We have been using this vet for at least 10 years. The office is very clean and easily accessible for those in Valley Center. Staff is world class and very friendly. Both Dr. Hofler and Dr. Nichols are amazing.  They truly care about pets and listen to the human concerns too.  All of the techs are friendly and extreme animal lovers as well.  They have done an amazing dog with my dog, Ocean, who passed in February (BTW they do home visits too!) and with our current dog Isla who has had multiple masses.  They give great advice and are non-judgmental when I express my concerns, wants and decisions. To high of an overhead, too many employees. Which is why they are so damn good at charging you lots and lots as you watch your animal suffer. I've taken my animals here for years and never again. After hearing phrases like, "oh yeah when a cat breaks a bone you stick the bones in a bag they'll grow because they're awesome at healing and then forking out $250+ every two weeks for xrays..for it to take 5 months....yeah that's spot on logic. Calling them and asking for a last minute booking because your best friend is not doing so good for them to say no were booked, make an appointment and hey have you ever heard of 24 hour emergency. Yea, I have. Well it's called 24 hour emergency because they are open 24 hours. Duh.  Leticia is not meant for customer service, she sounds nice with her fake hospitality voice which actually fades after about 20 seconds of speaking to her. And seriously... What gives people a right to tell me my animals are getting fat when they can't control what they put in their mouths by the looks of it.  What is it about being a vet/vet receptionist/vet tech that turns you into a greedy, cold, apathetic asshole? Didn't you apply yourself yo this industry because you started out wanting to help animals?  You know these are our companions, our loved ones, our best friends and it's just heartless to know that they don't care. They just have knoweldge. My animals care costs more than my own bad ass human health care. the people that country Spa are great my dog enjoys going there I would just like to see pictures of him on the web camera which has not been fixed in three months .since my dog goes there 5 days a week and I kind of support the place I would really like to see my dog besides pictures of that but the employees have taken to show me . Excellent, just excellent. I recently moved to the area and needed to find a vet. Now, I've dealt with many vets over the years, and I've got to say, Dr. Hofler is right up there with the best of the best. She is competent and her true love of  animals shows. We have been taking our pets to Countryside for many years now and have always received top notch service. We recently had to board our cats for 10 days at their facility. We moved to Valley Center about a year ago. Countryside Veterinary Hospital treated us with respect and like family the first time we walked in their door. We have seen each of the three doctors and all are extremely knowledgeable and spent the time with us to make sure we understand everything they are doing and what you should expect. When we needed to make an appointment for the same day, they always somehow fit us in. We have had dogs and cats for more than 30 years, and have had many veterinarians, but this is truly the best and friendliest one we have ever had. Countryside is a absolute keeper. Read Less

