WARNING - MANY ANIMALS HAVE BEEN MISDIAGNOSED AND DIED HERE. Michael Pitt misdiagnosed my dog in two very serious ways. He is a HORRIBLE veterinarian that lies to get your money. I wish I had read the reviews before I went to him. Apparently several dogs have died because of his misdiagnosis (please read the reviews on various sites). Fortunately my dog is perfectly fine because I got a second opinion. First, he told me my dog had a tumor on his eye that will need to get surgically removed. The wonderful vet that I went to for the second opinion said it was just swollen from a cut. He prescribed an ointment that has reduced the swelling by 50% in 2 days. There was no tumor and cut is healing really well! Second, Pitt claimed that my dog had an ear infection. He charged me for an infection ointment my dog did not need. The doctor I went to for the second opinion sent a camera down his ear and found that it was perfectly fine. In fact he said, "his ears look great. Better than most dogs." There was no infection! This man does not deserve to be near our amazing pets. After my experience, I started to read the reviews on yelp, yellow pages, and Google. I can't believe how many people have lost their pets because of this man's incompetence. Read Less

After a second visit, I have to raise my review to five stars. I saw that Dr. Oh really loves animals. He and the staff went above and beyond for me and my cat. I plan to make this my permanent vet.

Very upset with my visit here today. Came to the office with a 10 am appointment and many walk ins came in after me. EVERY SINGLE WALK IN WAS TAKEN BEFORE ME! That already pissed me off because the staff didn't apologize or tell me why they were going first nothing. 45 minutes later I finally see Dr. O who told me that my dog would need a tooth extraction which I knew and had gotten a quote earlier at this office telling me it would cost $400 which is tough for a working student but he's my baby so I would pay it. As soon as he was about to be admitted they come in with paperwork telling me it was going to cost $570! I freaked! Told the man who came in that I can't pay that and they brought it down to $510. Which still is way above what was quoted me and what I was guaranteed at another vet office closer to me. When I told them that they said I probably didn't tell the person quoting me that there would be an extraction which i absolutely did because I have been worried for a week now! I left in a fury still having me pay $45 for the vet visit and leaving in tears. After I called later to talk about it they tried to work more on the price but it was too little too late! I gave an extra star cause I did appreciate how that manager was when I called her but the people there should have gotten her in the first place. Where was the manager when I drove 45 minutes to get to this office? Manager seemed apologetic but wish that was brought to me before I drove home. Will not be returning here. Read Less

Our 9 year old dog was diagnosed with a huge tumor on the spleen in which it had to be removed. The Vet that we go to could not do the procedure since it was complicated so we looked for another place that could do it. Everywhere we looked charged an arm and a couple of legs as much as $5k. Luckily we found this place that had great customer service and the Vet was compassionate. I coudn't recommend a better Vet.My wife and I have a Pitbull who sadly injured both her back knees and needed TPLO surgery. The first specialist (not Mid Valley) quoted us $10K for the surgeries which made our hearts stop and to do some more research. After joining a TPLO facebook group, tons of people directed us to Mid Valley, not just for being more cost friendly but also for amazing service. We decided to go with them and it was the best decision. Dr. Pitt is the most easy going doctor to talk with and he takes the time to explain everything to you thoroughly. All of the staff seem to truly care about our dog and we felt she is in great hands with them. The vet clinic itself is spotless and never has any smells. They are really amazing at just charging you once up front and then all of the follow-ups, xrays, and meds have been included so you dont ever feel like you are being nickel and dimed.Every time I have been there, I encounter another owner who has had their TPLO at Mid Valley and have only experienced positive feedback and reviews. I've been taking my dogs here over the last 25 years. I even remember when I was a little kid when Dr. Pitt purchased the practice. No matter where I live now, Dr. Pitt is my vet and make the effort to drive over. Dr. Pitt and his staff have been truly amazing with each one of my dogs and experiences, which can be traumatic for a pet owner. Dr. Pitt is a calm and thorough explains what is going on and next steps to resolve an issue. From routine help checks to surgery, I come back because of his honesty and integrity. He truly cares about all of his patients. I can be a little neurotic when it comes to my fur baby and the staff and doctors are still amazing. I had to take my dog to an emergency vet since the office was open (middle of the night) and I was told my dog had 50% chance of living, so of course I did everything. I took my dog for follow up with Dr. Pitt and he reviewed the x-rays and told me the fix was simple due to the recent fires we were having. I've encountered this multiple times going to the emergency vet.My current dog tore her ACL and had to have surgery this week. We have been in and out of the office, but it feels like family when I'm there. It can get busy, but like any ER or doctor's office, emergencies come up. I don't mind the wait if I have to, there are two TVs and free wifi! No complaints. I highly recommend Mid-Valley Vet, especially Dr. Pitt! Read Less

