I want to thank each and everyone of you, from the time I walked through the door. You were all so welcoming, and kind. I felt very supportive and at ease. I can’t recall the last time and if at all, that’s occurred for me during a visit to the vet. Dr. Hu, is very sweet and I felt I could fully trust her. Loved that it's female driven, and the fact that two different Doctor's contacted me to make sure everything was going okay with my doggie. Dr. Heim was just amazing and took the time to answer my questions and gave me a written quote on the spot. This is the best Vet I’ve been to this year, but.....the staff sucks and could use some more training in empathy and compassion (something most males don't have). They were just horrible! Brought my cat here a while ago and forgot to post a review.... so 4 months ago my cat got sick and I brought him in to get a check up. The vet advised me to start changing his diet, let him play outside more and provide him a necessary supplement called zinc. He then went on about educating me about cats. So I just got a puppy, it's my first dog ever so I had to venture out to find the perfect vet. There was a place right near my house but they didn't have any same day appointments so I called this place and they booked me for the same day! That was pretty awesome. I got there and filled out the papers and didn't wait long to be called in for the check up. They told me they had to do some tests and everything and I was like ok cool I wanna make sure everything is fine with my puppy so let's see what's up. But before they did anything I wanted to know the prices. They brought out the paper of everything he needed and it was like $200. Now I know there are good places that are cheaper so I paid for the exam fee ($27 and that was half off) and I found a same day appointment for Banfield. They did exams, gave him a vaccine and I paid HALF of what this place was telling me to pay. The staff might be nice and all but this place pretty pricey. Read Less

The staff here is great! I was looking for an appointment but they were all booked, I was however encouraged to come in as a walk in, which was nice of them because none of the other vets were ok with that. They took her in, and were so patient, and kind with her. They heard me out, and walked me trough what they thought was necessary, and then through what she might need. It didn't feel like they were sales people, just caring veterinarians. I felt like they really cared to solved the issue, I walked out of there feeling like I made the best choice bringing here. We just moved here from the Midwest and we were looking for a friendly vet like we had back home for our two cats. We definitely came to the right place. All of the staff was friendly and the vet took her time and didn't seem to rush us at all. The facility was clean and well maintained. We had Dr. Osmundson as our vet and she was fantastic. Msg me and my Dr Google skills will save you 500 bucks or I owe your dad a bj.   Jk.    Thanks for following up on my cats hyperthyeoid or improperly quoting services or giving a diff vet to consult regarding same animal , each diff day-- maybe for emergency services but if you need follow-up or anyone to give half a fawk- then id probably do a better job than ..them.  even the chart was written weird. We Love this place! Im so sad we recently moved too far to take our furkids here for routine things anymore.I wish they had a location near us. Been having a hard time trying to fill the big shoes of Best Friends & Dr Kirszenbaum. Ive had many pets through the years & many different veterinarians but Dr K is by far our favorite and we truly miss her and her loving care with us. You cant teach this kind of caring. Really great animal hospital. I just moved from NYC and needed a new vet. My cat started over grooming and I couldn't figure out why. The vet was super sweet and funny. I liked her a lot. When I called they were able to give me an appointment for the next day. The prices are reasonable, although coming from NYC where vets charge an arm and a leg, it's hard for me to compare local vets. The doctor called me the next morning herself to give me the results of her blood work and recommended a treatment plan. I'll definitely be using them for all my pets' needs in the future! Read Less

Just adopted a Goldendoodle a few months ago and had no idea where to go when she suddenly got an ear infection. Found this place after only a quick google and was so surprised to see the number of positive reviews they had on Yelp and on Google.Making an appointment was so easy. The website was down when I tried to book online, but when I called their receptionists were so friendly and they asked a lot of questions about my dog when I was making the appointment.Once at the office, vet-techs were all very friendly and made sure to keep me informed every step of the process. Dr. Heim was also AMAZING. Friendly, informative, wonderful with my dog, and listened to my various worries about my new pup. She is currently helping me to find the mysterious cause to my girl's constant itching and walked me through all the things I can change to help soothe her irritated skin. I even got a follow up phone call from her the day after my appointment just to check and see how we were doing. This is better service than I've received from most human doctors.The location is also right near a drive thru Starbucks with a Dog-friendly patio so you and your doggo can go get a "puppuccino" and unwind after your appointment. Came here after looking at reviews. I am very satisfied with my visit. The dr looked at my stray kitten that was missing an eye and got it antibiotics and a FIV combo test. Even gave me a free bag of kitten food! Thank you so much! I came in as a walk in and was seen within 30 mins. The homemade cookies and coffee was really nice to have while waiting! Also the waiting room didn't smell like animals, which is always a plus. Definitely coming back as my go to vet for my kitties. Thank you! Read Less

