Not sure why the 3 stars...we've been coming here for almost 9 years and we have always been treated fairly, never over charged or charged for things we didn't need, and the prices are affordable compared to other Vets. Also, they never put the life of my pet at risk by providing harmful treatments. As a pet owner, one should know that there are always yearly or bi-yearly pet check-ups, shots, and other things that you "need" to budget for, as these things create a healthier and happier life for you and your pet. Just like you would take care of your car, your home, and your family- you need to think of your pets in the same way. Read Less

I am Extremely unhappy with this so called "vet" they go after money, not caring about your pet or the danger they can put them into... I brought my English bulldog Maggie here for a check up and everything was good, the vet suggested we do stool testing, which I thought was a little off since I brought all of her paper work with me and her medical records indicated she had just had one; so should've been the first sign that they just wanted to charge me for something Maggie didn't need. Anyway, I was scheduled to bring her back in a few days later for a follow up with her parvo shot, come Wednesday I brought her in and handed the young lady at the front desk Maggie's shot records she looked at it and told me that Maggie needed a dewormer and bordetella shot as well as her parvo, well Maggie is only 8 weeks, and the shot records say she needed that at 14 weeks and dewormer at 12 weeks. I trusted them with my puppy and just to get a few more dollars they gave my dog shots she didn't need putting her health in danger. My boyfriend later called to rectify the situation and they apologized but did nothing else... In all honestly they should have refunded me my 51 dollars along with the apology. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! Read Less

About this client, we have been providing great service for years without any concerns and the client was very happy. About this incident, before providing the services for her pet, everything was explained to the client about the procedures and an estimate was signed by the client. Due to a malignant cancer another surgery was recommended based on the oncologists review which the client didn't like and disagreed. This is the first time I have ever written a negative on-line review, as I am a big fan of supporting local businesses, but my experiences with Dr. Deepak Khurana has been so negative (and expensive), that I feel compelled to warn others.  I care about my pets, so much so that, I am willing to do whatever it takes to keep them comfortable, so cost is not the real issue, and to be fair, in the early years of Dr. Khurana's practice I considered him a good vet.  Dr. Khurana took over his practice from Dr. Kelly in 2009; Dr Kelly was ethical, a lovely person and a fine veterinarian.   My concern is that I have seen a real change in Dr. Khurana as his confidence and practice developed.  What is at issue is the fact that this vet now encourages testing and treatments much beyond what is in the best interests of my animals.  I will share a few examples.   For example, he encouraged me to continue to treat my pet when it was clear the animal was suffering - it was only when I pressed, did he tell me he thought my pet might only live a few more days and the procedure might not work - that is, after pressing expensive and more importantly, invasive treatments with low odds.   He has also added treatments without my permission, such as cleaning my pet's teeth during a surgical procedure.  When I picked up my pet, the office staff warned me that my pet might have a sore mouth.  Why would anyone choose to arbitrarily add a sore mouth to a pet that has to recover from abdominal surgery?   I finally decided that using his services was not in the best  interest of my pets when he suggested a truly invasive and generally unsuccessful procedure;  I am a research biologist and can read medical literature; this particular surgery does not generally extend life.  He was not comfortable with my being able to engage him in a professional conversation.  When questioned, he was defensive and said that I would think I had made the 'right' decision if the pet lived; this is a very powerful and guilt-producing statement to make, and one that would be very hard to resist for anyone, including me.  I wish I had moved to another vet as my concerns increased and I hope I made the right decisions on behalf of my animals.   Nevertheless,  if you use this office, ask the right questions, review the charges and watch for how your options are presented.  For me, I will find another vet Read Less

I brought my dog here a while ago but never thought above writing a review until recently because I had some problems with my cat and took him to a different vet (an AMAZING one at that..Ventura Veterinary Hospital on Thompson) and saw the difference between what a good vet is and what a not so good one is like I experienced here. I do have to say the staff and facility are great. But the vet who saw my dog (I felt like) did not care about us, made me feel rushed, and definitely tried to rip me off. Basically what happened was my dog was losing fur between her eyes. During the whole visit (about 5 minutes long total) he did a skin test for scabies (even I know what scabies looks like and she DID NOT have it) and was pressuring me to do a stool test, give her a shot to get started for antibiotics, and then actual antibiotics to take for the next week or so. Thankfully the nurses came in and told me I did not have to do everything (seemed very excessive to me) so I just agreed to the skin test and antibiotics. When I got home I talked it over with my boyfriend and he agreed we probably shouldn't give her antibiotics since we don't even know what's causing it (and there could be other side effects from them) and maybe just change her food to something with more oil and vitamins. After doing that and adding a teaspoon of olive oil to her food, sure enough the fur started growing back within a week and her coat was shiny and we never had problems with it again. My friend took her dog here as well and had a very similar experience with the same vet (very insincere, trying to get her to buy a bunch of unnecessary test/procedures, etc) and she since has not gone back either. Its nice to know taking care of your pet can be affordable and not a total drag.Last time i went in because i noticed a bump on baileys leg that i didn't remember being there. A big concern is bone cancer so i took her right in to get checked out. The vet i've seen a few times, great guy, spoke with me a bit and gave Bailey a good once over. We decided it would be best to take a radiograph (x-ray) to make sure it was nothing to worry about. Being a dentist i feel pretty comfortable reading radiographs and was pleased the vet spent the time to go over it with me. Of course i was more pleased when i was assured it was probably noting to worry about. wew! my wifes cat got sick last xmas and i took him to her vet (we think he ate some poinsettia plant). I can't put less than one star?! Don't take your animal here if you don't want to be monetarily raped by the new vet who bought the practice in June 2009 from Dr. Kelly, or if your dog is sensitive to drugs! Dr. Kelly overdosed my drug-sensitive collie on adequan given to her to ease the pain of hip dysplasia, then when I brought her back in to see what could be done about the diahrea, throwing up, and constant panting, the new vet came up with nothing other than wanting to give her tramadol, an NSAID, another drug similar to the one she is already having a reaction to...(yes...lets give her more drugs to combat the side effects of the 1st drugs, good idea) as well as to do unnecessary x-rays. The staff is awesome but the veterinarians are less than decent. BOTTOM LINE- the new vet is in the hole and trying to make a buck at the expense of the worried pet owner and did nothing to actually help my dog. It'll be a cold day in hell when I go back to Bristol animal hospital. My dog is worse off now than she was before she ever stepped in the door. I will be driving her up to see my old vet to have her checked for kidney and liver damage plausible due to the panting and large consumption of water recently. Read Less