I had been taking my cat here for years for checkups and vaccines and all was well. I took my cat in because he had lost a lot of weight. Dr. Oh. diagnosed him with diabetes, told me he would need an insulin shot and to try and get him to eat wet food and that I would need to bring him back in in 2 weeks to check his glucose level. A technician showed me how to give the shot and I asked her how often and was told twice a day after a meal. I called over the weekend to see if blood work had come back and I was told no and that they would call me. 6 days later the cat was listless, not eating and his eyes looked very strange. My husband called the vet (this was early evening) and they said to bring him in. My husband asked questions on what they thought may be wrong with him and what treatment they may give him. My husband was frustrated by their answers and he decided to bring the cat to Access emergency room instead. The cat was diagnosed with hyperglycemia, a UTI and it took 4 nights for him to be stabilized and come home. This is why I am giving Mid Valley 1 star. 1. the lack of education of a serious disease & management of disease  - at Access I was well educated (and given a handout) on how to best administer the shots, create a feeding schedule and signs to look out for that need immediate attention like hyper/hypoglycemia. Also, to monitor diabetes a glucose curve test is needed versus a single glucose test.2. I did not receive a call about the blood test results. I had them send over the cat's medical records to Access (after several requests) and it was discovered that he had been diagnosed by Mid Valley with the UTI and a prescription was written out but no one informed me. If I had been called (this was 4 days before the cat got sick) and he had been treated that may or may not have kept him healthy.3. I talked to Dr. Oh a few days after the cat was admitted to the hospital and he was apologetic but could not give me an answer on why I was not called about the UTI. I left a message for Dr. Pitt and was told I'd hear back from him. I continued to leave Dr. Pitt messages over the next 2 weeks. Dr. Pitt did call me back and told me he had been out of town. The receptionists should have told me that. Dr. Pitt took no responsibility that no one called to follow up on the UTI. He made poor excuses and wanted to focus that allegedly my husband was rude to his staff on the phone and cursed at them. I asked my husband and daughter who was there for the phone call and they both said there was no cussing. Dr. Pitt told me my husband was only concerned about the money. Again, that is not what happened otherwise why would he have taken the cat to Access? When I complained to  Dr. Pitt about the lack of education on diabetes he said that there are too many different illnesses for them to give information on all of them. * I was given a refund for the appointment minus meds and supplies. I feel that Mid Valley should pay for some of the cat's bill from Access because of their lack of education on diabetes and not being told of the UTI or given the medication needed. ** If your animal is diagnosed with or has an illness I would seek out a specialist immediately. I am receiving excellent care for my cat now with written materials and he his being monitored more closely. Diabetes in cats is very hard to regulate and I feel sure my cat would be dead if he was still being treated at Mid Valley. Read Less

We went in for a consult and was very impressed with Dr. Pitt and the staff at Mid Valley. Even my dog, who was in pain was very comfortable and allowed them to X-ray and examine her with out being sedated, which is usually needed for dogs facing this surgery. So, we scheduled the surgery for a few days later with Dr. Barret. We are now 9 weeks post-op and Roxy is back to her crazy Doberman self like nothing ever happened. Warning!!! If you're bringing a pet due to an injury. Go somewhere else. These "veterinarians" don't care about your pet. They don't attend your pet with you present. They take them to the "examination room" and don't tell you what they will do. Later they come out with a big bill, with a list of things you can't even prove if they did or not. I took my cat there because he was attacked by a stray cat. They said he was fine, "washed his eye, and examined him" my cat was soaked on his way out. And they provided me 2 types of medicines. A week later after realizing his wounded eye wasn't getting any better I took him to see a specialist and a numerous list of problems with his eye were introduced to me. They attended my cat with me present, and I was able to witness how they treated him with care. I knew EXACTLY what I was paying for. If this Location would have examined him the right way maybe his eye and his health condition would be better. Now my cat's life is in jeopardy. Watch out for this place. It's not the first time this happens to me here. They just want your money and take advantage of the fact their business hours are longer than most in the Valley. Read Less