We have used Countryside to care for our dogs for years. When my job relocated us to the Bay Area for a few years, it was evident how lucky we were to have had Dr. Sherman, and we were thrilled to come back this year and find the practice just as great as before. Dr. Sherman is the best small animal veterinarian we have had in V.C. for a long time. I have lived here 35 years and have seen quite a few. He takes the time to listen to your concerns, doesn't over-react and doesn't try to push you into unnecessary procedures. Dr. Hofler and her staff are incredible.  They are personable, professional, and attentive. From the moment we walked in the door I was impressed with the cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere.  We took our 10 year old Boxer Tia in to the office to try to figure out why she was sick and vomiting.  We had been at an animal ER all night that had not been able to diagnose Tia, but within 15 minutes of Dr. Hofler examining Tia, she had come up with a plan of attack to find the problem, within the hour, she had nailed down a diagnosis. She was confident and gave clear direction, which is what I really liked about her. She never once made us feel rushed, even though she was squeezing us in for an appointment. Thanks to her our girl is doing amazing, and didn't need any "exploratory Surgery" like previous ER doctor had claimed. All my experiences at Countryside with Dr. Hofler and most recently Dr. Nichols, have the best vet experience I have ever had with my dog and cat.  I live in Escondido, but choose to drive to Valley Center because of the top notch care received there.  I have never felt they were trying to rip me off with their estimates or suggested procedures and treatments contrary to experiences at other clinics.  Dr. Hofler was the only vet that diagnosed my dog's problem correctly.  Most recently and heartbreaking, our kitty was attacked by 2 dogs.  Staff met me immediately as I entered the office, after I called them and let them know I was on my way to the office.  They were waiting to take my kitty back to Dr. Nichols for exam, and took her from my arms as I entered the door.  I had never met Dr. Nichols, but the care, concern, treatment and honest discussions about our dear Shooz's chance for recovery was so professional, caring and appreciated.  She called me several times a day with updates.  The estimates given were very helpful and spot on.  I just have the highest regard for the care Dr. Nichols and staff gave Shooz. Never Ever Again!!! Front desk extremely rude, condescending,and unprofessional. Brought two Cats in at the same time with separate illnesses. Had a very poor overall experience. Was recommended to do a procedure (ultrasound for fluid extraction)and was told if she was unable to extract any fluid to confirm her diagnosis,then I would not be charged for that portion, as that would mean I had to go to VSH emergency room. An hour after the ultrasound I kept asking for my cat back as I had to get him up to VSH emergency hospital before 5p if I was going to be able to get a ultrasound done, otherwise I would have to wait till the next day and it was an emergency and needed to be done that day.The front desk seemed extremely Un concerned and continued to make excuses why I could not get him, The doctor was busy, the doctor didn't fill out his paperwork yet, the dr needed to call vsh, she had another appt. etc,.I kept asking if I could pay ahead of time to expedite the check out,even for the one cat I had already checked out and brought back home, they refused. Finally at 4:45p, I got very upset and said give me my cat now this could be a life and death emergency and I need to get him to the ER hospital,they then finally reluctantly released him and Took their time to charge me out, $800 and of course I was still charged for the procedure I was told I would not be charged for, ugh!  Days later I called two separate times asking for my individual receipts for insurance purposes, and because they lumped both cats on one page with A euthanasia report of another animal on the back of my receipt which was an extremely poor way to recycle,Front desk said she would send it within the hour. Which never happened. When I called back again to ask if she had a chance to send it, she snapped at me and said she would when she had time. Which was obviously never. Read Less

Having moved to the area, she is the only vet I will entrust with my animals. Her knowledge regarding USDA laws, import and export, as well as nutrition have been an invaluable resource. Each time we talk, we truly have a genuine discussion. We had to euthanize our sweet German Shepherd yesterday, and she and a Vet tech met is at our car for her comfort, and compassionately helped her out of her suffering and into doggie heaven. She offers laser therapy and is up on all the latest technology with regards to animal care. I had to put me dog to sleep.  He was a beautiful sweet miniature pincer but because of abuse he had experienced 6 years ago before I rescued him he had what is called fear aggression.  For most of those 6 years I lived alone and was able to keep him safe and to keep others safe.  Now I have to live with family and I could not keep others safe.  I came to a heart breaking decision that I would have to put him down.  He was my boy and I loved him with all my heart.  I called Countryside and told them what I had to do.  They went over options with me and we realized it was my only option.  The day I arrived I was crying my heart out.  There were a lot of people there because of a shot clinic, but they came outside and helped me get past everyone and into a room right away.  She told me that she had explained everything to the vet and technician and they would take care of everything,  The tech helped me hold Cooper while she was hugging me.  Nothing can take away the pain of having to do what I had to do ... but their helpfulness and kindness made it almost bearable.  I am so thankful for the way they handled everything.  I received a card a few days later with words of comfort from everyone who works there.  I am so grateful to them and they will be taking care of all my pet needs from here on out.Penny OValley Center, CA Read Less

Dr. Sherman is great, he really works with you and is very on point. He did such a great job with my Newfoundlands entropion surgery, I couldn't imagine it done any better. As compared to a previous vet I went to in valley center, countryside didn't beat around the bush about what the issue was with my dog. At a previous place I was given the run around and told to come back numerous times with no change in diagnosis and no progress in results for my dogs issue. We then decided to go to Countryside Vet in VC where they were so welcoming and they took our sick dog right in! Dr. Hoffler and the staff are great.  They've been taking care of our 5 (!) Labradors for years now.  They have also been our go to place for puppy exams when we've had new litters.  I've heard that they are the place to go if you lose your dog or cat as strays often wind up at their location.  Our family highly recommends them.
