery. The administrative staff are great too! The visits are a little pricey compared to my last vet office but I still wouldn't go back and it is worth every penny! Read Less

After a chronic kidney disease diagnosis by Dr Hu, I was told to feed my cat prescription kidney diet food. As an informed consumer I found that Drs Foster and Smith, a well known, reputable, VET-VIIPS accredited pharmacy carries the same food prescribed (and sold) by Redwood - at a fair price. DFS will contact your vet to obtain the Rx, which they did. Redwood refused to give them the Rx to fill. Redwood's policy is to make it ridiculously difficult to purchase a Rx from anyone other than them. With me on the phone, they refused to fax the Rx they had in hand to the pharmacy, and insisted that I come pick it up and mail it myself (since pharmacies only accept fax Rx from the doctor). This makes the processing time weeks.They do not care if your pet is suffering - in fact it's your fault for being cheap; shame on you greedy Redwood for pushing people to use your dispensary. I also picked up both of our pet's medical records with that last Rx, because it is important to us to have an ethical vet that at least pretends to care about the patient more than the money. Too bad, we've been going for years - this is surprising and shameful. Read Less

This is a great Vet service! I have been coming here since 1998 when they diagnosed my golden retriever K.D. with heart worms when she was 12. She had been misdiagnosed by another vet service. The treatment they gave her allowed her to live another 4 wonderful years! Since then, they have taken care of Nellie, Bleu, Sonja; and currently, Opie and Buddy are in great health because of them!