Also, when I was there a lady rushed in because her dog was choking and they dropped everything and had the issue resolved and the dog brought back out in under five minutes. I've been to this clinic twice now for the same cat (lucky me). First we thought he had broken his femur at the top where the ball joint was doing something dumb. We had to pay for a 1500 dollar surgery not including the diagnosis. Let me tell you, we did our research. Most places were looking to charge us 2 to 3k, so we originally just came here because of the more reasonable price. At first I was worried that maybe the quality would be lower, but that was not the case at all. The staff was very friendly, the doctor spent time explaining exactly what was going on and how they'd fix it. We went ahead with the FHO surgery. Four months later our cat's OTHER leg started acting up. After another xray it was discovered he had leg parthes (sp?) and had to have the SAME surgery on the other leg. The doctor was kind, and remembered us and our cat and gave us a discount on the operation for our misfortune. Honestly, I came here for the convenience of it, but I don't think I could bring my animal anywhere else now. It's a solid place. Read Less

Called in advance to ask about their vaccination clinic. The girl told me to come Saturday at 4:30pm. I show up and, although it's a small reception area and both receptionists are directly facing you, standing in line waiting for your turn is not enough here. They never acknowledge your presence. So I walked up to them and told them I was there for the vaccination clinic, said I called in advance and told them it was my first time. She just stared blankly at me. So I asked if I should fill out any paperwork, take a seat, or...just what should I do. She said go ahead and take a seat. So I did, next to other people, facing the two reception ladies.A FULL HOUR (more if literally, it was 5:40pm) went by when I realized they'd just completely forgotten to get back to me. So I walk up again, and tell them, "I'm just wondering if there's a status; I've been waiting there for a full hour and no one's given me any indication of what to do or expect." So she says, "Well, this is not your first time, is it?" I said yes it is, and her eyes opened wider and she turns to catch a few forms to hand me. I tell her, I did ask if I needed to fill out forms when I got here and you didn't tell me anything. She just looks at me. Not even an apology. At least an apology, people. So I sit, complete the first two pages and get up looking for her as she'd vanished in the back, to let her know I only had one form but three pets (shouldn't she have asked me?). Get the other two, sit again to fill them out. When I was done, I get helped within 15 minutes. So really, the delay had indeed been because she just forgot to do something about me after I got there. Inside with the vet/technicians everything was fine. So I walk out to pay. So I stand at the reception waiting for the other girl to bill me. She asks me what I want, and I say I need to pay. Should be Rabies ($16) plus FVRCP ($16) times 3 cats, so I was expecting $96.00. So you can imagine my surprise when I hear her say three hundred fifty something. Here's what I learned:1) Turns out "Cat combo" here means the actual Cat combo (FVRCP) PLUS FeLV so they get to charge for 2 vaccines in one. Fine, IF they let you know in advance and inform you that's what going on, and give you advance option of doing it or not. I did my personal research and had I been given the proper information, I would NOT give my cats FeLV vaccine. I AM SO PISSED. They do need FVRCP. They DON'T *NEED* FeLV and I have a myriad of reasons why I hadn't, and wouldn't have allowed them to give them that, and now it's already done. And all because they want to charge you for 2 in that one.2) Even so, the girl's math was still wrong, she entered the info incorrectly, and shouldn't be giving rude annoyed stares if a client says something is wrong with the price. Even at 3 $16 vaccines times 3 cats, the total does not EVER get to $350 something, no matter where you got your math education. BTW, she had the hubris of handing me a calculator when I mentioned $48 times 3 does not add up to the total she gave me. I happily used it to show her $144. BE VERY CAREFUL HERE. In my experience, they do not expect pet owners to be educated, care enough about their fur babies to research what's best for their pets, and instead do just whatever the staff tells them without ever asking anything, and paying without ever taking two seconds to mentally add up something and walk out paying extra for things you didn't want in the first place, pay more for it than you should due to "miscalculations", and just deal with it. Very disappointing first and last time. Read Less

Arrow loves to come here and he's been here a lot for just short of a year. The front desk girls are always so kind and love to see Arrow, or at least I think they do because they are so kind! Most the the guys I think see me as a crazy dog mom and I kind of get vibes that they get annoyed with me but they still take good care of my pup. I've only seen Dr. Oh and he's pretty good with Arrow always straight to the point, although I would admit that I often need to ask questions to get details from him but he is always professional as well as friendly and helpful. The reason for the 4 starts is because I've never been seen on my actual appointment time it always take so much longer. I've waited up to an hour and half past my appointment time. I get it it's hard to see the the patients but it can be a bit frustrating. Read Less

