First off this is from 5 months ago posted on Yelp, second part is what occurred today. First Took 1 of my 2 dogs and my grand dog to see their vet. Only to be told he no longer worked there. I should have turned around and left! As I walked in, their receptionist asked if my dogs had their rabbis shots yet. I explained that only one was mine and he needed shots, but did not know about my grand dog. So I called my daughter and put her on speaker phone, were she clarified with the receptionist that her dog ONLY needed a rabbis shot. The girl told my daughter it was only $18.50 for the shot, my daughter said ok. My daughter proceeded to tell her she could send her the shot records and the girl said "Ooo no that's ok so long as she gets the rabbis shot today, your fine." Was taken to a room where I was let to struggle with the dogs for most of the time, while the vet tried to check out my poor babies foot injury. All the while the vet tech was on the computer, until it was time to hold down my big girl. Under a LOT of stress about the injury, struggling with the dogs, their asking and telling me stuff. They asked about flees, I said they used dog collars, they talked about vaccines, I said ya "he" needs them. They wanted to give them worm medication and I told them they had already been tested with another vet and did not have worms. By the time we were ready to check out, I had medications I did NOT ask for, expensive flee pills ad a bill for vaccines that were NOT needed for my grand dog!!! A $80 vet visit turned out to be a $300 for just one dog! When I confronted the office about the unnecessary charges for vaccines and medications NOT NEEDED, their response was kinds of like "O well, they wont hurt her (jennifer)," and the receptionist LIED about the conversation that took place via phone with my daughter. My reaction was "O welllllllll, I'll NEVER EVER do business with a vet's office who thinks their running a fast food joint an who feels that it's ok to SUPER SIZE my bill." the flee medication was returned, but they refused to give me a receipt with conformation stating that my bill was enough. Soon after posting my review on Yelp, their office supervisor called me threatening me that if I did not post a more favorable review, they would make it harder for me to get a refund on the flee medication. So, I disputed the charges with Chase Bank. Today, I spoke with Chase who stated that they contacted Buena Vet who did not respond to the claim for quit sometime, but when they did, they denied that I had returned the flee medication. I then called the office only to be hung up on by sussi. then they tell me they can not talk to me and that I needed to talk to the Supervisor. Long story short, they said I couldn't wait because they did not when she would be free. Bottom line, these people should be EMBARRASSED to hold any professional standing when they LACK INTEGRITY, their RUDE, and boni fide LIARS!!! Read Less

If there was an option for more than 5 stars.. they'd get it!. We called at 9:30am and got an appointment that same day at 1130am. I walked into a brand new place, and my husband, me, and our fur baby felt welcomed right away. They have a decorated board with every pets name o it that they're seeing that day.. and it's beyond awesome and adorable. The entire staff was incredible! The rooms have stuff for the cats to climb on (I'm sure there's other things for puppers) They have my kitty cat treats! They were beyond helpful. And the price is good! In my experience the team at Buena Vet are both compassionate and highly skilled. They make every effort to go above and beyond for their patients and clients. All of the Technicians are skilled and have a great attention to detail. A couple weeks ago a few good Samaritans brought in a small dog that was the victim of a hit and run. The team immediately took in the pup and performed an emergency surgery without any payment. They also reached out to the community and were able to reunite this lost dog with his owner within 2 days. This experience speaks volumes about Buena Vet's staff and doctors. Medical Qualifications: Knowledgeable, confident, capable, qualified, trustworthy, etc. Pricing: I believe pricing is fair/competitive, but I do not have a whole lot of experience to compare with/from. Personally I felt I was underbilled considering what a literally awesome experience I had... minus of course how stressed out I was about my furry buddy. ;) Other: friendly and pleasant staff, comfortable atmosphere, well maintained. The experience: My cat had an ongoing periodontal infection that I was not aware of. Yeah I feel terribly guilty that I did not spot this before it became a huge problem. One of his canines fractured in a way that my cat could not close his mouth or swallow normally so he was drooling excessively and completely freaked out to say the least. A trusted friend with lots of furry friends recommended Buena Animal Hospital to me. Dr Kentfield found and diagnosed the problem within minutes. I was hoping for immediate treatment for my furry friend, but being a vet tech a few decades ago I knew that this did not qualify as a medical emergency. Dr Kentfield made room in her busy schedule and did the dental extraction operation ASAP. Everything went perfectly and my furry friend is home safe and sound and comfortable again. Personal Background: Software Engineer that creates website security software. Website security and software troubleshooting in general can be fairly stressful for folks so I maintain a logical/factual approach to any issues or problems at all times. So what I personally appreciated the most is how logically and competently Dr Kentfield took control of the situation and made the diagnosis. I saw Dr. Villanova and he was great! My dog hates the vet and barks at everyone who works at one. Dr. Villanova was very good with her and my dog didn't bark at him once. I've never seen her so comfortable with a vet before. I felt that Dr. Villanova truly cared and wasn't out to just get money. He was very helpful and I recommend him to anyone! Read Less