I honestly do not like leaving reviews about places but this facility had got to the point where I needed to let people know. This place will try to charge you for the most pointless things. I took my dog in for shots then they told me I needed to come back for his other shots and a FREE evaluation. I came back and they did his re-evaluation. But I told the doctor to check out my dogs eye due to his eye being red and all she did was look at his eye and tell me she needs to do an eye test with medicine and such which they wanted to charge me almost 60 dollars for just for the EYE examination. The nurse brought me the paperwork and they wanted to charge me almost 40 dollars for the re-evaluation after they told me it was FREE. Then when I consulted with the nurse and told her it was suppose to be free she specifically told me she would talk to the doctor about it and that it should NOT be a problem. Right after that, they charged me for it. After consulting with the manager she told me I had signed it and they can't give me a refund or anything after the nurse specifically told me it wouldn't be a problem. The manager had even talked to the nurse that helped me and the nurse LIED to her and told her she never said anything about the payment.Medical director Dr. Heim later today got back to me. Being VERY rude and blunt. She had the audacity to tell me she has another patient waiting for her and that she needs to hurry up and explain to me the situation which I complained about. She told me because they took time to look at my dogs very small issue that they had to charge me for the examination which only took 10-15 minutes which over the phone she told me took over 30 minutes. She also told me that due to bringing up a minor "new" issue, that they had to charge me for it because of their "time" being taken up. (Which, let me remind you, was only 15 minutes)This place is also very fishy to me. They do the shots and everything in the back of their building which they do behind closed doors. I am starting to get the idea that this facility is not even giving the shots and what not to these pets. Every other vet I have been to do the shots and everything right in front of you. So I am starting to get a feeling they are just taking your money and not giving the care that these pets need. Don't let the fake friendly persona get to you. I advice everyone to stay away from this place. They are money hungry and very rude when an issue arises. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Brought our toy maltipoo here and absolutely loved how friendly they were. Same day appointment was available when I called. Once we got there it didn't take long for us to wait to see Vet. Huge rip off. This place is extremely financial driven, which is common for a business. However, they push unnecessary tests and extra follow-ups. Similar financial pushes occured to my sister, which pushed me to post my review. They wanted to test for ringworm. But common thing with ringworm is that it is highly contagious, but my dog has had skin issues for a year without spreading it to anyone or herself. Lastly, it was a skin protrusion not a rashlike feature.They were supposed to do a skin scrape on my dog's leg to test. Instead of scraping skin off of my dog's leg, they literally scratched skin off of my dog's face as a sample. They had the audacity to not even give me a 100% refund. Be mindful of your visit and if necessary consult a secondary opinion. Hopefully, it was just my visit. However, relatives have had similar experiences. Read Less