She said were open until 8pm and come on down. The doctor Michael Pitt ran some tests and found it was a simple case of a bad stomach ache. The vet gave her a few shots, sent home meds and told me not to feed her for 12 hours. The next morning she was back to her normal crazy self. Love this facility and will return. I don't normally write a review but in this case I had too. I just went in two weeks ago because my 4 year old shih tzu was very weak and vomiting and throwing up so I took her there and they told me she is diagnosed with severe anemia and gave her a shot and some medication and charged me 250.00. Then four and half hours later my dog stated vomiting and then had trouble breathing and Started to twitch and died right in my arms I cried calling the vet telling him what was happening and he told me to come and bring her in asap so I did and he told me he was giving me a refund for my loss as I was crying telling him what happens and then when I get too the front desk to get my refund this front desk dark haired thin girl tells me I'm only going to be refunded 110 not the full bill all I can say there is a special place in hell for her. Dr. Pitt is an angel...let me tell you why. Shortly after moving from East Coast to West, with all 3 of our rescue cats, we needed a Vet for an emergency. When you are new in town it can be hard enough to find someone you trust with the lives of your pets (my kids), let alone someone who will not take advantage of you in your time of need. Buster, our (then) 3 year old Turkish Angora, had suffered for a full week of petite mal seizures - we did not know what they were because they lasted only seconds. On the 7th day we found him full blown epileptic seizure, a horrifying sight to say the least. We rushed Buster to Mid Valley where he was seen by Dr. Pitt. He identified his problem in seconds, administered life saving medication to stop his seizures (which lasted at least 24 hours after arrival) and kept him for the next 48 hours. The day after he was admitted, I arrived unannounced to see how he was doing - once again Dr. Pitt jumps in, advises his staff to bring Buster into a room (there was a FULL lobby of people, but they gave ME a room) and told me to take as long as I needed. We spent at least a half an hour together and nobody bothered me to leave or give the room back. Fast forward to Thanksgiving 2013 - Buster had been doing very well for the past 4 years. However, the Tuesday before the holiday, Buster is leaving blood on the carpet and is not himself. Too bad it was now 10 p.m. and Mid Valley was closed. We took him to another HORRIBLE hospital who kept him until Thursday...two days later we rush him back to the (nameless) facility for a free recheck. Buster was having an urinary blockage and had blocked again. The heartless "doctor" tells me that I should put him down because he'll probably block for life. I frantically called Mid Valley who told me to leave IMMEDIATELY and bring him over. Long story short, Dr. Pitt saved Buster again with surgery and 10 days of hospitalization. The charges for both incidents were so very reasonable, as Dr. Pitt is incredibly compassionate. I will not say why they lost the 5th star, because I will only speak kind words about Dr. Pitt and he is NOT the reason for that. There is a special place in Heaven for people like Dr. Pitt, and I suspect that he will be surrounded by loving and grateful pets & owners when he arrives there (which hopefully won't be for decades to come because ALL of our pets need him). Not happy with the service at all. I specifically asked the receptionist just the rabies vaccine and nothing else for my dog. I told her I wanted to look at my dogs paperwork at home first when she recommended more vaccines. Instead she did not listen to me and I did not even notice they had given my dog a bunch of other vaccines until I had gotten home and looked at the receipt. Then I go and look at my dogs paperwork and talk to my boyfriend and turns out my dog has had those shots recently, which is why I was told I only needed to get rabies, and it was the only thing I went in and asked for. So now he is double dosed and he is only 5 lbs so I worry for his health. It should be illegal to give a dog unauthorized vaccines like that. You can get a dog sick by doing that. I personally do not recommend this place. Read Less