Today was a hard day.. I had to put down my two 19 year old cats.. I researched many vets online and made the uncomfortable phone calls.. Finally I found Buena Animal Hospital .. the amazing lady who answered my questions on the phone was the start of what would be the most compassionate and professional support for me to euthanize my beloved cats .. Dr. Villano and his coworkers gave me and my kitties the time and attention I needed to get thru a very difficult time.. I could not have been more supported by his wonderful staff.. Dr. Villano is truly a man who represents his speciality in the highest form of good ..everything a client can ask for.. He deserves 10 stars .. oh and by the way I drove from Santa Monica 50 miles to see him ..I could not find the empathy I was looking for in my neck of the woods .. in the future if I bring another animal into my life I will be happy to take the time to drive to this office !Read Less

We have three dogs who are seen by the doctors at Buena! And I could NOT ask for better care! Both doctors love animals (as do the entire office staff!) When we had emergencies that kept EVERYBODY until 7:00pm! There was not a single complaint about staying so long after hours! Nor was there an additional charge for after hours care either!! I am very pleased with Buena Animal Hospital, so mch so that I wouldn't even dream of taking my cat Squeegee anywhere else. They are good with him and he doesn't get all freaked out when I take him in for his exams and the shots he's had didn't seem to phase him. I love Dr. Jan --we have been very happy with the quality of care of pet has received here. The staff is extremely well trained, in fact this facility wouldn't even consider hiring one of my friends who is an amazing vet Dr. because she didn't have the level of training they require of their staff here. All these Dr.s are required to have gone through at least a one year intensive internship program post vet school. I have taken my 3 cats to Buena Animal Hospital for a few years now for various issues. I have seen all three doctors and have been impressed with the knowledge and professionalism from all of them. I have been to a number of other vets in Ventura and I have inevitably been disappointed due to either lack of compassion or their inablilty and/or motivation to problem solve. The vets at BAH have always spent quality time with me and shown and interest in my pet and their issues. The staff ALWAYS calls to check up on the results of our visit and to follow up if needed. These vets are well versed in the latest research and are ALWAYS interested in alternative approaches if possible. I am here reading some reviews that have been given. I have taking all my pets there. I have 3 dogs and 1 cat. I have taking my pets to be seen by Dr. Nicci who saw my dog Droopy. I took him to Dr. Nicci cause i notice he had red spots on him after getting a hair cut. He is a cocker spaneil and when i brought him in noticing when he went to the bath room he had blood in his stool. They had ran a boold test on him and to know his blood was thin. Any cut could have my dog bleed out. Dr. Nicci and Dr. Jan have keep him under good watch , I know i had no worries. My dog after meds they have gave me my dog droopy was back to him self in no time. I am proude to have them as my vet and i tell alot of my friends and family about them. More than half of them take there pets there. I know Dr. Jan Dr. Jill Dr. Nicci all have great big herats. they are not about moeny. John and val who are tech are great. I know with them also behind there doctors i have no worries Read Less

My dog was taken care of by them for a year or so. Overall the staff are very nice but I am not certain if this hospital was the right choice for my dog. They are very quick to give you meds before trying more holistic approaches if a dog is sick. They are very quick to recommend meds as preventive measures. So to our dog we gave all the vaccinations, heart worm meds, flee control meds as they recommended. My dog suffered her first seizure within the week in which she got four vaccinations including rabies, was fed a heartworm pill, and was given a flee treatment. My dog now suffers from epileptic seizures on and off. Obviously I don't know for sure that her condition was entirely caused by this practice but I have found out that it did not help for sure. These meds could be poisonous to your dog. So please research before you agree to everything they recommend. Even if you want to get them all, try to space them out so that your dog's system doesn't get overloaded with chemicals. My two cents. Read Less

Dr. Nicci and her staff gave my 12-year-old Golden Retriever, Molly, the most excellent and compassionate care during her last year and especially, in her last few weeks. Dr. Nicci called me personally when Molly was in distress, as was I. Sadly, Molly had lymphoma and the difficult decision had to be made - and Dr. Nicci sat on the floor with me and cried with me, as Molly, this great soul who had given so much, passed away. Lets start with the front, very courteous, enjoyable, friendly, for awhile you saw a lot of different people up there, but i think it's improving. That is where the heart of the staff begins..Then the nurses, always very friendly, loving, gentle. Last but not the least, the Dr.s they are amazing!! All with their own personalities...If you want thorough, a lot of information, almost more then you can handle, then see Dr. Nicci. If you want straight to the point, like to be told how it is, no beating around the bush, then see Dr. Jan, and if you want in between, thorough, yet to the point, very kind, courteous, see Dr. Jill. I can't say enough about Buena Animal Hospital. I have been bringing my pets here since the 80's. Dr. Cherry, the original vet and owner was the best vet in Ventura and when he retired, I was sad. It has always been so inviting to me and my dog. The vets are understanding and always wanting to do the best for my pet. They have always wanted to do the least vaccines for how active my pet is. The doctors bend over backwards to chat with me on anything I am worried about. And always call me back to check up on my pet after surgery or vaccines to make sure he is ok.