Took our new puppy here and their service was great! I called to ask for prices, and they gave me exactly what they could over the phone! Jennifer helped me with my phone call and she was very patient and answered everything I needed and booked me an appointment quickly and easily. The day of our appointment, we got in right on time when we were supposed to at 2:30 pm. They gave her shots that were needed and helped us with all the questions we had and also doubled checked on the prices before any procedure was done. The assistants who helped us were all friendly! Our total ended up becoming 75$, and we purchased a coupon through Groupon for 50$ for 75$! So it helped save us some money! I recently moved to North Hollywood area and decided to take my cat to Best Friends Animal Hospital based on the yelp reviews. I want to thank them for their great service and taking care of my boy with such great care. I have been to many other animal hospitals where they see the relationship like any other business instead of a patient who needs their attention. Another great thing was that I did not end up paying hundreds of dollars. I was open to try additional tests but they were spot on and did not recommend doing unnecessary tests and saved me money. Based on my past experience that goes the other way around where they offer all possible tests and you ask - does my cat really needs all this? I have nothing against the disabled, as long as they can do the job properly, but the Vet with one arm told me the kittens I found on the street were boy/ girl. 4 months later, I take them to get spayed with another company, (bc of course I'm freaking out they're gonna get jiggy with each other) only to find out that the girl was NEUTERED - NOT SPAYED!! The FREE clinic that did our surgeries were more practiced than this rip off of an office. Wonder why they have a Groupon.This is a very huge mistake. How can you peg one male and not the other? My puppy saw Dr. Heim and I'm so happy she's our vet! She was so gentle with my puppy and patiently answered all of my questions with a smile on her face. She didn't rush me as this is my first time being a "fur mommy". I'm so glad to have found Dr. Heim!!! Thank you for a great first visit! The front staff is also super nice!The puppy package is so reasonably priced in my opinion. I literally just stumbled upon Best Friends on my phone, after almost a year since our dog passed, but I thought people should know how amazing and caring the staff and vets at Best Friends are. They took care of our dog for more than 3 years and I was so much happier with them than anywhere else we took our dog. He lived to 17, so in the latter years he had a lot of issues, but the people at best friends took amazing care of him, from recurring UTIs to growths, they really cared and made his end of life more pleasant. I love this Vet office so much I come over the hill for my dog's appointments here.This is the only vet my dog has ever been to and they will be his vet for his entire life.Dr. Heim is always very attentive and reassuring. She's always happy to see Che and calms him down. She answers all my questions and listens when I relay updates about his health while offering helpful suggestions.Cost is reasonable and everyone who works here is pleasant and helpful.I highly recommend them! They have been my clinic/ hospital for my boxer Diesel since he was 10 weeks old{he will be 10 in May } We've always had excellent Dr.s and care here. Dr. Fountain and Heim and all the Dr.s we have seen so far have been amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend! Read Less

Took my miniature pincher here after became sick. He is usually aggressive with strangers but they took good care of him and made it easy for us. They did some tests and prescribed him some medication. It's been a week since the visit and he looks a lot better. I really felt like they cared about the well-being of my dog. We were looking everywhere for a place to get our poor kitty (who thinks he's a raccoon) some relief from a squabble & all the vets in Studio City seemed completely booked.Finally, we found Best Friends that seemed to have decent reviews & we were REALLY impressed going in. It's a beautiful, clean, & friendly place that's exceptionally friendly to both animals & humans. They even have free coffee/tea Keurig for customers & a couple of the admin staff bake cookies fresh everyday just to share the love. Wow!Their prices are reasonable & the environment is great with all animals. Staff are patient & prompt. My cousin, a vet tech, would absolutely love this place & be proud to work here. The walls are wooden, the atmosphere has a welcoming & partially holistic feel to it, although it's a traditional clinic. I would come here first before any of those places now. As friendly as they are expensive.I am new in NoHo and was looking for a Vet to do a teeth cleaning on my 7 years old pug. between Examination, blood work, Dental cleaning and the extraction of 5 teeth. I paid a total of  $1156.75 ! How is that normal ?! They are all super nice, really. And I'll keep going for any daily dog issue. But not for teeth cleaning cause I can't figure out how this is justified. Last year I did my dog's cleaning in a nice hospital in Vegas, where I was visiting friends and it costed me $109 during their September Dental Month. That price doesn't include pre blood work cause I already had a recent one, nor teeth extractions but even if you remove blood work, teeth extraction and post medication from Best Friends Animal Hospital's invoice, you get a total of $766.8. That is still a difference of $657.8 I cannot justify!So next time you have a teeth cleaning to do, treat yourself with a weekend in Vegas. I am almost not joking cause for the same price than what I paid here, you can have the job done, a nice room in a fancy hotel and maybe enough money left to get tickets for a show or pay yourself a diner in a great restaurant Read Less

