This is the first time I have ever written a negative on-line review, as I am a big fan of supporting local businesses, but my experiences with Dr. Deepak Khurana has been so negative (and expensive), that I feel compelled to warn others. I care about my pets, so much so that, I am willing to do whatever it takes to keep them comfortable, so cost is not the real issue, and to be fair, in the early years of Dr. Khurana's practice I considered him a good vet. Dr. Khurana took over his practice from Dr. Kelly in 2009; Dr Kelly was ethical, a lovely person and a fine veterinarian. My concern is that I have seen a real change in Dr. Khurana as his confidence and practice developed. What is at issue is the fact that this vet now encourages testing and treatments much beyond what is in the best interests of my animals. I will share a few examples. For example, he encouraged me to continue to treat my pet when it was clear the animal was suffering - it was only when I pressed, did he tell me he thought my pet might only live a few more days and the procedure might not work - that is, after pressing expensive and more importantly, invasive treatments with low odds. He has also added treatments without my permission, such as cleaning my pet's teeth during a surgical procedure. When I picked up my pet, the office staff warned me that my pet might have a sore mouth. Why would anyone choose to arbitrarily add a sore mouth to a pet that has to recover from abdominal surgery? I finally decided that using his services was not in the best interest of my pets when he suggested a truly invasive and generally unsuccessful procedure; I am a research biologist and can read medical literature; this particular surgery does not generally extend life. He was not comfortable with my being able to engage him in a professional conversation. When questioned, he was defensive and said that I would think I had made the 'right' decision if the pet lived; this is a very powerful and guilt-producing statement to make, and one that would be very hard to resist for anyone, including me. I wish I had moved to another vet as my concerns increased and I hope I made the right decisions on behalf of my animals. Nevertheless, if you use this office, ask the right questions, review the charges and watch for how your options are presented. For me, I will find another vet Read Less