Took my cat over the weekend, hanging on to dear life. turned out he only had a bladder problem, they flushed it out with a catherter. Vet told me, my cat needed to stay 2-4 days and the bill would be $2100. He was a 3 year old cat and Dr. Pitt said he had a 60% chance to live. told him I could only afford $500. in my desperate need, devastated, crying at his office he has the nerve to say ""call your credit card and ask for more money or call around to borrow the money"". Then he lectured me that pet owners need to take the responsiblity and have money set aside for emergencies like this and so on. So then he comes back in the room and says he will lower price to $1100. After I pleaded with him he said since I could not pay I needed to sign over my pet to his care. I told him I can take the cat somewhere else and he said"" I can be a DICK and calll the city on you"" how unprofessional!. He would not even give me my cat back!! So he gave me no other option but to sign him over. He said he would put him up for adoption. So instead of him offering me a payment plan and accepting my $500, he instead just wanted my money and not even try to help us out!! My cat didn't even need surgery, I cant imagine how much he would charge! I will never take my dogs back not even refer to him ever again!!! Read Less

3 weeks ago my lab puppy Tammy was very sick with vomiting and blood diarrheaa. I called around and found a very symphathetic vet, Mid Valley Vet Hospital. On the phone I explained that I adopted the puppy from Lab Rescue and being a CSUN student I was not in a very good financial situation. The kind nurse on the phone told me to bring my pet in and that we would fiqure out whats wrong with her and help in any way we could. At 7:30 pm on a Friday I brought Tammy in and found a very warm, clean and caring vet hospital. In about 10 minutes a vet, Dr. Michael Pitt came in and did a good exam on her.. After running a couple of tests he diagnosed her as being very sick with a virus called Parvo. I found out this is a very serious and deadly condition and she would need to stay in the hospital for treatment. I was given an estimate that was reasonable but much more than I could afford. I spoke to the nurse and was very honest about my financial situation being a student. Ths nurse, Cindy got authorization to charge me a flat and reduced fee that was very reasonalble and affordable with my finances. Four days later I took her home. She was back to normal. I will always be thankful to Mid Valley Vet Hospital for both taking care of her and helping me out with the bill. I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful and caring vet and give them an A++++ for all their help and understanding. just my two cents. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Our dog needed to have TPLO surgery.  After shopping around, I found Mid Valley.  They had great reviews and a traveling surgeon that specializes in this surgery.  The fee for the surgery also included many post-op x-rays, exams and meds and was considerably less expensive than some other vet hospitals I had talked to.Dr. Pitt and the staff are very good with the animals--our dog just seemed happy to go every time.  The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the wait time.  Most of our visits had to be on the weekend because my husband needed to lift our dog in and out of the car both at home and at Mid Valley.  After she could get in and out by herself, I started making weekday appointments and it was a much shorter visit. Our dog is happy and once again walking on all four legs!Thank you Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital! When facing TPLO surgery for my 3 year old Doberman, I searched for surgeons and researched endlessly. I received 2 recommendations for Mid Valley! I am so very great full for the doctors and the entire staff  at Mid Valley, for their compassion and professionalism. Thank you for giving my girl the best possible care! Read Less

They are one of the few places I've gone to that treat the patients more than just patients. It's reassuring to see how loved the animals are there. So glad to call this place my vet! Also, when I was there a lady rushed in because her dog was choking and they dropped everything and had the issue resolved and the dog brought back out in under five minutes. I was very impressed with how swiftly they handled the situation and how little hassle it was for someone in an emergency to get help for their pet. Read Less

So last night my sweet Maltese shitzu Annabelle went into labor. After hours of me being right by her side while she pushed we realized that the pups weren't coming and we needed to head to the emergency vet. The Emergency Vet let us know that the pups were in the wrong position and that she needed a c section. After quoting us and astronomical price that most people can't afford (LA so everything is stupid expensive) we went into panic mode to get my baby taken care of. We were lucky enough to find Mid Valley Vet Hospital and not only did they work with us on cost, but the Vet and staff were sweet and understanding and beyond informative!

Read Less

I'm new to the area and needed a vet orthopedic surgeon when my lab Sabena tore her ACL at the dog park. After researching and speaking to other dog owners, I found this place. The orthopedic consult was free. I was seen by a very nice and concerned vet Dr Pitt. He spent almost an hour going over her injury, recovery time and what caused her ACL tear. He has a vet orthopedic surgeon on staff and they performed a procedure called a TPLO on her the next day. The fee at $2900 flat was much lower than I had been quoted at 2 other places. She went home the following morning with a bandage and meds. It's been 7 days now and I'm blown away at how well she is walking. Follow ups are quick and easy. The staff and nurses are very caring and friendly. Very grateful for the good work and Sabena gives them a big lick on the face. I will start using this vet for any other problems. Read Less