We've had a couple visits now. I'm happy with Best Friends Animal in North Hollywood / Valley Village. The vets have been excellent. The techs are nice and highly skilled. And the office staff are very nice and good at what they do. The fees are reasonable. Had a bad experience at one chain office, Value Vet. We have taken our pets to Best Friends for over twelve years, and recommend this group very enthusiastically to anyone! We have always gotten an appointment when needed, and the vets always call the next day to follow up on the visit. The facilities are clean and well maintained, the staff knowledgeable, and the service excellent. We have had everything from kitten and puppy check-ups to surgeries to senior care for several of our beloved pets, and I cannot imagine trusting any other practice with them. Excellent care of my dog that's been sick for several months & previous vet couldn't get to the bottom of his problem. My only recommendation is to not take the dogs away for simple treatments (blood draw, etc.)- this was the only thing that bothered the person who recommended this office to me & I agree w/ her. In fact, I find this to be the single biggest dissatisfier amongst pet owners in general & it's NOT unique to this office. That being said everything else has been nothing shy of stellar. Easy to book an appointment including urgent ones. We have only seen Dr. Heim and she's great, clearly cares about your pets health. Both visits I've had I was given options for treatment & their associated costs. There was absolutely no "up selling" and I had no feeling of being pressured to do something that wasn't completely necessary (and I'm a Nurse making it relatively easy to spot this kind of practice). Dr. Heim called the day after each visit to check on Oscar. Front staff very nice/ accommodating. Can't complain other than I'd rather be able to comfort my dog when he's getting needled. We lost two of our precious little boys last year and BFAH could NOT have been more caring and compassionate about our huge loss. Dr. Heim provided the very best care imaginable for both of our little guys, Cubby and Lit'l Red, but their conditions were not something that could be cured, only cared for, and BFAH certainly did that. We still have our two little girls, Rosie and Winnie, and I would never take them anywhere else for care. BFAH and Dr. Heim and staff are the best there is. I have three dogs and usually bring them in at one time for their yearly check. What I love about BFAH is that they offer "clinic" times when I can get their shots and check-ups at half price. When you have three, that's a big help. They're very good about staying to their appointment times and I have never had to wait. With my busy schedule, it's a relief to know I can get in and out of there in the time promised. What I also love is that the doctors always call after an appointment or a procedure to see how my dogs are doing. They really show they care. Read Less

Absolutely terrible! I began bringing my dog here 3 years ago and Dr. Habib was wonderful! However, she has since sold the company and service has declined steadily. The straw that broke the camel's back? I called in early Dec to refill my pet's prescription. FIVE days later they left me a voicemail to tell me they couldn't fill it without a visit. Well, I was headed out of town by then, so I called them they day I returned and had my fiance bring the dog in for a new heartworm test, etc. After the entire appointment, they realize they do not have the medication in stock and promise my fiance it would be in by Friday and that they would call (it was a Tuesday). Come Monday, still no call. I call and speak to the office manager who tells me then medication cannot be prescribed until we bring the dog in for a heartworm test. Hello, McFly! I explain to her this was done a week ago and she then tells me the medication is backordered and they have no idea when it will arrive. I tell her that this is not acceptable and that she needs to come up with some sort of alternative. She gets flustered and tells me she is going to call me back when I ""calm down"" (never once raised my voice or cursed- I'm just an educated individual who chooses my words very carefully) and hangs up! I worked in customer service for a decade to get through school and NEVER ONCE hung up on a customer, no matter how much they cursed at me, etc. She calls me back later to recommend a similar medication that they can have in stock within 3 days. Um, why wasn't that done last week when they realized the other medication was backordered? Further, why wasn't I called on Friday to be made aware of the problem? Of course, they had no answers to these questions. By the time this medication comes in, it will be a month since I first attempted to refill it. When I pick up this new prescription, I will also be picking up my dog's file. From now on, I will be driving out to Northridge to see Dr. Habib! Read Less

My dog and I recently went to visit Best Friends and were very happy with the service we received there. The staff was very friendly. The place was very clean and didn't smell at all. Although we had to wait a while for Dr. Habib to see us, she took a lot of time ensuring that all of our questions were answered and asked quite a few of her own. The friendly vet tech did a speedy job (fecal sample, heartworm test, and removing stitches). Although no trip to the vet is cheap, we walked out feeling satisfied and healthy with our wallets still half full. Read Less

I took my dog to 2 different hospitals and these were the only guys to finally (!) figure out what was wrong with my dog. They only did necessary tests and the prices were reasonable - compared to the last place I went! I am very happy with this veterinary hospital and so is my dog! Read Less
